[Q] Semaphore 2.9.9 governors issue - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello there,
just flashed the new semaphore 2.9.9 kernel on my i9000 after getting the cyanogenmod 10.1. On the official semaphore website they say there are 6 governors, but when I use the semaphore manager app only 4 are displayed. Performance and Powersave governors are missing. Anyone a solution?
Thank you,
linuxfusion <#//>

I don't know if this will fix your problem, but there is a new 2.9.10 version out, you can find it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1786220
Maybe you can try installing that and see if it fixes your problem. Sorry if it doesn't help though.

Overclocking kernel for CM 5.0.7/8?

Hello,
I´ve searched for a overclocking kernel for the latest CyanogenMod to increase cpu clock up to 652Mhz (or at least: to try it). I have found the "UNIVERSAL OVERCLOCK for ANY ROM-- Wifi Fixed Version 2.0.1".
It works, but wifi won´t start anymore. Are there other kernels to try?
The only one I've seen and tried is on droidbasement site, I think.

Same thing happened to me with that kernel... thatnks to a Nandroid backup I was able to go back to normal. Still looking for a god multitasking kernel.
I'm not sure why you're having a WIFI issue.
I am using a 5.0.8 ROM with the 2.0.1 OC Kernal on my MyTouch3G and it is working perfectly.
I also tried it with multiple Donut ROMS and it works perfectly. Maybe try a full wipe a reflash? Or maybe try a CyanogenMod Rom to test.

[Q] Kernel Help ?!

I want to flash a Kernel that is oc/uc -able(just to 1.3 Ghz) which is compatible to Darky´s Rom 10.1.
I am looking for that quite a while now, but finding kernels seems to be a lot harder than finding Roms. I came across the Damian Gto and the Glitch Kernel (on Xda forum) but it seems like Damian does not support 2.3.3 and the Glitch Kernel is only for MIUI ?
Could you please help a desperate noob?
thank you
If I am corrrect from memory Tegrak have a kernel that allows oc/uv they have a few apps on the market to also control it. I know they have some for JVP/Q. Darky 10.1 I believe is JVH I'm sure they did one for JVH.
Good Luck
I will look into that and try to help!
thank you
I used the Tegrak OC app, which works but is not really stable.
And Yes, you are right Darkys 10.1 is JVH based...
Why are Kernels so difficult to find? especially for Gingerbread?
I am still searching...

Just updated to CM9 - problem with setCPU scaling governors

Hai,
I just updated my O2X from 2.3 to Android 4.0.3, and CM9.0.0-RC0-SelfKANG3-Optimus2X. I've restored setCPU via titanium backup, and i cannot set scaling governors in main window. It looks like screen that i've posted in attachments.
To be sure, thats its not becouse of kernel that im using, I've checked file that show available governors ( it shows 2 - performance and powersave).
I'm curently on ironkrnL48-20120218h2043_ics kernel.
I've tryed CM9 KANG1 rom, and problem exist aswell.
ps. Which kernel you recommend with this governor, that rapidly increases CPU clock when needed? :>
// i tryed to google this problem, and i didnt find the answer.
thx.
Governors are useless on our phone, Arcee stated it long ago in CM7 threads, and had be confirmed by many devs.
So don't bother with governors, as we lack specific NVIDIA sources to recompile kernel with proper governors (and other that exists on other CPU), CM9 kernel is only a hack between GB kernel and Android 4 sources.
There is Ironkrnl work for P990, and faux kernels for P999.
Also, vadonka is working very hard on his ICS version of ETaNa Kernel. So in the near future, we will have another kernel to choose from.
So just use SetCPU profiles
selfkang2 + 48mb ics kernel gave me random reboots after battery went below 50%

The same happened to me on temasek's 204-67 CM7 kang. On 204-66 I had two governors available in the drop-down: performance and powersave (if I recall properly). Now the dropdown is just empty.

I confirm - I flashed new kang but left the same kernel as before (vadonka's ETaNa-REV1, 18FEB one). So it seems that something changed in the system, not the kernel.

I followed the instructions here to install my CM9. SetCPU seems to work fine for me. Maybe you can try the kernel that's included in the instructions.

[Q] Can't overclock CM 9.1 or don't know how?

I've just went to an CM 9.1 from the CM Website, as I love stable ROM's not trciked and laggy ones. I've flashed Semephore 1.3.0 Kernel and theoretically i should get the ability to OC my device, as the scripts were installed in the right folder. But even with and overclocking app i don't get a function more than 1 Ghz to OC. What else should i add to this ROM or what should I change? Or if this ROM is incompatible with semaphore's Kernel, please tell me.
Edit:
I found out. Semaphore kernel has built in Semaphore Script Manager and it's installed as a system app which can be accessed from the app menu.

Actually, you are using the CM kernel. Speedmod gets overwritten when flashing CM (also, speedmod only runs on 2.2 based ROM).
Now that being said, Devil kernel does allow you to overclock (OC) but it is not recommended. If you phone feels sloppy, chances are that it's cause of something else (too many apps/widgets, low internal memory, etc.).
Devil has their own thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2135091 ; Easily found with a little search
