Heya there,
I am mostly wondering if anyone can help me by clear instruction on adding some input languages, so that I can have them in "swipe the space bar" function. As a matter of fact, I need to add chinese, but somehow my phone, though it has chinese as the interface language, doesn't have chinese as input language.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
1st root ur phone then paste apk file to the system app folder n give permission n paste the other file to system lib give permission will do!
reboot done!http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shareid=505306&uk=1679498417
I don't think the stock Android Keyboard supports Chinese. Samsung does provide their own Chinese input method which is separate from their regular input method. IMO the Samsung Chinese input isn't that good. You should try the Google Pinyin IME, it supports pinyin/stroke/handwritting input, trad/simp chinese. I think it's a great keyboard.

But some of other handheld do have the chinese as their input. Seeing from how they just swipe their space bar to change their input, thus voila... They can have pinyin as their method of input. I still keep wondering on the method in adding the languages.

I am gratefully wondering if you don't mind in showing me the dummy steps in doing so?

Sorry, I was not aware of that. Thanks for that kenshinta. The best part is I got swype apk from one of these forums at XDA. If it is against the policies of this forum, then I would request Admin or the moderators to delete the post.
Works perfectly on my Spica!
I was not able to install swype previously but now works lika a charm!

Is there any possible way to add or install extra input language?
My situation is that I bought Samsung i9000 here in the UK and I would like to have the Chinese input option.
Surprised that this hasn't been answered yet. I know that there are apps on the market that do this, but surely if we can just figure out which apk files are responsible for the keyboard, we can just transfer it from a Chiense ROM.
So the question is, does anyone know which files are responsible for the Chinese keyboard?
edit:
Found out which apk is responsible for the Chinese keyboard: ChineseIMETutorial.apk
I read some other thread on the theme and app section, and it seems like there should also be a couple of related lib files.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7493596&postcount=7
But those files do not exist on my phone. Searching for the keyboard "CN" in my lib file turns up nothing useful.
Bump. Surely someone must know the answer.
Hi guys,
Maybe I missed something but after few searches I couldnt find an answer.
Is there any way to get Romanian language prediction in Swype?
Maybe a CSC change or.. install a different version of swype from another ROM..?
I have an idea but not sure about the correct way to follow.
Can someone give me a hint?
Thanks a bunch!
Hope this helps!
It has all languages!
Go to www//4shared//com/get/26YCldWS/Swype_160368214_HVGA.htm
P.S. Sorry moderators for violating rule (To prevent spam to the forums, ALL new users are not permitted to post outside links in their messages. After approximately eight posts, you will be able to post outside links. Thanks for understanding!) Had to help him
The file is gone. Any update?
Hey Cezar,
If you still need Romanian language support for your Android phone I can give you step-by-step instructions. Let me know.

Can I get the file even if I'm not Cezar? I need the Romanian dictionary. The auto-correct crap to pop Romanian words.
Install new Swype (even on phones with Swype preinstalled)
1. Go to http://beta.swype.com/ and register in order to download the latest beta. (it works just fine)
2. Although they caution that if you had Swype preinstalled this will not work, there is an elegant work around.
a. If this is your case (most Samsung phone do come with Swype preinstalled) you need to have your phone rooted and Titanium backup installed
b. Freeze the original, preinstalled version of Swype with TB and reboot the phone
3. Install the Swype installer you’ve got using the method suggested above and follow the instructions. Once installed, Android sees the new Swype as an update to the original version.
4. Go to Swype settings and download whatever dictionary you wish (including Romanian and many, many others) - this is actually the main (and I should say very important) difference between the stock / after-market versions of Swype - the first comes with only a few pre-installed dictionaries without the ability to expand, while the latter offers a lot more choices and the versatility of downloading/installing the language(s) of choice.
That’s it. It works like a charm and the Romanian dictionary is quite comprehensive – although it takes some practice in using the diacritics (you have to swipe through the “-“ sign for l-au, m-au, etc.)
Thank you very much. I was able to update & to install Romanian. It works pretty nice.
Missing input/keyboard/T9 languages for the Samsung keyboard. I've tried this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=902819), but it doesn't work with Gingerbread, for some reason.

i bet u are older here
so i think this thread ain't posted on the right place
and if u wanna gingerbread keyboard go download it from the market
or just download multiling keyboard from the market its free and got nice theme for gingerbread
I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you mean by "older"...
About the Samsung keyboards:
I'm talking about "stock" Samsung keyboards which the xda development community was able to extract from other stock ROMs and add to development Froyo ROMs where such input languages, such as Dutch or Hungarian, were not available. If you follow the link provided, you will find instructions that describe how to add the additional input languages to all Froyo ROMs. This is therefore "Android development", which is why this thread is perfectly positioned on xda.

I have get my keyboard work for Overcome 2.0 rom
http://www.sendspace.com/file/iei170
Down the file and extract it
copy the file SamsungIME.apk to /system/app and change the permission to Owner: R/W, Group: Read, Others:Read
then copy the files inside the "lib" into /system/lib, also changed the permission to Owner: R/W, Group: Read, Others:Read
Reboot and then it should be work
Is this an alternative to the stock Samsung keyboard?
What input languages does it support?

Hi Guys,
ive started to translate MIUI to my own language norwegian,
i am using apktool to decode and compile the apk's
creating a new dic called values-no and place my own strings in there.
everything seems fine, i use root explorer to place my apk's in the system/app/ dic reboots my phone and absolutely nothing happends!
(I've even checked on settings -> system -> language & input settings.
i think i must be missing something crucial!
please help, i understand english well and have no problem with it really, but it would be cool to finnish it and make it happend.
I figured that my lang prefix must be wrong, stumbled upon it when i installed ubuntu yesterday.
Going to try 'nb-no' instead of 'no' tonight
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Nobody seems to care, but if someone should care for future referanse the name should be "values-nb"

No one may have responded, but don't take that as a sign that no one cares. Someone, somewhere, will eventually stumble upon this thread looking for an answer to something you already know. I always suggest to post a fix for a question you asked. It'll help someone out eventually.
hehe, yeah thats why i postet it too.
and a tips: if you are working on translating an apk, and your'e not sure wich prefix you should use on values-xx simply decode Vending.apk(Market)(or another apk you know to contain your language) go into \res\ and you will find a values-xx folder with your language.
Hi,
Manage to come across your post... Did you finally make it? I'm also translating miui for my phone, in my language, i tested translating the mms.apk. However i didn't seem to see the changes.
How do you add your language as a separate language in the settings menu? Cause what I'm doing is changing the /values which shows the changes, but what i really want to do is a separate /values-xx so that i can go back and forth to the default and my own language.
Hope you could help. Thanks in advance.
Hi
Norwegian is in the Language pack?
