Dear friends,
I own a razr i, initially on retail GB, with unlocked bootloader.
Tried to root, verified with various apps and seemed ok.
Unfortunately, supersu wouldn't update, lucky patcher said that root is not done, and in general, any app which needs root to work, wouldn't work for me.
I then installed the latest retail EU ics (81.5.40002.xt890.retail.en.eu), rerooted with all the possible ways through win7 and mac, but i still get the same error messages.
Any ideas why?

You need the update-binary from the RAZR i, they use the ARM7 binary for that flashable zip. Any OTA update or flashable for the RAZR i has this file.
Like RAZRiRoot2.zip....

Which rom exactly? There are currently a total of 3 including the RUU. On the Superuser app check if there's a update for the binary.

Does TWRP ask you to install SuperSU when you try to exit it? I haven't tried on Lollipop yet, but I know when I've been running stock unrooted in the past, TWRP would prompt me to root when I restarted to system.

This method seems to work just fine for me. After installing supersu in TWRP then opened supersu selected TWRP and it downloaded the latest binaries and flashed in TWRP and worked fine after reboot.
I RUU'ed today to the newest Sprint M7 version. After downloading TWRP Manager got message that TWRP needs root permissions. Downloaded WinDroid, used it to flash TWRP. then used it to gain root access. WinDroid did not work for me on Windows 10 Tech Preview. Went to other hard drive with Win 7, and worked great. The thing I have noticed is that Root App Delete will not uninstall the Sprint bloat, or the Google crap (movies, TV, books, etc).

Unfortunately it does not. I even tried Philz to see if it would root and it's still a no go. Philz said I was rooted and just needed to download superuser from the play store. I downloaded super user and it says I need to root my phone.

From my understanding, that has to be done by a ROM and/or kernel developer.
So this morning I got this maintenance update and now I'm being told that an update is available and that this install is differed. When I click on "select to continue update" I'm told my system is up to date. I've already wiped cache, which did not help. Anyone else experiencing this?

Nope, totally stock Verizon 4.4.4. I'm so far out of the loop, I didn't even know I could unlock and root in the first place.

There does not appear to be an FXZ for this.
You can try flashing stock Recovery.img onto your phone and take it. Unlike other OTA's that failed due to Xposed, this one did not give me any issues installing with Xposed still enabled.
NOTE: I'm unlocked bootloader, rooted, running TWRP, with Xposed instaled (MotoXNetActivity module installed). I haven't made any other modifications. I only run apps that require root like AdFree, wifi tether for root, Root Explorer, etc.

Thanks, I think this answered my questions in the other thread.
Is there a risk to try running the update with stock recovery and other Xposed modules like Gravity Box? Would they fail similarly to a failed system check like I've had in the past for removing/renaming system apps and such?
When I had my Nexus 5 people would make flashable OTA files to be used in TWRP, is no one doing this any longer? All I can find is how to sideload the OTA.
Thanks

Ok, so, I got my phone updates, however, I had systemless xposed working on it, MM 6.0.1 (MOB30M) however when I went in to try and enable the modules, it gave an error (a long one) so I thought that maybe I didn't have the correct version installed, or wasn't rooted right, so I went back into recovery, re-rooted, and installed 85.3, now it says that xposed isn't installed at all. So for now, I went back to my 5.1.1 restore. Any ideas?

You have to reflash xposed. It is in the system partition so you will have to redo it after making room as google now fills up the system partition almost completely.

was the systemless updated to work with the new security measures built into the update? You have to remember that with each update google is making things like xposed harder to get working. It is well known that sooner or later xposed all together will no longer be an option.
So I would check all the changes that the update did to see what it changed. I nor most the people I know have not used xposed in a long time so I really cant say for sure

I'm on 6.0 right now with TW recovery, root with SuperSU and Xposed v85, I want to go to 6.0.1 latest version, what would be the best was to do it?
Shall I uninstall xposed, unroot and get stock recovery and then just try to install OTA or is there another way?

I set the Xposed app to install via manual flash because the other two methods kept freezing my phone. But I can't find the zips! Can someone please tell me where they are supposed to be and where they might be if they're not there? My device is a Samsung Galaxy S2 HD LTE (SM-i757M) on 4.0.4.

I have to flash it, the "Classical - Write to /system" and "Auto-flash" modes don't work. I just can't find where the app put the zip for me to flash manually.

Omg m8. I INSTALLED THE APK. The "Classical" install method and the "Recovery (Automatic)" install methods DO NOT WORK. There is also a "Recovery (Manual)" method. The app WRITES A ZIP TO THE INTERNAL STORAGE. Then you FLASH THAT ZIP. I cannot FIND that zip. That's what I asked for help with. As I said, I know you don't normally flash Xposed with a zip unless you're on Lollipop or above. I've been doing this for a long time, dude. I just can't find the zip the app wrote to the internal storage, and the app doesn't have a way to find out. Jeezus.

It freezes during the install, but if you leave it for long enough it complains that it couldn't mount /system as rw even though it has root permissions and other apps can mount it as rw (I used ES File Explorer to delete some sounds and it worked fine.) As for the automatic flash method, it just never reboots. I guess calling the reboot action is just incompatible with my phone and/or ICS. Or maybe Philz Touch doesn't support it? I can't be sure.
Now that many 5C models have the emui 5.0/nougat update, has anyone tried rooting it yet? Also is it still the case that Xposed is still not available for nougat??
yeah theres no android N xposed even abdroid 8 is coming already... i dont see point on rooting without xposed since theres no root adblock apps.
I like to install sound mods and I use lucky patcher to remove ads and get in-app stuff, freedom app as well. They all need root. Just downloaded open kirin twrp for emui 5.0. It's been deleted from xda posts but seek and ye shall find. I also have the revolution recovery twrp for nougat but although it worked for emui 5 beta, apparently it doesn't with the proper release. I downloaded superuser for emui 5.0/nougat so now I'm going to do various backups and give rooting a go.

waiting for official ota is good to be sure that region is correct so youre able to make calls and text, but NEM-L21 has only one region so it doesnt matter if you use official OTA or use proxy method.
Okay so I have successfully rooted my phone by flashing super user zip file through twrp! Be careful though, I and some other user noticed that restoring backups from this TWRP will result in a phone with no sound at all. I don't know if this is fixable, factory reset don't put it back to normal.
Other than that, this TWRP seemed, but I can say for sure. In any case, DO NOT RESTORE BACKUPS from this TWRP.
