cases/covers

since this is sold through google play store, will any store such as amazon.com for instance sell cases and such, the galaxy tab 2 7.0 has pretty much no cases and if they do there just kickstand type cases. mabye if this gains popularity it will get actual cases like otterbox and stuff.

Yes, there will be cases but i wouldn't expect a large number to be available till the end of July

I'm in Canada so the case on the Google Play site isn't available to me, it just says to enter my email if I want to be notified when it's available.
I was wondering how much it's listed for on the US Play site?
Just trying to get an idea if I should bother to wait until it's available or just get a cheap generic 7" tab sleeve type case until more options come out.

Um, I'm in the U.S., but I'm getting a Coming Soon for the case. I don't want to pay another fourteen dollars for shipping when it does come back. What should I do? Does anyone else see this? Did they really run out of cases before tablets?:crying:

Pretty much every major device release sees the accessories out before the device gets into peoples hands.
I always find though that no matter how much I spend on fancy otter boxes and targus leather cases I end up using my $2 TPU case with the cheap screen protector it came with.

Never mind, the case is back up. And, I ordered ASAP this time. My $200 tablet turned into $300 by the time I paid for shipping and taxes, but it's still worth it.

Omg these cases are so lame I can't believe people buy into this. Preordered one and not gonna baby it

Update: Asus put out its own press release on the Nexus 7, and there's a few details in there worth noting. Covering the front of the Nexus 7 is a layer of Corning FIT glass, while the display itself features Asus "TruVivid" technology. There's no details on what, if anything, that means in reality — but the Nexus 7 does have an IPS display with a 178-degree viewing angle. Asus also claims up to 9.5 hours of battery life; that's more than Google claims, so we'll have to wait until our review to see how it performs in reality. Lastly, there was a little more detail on the new "smart cover" — it's polymer with a matte texture, and will come in six different colors.

Default Google Case
Im in Japan right now and am not able to see the default Google case, or even purchase it. I had one of my co-workers purchase the 16GB Nexus and the case from Google for me so it will be waiting for me when I get back to the States . I've looked at a couple pictures of the case, but haven't found any good ones.
Does anyone know if the case has a stand? I saw that it was a flip case, but I wasn't sure whether or not it was similar to the Apple Smart Cover.

I've not bought any but i've seen a couple and i just find the leather look dated! plus some of the designs add too much bulk imo!

Yea, I have done my fair share of searching. I just want something to protect my tablet on the go, a pouch is great for that. No zippers, metal/rough edges, just neoprene .

This pouch is great, has space of accessories (e.g. my OTG cable and headphones) and it fits really well.
the flap at the top is a bit tight to undo as you have to turn it inside out but that will loosen up over time. overall i'm pretty impressed, hopefully the images i've attached will be of some use

got mine today, looks great, i hope it will endure the foldings you have to do to open/close it.

I've got a Cruzerlite case on mine and wondered how easy it would be to insert / remove from a neoprene case - anyone have any experience with a case? I like this one, but saw some really cheapy ones similar to it on eBay for A DOLLAR, SHIPPED:

What makes this worth $20 compared to the dollar neoprene case? I'm not being harsh, there were people on the Cruzerlite thread saying the same thing about $5 TPU cases and the Cruzerlite not being worth $20, but I liked the Android Clone Army on it, okay, so there.... Just want to know why I should go with this before I spend the money, I like the second pouch on the inside, but if you're not planning on bringing cables with you, is it worth it?

As for the reason that this sleeve is different from other cheap ones, as mentioned in the first post: The sleeve has an extra layer on the inside to store accessories.
Cables, headphones, OTG cables, memory cards, etc...
I would definitely buy other cheaper ones if there were any out there. But it is the only one I found with such a feature. Just thought I'd share .

It is definitely NOT that tight.... I have a TPU style case on mine and it isn't nearly tight enough for me to be worried about cracking screens or tearing the neoprene case - no need to worry, you aren't buying from some cheapy manufacturer, if something tore on it, I'm certain Amzer would replace it

Mine definitely WAS that tight - tired pulling it different ways, setting device in front of or back of seams, etc - tried pulling on angle cuts, pushing in depth first, etc - mine was TOO tight after many tries, sent back.

Seems one of the drawbacks - which your Noreve case doesn't have - of all these stand-up folio style cases are that the lower portion where the case folds & clips onto the corners of the Nexus seems to clasp very tightly.
Thus making it difficult to stand the N7 up quickly or easily because push the clasp down & extracting the N7 to stand it up is difficult.

I never feel the need to "stand it up", so I don't mind. Whatever fits your needs, I suppose.

For example I would hate something like this, for two reasons :
1. The border around the frame is just downright ugly. Not only that, but it also takes up too much of the screen.
2. The thing on the back which allows it to stand up is ugly too. Even when you put it flat down on the tablet it'll be wobbly because of it.

Just finished my quick review for The Gadgeteer, it'll be up in a couple of days but as a sneak peak it's fine. I can hold the case upside down and the Nexus doesn't fall out That being said I normally carry or store it on it's side anyway.

I'm looking for a sleeve that will fit with the tpu case. Any ideas?

The Saddleback one will, because it's leather and will stretch to fit whatever you put in it. It will be tight initially but will eventually mold itself nicely.

I asked the manufacturer (one week ago) if the cover properly fold all the way back, and if the auto sleep/wake function is triggered when the cover is fold back. still waiting for the answer. I also asked the ebay seller US Mobile Mall if they were interested in selling them, but no answer ...

This is the best case yet and you only need to buy 20 cases. Its too bad I can't get a sample cuz Id definately buy 20 cases and sell them on Ebay if I knew that they were atleast the quality of those Blurex/Moko/IBlason Slim Folio Cases.

While I really like the originally posted case, that second-last one that you posted, NicoGa (canvas-style), is a dream case for me. I was looking for something softer, but most cases are either black/white leather or hot colours, so that very pretty case you found is perfect for me! Thanks a lot. I will order one and see how it works out.
That last case is also very nice, I like the gold colour a lot.

I prefer the official Asus Nexus Travel Cover to this.

Any news on that case? Anyone found it on ebay yet?

I don't disagree with what you posted, I also have a PU case (Blu-Rex slim fit). It's that the OP was sure it wasn't "pleather", Rather than someone rushing out to purchase what they thought was a "real leather" case, it would be better if they purchased it for it's other merits, since it is not "real leather".

I like the design of this case. I can deal with the PeeeYuuuu pleather to have the bezel free design.

Some vendors will start bringing out cases around the time of the international launch. If you look at Chinese reviews, you see that cases are included with the Chinese versions.

Mine come with case.
Gold phone + gold case (not nice color...)

Mate cases already available on Amazon,but these brands are not really famous.

There is one made by Huawei. Got it online here though.

Perfect fit, good grip, but very slim, not very protective.
Anyway, I like and use it.

have the same, received it together with my phone i like it as well, actual phone color shines through, very tight fit and indeed has a good grip on it.

I wonder if there is a chance to get some cases from some major producers out there ... At the moment it's a poor choice especially in that "armoured" ones.

For those of you who are trying to get the most protection out of a case, Love Mei has a case for this device.

I got a smart window case with the 128gb I bought, but only used it one day. Now am using an ultra thin tpu transparent case I bought from Aliexpress. I bought another from Amazon that was a little thicker, but prefer the one from Aliexpress. I am not big on using cases. A clear screen protector was already pre-installed, but looking for a full coverage tempered glass. I ordered one from Aliexpress, but still hasn't delivered.

The transparent clear case that a lot of sellers sell is not enough. It's too loose and the lip over the screen isn't enough. I dropped mine IN THE CASE and still put two dents in the bottom of the phone by the speaker. I would recommend something else. I bought this one as well and it seems to be good.

This is a very protective and perfect fitting cover, I bought it but I preferred a slimmer one (see post #8).

spigen hard cases are awesome, although i switched to a soft TPU case for my mate 8 now, since my last spigen hard case left some aberrations / scratches on the sides of my previous Nexus 5 after years of taking it off and putting it back on...

Guys there are allot of cases in China, you should check out AliExpress (Chinese Amazon). They ship worldwide and it's cheap.
