[Q] A Question about banding of the screen - Galaxy S III I9305 (4G LTE + 2GB RAM) Q&A, Help &

I have just got an i9305, and I am wondering if it is normal or it is the "banding" problem. How does yours look like in that page?
The android version is 4.1.1

That's totally normal for that screen with stock kernel.

It's not a fault it's a feature...

It is so different from the screen capture. It looks a lot "blue" and banding around the bottom. I am worried if there is something wrong with the screen......

A feature?

It's just a low dpi picture of framework.res
Flash that via CWM and see.
The creator release two zip's one black and one like default but with better dpi.
I have now only the black one.
Thanks

no problem. all i did was change the orientation of the animation so it was horizontal, then adjusted the height/width ratio to fit the screen. problem was the animation was designed for a phone screen so it loses some resolution when it gets resized to 1280 x 800.

does anyone else have this?
there should not be one, all the image files are 960 x 600 and resized to 1280 x 800 through the desc.txt file. im not seeing it on my xoom when i reboot.
I am thinking he is confusing your version with the first one. Your version is fine for me.

[Q] JB -grey status bar -how to change?

Hi guys,
I think the new JB is great in all ways except one, I hate the new grey status bar. Is there any way to change it black or transparent? I know that this "problem" has been fixed on other Samsung devices like SGS3 or Note, but what about SGS Advance?
Unfortunately I am not an android expert and don't know what files should be modified for this. But I think it is as simple as in the other Samsung devices. Could somebody from the expert guys handle this?
Tnx in advance!

Actually the grey status bar is a bug...I got it yesterday too...please do a complete factory reset,cache/dalvik wipe in stock recovery...the actual status bar is black...the bug gives the whole rom a peculiar grey tint...also the transparency elements are hampered...everything was solved by the simple factory reset and cache wipe...plz try it...:good:
hmm interesting
I did a factory reset before and after installing JB, but I will try once more.
maybe it will help...
(the only problem is I have installed all apps that I needed and now the phone works well...now I have to reinstall everything )

Well its just a personal preference.....I like having larger screen space...changing ppi to about 170 gives a decently large screen-space without much loss in image quality to my eyes...
This is not a bug, it's a feature.
Samsung deliberately changed the color of the statusbar to darkgrey so the Amoled pixels on the statusbar are ON like all the other pixels of the screen so they all have the same level of wear.
This way you won't get a different color on that bar over time.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1897351
Anyway this is why they changed it for the SGS3

Needs some dark themes. About to go blind.

Even at low brightness every thing is way too bright /contrasty. I want a dark lock screen with light lettering, for example.
Go back to kit kat
just wait for CM12 to finish, or Foxhound rom to be built.
You guys could at least hop over to the Team Blackout thread and get their Updater app and that way you'll have access to blacked out and cleared out apps. They theme a ton of popular apps. I've got the black Hangouts and black Keyboard among many others and it's great.

Dark lock screen? Couldn't you just set your wallpaper to just an all black image? That would give you exactly what you're asking for.

Probably. Just an example. The notification boxes still show up as white background with black text. Another: Tapatalk set to dark mode, menu choices don't show up.
Just need some themer who remembers how to do it the old way, flash systemui in recovery. We been so used to the theme engine in custom roms.
There is a theme thread in the N5 forum that they do just that on lollipop.
I am waiting still on my N6 but still got my N5 and it works good, all the white crap is gone.
SlimLollipop from Slimroms need to come here soon!

Nexus 6 Amoled Display Artifacts [THREAD CLOSED]

I've had my Nexus for only 2 days and I've noticed some artifacts on my display. I've included screenshots using Screen Test app which show some horizontal lines on my display and also vertical lines but these are more vivid on the device itself they don't seem to show so much in the screenshots. These lines are visible regardless of what I use as wallpaper. Anyone else having this issue or is this normal?? Will this clear up over time or do I need to send it in for an RMA??

LMFAO....
Ok, so because you are obviously clueless about the distinction between hardware and software, any visual artifact caused by the AMOLED display **CAN NOT** appear on a screenshot.
Those lines you are seeing are due to the DITHERING algorithm used to generate the gradient that you are displaying. Gradient = the progression from white to black through multiple degrees of gray. This is a function of SOFTWARE, not hardware. RMA will do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for this.
I understand there are different gradients, this is different, what I'm seeing is lines gradient or not but they are obvious even when not using the screen test app, they are visible everywhere at anytime doesn't matter what background or wallpaper I'm using. There are vertical lines also that look like they are baked into the screen.
Well then send it for an RMA? i dont see what your purpose of this post was, to ask if its normal to have baked in horizontal lines? its not.
i dont see any lines on my display, so i would sent it back for a replacement. i guess i was one of the lucky few with a device with no issues, the only issue i found was that i did not get any lollipop with the device, see here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/help/missing-lollipop-nexus-6-t3046877

I definitely cant see anything on the screenshot. As for the camera photos, its tricky because they are a little pixelated, probably due to the contrast.

I think it might be a good idea to go to an optometrist to make sure that the lines aren't caused by your eyes.
Your going to have these vertical lines had them on all amoled screens. But if your seeing them on say like your home screen and other places I'd get a replacement. But if you only see them say with just a white or gray screen I wouldn't worry about it. If you want you can try this app out on Google play... Amoled burn in fixer.. Good day
Thanks for your comments guys, I believe I do have an issue with my display therefore will proceed with a DOA replacement. Cheers

It would be much easier to spot any problem with your display with a uniform dark background. The current black background with non uniform white patches is a bad choice.

What? "Another app" implys you've downloaded one in the first place
I think your mistaken in thinking his wallpaper has the gradient actually in the image, it does not. It happens with any black wallpaper !
This has been happening as long as I can remember on my Sammy devices... It does not effect live wallpapers therefore you set your wallpaper with a live wallpaper app that lets you choose your own image.
That's all

Wait.
Are they talking about the gradient looking thing at the top of the screen? That's normal for the statusbar to do that. There's an app called L Speed (for rooted devices) that lets you disable it since it's a RAM flag that creates that effect.
If it was screen burn-in, we wouldn't be able to see it in a screenshot, lol (which they do, but because it's software related, baked into the phone's settings).
