As I want to be sure before I try custonexus, I want to know if I can backup/restore the stock Rom, because flashing kdz files is a pain. Also does factory reset erase internal sdcard?

Hi Folks,
I am not new to this forum and i successfully flashed and tested out several custom ROMs. And yes, I know, I am still a Noob
But I have a weird problem now...
It doesn't matter which ROM I flash, my device won't get wiped. Well yes, I messed up my Nandroid backups, but:
I tried several kernels, ROMs and bootloaders. Even with the ones from samfirmware.com.
I tried it via Recovery and via the Android settings. And I've got all these old folders and files which don't get deleted when you uninstall an app. I'd really like to have a clean phone.
I know, it's a luxury problem, but it is very annoying.
So, could anyone please point me to some direction?
Thanks in Advance!
Cheers, berkley

Exact!!!
Well wipe does not wipe everything. I think to do what you are asking you need to format the internal SD card right after or maybe before a flash. That won't do the system stuff (I believe) but just the user area. The apks should recreate what they need afterwards.
But I haven't done it for a long time so don't trust me 100%. But that should do it and if you are flashing after it should clean it all up even if something useful got lost.

Use sd card maid to find legacy folders and for general clean up, amazing app

All data will be wiped if you flash with Odin with PIT-file and 'Re-partition' ticked.
Sent from hell to take your soul
could also try using the format internal SD card from the phones menu.
Does that mean that even a full reset doesn't wipe everything?
Full reset as done via punching in *2767*3855# on the dialer.
Hi Guys,
thanks for your nice words and help. I really don't know what was wrong. And I really don't know, what has fixed it!!! But now everything is working again. Thanks a ton!!!
Cheers, berkley
I have rooted and cycled through a few custom roms. I have been on cm10.1 since early december and feel like i have lots of my apps in 2 or 3 different places on the memory. How do I know what is current and what is old unused info. I would be willing to do a fun system reset if i knew it would get rid of all the extra junk i have know but even when i have done that in the past it seems like there is still stuff i installed in the memory

You can factory reset somewhere in the settings menu, or if you have installed cwn you can delete everything within that and install a new rom via odin.

To get rid of everything, you'll have to format you internal sd card and do a factory reset. Then flash the stock rom with Odin. What recovery are you using?

I am using clockworkmod. I have only used odin when i rooted.

Depends on what you mean by not messing anything up. If you want your phone to be like new and you're willing to odin or recovery a new Rom, then yes. If you want existing stuff to run correctly, then no

You could format /system, format /sdcard, do a system wipe, wipe dalvik cache and then flash your rom from with the zip with sideload (on ADB), assuming you have all your personal files and apps backed up.

I don't know how to do it, it doesn't give me the option... I have it backed up so I could restore it, I just need it out of my way... Any help.

Hi,
Do you mean that you want to delete the actual Stock ROM slot? I'm guessing that you're using Safestrap 3.x. If so, I don't think that you can delete it. In fact, I beleive that your Custom ROM Slots actually run off of the Stock one, so it might not be a good idea. Can I ask why you want to do it?
If you just want to wipe the system from the Stock slot, you can using the Wipe menu just like with any other slot, but be careful! Even though you have it backed up, the Stock slot is kind of finnicky from what I've experienced. I recently did an experiment where I flashed something over it. I had it backed up and everything, and when the experiment failed, I tried to restore it to how it was. I wiped the slot and restored from my backup, but the phone wouldn't boot.
Strangely, it worked when I restored it to a custom slot, but I had to get a special backup file from someone here on the forums to get my Stock Slot to work again. Just a word of caution. Hope that helps.

Hi guys, I searched but I found nothing...but I remember I read something about that here or there.
Every time I do a factory reset I lost all my sd data. There is a way to solve? I'm on cwm touch.
Thanks

are you factory reset dont delete your pictures and other data on the sd, what exactly is it that you are trying to do? flash a new rom? if so what rom where u on before?
I was on stock Rom first time, then viper.
In recovery I do wipe data factory reset before flashing and all in my sd disappear (photos, docs, mp3)...

They're not lost, probably just in a different location because of 4.2.2. Try looking in data/media/ in ES File Explorer or another file manager. Just move them to your sdcard/0/ folder.
Edit: it might be data/media/0/ folder you need to move it to. Or /sdcard/. Both should be same thing on 4.2.2.

What ROM are you on? Are you sure you have factory reset your phone properly in the recovery?
