Best case - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

What's your favorite case for the vivid? I currently have a no name cheap tpu hybrid case from eBay and it does the job. But I'm curious about what you use.
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using xda app-developers app

I have a Spec hard case that I bought at the AT&T store when i got my vivid. It gets the job done but the rubber edges on the cover have started to peel off.

i always use this "s line" case design for all my phones:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Silic...996491?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item5651871c0b
very tight fit... not solid like plastic, but slightly flexible enough to not be flimsy.. very good corner protection... i threw my desire hd on the floor on cement once with these.. landed on the corner and bounced back lol.
also has good grip on the sides as you can see... and its also the only case ive had on my phones that doesnt seem to affect signal

Awesome deal.

I don't use a case xD

I have the Otterbox Defender, but it starts to stretch. The rubber in the corners doesn't fit as nice as it used to be.

Otterbox Commuter I've used for approx.two years.I was taking it off the other day to clean my vivid and the top of the case cracked around the power button.I contacted otterbox online and followed there instrucions on a warranty claim and they are shipping me a new case at no cost. You can't go wrong with that kind of service/warranty.It's been a great case and the phone has taken many drops on concrete with no damage with this case also.

I gotta second this. Their warrantee service is second to none. They replaced a Defender for my Vivid because the rubber was stretching and tearing. They replaced a defender for my son's One XL because the rubber was tearing and case was cracked. The replacements showed up within days, virtually no questions asked. My son is pretty rough on his. The phone would be trash long ago if not for the OtterBox protection.

I've been using an Incipio hybrid case ever since my Otterbox started tearing (see above) and I have only one complaint, the outer hard shell is brittle and can crack if dropped the right way. It survived very many drops and its not cumbersome in my pocket, something I cant say for my old Otterbox.

This is the case I have love it

I had some problems with my Vivid. The AT&T store bought it back from me for $100.00 . So I got an LG Optimus G Pro.
Why am I goin on about this here, In the case thread?
If you live near Romulus,MI I will give you my Otter Box case for free. I will NOT ship this. I'm gonna hand it to you.
PM me for details.

SO the rubber on my speck started to disintegrate from heat and use so I got this and I love it even more than the speck... It adds more protection and doesn't fit as tightly as the speck giving it some more breathing room

If the sound is muffled due to the silicone case, couldn't you just puncture a hole into it as the microphone is at the bottom of the case?
I ordered a commuter case and I'm hoping that it doesn't run into the same issues.

I also ordered the commuter case.Black on Black.
Yes it can be modified to open up the mic with ease.
I just received my commuter case and it's great. I have an opening for the microphone at the bottom.
I kind of messed up the screen protector install on mine. I checked on the otterbox site but can't find anywhere where I can order an additional screen protector from them? Anyone have a suggestion?
I like the otterbox one because it feels like the actual screen and not a rubbery layer. I used the ZAGG invisible shield on an ipod before and it wouldn't work well on a touch screen as it's tacky and you can press into it.
The plastic is weak I cracked mined

Is the call quality reduced too bad or is it bearable? I would rather take a little call quality away for protection!
There are no issues with call quality as long as the case is installed properly and the opening in the silicone is over the microphone hole.
I have been using this case for a week and like it. It provides good protection. I can rest assure that my phone will be protected if it ever dropped. The only complain I have is that the silicone part is a dust magnet. The day I put it on, it's never been dust-free. I would wish it is replaced by TPU instead.

What I find most annoying about these cases is that they don't cover the top and bottom bezel, which is actually the part that will get scratched the most easily as it's the parts that have the most friction going into and coming out of your pocket! I can't wait to get some nice OEM cases (like the S3 TPU case that Samsung makes) or Case Mate cases or Seidio! Come on companies! Make your cases

Avoid the metal backs, I bought one for an S3 that I was trying, GPS dropped from seeing 16 Satellites to 3 and I lost 2 bars of cell signal. So if you want a metal back, make sure you can return it just in case.

Rule of thumb: never cover your internal antennas with metal! It messes with the reception and attenuates the sound of voices in phone calls. The iPhone can do it only because its antenna is on the outside. Still, I personally like the plastic. I mean, it doesn't feel as premium as other devices, but it still feels great in hand Love my device. I got a TPU case to protect it. I haven't dropped my phone in the past 4 years, so the case is just against scratches. hehe.

Whats a good otterbox alternative?

I'm going to be doing some field work soon, and want to be able to take my phone with me instead of taking a cheap feature phone like I used to.
Problem is, its going to be dirty, cold dusty and jagged and I need a good rugged case with screen protection, preferably one that won't me back 40-60$ like the otterbox does.
must have features are port covers, a dust resilient screen protector, and a toughened shell/case.
thanks in advance for any help
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Even if you were to go with something other than an OtterBox, for that level of protection I believe you'd still be looking at the ~$50 price range.
Im a field service engineer and let me tell you that my otter commuter saved my phone a few times - from multiple angle drops to dirty fingers. had it on for a week now and it works as advertised. was looking for a cheaper alternative as well but after reading the reviews and watching drop tests videos its the best protection you can get for ~50 bucks.
Drop test for the note 2 commuter? Only seen defender vids. Link? Thanks

I am also a field service engineer and work with literally tons of abrasive dust. I have a cheap fosmon kickstand cover that I bought on amazon. it was really only a few bucks. I also have on a cheap wet apply screen protector I bought on amazon I think it is the just like glass protector. The case makes the softbuttons hard to use, so you may want to flash a rom with the nexus buttons enabled.

i am using speck candyshell on a daily basis now that i am used to the bulk it adds. Apart from the fact that the back scratches up pretty much easily, I don't have any negative comments about it.
A pretty decent protective shell excluding the front screen protector of the otterbox.

I have the commuter case. I believe it is a great case and I highly reccomend it. It cost me around 32 euros and I dont regret it. Most of the times when we look for cheap alternatives we end up spending more money on various cases just to return to our first and more expensive option. And if you want my opinion you dont just but 2 parts of silicon and plastic. You buy the reassurance that whatever happens to your case Otterbox will replace it. And of course you also buy their experience. Just check all these crazy drop tests on youtube.

I bought this case on ebay and I really like it. I think it is a great cost/benefit product.
I don't know about others because I live in Brazil and I have to pay a very expensive shipping. (1 US dollar = 2 BR reais)
It isn't a hard case but it feels like one and it protects all the coners and screen.

Funny, I have the same case. Basically, I got it because it was cheap (less than $5 shipped). The case itself is really good. The stand and holster, however, are poorly designed.
My holster clip broke after 3 days after the clip fell off 6 times and the silicone was tearing where the hard plastic met with it in the corners
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
I hate the tpu on this, its so flimsy.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda app-developers app
True, holster clip is a junk. I wouldn't trust it. But kickstand was solid! Can even be used in flygrip style to hold the case
Got my hubby one of these... love the way it feels. Rubber is a lil too loose for peace of mind but it is relatively thin and design is pretty. So far holster is holding up ok
This case has no TPU. It's all silicone and hard plastic.
My kickstand is falling apart. It also doesn't stay open unless you "click" it into place (since it was new). Like I said, for the price, it really doesn't matter. But you can find better cases for about the same amount or maybe a little more. I didn't care much for the holster, but thought that I might use it if I have to wear formal attire. However, it is so hard to get the phone in and out of the damn thing, that I never did. The silicone headphone port protector also fell off, but no biggie.
My main gripes are the use of silicone instead of TPU and the crappy kickstand (which I use A LOT). When the kickstand finally breaks, I'll be getting another case with a properly designed kickstand. Hopefully, by then a proper one will be out (like the one I used to have on my HTC Evo).

Off topic: yes, we both got refurbs for .99 cents each (plus upgrade fee). Skyrocket is now being used by my 2 1/2 year old son until it gets sold. Pretty happy with the note2 except for the bulk. Still shopping for decent case... I think I'll buy my husband a defender case when this one breaks. He is a disaster in the making when it comes to phones. Lol
The Seidio active Holster fits this case perfectly. They make an great combo. In fact I shelved the Seidio Active case and kept using this one with the Seidio Holster since they make a damn good combo
