When I first got my Nexus 7 for Christmas it took me a while to find a case that I liked that:
1) Rotated landscape & portrait
2) Well built
3) Was affordable
I finally settled on the FINTIE 360 Rotating Vegan Leather Stand Case with Automatic Sleep/Wake feature from Amazon. I have been using the case now for nearly two months and still love it. It is well built, rotates easily, and is stable in both landscape and portrait positions. I also holds the Nexus 7 firmly and I do not have any fear of it falling out. With that said, it is easy enough to remove from the case as well.
It is currently selling for $11.99 (with free 2 day shipping if you are an Amazon Prime member). Here is a link to where I bought it from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008Z824CQ/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
There are 8 colors to choose from. I bought the black one.
For around $12 to $14 bucks with how well it was built I have am very happy with the case.
Here are some pictures of it. I know these are factory pictures but they really are very accurate an do the case justice...probably much better with what I could show with trying to take pictures of a black case ......

Could you post a link? Im having troubles finding sellers that ship to Sweden.. bastards here sells the same chineese cases here for atleast 300%+ higher prices.
pics and a link would be nice.
I've been sitting in front of the computer looking at cheap/affordable cases with the features mentioned in the first post. I cant seem to find any real brand names selling this kind of case. I started looking for a model from Targus since that is the brand of case that my brother is using for his ipad and its a solid quality case. But to my disappointment targus don't have a model with 360 degree rotation for the nexus 7. So I went to ebay and searched for nexus 7 case 360 and found a lot off cases that looks like the targus 360 ipad case but for the nexus 7, so i went to youtube to look if i could find any reviews off cases with these features and looks. One of the cases i found with at least two reviews was the MoKo 360 Rotating Case for Nexus 7 both youtube users that review the case bought it at amazon and its available for £12.99 (amazon.co.uk) or $16.99 (amazon.com) I have not checked if they deliver to Sweden. I might just try and order one of the cheap ones of ebay, the cheapest that look like the targus 360 ipad case is only £4.52 with world wide shipping. But i will wait and see if I or one of you guys can find a good case before I make a decision.
Edit:
Forgot to mention that i could not find the "FINTIE 360 Rotating Vegan Leather Stand Case with Automatic Sleep/Wake" on amazon.co.uk and that's why i started to write about the Moko
Sorry I did not include a link, but I couldn't when I did the original post. I have now included the link and pictures up above in the original post.
Over the month....I have had a friend, my Sister In Law, and a coworker, see my case, ask about and order one. They so far have all been very happy w its price, quality of build, and functionality.
I did ask what they didn't like about it as I wanted to post their concerns here, but none of them had any concerns. One did say they wished it had an extra elastic strap positioned just right for a hand when the case is folded back....but she said that was more an improvement suggestion, not a complaint.

European-UK alternative for the Fintie case
I thought you might be interested in an European alternative, from the UK. I have been using the case made by Proporta for 2 months. From what I see from the above pictures, it is almost identical to the Fintie case, except for the lack of pen holder. It is very well made, fits the case perfectly and the magnetic on-off switch works as intended. You can find it by searching "proporta nexus 7" on the following websites (I can't post direct links): proporta co uk and amazon co uk.

since this is sold through google play store, will any store such as amazon.com for instance sell cases and such, the galaxy tab 2 7.0 has pretty much no cases and if they do there just kickstand type cases. mabye if this gains popularity it will get actual cases like otterbox and stuff.
Yes, there will be cases but i wouldn't expect a large number to be available till the end of July
No doubt they'll be plenty of case options in time. Just subscribing to this thread so we can share all that comes out together here .
I'm in Canada so the case on the Google Play site isn't available to me, it just says to enter my email if I want to be notified when it's available.
I was wondering how much it's listed for on the US Play site?
Just trying to get an idea if I should bother to wait until it's available or just get a cheap generic 7" tab sleeve type case until more options come out.
Nexus 7 Cover (Dark Grey) $19.99
the case in the US store is $19.99 but in the UK store we dont have a price yet hopefully mobile fun or amazon will sell erm
20 bucks isn't too bad, although I'll probably just wait for a $2 TPU case from Hong Kong.

That's what I'm planning on doing, but I think I'll splurge and get one with a stand for $3
Uh-Oh
Um, I'm in the U.S., but I'm getting a Coming Soon for the case. I don't want to pay another fourteen dollars for shipping when it does come back. What should I do? Does anyone else see this? Did they really run out of cases before tablets?:crying:
I am hoping I can order a 2 dollar silicone case from amazon and have it ready when the device arrives
Pretty much every major device release sees the accessories out before the device gets into peoples hands.
I always find though that no matter how much I spend on fancy otter boxes and targus leather cases I end up using my $2 TPU case with the cheap screen protector it came with.
Never mind, the case is back up. And, I ordered ASAP this time. My $200 tablet turned into $300 by the time I paid for shipping and taxes, but it's still worth it.
Omg these cases are so lame I can't believe people buy into this. Preordered one and not gonna baby it

Update: Asus put out its own press release on the Nexus 7, and there's a few details in there worth noting. Covering the front of the Nexus 7 is a layer of Corning FIT glass, while the display itself features Asus "TruVivid" technology. There's no details on what, if anything, that means in reality — but the Nexus 7 does have an IPS display with a 178-degree viewing angle. Asus also claims up to 9.5 hours of battery life; that's more than Google claims, so we'll have to wait until our review to see how it performs in reality. Lastly, there was a little more detail on the new "smart cover" — it's polymer with a matte texture, and will come in six different colors.

Default Google Case
Im in Japan right now and am not able to see the default Google case, or even purchase it. I had one of my co-workers purchase the 16GB Nexus and the case from Google for me so it will be waiting for me when I get back to the States . I've looked at a couple pictures of the case, but haven't found any good ones.
Does anyone know if the case has a stand? I saw that it was a flip case, but I wasn't sure whether or not it was similar to the Apple Smart Cover.
Thanks in advance. I can't wait to get back to the US!

I got one of these until some products hit the internet that are specifically designed for the N7
Want to create a list of genuine leather (not PU) sleeves and cases.
Found this on ebay, haven't seen it mentioned here before:

Sena has some nice but pricey options:
http://www.senacases.com/google/nexus-7/
Using a repurposed Boxwave Elite sleeve I had for an old Kindle in the meantime, but it is synthetic. They seem to have added a bunch of new cases for the N7 that might fit the bill.

I'm using my Kindle Fire case that I got from Joe V Leather: http://www.joevleather.com/store/index.php
Fits well but covers the headphone jack.
I emailed the company and they are working on a Nexus case.

I heard back from Vaja that they are planning to make a N7 case, but no timeline.
Also would also recommend Noreve cases made in France.

Also can be found on Amazon
http://www.amazon.com/Asus-Google-N...F8&qid=1353087299&sr=1-2&keywords=noreve+case
I would highly recommend the Noreve case. So good in fact that I may just get another one, in a different colour and finish. I am beyond pleased with that thing.

Seems one of the drawbacks - which your Noreve case doesn't have - of all these stand-up folio style cases are that the lower portion where the case folds & clips onto the corners of the Nexus seems to clasp very tightly.
Thus making it difficult to stand the N7 up quickly or easily because push the clasp down & extracting the N7 to stand it up is difficult.
I never feel the need to "stand it up", so I don't mind. Whatever fits your needs, I suppose.
http://www.kevikev.com/Yoobao-Executive-Leather-Smart-Cover-Case-for-Google-Nexus-7-LCGOGN7.htm
For example I would hate something like this, for two reasons :
1. The border around the frame is just downright ugly. Not only that, but it also takes up too much of the screen.
2. The thing on the back which allows it to stand up is ugly too. Even when you put it flat down on the tablet it'll be wobbly because of it.
To each his own

Just finished my quick review for The Gadgeteer, it'll be up in a couple of days but as a sneak peak it's fine. I can hold the case upside down and the Nexus doesn't fall out That being said I normally carry or store it on it's side anyway.
I'm looking for a sleeve that will fit with the tpu case. Any ideas?

The Saddleback one will, because it's leather and will stretch to fit whatever you put in it. It will be tight initially but will eventually mold itself nicely.
My final review of the Saddleback Medium Gadget Pouch is here. Any questions ask away.

It was already proposed
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31250411&postcount=12
along with a similar one but the problem is that you need to buy at least 100 ... wholesale manufacturer
I asked the manufacturer (one week ago) if the cover properly fold all the way back, and if the auto sleep/wake function is triggered when the cover is fold back. still waiting for the answer. I also asked the ebay seller US Mobile Mall if they were interested in selling them, but no answer ...
Speaking of similar cases from alibaba wholesale seller I also found:

While I really like the originally posted case, that second-last one that you posted, NicoGa (canvas-style), is a dream case for me. I was looking for something softer, but most cases are either black/white leather or hot colours, so that very pretty case you found is perfect for me! Thanks a lot. I will order one and see how it works out.
That last case is also very nice, I like the gold colour a lot.
I prefer the official Asus Nexus Travel Cover to this.
Any news on that case? Anyone found it on ebay yet?
IT's not leather, it's FAKE!!!
Darn,
Just like some other vendors from the east, this one is also advertised all over as leather until you dig way down into the specifications.
Item name Google nexus 7 case, leather case for google nexus 7
Item number ST-GN7-CA018B
Materials PU
PU stands for.... drum roll please....... Poly Synthetic Leather. There's not even an atom of cow hide in that case. It's just like it sounds, pee yew.
Bad form Sintech!!!!
Not everyone needs a pure leather casing, I am totally fine with PU in this case. The outside doesn't even look like leather anyways.

I don't disagree with what you posted, I also have a PU case (Blu-Rex slim fit). It's that the OP was sure it wasn't "pleather", Rather than someone rushing out to purchase what they thought was a "real leather" case, it would be better if they purchased it for it's other merits, since it is not "real leather".
I like the design of this case. I can deal with the PeeeYuuuu pleather to have the bezel free design.
Oh I like this style, reply if you the find a place to purchase! Ebay and Amazon does not have any news Why?
Color me interested.
I wish the op would update the subject.... Pleather is not leather.
Wow, looks sexy!
Purchased a nexus 7 32GB for $175 plus tax ....now need to get a case and a good screen protector. I see some brands
Moko,Bluerex seem to be around $15 while poetic is $9.99. Any recommendations? Reading the reviews I see people complaining about the magnet issue and also i dont know if these cases support 360 degrees or work only in landscape mode?
Hi, I would advise you to take a look here.
My personal recommondation would be a Noreve case. Expensive, but the best in my opinion.
Poetic case from amazon is the best for a smart case. You won't be upset if you get one.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Seen a few.
Get the poetic slimline case. Trust me.
Best bang for your buck.
Saw some guy who dropped his N7 with a poetic slimline and his screen cracked...
Don't drop your things just because they're in a case.
But seriously, it offers complete protection on all sides from scratches and mild bumps, not from concrete...
It functions as a stand, automatically turns your screen on and off, and isn't too expensive.
http://www.amazon.com/Poetic-Slimline-Portfolio-Automatically-Manufacturer/dp/B008NMCPTQ
I have the Portenzo book cover case. Little to no protection on the sides but will protect it in daily use.
I've pretty much had them all. The Poetic was my last case. I recommend them to. Offers a little more protection but cheaply made.... it will fall apart after a few weeks. They have a 3yr warranty and have replaced mine with no questions. Not sure if they still offer that.
I've also owned the Blurex and the TPU cases. All are nice cases but it depends on what you want. I wanted front and back protection with a minimal addition to thickness (Portenzo). If you want something like a smart cover then the Poetic. Basic back protection would be a cheap TPU like a CruizerLite. Coupled with a good screen protector like a Spigen SGP might suffice. The Blurex offered the most protection but was the thickest.

Poetic Slimline
I have to concur that the poetic slimline case is pretty awesome.
I too am a new Nexus 7 owner, though I didn't get such an amazing price as you. This is actually my first smart device... first touch device in fact (not counting my ipod touch 2nd gen which came free with a family members computer). Android really kicks ass, and the Nexus 7 is a pretty amazing device.
360 rotation case
I thought I would suggest this case to you or anyone new looking for a case. I was looking for a rotatable case that would still provide the desired level of protection. I didn't like how some of the cases required you to remove the bottom corners to fold or, only held the tablet in with a couple of elastic bands. I don't know that it has an official name, I got it on eBay for about $20. It was from the UK so it took a little longer for shipping than it normally would have but well worth it. It came packaged with a stylus and a few screen protectors (But, I always get a zagg for the screen). The features included a sleep/wake cover and an industrious button that attaches the actual device's case and the cover it rotates on instead of a metal ring resting on the back of your tablet as you rotate. I decided on the white one and the stitching looks great. A really good case, and I have had my nexus 7 for almost 7 months now taking it back and forth to college.
Send me a PM if you want the link I'm a new poster otherwise I would post the link in the thread.
Seriously, just get a Noreve case. A bit expensive yes, but you get what you pay for. Offers fantastic protection, smart cover function works beautifully, and it's hand made genuine leather with a ton of colour options. Here's my review for it if you're interested.
thanks to all suggestions, i ended up getting bluerex case as that comes with a screen protector from amazon. Also got the eForCity Micro USB OTG to USB 2.0 Adapter Compatible with Google Nexus 7. However this cable is pretty tight and i fear it might damage the micro usb port (already see some scratches). This cable btw only recognizes a flash drive but not a portable hard drive. Wondering if i should return it.
I have a Portenzo bookcase. Pricey, but I highly recommend it. I don't have another case for comparison, seems much better than the typical case I see on other people's tablets.
^^ seconded. I also have a portenzo. I went with the bookcase for full side/corner protection and aesthetics. love it.
I also have two handmade sleeves from etsy.com for when I want to go "naked."

Strange that no one mentions original ASUS case, which is really excellent quality and practical, beautiful and comes in several different colors! I bought one (not the cheapest here in Czech) and am completely satisfied.
The ASUS case is pretty terrible in my opinion. No sleep/wake function, and the top doesn't latch down securely. Way too expensive for what it has to offer. Much better choices out there for the same price or even cheaper.
Found a universal one today. Waiting on the official sony case, this will do for now.....

Krusell case
I have this one, it is very good.
It was quite expensive but I am happy with it and after using it for a week I think it is worth the price.

Official Sony. Great!
Very nice, somehow I ended up with 2 Official Sony cases, black and white, I was going to return one of them but I ended up keeping both. Awesome product.
Where do you guys buy the official Sony case? I can't seem to find it on the online store or amazon
if you have fam living in Canada, store.sony.ca has it in stock SCR28B/W
for some reason, the US website is not available.
Hi jekojello,
Here are the links for Amazon
White - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N9VTR4C/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Black - http://www.amazon.com/Sony-SCR28-Xp...TF8&qid=1419369434&sr=1-1&keywords=sony+scr28
Let me know if this helps!!
Thanks!!
Mike
Just bought a Z3C Tab and need a super slim case which does not add much bulk.
If anyone has the official SCR28 - would they recommend it?
Not to fuss about high level of protection - slim fit is the most important factor.
I dont like buying a super slim tablet only for the case to bulk it out too much.
Thanks in advance for any replies!

Darn - ordered it yesterday afternoon from Amazon UK - delivered this morning.
Sorry.
Have to say, early impressions that it is a really good case - quality finish. Not to bulky but not quite as sleek as I was perhaps hoping for. e.g. my last A8-50 genuine Lenovo case was very slim and my colleague's Nexus 7 (2013) likewise.
From the photographs I thought it would be moulded rubber/plastic but it appears to be faux leather bonded to rubbery innards.
I have owned several tablets over the past few years and usually I would baulk at the price of the genuine cover & get some cheap 3rd party. Invariably I would find them too bulky and felt they would ruin the portability of the tablet. But, more recently I started buying the genuine case when on offer etc and find them a much better sleeker fit.
Overall I would give this 4/5 - and I would say is worth the £22 I paid for it.

This is my case. It is very well made, has ballistic nylon, and a zipper around the edge. I know the description says it is for 7" devices but it holds my Z3TC just fine. It's easy to remove from the case if necessary and also has a kickstand function. I'd highly recommend it. I got mine at Wal*Mart for around 20 bucks.
Customized SCR28 official cover
see my post here, I modified the SCR28 in order to support the magnetic charging without opening the cover.

Thanks. I was tempted to modify mine too - like I did with my Z1 Compact CaseMate - but decided against it in the end, in case I did not get a clean/neat finish.
I only tend to charge my Z3 tablet once every 10-12 days so can live with leaving the cover open.
has anyone bought a poetic slimline case for their z3tc? i cant find them anywhere (the poetic cases website has a 'pre-order' option which is strange considering how long the z3tc has been out) and don't really want to pay ~$50 for the official Sony case. I've had a poetic slimline case on my N7 and really liked it, especially because it was ~$20.

I have this case for my Z3 Tablet Compact: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/for-...-Z3-Tablet-Compact-free-1set/32243659269.html (in green)
Quality-wise I find it identical to the Poetic slim case I have for my Nexus 7 2013. In fact I went looking for a poetic logo on it when I thought to post about it then remembered I bought it from aliexpress.
It's cheap, feels like quality, fits device well and isn't falling apart, I like it, I'm no longer looking for a new one.
