2G only mode? - Motorola Atrix HD

how to select 2g or 3g only mode in stock or joker. "select network" function is disabled, any1 know how to activate that function.

On Atrix HD, JB 4.1.1, AT&T have been able to force different modes with LTE Setting by Ryo Ueshima even though that app was developed for Sony Xperia. Nostalgic to hear static in nearby speakers when on GSM.LOL. Resets after restart of phone and perhaps at other times, and may behave differently on different providers. Just started testing today but seems OK.

[REF]/[PRJ] Updated: 7/24 Entering Service Menu / Hidden Setup Menus

Team,
***First off I am not responsible for damaged that occurs to any phones. Make sure you know what you are doing before making changes!!!***
I was having an issue with the mic gain recording distorted live concert audio so I was wondering how to access extended features on the Galaxy S.
The following is the code to dial in to access the hidden Service Mode menus.
Example how to access menus:
Dial *#*#197328640#*#*
This allowed me to adjust the mic gain to get better audio recordings at loud live concerts.
There seems to be several hidden menus on the Galaxy S and I am wondering how many more there are. Which led me to post this thread.
If any of you can find more hidden menus post them and i'll add them to this OP.
So far I know about:
Hidden Menus:
Service Menu: *#*#197328640#*#*
GPS Hidden Menu: *#*#1472365#*#*
Battery and General Info: *#*#4636#*#*
GTalk Service Monitor: *#*#8255#*#*
LCD / Speaker Test: *#0*#
Factory Data Reset: *#*#7780#*#*
Camera Information: *#*#34971539#*#* (Do Not Use The First Option "update camera firmware" you will break your camera)
Change Power Button Action: *#*#7594#*#*
Show IMEI Number: *#06#
Be careful in Service Mode that you know what it is your changing. If you hork up your phone you can reset it by doing a Factory data reset in Settings / Privacy / Factory data reset.
I would do a nandroid backup before making changes if your just experimenting.
I will add reference material below as I can:
________________________________________________________
Service Menu:
The following popular data communication technology is associated with each cell carrier type:
GSM = GPRS (2g), EDGE(2g), UMTS(3g), WCDMA(3g), HSDPA(3g) {Cell Carrier examples: AT&T and T-Mobile}
CDMA = CDMA*(2/3g) EV-DO(3g) WiMax(3/4g) {Cell Carrier examples: Verizon and Sprint}
Preferred Network types:
WCDMA preferred - The GSM phone is capable of using both 2G and 3G data communication and when signal strength is low 3G is favored more.
GSM only - The GSM phone is capable of using only 2G data communication. When the 2G signal is too low you get nothing at all.
WCDMA only - The GSM phone is capable of using only 3G data communication. When the 3G signal is too low you get nothing at all.
GSM auto (PRL) - The GSM phone is capable of using both 2G and 3G data communication and when signal strength is low 2G is favored more. This one is a bit confusing to me since PRL is associated mostly with CDMA technology and not GSM technology.
CDMA auto (PRL) - The CDMA phone is capable of using both 2G and 3G data communication and when signal strength is low 2G is favored more.
CDMA only - The CDMA phone is capable of using only 2G data communication. When the 2G signal is too low you get nothing at all.
EvDo only - The CDMA phone is capable of using only 3G data communication. When the 3G signal is too low you get nothing at all.
GSM/CDMA auto (PRL) - Some phones are equipped with both GSM and CDMA capabilities. This setting appears to just have the phone attempt to stay connected to the data communication type that works the best. (Maybe the Samsung Galaxy S will take advantage of this???)
Unknown - If none of the above fit or the phone is acting weird as far as connecting to the carrier, you will see your preferred network type is set to this.

There are quite a few test .apk's in the system.app folder I'm sure each of them can be launched with a specific code.
Updated OP with more codes

I'm just wondering specifically what settings you adjusted and to what level to make this possible?
Just got home from a show and tried recording a short bit to see how it came out before potentially wasting my time doing the whole set, and the sound is terrible.
Itd be interesting. if we can access the volume buttons so we can use this to access the lock screen instead of just using the power button

I've found another one which is related to Touch screen Version Firmware update...
*#*#2663#*#*
with adw launcher you can long press on the desktop, create shortcut to a custom activity without the need of secret codes

Has anyone been able to successfully keep the phone on the 3G only setting like my slide could and always got great 3G signal? I set this on my vibrant and it goes back to the GSM and CDMA (PRL) setting and jumps from 2G to 3G all day long.
anyone know if there's a way to disable or at least turn down the sensitivity of the noise reduction through these menus?

[Q] glitchy One, wifi not connecting, can't make calls, data very slow

I'm not rooted, and have stock ROM. It's a SIM-Free HTC One. Connected to EE network in UK.
I've got a fairly new issue that I just noticed in the last week. My HTC One is my second phone so I don't use it as much, but I'm at a point where I want to get rid of it due to the following issues:
I can't make calls, it would sometimes connect but i can't hear anything. This doesn't seem to be a network issue as a user with an iPhone5 seems unaffected.
I can connect to my 5Ghz WiFi network, but not the 2.4Ghz one, it just saves the password but won't connect. I've also noticed if i disconnect from the 5Ghz network, restart phone, i can make calls and hear the other side.
Using Data network, it doesn't seem to want to load anything, it shows 5 bars HSDPA and either goes incredibly slowly or just doesn't load at all.
General performance issues, everything would become incredibly slow, stuttery and incredibly annoying to use. yesterday the device crashed and restarted.
Any ideas what I should do? Try a full reset (ugh...) or is the device faulty in some way and I should contact HTC Support?
go to the dialer and type
*#*#4636#*#*
choose phone info, scroll down to the only dropdown box and select the correct setting for your provider ( wcdma preferred if you don't have a 4G contract)
and then back button about 4 times and try it again
It seems to be the way it should be: GSM/WCDMA/LTE Auto. I was in France a week ago and it had serious issues roaming and data roaming, i had to change it to GSM/WCDMA auto or WCDMA only to make it work. and now back in UK, i set it to the same setting it used to be before I left.
On a side note, I have realised that EE is having data network issues in my area. I tried the SIM in another Galaxy S3 and it had difficulties loading websites, but, it COULD make calls without problems.
Also, no crashes as of today on the One, I still can't connect to my 2.4Ghz wifi router. Could the fact that I was using 5Ghz somehow messed something up inside the One?

HK version stock - Network mode lock issue - LTE/CDMA mode only

I'm using a MODed stockRom for HK. As the 'Wi-Fi Calling' function breaks when the phone switches to LTE, I'm trying to set the 'Network mode' to 'CDMA only' while at home as my reception is terrible and I can't have a normal conversation over the mobileo network. However, it seems to be stuck on 'LTE/CDMA' w/o any opportunity to chose another option.
Does anyone know of a MOD that would fix this, or maybe a setting to change to allow it?
I would appreciate your help.
2G/3G/4G Switcher (Widget and Battery Saver)
I found an Xposed module, 2G/3G/4G Switcher (Widget and Battery Saver), that seems to work. I have been running it for about a week, and a seemless transition from 3G to 4G is done automatically when the WiFi connection is lost. It's more convenient than I expected.
As far as I can tell it's the only product of it's kind - all other need some type of manual intervention.
However, as Xposed doesn't work with ART, and Wi-Fi calling is not yet available for AOSP, I'm stuck with the stock ROM, and TouchWiz, any other Launcer seem to break the Wi-Fi Calling toggle.

[Q] App to switch between 2G/3G and LTE ? XT1053 T-mobile doesn't have it :(

Hey guys!
I bought a Moto X Dev Edition, XT1053 with the Tmobile rom i guess.
Thing is, when I got to preferred networks options, I only have "Automatic - 2G".
Automatic would be LTE/3G/2G. I do not have the "middle" option to toggle to 3G/2G, as most phones with LTE support do have.
Hence, either I have ALL bands or just 2G. The problem here is that in my country LTE is being deployed right now, so signal is really week on most places and having my Moto X in "Automatic" REALLY drains my battery. I have to use it with 2G and then switch to Automatic when i need it, which is really annoying. Basically, I really need the "3G" option that most phones have, which involves 3g or 2g depending on signal strenght.
Thing is, I need an app that would let me choose either if I really want the Auto mode (all bands, being 4G preferred) and also being able to choose 'WCDMA preferred', which is the mode my XT1053 is missing and also the mode I'm needing right now.
*#*#4636#*#* code doesn't work on my Moto X. Also I looked at PlayStore and there's a bunch of them, neither of them really generate trust on my, as they are old and receie really low opinions. I don't want to start messing around with apps and broke something here
I read on another forums that "Radio Switcher" works this out, but I saw screenshots of it (didn't actually tried it) and, aside being a really outdated app, it does have the "wcdma preferred" option but do not have the "auto" mode for all bands together (as I think some day I will use, when 4G signal becomes more strong in future).
Do you guys know a cool and updated app that would let me choose between "Auto" and also "WCDMA preferred" (the one missing in my phone) ??
Your help will be really appreciated.
Thanks so much!!!!
Well, I ended up installing Radio Switcher and for my surprise it works perfect!
If I want to use 3G preferred (the option the XT1053 stock doesn't have) I select "WCDMA preferred". If I want to use just 2G I choose "GSM only" and if I want to use the "Auto" option that my XT1053 have, I choose "LTE/gsm auto (PRL)" option.
So, I'm good now. The only problem is that Lollipop seems to have changed this hidden menu, and all these apps are outdated, so I might be in trouble again when I get Lolli in the near future.

Question Prefer LTE & Missed Calls

I'm running xiaomi.eu 13.0.8.0 on my Note 10 Pro currently, though I'm not sure it matters for this.
When I have the Preferred network type set to "Prefer LTE" my phone locks onto LTE towers with a poor signal, typically around -117 to -123 dbm, ( > 2km away, 0-1 bars). Sometimes calls work, but often I get reports that people aren't able to call me, and if I make a call it may take several minutes of retrying before it finally switches to UMTS or GSM and the call goes through. There is a strong GSM signal close by, but it typically refuses to use it and prefers the unusable LTE signal instead.
Short of setting it to "2G only" is there any setting that would let the phone switch to a usable signal, when LTE is so bad?
VoWiFi might help in this case to get around the problem, but I haven't gotten that working, either.
reset phone settings. prefer it
redmi note 10 pro same device as yours and I know as I am facing another bug, same would U bcz firmware is latest I have debloated many apps from adb pm.... command.
A Bug I know exist most people wont know is about Cellular network Band. It adds jitter in connection.
And I have solution for that one but that require root. maybe not
But Trust me I know problem Thats it we can find solution
To know the problem, It is actual in band selection. If u check it and find a fix please share it here.
I am writing my fix here
---> Download app from Playstore called "Hidden Settings For Android" to see the problem.
---> now search "band"
U have to use little brain and see all three selections name.
---> FUN read this " Two system apps called System settings and Miui System settings have control over band selection. Right!
---> One open settings for band selection and other opens settings for band selection as same as we think but they are different apps and have different data storage settings they override each other if u select one band in one settings and two in another make both their selection buggy.
By default when i didnt found this I was experiencing bad network.
Then I selected same band on both settings and keep them open in background and by network run back to normal * more faster than other devices on same network provider
As soon as I remove both from background, later bug starts to happen again.
Interesting. I ended up getting vowifi working by contacting my service provider and asking them to enable it on my SIM. So I keep the phone in airplane mode with wifi enabled when I'm at home. That's working much better.
I did try "Reset Wi-Fi, mobile networks, and Bluetooth" before, several times, but it didn't seem to make a difference.
