My father has this phone on tmobile... And is having major issues with phone not ringing and he can't hear caller when he answers calls. I run a gnex unlocked rooted running 4.2.1 Carbon rom. Will unlocking and rooting his phone help these issues. Or is this a known hardware issue with phone. Or will he have to get a new one... Thanx for any responses. New to thread live on gnex threads tho. Lol

Well I occasionally have this problem, but really rare. I am on root box 4.1 and the in call volume is outstanding, but still have the occasional problem of the phone not ringing. Could be pressing a button while its in his pocket/case or might just be a big with the phone

It is not a known problem with stock or rooted and custom rom. If the problem exist I suggest taking it back to store for replacement before going in rooting and custom rom as that voids warrentry and highly doubt rooting and custom rom can help it. That sounds like a flaw in hardware not software.

Def thought same thing... Jus figure id ask the thread first.

All my vibrations aren't as strong I guess you could say. And the haptic on the 4 bottom buttons don't vibrate at all when I press them, but what's weird is it makes a slight click noise like its trying to vibrate. Whhat should I do? I updated my cm6 nightly and it didn't change. I'm about to try a different rom. Is this something HTC would fix?

Really? Not a single reply wtf. Would they fix it? Its rooted

If it's hardware, they'll fix it assuming that it wasn't a software issue that caused the hardware. When I sent my unlocked/rooted device in for rebooting issues, they repaired it free of charge.

Honestly you probably do deserve to be deleted because of this thread.

Haha. I originally posted about a WiFi/BT bug but I fixed it.
Basically I was having wonky WiFi/BT where when using both, they would both freak out after 15 or so minutes. This was WiFi and BT devices such as MOGA controller and Motorola S10 headphones. Audio would skip and delay sync with video, WiFi would stop seeing any networks, controller would serious lag inputs, etc.
I've been screwing with various ROMs and kernels but nothing worked.
The solution was to flash back to 4.1.2 stock and upgrade to 4.2.2 naturally before rooting and reflashing my fav kernel and rom.
Something must have been screwed. Anyway I couldn't delete the thread so I just changed the title and the OP to say to be deleted.
Anyway, maybe it would be of help to someone. I've heard several people complain of similar issues. Even MOGA replied back saying they had lots of complaints about the issue. It tortured me for months.
I also relocked/unlocked so it would format everything.
Using the same exact rom/kernel combo (smooth ROM / lean kernel) as before and WiFi/BT is flawless now.

I don't see how that could fix it. I upgraded to 4.2.2 stock before rooting and loading a custom ROM and I have the wonky issue. Didn't know it till I was trying to stream Pandora to my headphones while at work today.

Me neither. But its gold now.
I did it because I have 2 N7s. One stock 4.2.2 and my SmoothRom 4.2.2 that has been rooted since launch and flashed. After mine kept causing issues and died one night, I grabbed my sons N7 and paired up my BT devices with no issues.
So I figures since his was newer, it either had to be the stock rom or maybe updated hardware. So I completely wiped, locked, unlocked, rooted, flashed all over again. Now I'm good.
Perhaps something in the official upgrade process loads extra data to extra partitions or some bootloader? I dunno.
Even tonight I played an hour+ with my MOGA.

Don't know if this is a common problem with the phone or just mine. This happens on all the ROMs I have flashed including unrooted stock. I believe it may be hardware related, or possibly due to our stupidly limited ram this phone is packing

That's safe headset volume kicking in. It's designed to keep your ears safe lol. What rom are you on? If you're on slimbean, you can turn it off by going to settings>interface>sound>uncheck "safe headset volume"
I am on super nexus, it happened on slim 4.1 as well as unrooted stock. I'll check out the safe head set
Samsung Galaxy Super Nexus Exhibit
nice to know, i will try turning safe volume off, it happens to me on all roms
Happens to me too. I just never put my volume past 10 in the music app and that fixes it.

I am FINALLY eligible for my upgrade and am most definitely moving on from my E4GT to the One. I am not getting the S4 because my S2 went through a few problems because of the plastic build quality. But I was on the Sprint website browsing through reviews of the One and a few people were saying they were experiencing dropped calls but were blaming the One and not Sprint because only on the One were calls dropping and not another Sprint device. Is anyone else experiencing this or is it just something to ignore? And what about the build quality now? The thread about the gap issue has been quiet for a while so that either means HTC fixed the gaps or people just stopped reporting it. Can anyone who bought the phone recently (around late May and June) confirm that the gap is fixed? Just excited for my One and want to clear things up. Thanks
EDIT: And what about the battery? The battery for my E4GT messed up after about 10 months (battery was swollen and was draining) and had to replace it. What if that happens to the Ones non-removable battery?

Awk it's almost 3am where I am and I didn't even read the whole thing lol
Lets see, i've never had a dropped call with my One, then again I never experienced dropped calls with any of my spring devices, unless I was in terrible coverage. The build quality of the phone is superb and yeah there is a small gap but thats never hurt anybody. And lastly about the battery, i've never had a battery fail on me but with all devices if it does fail you'd just take it to sprint and they'd either give you a new phone or a refurb since it would be covered under the manufacturers warranty. Hope this helps

Lol its almost 4 AM here but yeah thanks it did help! Maybe the people who were having dropped calls just were in spotty coverage. And its good to know that Sprint will be willing to replace it if the battery fails. Thanks!

Also how can I transfer my apps' data from my E4GT to my new HTC without TB? I don't want to root my One right away because of all the people on xda getting their phones bricked. Is there a way I can move the data of my apps from my S2 to the One without root? (My S2 is rooted though)

Bricks??? I've rooted 4 One's and haven't had a single problem. It was the fastest and simplest root of any of the Android devices I owned. HTCdev.com unlock, install recovery, let twrp install superuser or flash Rom, DONE! Maybe 5 minutes.

I am just posting that the on board speakers died on my phone. They aren't blown as headphones don't work either. I can only hear anything on a regular phone call as speakerphone doesn't work either. I have restored my one to stock as I am doing a rma on it. Anyone else ever experience this?

Do you have bluetooth speakers? Try that and if it works it's probably the amp imo. If it doesn't it might be your audio driver. Either way your probably going to have to get a replacement or a repair.
Have you called HTC and troubleshooted with them yet?

Yea I contacted AT&T my provider and they are shipping me another one. I had cm10.2 on it when it stopped worked but even returning it to stock had no effect. I just posted here to see if anyone else had experienced this issue.

Not closely similar to this, but I'm about to claim for the SECOND time that the top speaker is junk. The first phone it blew leaving it distorted and fuzzy. This one, all of a sudden overnight it sounds like a crazy vibration coming from the speaker. Kinda hard to explain... But it sounds absolutely terrible. So I'm going to fastboot the RUU and see if that makes a difference. If not its going back for another
