What kernel do you have? by the way there is official JB now
You can use PC odin to install ICS stock.. but will beed wipes before that so make sure you have safe kernel ..
I have philz kernel. So can i just flash stock ICS rom over jb rom?
if you have philz kernel.. first boot into recovery and .. then Philz settings > clean before new rom install...
once done.. choose advanced and reboot download
this will put the phone in download mode.. connect to pc and flash rom using odin
Ok thanks i will try
Ok.. by the way there is official JB now.. why you going to ICS?
Maybe I'm or i just I don't know something but you say I can just flash official firmware over leaked version yes?
yes. but its recommended to perform wipes

hello guys ... i need a help to flash this rom ... but situation is.....
first i am with stock 2.3.6 and then ota updated to ics ... then rooted and by mobile odin i used to flash speedmood kernal ...
so i am with ics ...then i flashed a ics custom rom by using abyss kernal...
now i am with custom ics firmware... so can i flash this gb custom rom ???
if yes how ??? like again using abyss kernal...full wipe and flash any custom gb rom ?
switcing from custom ics to gb will give problem
Which ICS custom ROM are you on?
You can use PC Odin to go back to Gingerbread and then root it and flash a custom GB rom.
Or you can flash Abyss and then reboot recovery and flash a gingerbread custom rom. If you aren't on a stock ICS rom, you can probably just flash gingerbread rom from CWM (like if you are using CM9, franco kernel, or speedmod kernel).

This rom uses an unsafe kernel but for now there is no evidence that a kernel flash can hardbrick the phone. However, I think it's safer flash a secure one (like last speedmod or franco's which should be safe) with odin or mobile odin (extract the .zip until you have te zimage, then flash it), then flash a GB rom.
Otherwise, you can still flash a GB stock rom DIRECTLY ROOTABLE with odin (or MO), then obtain root + cwm and finally flash a gb custom rom with cwm safely.
Gingerbread custom ROMs
Hello Friends, I have asked this question before in another thread but unfortunately there have been no responses.
What are the various Gingerbread custom ROMs available for the Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000? CyanogenMod 7 is based on Gingerbread but unfortunately the Galaxy Note is not officially supported.
I am presently on stock Gingerbread and I will be rooting my device in the coming few days. Having played around with stock Gingerbread, I would like to do the same with custom Gingerbread firmwares.
One more query, considering my current Android version is 2.3.6, am I subjected to using a custom ROM which is 2.3.6 or am I free to use any 2.3.x based?
I humbly request you all to respond to these queries of mine. Awaiting your apt replies.

Rocketrom comes with philz kernel and it is brickfree..So you can directly flash gb rom using pc odin
Hydracore doesnt work with leaked jb roms
when using pc odin, it doesn't require you to be on a safe kernel
its possible to returen to ics stock from jb? i looked and the guide says that you have to be on gb and from there flash ics
pc odin can flash stock rom on the phone no matter what rom you are on.
are you sure?the guide says the you have to be on gb first,so just to put the tar file in pda?
?

You can flash ics directly from jb..but i guess you will get a bootloop
You can flash a safe kernel, then do a factory reset and it boots up successfully
iam confused ...so now flash the hydra 7 do wipe data and flash from odin?

Use PC Odin to flash stock ICS directly. No intermediate steps, like flashing a custom kernel or going back to GB, are needed.

I guess he gets a bootloop after he flash ics..and he need to flash a safe kernel to do wipes..isnt it??
May be, but that's a step after flashing ics. I don't know why op wants to flash hydracore before using pc odin
too many ideas.i afraid to try it.
there are not many ideas.
All comes to one. Don't confuse yourself
put phone in download mode
connect to pc
open odin and select the rom file in the pda tab
flash
once done, don't do any wipes till you install a safe kernel
Currently running Ultimate N700 XXLSC JellyBean 4.1.2 v5.1 and baseband N7000XXLSC and Kernal Version 3.0.31-593490. I want to return it to stock as I can't use Sky Go. Do I need to downgrade to ICS or GB? any links to files would be great trying to do this whilst sat at my desk at work today so can't spend alot of time searching the forums
you can download the stock ICS firmware from samfirmware.com and install it using PC odin. (dont do any wipes while on stock ICS kernel. )
after install using Odin you might need to do a factory reset to get the phone to boot properly.. that time install Philz kernel for the ICS rom you chose using stock recovery/

Not necessary but possible. Downloading and using a ICS-based stock Rom saves a bit of time and work.
But for SkyGo (in UK) you have to stay with the unchanged stock - or SkyGo won't work.
I have installed official Jelly bean 4.1.2 firmware on my Note GT 7000 of different country but i think this is too slow and i want to go back to my ICS should i just download indian firmware of ics and repeat process of odin or do i need to do anything else?

If you have a backup, you can flash Philz kernel if you are not already running and restore it. Flashing stock firmware with Odin PC is fine also, but you will lose data.

Stock ICS kernel is not safe, JB devs are not sure yet. So, I would recommend to flash Philz kernel in stock recovery, then reboot recovery, do a full wipe and there you can re flash stock firmware.
That is the safest way to do it. DO NOT WIPE in stock kernel.

ODIN is always safe, but stock ICS kernel it is not....take that into consideration before wiping data.
So last week, to save my near bricked device I used PC Odin to Flash a GB Rom. The device works fine now, with all root privileges. I ran titanium backup and installed all of my apps from the previous rom. But i can't seem to install a new rom using the recovery mode route. Whenever I try to install a new rom (GB, ICS OR JB) using recovery, I get boot loop or get stuck on the setup screen. Info on the rom I'm using right now -
Build Number- Gingerbread.XXKJ1
Baseband Version N7000XXLB2
Kernel Version- [email protected]#2
Android Version- 2.3.5
I want to install an JB AOSP rom. Please give me step by step instruction on how to do it.
First update the stock firmware to JB and then flash the compatible PhilZ kernel and try flashing. Flashing on ICS or JB is more secure and safe.

How do I update to JB?? I went to settings>>About Phone>>Software update>>Update. It says no update available.
Flash a stock JB ROM thru ODIN. Read dr.ketan's thread in original Android development forum and download an ICS/JB stock ROM from there or sammobile.com and flash using ODIN. Do NOT do any wipes on the GB stock kernel, may ruin the device.
