I used CM10.1 and i try to install kowalski karnel and rom by pengus77 and cwm recovery with touch. After these installation phone wont turn on, and recovery too. I try with smarthflash and then nvflash and I alive just recovery, but android dont. I try with few roms, but same story, just bl image and nothing else.
Please help me I dont know what to do...
Are you on old or new Bootloader.
Or: have you hat gingerbread or LG ICS before that?
i was gb and than i installed cm10.1 nightly
I alive same rom just now and its working, but i want some better rom and karnel
if I understand you correctly, you have the old bootloader and and running CM on it.
If you want a better kernel, than use the one from pengus, but for the "old" bootloader.

Hi guys, i have a small question.
I have installed back in august in gf's X8 kuya droid and i want to replace it with CM7.1 official. i am kinda lost with unlocked bootloaders and the rest, phone is now rooted with latest kuyadroid xrecovery and CWM 3.XX in it.
As i have it in my mind, the process is to install the new CWM 4.XX in xrecovery and then boot into CWM and flash CM7.1 as normal (wipe data/cache/dalvik and then install zip from sdcard).
Or do i have to do something else ? i also have a backup of the original rom, do i need to restore this and then flash CM?
thank you for your time

OK, you need to first unlock your bootloader by following the guide linked below (It is a lot easier than it lookas at first glance, so dont be too scared about it);
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254225
Unlocking the bootloader is the hard part, once you're past this you're laughing.
Now jumping ahead a bit....
Once the phone has an unlocked bootloader, all that is left to do is flash a custom kernel and loader (loader and bootloader being different things as the guide explains). Note that all the the custom kernels have CWM already built in as part of the kernel so you wont need to worry too much about that. Once done, flash the rom and GApps Enjoy super fast Android OS.
NOTE: I had problems using the FlashTool provided by the guide, instead I used the most recent version of FLashTool which is easily found via google.
Good luck!
If you need any further help either reply here or PM me!
Good luck!

If by "CM7.1 official" you mean the Shakira ROM by the FreeXperia project that's for download on the CyanogenMod website I strongly advise you against it.
The ROM is buggy as hell, feature incomplete AND the "too low volume on calls" hasn't ever been fixed.
If you want to take the trouble to install a custom ROM that needs a custom Kernel I'd rather recommend you nAa's MiniCM7 2.1.9 ROM and nAa v11 Kernel.
Take my word that the FXP CM7 Shakira ROM isn't worth the time and effort.

Agreed. I'm running the latest MiniCM7 build with nAa Kernel; It's amazingly stable... B.Jay you're so efficient and helpful.... thumbs up! You've already helped me today and I see you're back helping others!
yeah, i did some research and found that cm7.2 official sucks big time.
I have decided to install kuya's latest 4.5.4 rom, thing is that when i flashed 3.2.175 it installed xrecovery and cwm 3.XX simultaneously, i mean if you choose to reboot it gives you two options
-boot into xrecovery
-boot into CWM
i dont know if 4.5.4 version can be flashed with CWM 3 version or xrecovery, dev. wont mention.
I can even find CWM 4.xx version for this phone, damn....
I have never upgraded CWM version 3 to 4, any guides on how to do it?

You can flash kuyaDROID 4.5.4 with either version of the recoveries, though using CWM is recommended.
About "CWM and xRecovery": Be glad that you have both as CWM version 3.x.x.x has a bug that creates defective backups. Meaning: you can restore a backup you created, but chances are that your device won't boot. Creating a backup through xRecovery is the safe fall-back here.
At any rate - puppet13th, creator of the "x8Toolbox" and "ODEX (on any ROM)", is currently attempting to make CWM 5 work. I already gave a beta-test version a try, but it locked up at the Sony Ericsson logo.
In short: See the dual recovery installation as a welcome gift, not something that "gives you two reboot options you don't want to have".
A friend of mine gave me his LG Optimus 2x phone to installed AOKP M5 based on ICS 4.0.4. Currently his phone is running on ANdroid 2.2.2. I rooted this phone with SuperOneclick program successfully. AFter this I installed ROM Manager but when I tried to flash it with clockwork recovery through ROM Manager, it failed and after boot, it went in infinite boot loop. I managed to break the boot loop by pressing power and lower volume button together. Now I am stuck and don't know to proceed further.
I have Samsung Galaxy Nexus and Moto Xoom and it was lot easier to install custom ROM.
I will appreciate your help with some instructions.
Hi. Try to do wipes; cache partition, factory; davlick (advanced) and reflash again the said ROM. What CWM version you have? I would suggest 5.0.2.8, I have no problems on it. I flashed several roms, CM7 and CM9.
Hope it helps.
If I understood you don't have cwm installed correctly.
Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18939518
Nvflash never fails.
And I'm not sure aokp works good on our phone, due to hard hacks necessary to run ics with outdated kernel sources concerning CPU and GPU chipset.
In case you can try Owain's unofficial builds not so far from aokp.

Are you on new bootloader when you tried to install CM10.1? (New Bootloader = LG with Red splash, Old Bootloader = Pure White LG letters with Icon) You must be on old Bootloader (For Gingerbread) before doing so.... I recommend you clean first the bootloader and partition using WKPARK's file and guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1968280, APX Drivers can be grabbed here: https://www.box.com/s/c5d0e911cz9jhz3ab9y1 Credits to umar for reuploading. After that you will have to mount cleaned system on CWM and format your internal SD, then flash nightly rom patched by Wkpark's CM10 patcher so that buttons would work, and flash su660ics' provided kernel by a vietnamese developer here.
Well, thank you verry much for the info!
Anyway, now i`m back tt the stock ROM (GB 2.3.4).
But i still wanna instal CM10.1,or at least CM10 and i`m still wondering why the installation didnt work ??
I mean,i have followed 100% a tutorial on how to install CM10.1.
I tried once but the phone booted with the same ICS 4.0.4,then i tried again, the same result, and the last time when i tried i got stuck at that LG logo, but now its ok.
But how can i install CM10.1 or another version ?? I didnt do anything wrong...i think it didnt work because there are some problems that i`m not aware of...
Hello!
I tried to flash Nova HD,CM 7.2,CM 10.1 over the official ics from lg,the installation goes well but after i reboot the phone i see no changes, the phone is just the same.
Until now i've flashed lots of custom ROMs without any problems but i came back to the stock ROM,but now i decided to change again my ROM but it just won't work :|
I dont know what happened, the phone is rooted and all are set up but i just cant flash any rom.
I did like 5-6 attempts but the results are the same..
Can anyone help me ?
Just found out that Paranoid Android is working.
But i cant say the same for the others ROMs.
You can't flash CM7 over ICS. Both ROMs use different bootloaders!
Go to the Development forum and use the AIO Toolkit to flash back the old bootloader, then you'll be able to return to CM7.
Thanks!
But what about CM10.1 and Nova HD?
Did you do a full wipe (Factory reset + format /system) while changing from ROM to ROM?
Yes,i did it all the time!
Hello!
I've been having a lot of trouble flashing recovery, rooting and installing custom rom for my Mini 2. After a lot of researching and trying I have successfully rooted and after installed Cyanogenmod 10.1 and now I got the JellyBean 4.2.2. And now I would like to find out whether or not I should upgrade/change the kernel. Can anyone tell me please if there is another kernel for CM10.1 and for my device specifically, and will it make my phone more faster or not. I have tried to install Semaphor (I don't think this is compatible with my device), Devil (Same here) and Franco (Which is same) for all three of them I have got the status 7 error. I have also tried to install some kind of kernel update for my device which completely messed up everything (different colored display, some glitchy stuff and random reboot every 0.5 seconds ), so I had to install the stock rom (because the cm didn't work) and then the cm.10.1 again (now I'm good). Also to let you know my current kernel version is 2.6.38.6-1214151 (that's what says settings -> about phone -> kernel version). If there is nothing better then don't worry, my phone at the moment runs smoothly anyways!!!
Thanks in advance.....
Please...
Anyone???
I had that error on cwm 6.xxx
Then i flashed cwm 5.0.2.8 and there was no error, it worked
Just wipe everything and go to mounts and storage->format /system and after that mount /system
Make sure you have backup of your working rom. If your device wont boot after flashing (if its just booting in recovery, flash stock rom
(get into downlad mode voldown+home+power, hold power button until samsung logo.)
If thats what you have problem with...
No, don't install something that won't work for your phone. Kernel are main controllers in your phone. You change the kernel, you change how your phone works. If you lucky, you get your phone booting, but with glitch everywhere. If you aren't lucky your phone will dead, no matter if you install a custom ROM, or a fresh stock ROM.

I appreciate the reply, so as far as I understand, Kernel is completely separated from the ROM. So if I get any error or problem with the Kernel, it's going to be hard to fix, because re-flashing the ROM will not change anything. If what you said is right then I will not risk it, because my phone has got already CM10.1 installed and is working nice and smoothly, however I got another question. I'm not sure what Kernel version I had previously but when I installed CM I think it changed the Kernel, because the name of it is not the same as I've seen when I had stock ROM (It says 2.6.38.6-1214151 [email protected]#1 Sat Mar 23 11:49:35 EET 2013). I am really happy with what I've got at the moment so I will not change it, because if my phone ends up bricking, or anything else, I can't afford to buy another one for now (sometime later yeah )
Anyways thanks for your help!!
