Hey guys i thought i would share a simple fix for the touchscreen problems that people are having. I used to have some problems with my touchscreen on stock, basically sometimes the right side of my touchscreen would be difficult and unresponsive. Im not sure what happened, it seems that after i flashed the Codenamesammy ROM it started to have these problems. I though my first tablet was just faulty so i returned and recieved a new one. I flashed the same rom on it then went back to stock and was having similar problems. I thought to myself that it was a software problem, so here is how i solved it.
Fix
Unlock and root your tablet if have not yet. Flash This using TWRP or CWM.
How it works - Im not entirely sure why this worked even though i was in stock and it had stock drivers. Anyways it replaces the current drivers with the one in the build it has posted.
Credits - I give complete credit to the one who extracted these drivers and posted them.
Thought i might help some of you out with your problems before deciding to RMA it. If this does not work for you then it might be the actual hardware.
Is it still working?
Has anyone tried this fix and can confirm if it has worked for them?

Looks like a grounding problem to me, don't think that can be fixed in software.
Thats deff a screen issue hardware related.
For me, this problem is solved : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ArlV8jTdkRM
video is buggy because my galaxy s is bad
People shouldn't really have to repair their nexus tablets on their own and run the risk of voiding the warranty. You should all have it under warranty.
For me I would keep returning it until I receive one that no longer has any defects, even if it means returning 10 of em. This way Google would see a high amount of returns and hopefully do something about it.

I don't have the issue, but I'm on franco.Kernel + Team EOS Stable ROM + JRO03R Binaries. I thought I noticed the issue on stock though, but I could be wrong.
I have same this issue especially when the device is heated .. the touch unresponsive in the center..
But I return my N7 to the warranty before i see this topic..
Thank you

what issue were you having?
I was having dead spot issues. The screen not reading my touch, but now after update i could have sworn i saw a horizontal line flash across the screen. Never seen it before I've only noticed it once though.

Didn't fix mine... when i touch either side of my screen it thinks i'm touching both sides. Gonna have to RMA T_T
This unfortunately didn't resolve my issues, as can be seen here. Is there any other attempted fixes for this issue? If I reboot my device it seems to work dine for a while, but after several hours of being on, it experiences these problems.

Yes, I have. Those videos I took where after I had flashed the new drivers.
Still getting touchscreen issues after flashing over cm10. In fact it may now be worse. Now I get ghost taps and swipes, apps have a mind of their own. Fortunately turning the screen off and back on seems to clear it up though.

Amidst all the threads with 4.2 bashing and complaining and websites calling 4.2 the worst since Honeycomb, I wanted to just say that 4.2 is the best version of the OS to date. I've been sole on Android since 2009 with the Droid release and had experience since eclair. A major gripe I've always had with Android is that regular reboots were required to keep the system running efficiently. Custom Roms were required to have good features. But Android has matured to the point of greatness.
I have a De-Odexed version of 4.2 with not one reboot in over 100 hours on my Nexus 7 and Ive been draining the battery to at least 10% each day. (I use it a lot Lol). This is something I would never have been able to do on any other version of the OS. It is fast, stable and very efficient.
Way to go Google... Can't wait for the next one
Don't worry, it's always the same handful of whingers. Besides them, there are millions of satisfied owners...
If there were a company in the market who had changed their business model from innovation to litigation,
and they had more cash than any other company on earth,
you would think they might be spending some of that cash throwing up FUD for their competitors.
No one says they have to play fair.
Same here, really like and enjoy 4.2.
Of course there's a couple of bugs, esp. with new features, but that's nothing unusual and they will be fixed.
On another note: would you mind telling me how and what you used to deodex 4.2?
Wanna mess around again the ROM but the tools I got barely worked on 4.0 so can't even think of using them on 4.1 or even 4.2.... :-/
Appreciated

I just prefer 4.1.2. I just haven't been whining about it all over the forum.
The only feature that I actually used on 4.2 was the keyboard. So I downgraded back to 4.1.2 and just flashed the keyboard. And 4.1.2 performs better on my device.

I love it. Chrome seems light years faster.
As much as I would love to give my thanks to google for this update I can not. I've been using android since cupcake and one of the biggest fans. Eleven different devices running android over the years. I am always one of the lucky ones and don't have the issues others complain about, untill now.
I've had my n7 since launch and it is the only android I never bothered to root as it was perfect from the start and I had little use for my rooted apps. After the ota I had constant hot reboots and a somewhat flawed ui (not that's a real complaint as much of that was supposed to happen) not to mention worse battery life and slower charges.
I was forced to root, and am happy I did, alrdeay running three different custom roms and pretty impresses, much more so than googles official 4.2 update
This is the first time that in my opinon the update was worse than the previous.
So I guess I like it as it finally made me root my n7!

I quite like 4.2 the only thing I would like added is a restart option on the power button. Have had some random reboots but its nothing major for me and as apps get updated they are getting less frequent.
I don't think I have ever bashed a release version in over 3 years of solely using droid os.
Cursed a few custom ROMs tho

Did you perform a full wipe after updating to 4.2. If not it might have been some incompatible apps making your n7 do the reboots and other things. By the way do you have an 8 or 16 GB n7? I have 16, and haven't had a single problem after updating.

I dont feel like saying thanks google because its their job. and on one side am happy on the other i wait for 4.2.1 to fix all the bugs ..so its balanced
I haven't had an issue with performance at all did a clean install from a image and been great.
The only thing that I find useless are the " quick settings" cause they are not quick making a five step process into a four step process is not quick

A full wipe doesn't help. I did one before installing 4.2. I haven't had a reboot since I uninstalled HD Widgets, but it hasn't been that long. It may not be causing the problem, but it certainly does seem to make the problem come to the forefront.
Well I have noticed that HD widgets are fine until you use a lock screen widget then all hell breaks loose.

Greetings all.
I recently got a new sgs3, so my cappy was just sitting there.
So, even though I was still updating it, I was not really using it.
So I basically have made it a multimedia device.
I have it set on airplane mode with Wi-Fi on. Its got my music and a few games on it. I also loaded audible.com app on it and I sync all my books to it. Since audible now syncs where you are in books, this is a fantastic feature.
What do you use you're old cappy for?

Is there ea ROM specifically designed to not be a phone? If not what ROM are you running old Cappy for non phone functions.
I've also considered use as a dashcam, but i think it might invite break-ins lol.

Simply keep the phone in airplane mode, the less widget possible and have it on conservative = best battery life for non-phone functions.
For games although, you might not wanna have it on conservative. On demand is a great middle.

I would assume they would be. Unless there was a hardware change, I would think you could fastboot flash a 4.1.2 os to it, of course providing you fastboot flash the earlier boot as well. This is speaking in regards to grouper, because I have no idea what the os progression of tilapia was.

Downgrade...haha.

The 4.2 issues have mostly been from upgrading, and have been cured by a data wipe. Yeah, it sucked for people who don't like reinstalling apps, but that's what Titanium Backup is for. Getting a fresh 4.2 tablet shouldn't cause you any worries, so feel free to enjoy it. A little patience will pay off as those few apps work out their compatibility issues. And, hey, isn't the bleeding edge the point of a Nexus anyway?!?
If you do have problems, flashing a 4.1.2 image shouldn't be a problem.

Yes you can! Just download the original firmware for 4.1 and use one of the tools available, dont remember the names. Not sure if you can get 4.1.2 though, but 4.1 no problem! 4.2 is the first android release that I dont think is an improvement from previous versions.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Upgrade the tablet once you get it, before installing apps. Or do a factory reset after upgrading. That cures 99% of the problems out there. No reason to stay with a lower firmware..

Although Google has told you not to downgrade units shipped with 4.1.2 or later to 4.1.1, due to hardware issues. 4.2 may/may not work.
Hey all,
I recently (2 months ago) got a brand new HTC One. It's been great so far, love it.
Only issue I have is last week it started going to Speakerphone mode when making calls and receiving them. All I have to do is turn off the speakerphone to get it back to earpiece but it's slightly annoying.
I've tried resetting the device to no avail.
I'm running on the Rogers network in Canada running Kit Kat.
Any ideas would be great.
Thanks!

The weird thing is that i have been on 4.4.2 for a while now via ViperOne and this issue has just recently popped up (or so it seems to me). So not sure if this is related to sense based rom running 4.4.2. or something different.
Well I do feel slightly better that I'm not the only one. But also wished I wasn't part of this so special group. Ha!
After a little googling people seem to think it might have something wrong with the docking mechanism.

Mentioning the dock makes me wonder if those who've looked thru the call settings have looked thru the dock settings to see if there is an option there to open with speaker phone on? Or in the headphone or bluetooth settings. My feeling for looking in these places is that if for some reason the device thinks it's connected to one of these devices that could be changing it's behavior? Anyway, I don't think I'm having this issue but I rarely get calls and usually when I do I use speaker phone, but I'm also pretty sure that I'm having to turn it on also.

So i guess this is a general sense 4.4.2 issue then and not custom rom, kernel, other specific. Strange that it seems to only start after a random amount of time as i deffinately did not have this issue for quite some time after upgrading to 4.4.2 based rom.
