Hi Everyone! I was wondering if anybody purchased GTA 3 today? (It just came out!)
The Droid 3 wasn't listed on the supported devices, but I can see it in the market, and I was wondering if anyone picked it up and has it working on a D3?
Thanks!
It says its compatible with the Droid 3, will try later.

Does it? I didn't see it on the list of supported devices.. and unfortunately nobody has a review of it saying it works on the D3 (why don't people like this phone, it has a freakin keyboard!)
Whatever, I'm buying it anyway... should work on my transformer if it doesn't work on the D3
FYI, the game crashes right to the home screen after the title screen comes up. Looks like it doesn't work
What I read was that there's like 4 version.. GTA3, GTAIII GTA 3, etcetc. And some seem to work on some phones while not working on others
It doesn't work, looks like they aren't supporting OMAP/PowerVR phones yet. But there is hope as they are adding support for the Galaxy Nexus an OMAP/PowerVR phone, and I imagine that release will support similar phones. NFL 12 did this. I would have thought OMAP/PowerVR would be the first to get the game since this seems to be where are the new phones are headed (or at least the Nexus series), but I imagine porting a game takes a while so who knows how long they've been working.
Hi all...
Verzion 1.1 works on my Droid 3 without problem.
I must use apk + data for i9000
I tried play the game with HDMI output on my TV and......GREAD
wow it really does work
Tried it on my bionic and it doesn't work. Crashes.
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using XDA App
I have a few glitches...trees are giant green blobs, glass doesn't show up, and the graphics seem lower quality. But still glad it runs!
Version 1.1 is working, I had to obtain the apk since the Android market says its incompatible with the Droid 3 yet Rockstar says they added Droid Bionic support (spec wise they are practically the same)
Graphics are good but laggy, I downloaded them on my phone over wifi. Either way its still pretty amazing that a game that required then then pretty new PS2 can now run on a phone 10 years later.
The nice part is some of the keyboard buttons work, but I don't see a way to remap keys in the options.
The arrow keys work and also:
w - look up
a - look left
s - look down
d - look right
f, enter - enter/exit car
c - change view
space - jump (brake in car)
Where did you find the apk? I tried installing 1.1 from 2 different sites and both did not work. I will eventually purchase this, if Rockstar ever makes a compatible version...

GTA 3 camera FAIL
UPDATE: 1.1 works.
Ill confirm this is working. No lag on mine running CM9. Smooth as silk!

It works until I touch the screen and try to skip beginning videos/animations
1.1 works okay a bit hard to control but still fun. I have not tried 1.2 as of yet rumor is it runs on all devices but idk
I bought it from the market today. It's on sale for the holidays at $2.99. Seems to be working fine. When I first installed, it froze during the opening video and I had to do a battery pull. But now it's working great.
I just wish they had a keyboard shortcut to punch/shoot. But using W to accelerate and the arrow keys make it very playable.
Im happy that I saw the copy I bought on the first day back in my "not installed" list.. I hated using the copy I downloaded. I want the updates immediately!
Still have giant crazy block trees, but it runs better now
Oh man, used to love this game on the pc! Totally getting it!!

In the latest version of gta3 they introduces the ability to adjust the visuals. It runs at full quality on my touchpad, but is shown as not compatible on the market.
Seeing that it works fine on the xperia play, I know that it would run fine on the nexus s (perhaps with lower quality).
They may expand compatibility to the nexus s in the future but for now, are there any compatibility fixes?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Well i bought it when it came out and they since removed the support for nexus s. It was also very buggy, so that you could not even start the game. Later versions fixed a lot of bugs and even improved upon several things, but our nexus is stil not compatible eventhough it can play it fairly well. Hope that it gets fixed in the near future

Deleting audio folder for me makes the game run flawlessly on v1.2.

Yea! audio makes it lag like HELL. but when i change the rom and reinstall the game it needs to download the game data again
Hmmm. Well I don't remember that happening to me. Do you accidentally delete the game folder when changing roms? And if that's not the case then maybe copy over the 500mb folder to PC and put it back in when you've installed the rom. And if it still has that issue....then I guess download the content over and over again....haha. Or a simple solution is to stop changing roms you flash junkie.
Originally came out for iOS a month or two ago, came out for Android today.
Showing as incompatible for my Xoom running Eos 2.0.0, but compatible for my Nook Tablet running CM9 so I bought it and am going to try and side load.
Is it showing up as compatible for anyone on their Xoom on a different rom?
Edit: Sideloading seems to have worked, downloading the hundreds of mb worth of stuff now. So if you have a device that is compatible, you should be okay. Note, that sideloading without purchasing likely will not work, as I'm pretty sure it still checks to see if you purchased.
Edit2: Download is complete, game is running and looks great.
I noticed a little lag when you get the mission complete menus that pop up, but game play is really fantastic.
So I just checked the Play Store website, it's actually showing up as compatible with my Xoom now. Anyone else seeing it that way?
showing up incompatible here aswell running cm9 nightlies

Yeah there are 2 versions on the play store. The $5.01 version is incompatible, the $4.99 version is.

The $5.01 one is for the Netherlands, as indicated by the developer Electronic Arts Nederlands BV.
Mass Effect!
Looks pretty good for the trailer but I hope the high end aspect of the game compares from my pc gameplay to my xoom tablet. Installing and downloading 348 MB of data then ill have it up and running

Ever since I got my 8.9 Galaxy tab I've noticed issues with the Google Play store. Things like the HBO Go app not being available for it, but if you were to go behind the Google Play and manual install the Kindle fire's version it would work beautifully. I've ran into other apps that are not available for me, but are for similar devices. Now I'm noticing google is offering magazines, but they are only for 7 & 10 inch devices. Which makes no sense to me since you can buy a whole range of monitors for your computer and that doesn't seem to affect what your doing on it.
I guess I'm used to a world where to run an app you only need to have the correct OS and hardware to run it.
Why does android applications seem more concerned with brand name of your device and the screen size?
magazines
Looks like just after my post they updated my Google Play to allow for the purchases of magazines. It still seems that there are issues with the Android Market when it comes to compatibility that don't truly reflect if your device is compatible or not.

Google Play has been like this for a long time. Developers may wish on allow their app on confirmed working devices and will place restrictions on who can download it. While this helps keep their ratings higher from incompatible users hating their app. It leaves less popular devices out in the cold regardless of compatibility issues. But its why we have apk files and friendly xda members to get them for us
Hbo go updated their app it works now

My tab 8.9 does not want to load anything! I have tried clearing cache , clearing data, factory resets, still nothing!!!!
Ok I just have been coming across something very disturbing. Games I had purchased and played on my Streak 7 (even after Honeystreak R8) are now showing up as "Not supported Device" in the Play Store. Examples: Final Fantasy III, Galaxy on Fire THD, Siegecraft THD.
Basically things weve had for a long time on the Tegra Zone are no longer showing up as supported. Im starting to wonder if Google is doing this vs the devs. Anyone have some info on this or your results? Thanks. (If its a honeycomb thing.. Im tempted to go back to 2.2)
Add another one.. That new Spectral Souls.. all my devices (Even my G1!) show as supported.. only one that isnt. The Streak 7.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...blazingsouls&feature=apps_topselling_new_paid
You could search for a version of Google Play that has been modified with the device restrictions removed. They are all over the forums
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Final fantasy III - compatable with all devices
Galaxy on fire II THD - only compatable with S7
Siegecraft THD - only compatable with S7
Blazing Souls Accelate - compatable with all devices
Spectral souls - compatable with all devices
Devices tested against:
S5 - Paranoidandroid 1.1 (4.0.4)
S7 - CM9mod (4.0.3)
S10 - CM9mod (4.0.4)
V - CM7.2 (2.3.7)
Touchpad - CM9 (4.0.4)
Bluestacks - virtual machine (2.3.5)
At least with the THD versions, it's compatable with my S7 but not my S10, even though my S10 is also a tegra2 (likely due to the fact that CM9/S10 is still missing a lot of video accel stuff)
Did you change your DPI or something? That's usually the cause of everything being marked incompatable
Well non of the THD stuff show as compatible on my Streak 7 now. As for DPI. I just changed a lil while ago from 120 to 106, which seems to be nice for home screen and so. Then I DID try changing it back to 120. Rebooted, went back into market, still didnt see it in there. So unless I am missing something? What DPI did you all keep yours on?
That was the reason: using a non-standard DPI = your device is incompatable with 95% of the stuff on the market.
You MUST use 120/160/213/240/320 if you want to be able to install stuff from market.
It takes a little time for it to register that your dpi changed, could take a minute, could take a day.

Seems like a good option.

I use on my Gnex on a 241dpi(stock is 320) and it works after any DPI change... just clear cache for market I think, and read the threads for trouble shooting

Ok Ill try this back on 120 then. What was everyone else using on their streak 7?
Edit: Ok changing back to 120, then clearing cache and data. Then WAITING 5 mins seems to have done the trick. Kinda odd about this. Didnt see any mention of this in the R8 thread or so as an issue. Just always had wondered. Then tried 106 since in notes I read, talked about youtube and gapps needing that to work right. Sucks too.. cause homescreen finally looked decent after I saw this.
So really wondering if everyone is using 120 or if there was something better.
