aaahhhhhhh!!! RUU NOT WORKING

RUU giving me error 171 not conected error. usb debugging is on, charge only is on, and have htc 2033 please help
By any chance is your usb cord messed up? What rom are you on? What recovery do you have? These are things that need to be known. I actually had the same problem a few weeks ago after flashing a rom and wanting to go back to stock. I ended up going nuts. Then I just flashed another rom and it worked
Turn off USB debugging if your running an RUU
I am at 2.1 build # 2.27.651.6 I am not root at all yet hints the reason im trying to run the RUU. and it did not work by turning usb debugging off
What you do is, run the RUU, once it fails you just run it again. Don't touch the phone till you've done it twice, it should still be frozen at the HTC screen when you start the second RUU.

yup i tryed that to and the second time i run the ruu it it gives error 170 phone not connected

ive also tried this and it is not working either
okay first off and your gonna need to do this eventually. Set up adb. Install the drivers from here. Then get android sdk from here. Follow steps from here and set up adb and continue on with the root process. My guess is that you don't have your drivers installed correctly. Make sure that you can type an adb command before you try the ruu and go crazy screaming loudly.
Also it took me a drunken week and a sober day to get my phone rooted. Get the point?

thank you for all your help the problem is with windows seven i changed to a xp os and everything went smoothly

[Q] Lost... trying to root or restore raider

I've tried every guide, and every step twice. I can't get past the white HTC screen. I can get into the bootloader, and recovery screens.
Just don't know where to go next.
very frustrated, and not looking forward to an hours drive to the tech area to get it fixed.

hi enter to the bootloader - fastboot and make it lock with this command ( fastboot oem lock ) and then download and run roger ruu stock
(http://hotfile.com/dl/145619873/245....77.551061.02L_release_219561_signed.exe.html)
like that it should be back to the stock.
Well I'm not entirely sure why it worked this time - lord knows i tried every combination of commands at least twice.
I'm back at setup for Rogers - guess I'll have to learn to live with the low volume issue - which is what prompted me to look for a root to begin with.
Thank you for the assistance at least getting me back to square 1
Boot into fastboot, and flash stock kernel. Or flas recovery to install Rom. guess u'r in bootloop. Cmiiw

Hi Guys,
I have a problem where my internal earphone stopped working after flashing the kernel to a different one. still on the stock ICS ROM though.
Would this download put me back to stock as well. I am running a HTC Velocity (Vivid).
I know this is a noobish question just literally plucking straws here now. been trying to get the earphone working for a day now.

Go to recovery and plug it in. Run ADB and type adb devices. It should say
"List of devices attached"
*Serial number below*
If your serial number pops up it's connected. If it doesn't then it could be your drivers aren't installed. I had that problem and downloading the drivers again fixed it.

You would need the RUU.exe for the Vivid. Not the Raider.
http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-vivid-att/software-updates
Underneath "HTC Vivid™ for AT&T ROM Update | 03.22.2012" click read more in green. Go to the bottom and click download. That is the ICS stock RUU for AT&T Vivid.
it worked
It worked. It break the screen loop. First I relocked. The RUU install the ICS. Now at hboot show: S-ON RL
Could you please tell me what next? I am terrified to get back to the past loop... haha
If you're looking into rooting it..

Vivid_No mobile Network, blank IMEI

:crying::crying::crying:
After I got my Vivid, I upgraded my vivid to ICS from RUU on htc.com, and had no problems at all using for more than 4 weeks with HTCDev unlocked, root and S-OFF. I decided to use custom ROM and installed Marine_Blue_WhiteBase_HOLIICS.zip theme for holics mistaking it for the ROM without wiping data/cache/dalvik/battery stats and without making a backup, then my phone boots and gets stuck at "Android is upgrading" Starting Applications... and rebooted a number of times without success.
I racked up everywhere to solve the Android is upgrading issue but found only SGS II related solutions and suggestions to install ROM afresh.
I made a backup of this just incase I find a solution later, wiped data/cache/dalvik/battery stats, then installed kozmikkernel RC2 and Virtuous Inquisition ROM. Everything went fine but no mobile network. I rebooted a couple of times, reinserted sim, tried another sim all to no avail. I found out it could be a problem with IMEI and did *#06# and got blank IMEI ("IMEI ").
I relocked bootloader and flashed stock ROM, and I'm still getting blank IMEI when I check *#06#.
Please help....
EDIT: I know now that the problem is with the RIL or probably radio library files...but I just can't figure out what to do yet. Also this problem is with SGSII and HOX (HTC One X)... But I'm wondering why on earth I'm the only Vivid user with this...
Try checking your apn settings .Go into settings, mobile network, network operator, search network hopefully that will help.

I have tried all these with no success... Since the IMEI is blank when I type *#06#, I don't think the problem is with the settings, I'm afraid I might have wiped some config that has to do with the phone's radio... Please help!!!, this phone is barely 2 months old!
Try contacting the juopunutbear s-off devs..if they can apply engineering hboot they should be able to walk u thru adb commands to reflash the imei manually..but only if u know what it was to begin with. If of course that's actually what's wrong.

Have you tried to just run a ruu and start from fresh? Its certainly not a normal situation that you lost your imei number just from flashing a rom/theme.

Problem a solvo!!!...
I eventually flashed stock GB and IMEI was still blank with no mobile network, so I switched off the phone for a while to relax and admit the problem can't be solved.
Then I touched the power button by mistake and when the phone came up, BINGO, it brought my network.
I checked IMEI and Baseband and everything is up and good!!!
I lost count of how many times and stuffz I've flashed to get this thing back, but then I have the knowledge
Thanks guys...

Guys, I installed custom ROM (wiped before) and the baseband is gone again. I repeated what I did to solve it the first time, but no luck this time.
I know the problem is directly related with the RIL, but I'm not sure if the radio.img can't be found or can't be loaded or if there are no library files (from research).
I'd appreciate any help...
[EDIT]
I seem to have found what caused this!!!
I racked up all I could about baseband and saw THIS.
I checked getprop ro.baseband, got N/A as usual, so I did setprop ? and it gave me the syntax,
then I did setprop ro.baseband 3.26.5XXX (<--- mainver: in android-info.txt in RUU.zip) and did a reset and my mobile network is back, and brought my IMEI and baseband with it and everything is cool.
I'll update to ICS, play with the network to see if it has come to stay, do same with Holics ROM and then I'll mark this thread as solved and go to bed .
I'll also let the SGSII guys know if it'll help them, when I wake up
HOw can I download Official gingerbread ROM

[Q] Anyone been able to S OFF Hboot 1.56, Firmware 4.20.980.1?

I finally got my phone back from warranty. Yay it was a brand new phone. I cant for the life of me get S off on it. Im curious to know if anyone else has with this version. Firewater just gives up straight away saying the version is incompatible. Rumrunner just pours 8 times and then gives up. The drivers are installed fine, fastboot and adb works. Ive tried unsecured kernal on stock, and several custom roms and no luck. As its pretty new it probably isnt supported. But hey I thought i'd ask to see if someone has managed with any special tricks
