hi
Here is my problem.
When i was on ics LRQ or LRT, i tried to use hotspot on my gnote to give internet to my tablet (asus transformer , rom aokp, works fine with my wife's S3), i find the gnote, connect on it, but i can't access the internet.
I tried on GB LC1, it worked fine. I'm now on LSZ, hotspot not working, same problem, can be see, connect on it, but no internet.
I tried with the app wifi tether, there is an error in the log : "failed : setting ad-hoc mode"
So what can i do, lsz is better for me than LC1, it's not material as it worked on lc1.
No one with an answer ?
So another request that may help me find out : can someone in lsz stock with philz kernel post some screenshots of the root directory to see what files are in ?
I'm sure it's a missing file that disable the hotspot as it worked on GB stock rom, but i don't know which one

If you think that a file is missing: root directory won't help and it is much easier to install a new and complete XXLSZ Rom. A file is only missing after you deleted it - if you do not know which one, tehn reinstalling is a much better way to solve your problems.

I tried installing many time the rom, starting on a clear base (all wipe from philz, install lc1, factory reset then install LSZ), but always same problem. And it worked on LC1 but not on ics rom nor JB.

Hello to all,
can anyone please advise, which file should i install that would suit my firmware best !
Model number:GT-I9000
Firmware version: 2.3.3
Baseband version: I9000XXJVO
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-I9000BOJV8-CL273008 root DELL154 #2
Build number: GINGERBREAD.BOJV8
I really appreciate if anyone could help me.
Thanks to all
Try the CF-Root kernel.

Thank you, Lunchbox for your fast reply !
But there are many CF-Root-Kernels.
Which one is the right ?
Sorry, but I am a newbie in Kernel-choice....
if you cant be bothered flashing kernels etc here is the the superoneclick method...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SuaXu8kusvA
just follow that and you will be rooted, then get titanium backup and do a batch backup
Use CF-Root for the JPO firmaware you have. Each kernel has the firmware extension at the end of its file name.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
Superoneclick I have testet, but without success .
Does kernel JPO really fit my kernel JV8 ??
Same problem here.
After updating a t-mobile branded I9000 to 2.3.3 via KIES (including wipe) my programs and settings are gone.
All data has been saved in TitanBackup. Unfortunatly TB needs root.
SOC didn't work, now I'm looking for alternatives.
Heard, that cf-root can fix my prob, but still got following questions:
will cf-root work on my branded galaxy?
which cf-root version do I need?

Is there no solution available ?
As far as I know it is possible to root the Galaxy with the FuguRoot.
One thing that is still missing is the correct Odin flashable stock kernel.
Till now there is no kernel for the I9000BOJV8 available at Samfirmware.
I'll keep looking for the kernel.
Hoping to get a quick solution.

Just open Odin, put the tar file as PDA, put the phone in download mode, plug it in, wait for the box under ID:COM to go yellow and the 'added!' message and hit start. It will be done in a few seconds. Install superuser and busybox from the market to see if it works.
Like I said earlier it didn't work right away for me, superuser just FC'd on the first boot. Not sure if it was reflashing or rebooting that fixed it. Just a warning that some tinkering might be required.
OK, Problem solved.

Need root only for backup
Hello xda-developers.com
I need some help according to this title "Need root only for backup" I hope I am here correctly.
My problem is:
The Phone turns automatically off without doing anything.
I started it but it get's in a loading loop.
I don't want to make a reset until I backup the data from my phone contacts, pictures etc...
I read in an other forum that it is posible to flash only the kernel via ODIN CF-ROOT_....
to activate some mounts & storage - usb in recovery. So the PC can use the phone as USB device to copy all data from the phone to the PC. Is this correct?
If yes i will need the correct CF-ROOT for this version below i tryed to find the CF-ROOT for this version but I did not find it for my version. Can you help me please?
My phone can load the download mode.

I need the data the contacts and the rest of the files because its my business phone and i don't have the acctual backup of the phone
After I've saved my data I will flash the phone to one of the newest versions.

Hello honorable SGT colleagues, according to my experience the Overcome P7300 v2.3.0 ROM is an amassing masterpiece that worked for me absolutely flawlessly with KJ6 modem at impressive CDMA/3G speeds… until after Google map app inadvertently hanged up due to the lost internet connection.. subsequent reboots and hard resets to the factory did not fix modem malfunction with the same error even after repeated rolls backs to several Russian v3.1 stock ROMs (PDA/CSC/PHONE) flashed by Odin 1.85 together with re-partitioning by p5_0614 PIT mapping table kindly provided by Nirogy325 at General Tab Questions - every ROM (either stock and custom) I used to try did not flash PHONE firmware properly, with baseband version always indicated as “unknown” in the system properties tray and of course, GSM/CDMA modem not operable.. the rest of COMM functions as is WI-FI and Bluetooth seems absolutely normal… does anybody have a clue what happened with my damned tablet and what might be possible cure? Will be extremely grateful for any advice
Try this cwm restock version..
I dont know if this file will be your solution,
But i dont have any issues with this..
Just give it try..

Hello Suwandiapr, thank you very match for your support! Hopefully your system.tar will cure my problem with incorrectly flashed modem…I am unctuous to try it as the last remedy, but sadly could not download your file from the turbobit.net.. Would you kindly try to upload the file to the files.mail.ru with the link sent to my mail address [email protected] ? Files.mail.ru is a popular Russian file exchange server with free hosting and free registration, it might also be useful for your future needs, to employ the server just create your ***@mail.ru account at files.mail.ru
With best regards Alexander
Just Make a CWM Version of ROM from this thread..
It is a CWM flashable zip that will install STOCK ROM on your tab..(without CWM and root of course in the end)
Support MultiCSC..
This includes the stock kernel, recovery image and Modem..include system.tar dump directly from mine..
Heres the instructions:
First you need CWM (overcome v5.1.2.6 or v5.5.0.4) for install this ZIP..
Download this file: http://turbobit.net/nc42yb1ig2s0.html
Put the file on your internal storage/sdcard
Reboot into recovery
Choose wipe data/reset Factory option before install
Choose from Install Menu -->Install zip from Internal storage
Choose zip from SDCARD
Select the P7300XWLA2_P7300OXXLA2_P7300XXKJ6.zip
Wait about 5-7 Minutes
After "Done", reboot.
Welcome to a completely stock XWLA2 with new modem
Scripts from alterbridge86 file from this thread..

enjoy!!!
works on my GT P7300 and running well on daily use..
Do with your own risk, dont forget make a nandroid backup before you mess up..
Its Difficult to find uploader (free), i will update the link if you get problem with above link..
Okey bro, i will update the link.. Maybe tomorrow.. Coz im in hurry now.. Be patience my bro..
I do as soon as possible..
Update with hotfile, check again on my suggested post..
My data plan has a limit..its the best i could for you..

hi guys i just rooted all went fine but after i used cmw 5.5 lp8 through odin and flashed now im not getting wifi connection
Same here ! - Have you worked it out ?
Hi
I have experienced the same with 4.0.3 and now 4.0.4 - CWM 5.6
I found the only way to have wifi working properly IS NOT to ROOT and keep a bog standard fresh rom image current!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1806214
Did you manage to get Wifi working ??
Any tips would be helpful
Thanks

Download this
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=stericson.busybox&feature=search_result
Open it and update binaries. It should work after a successful message.
Wifi issue related with bunaries, it has no relation with rooting
If you use cwm.zip to root, it will have no issue. usually it happenes with flashing CF root kernel.
First root device. Your system ROM shud have 15-20MB free space.
Install busybox from market, open busybox and install binaries from inside busybox
Now flash CF root kernel
check wifi working
if any issue, again install binaries from inside busybox application, if you get successfull msg then wifi shud work.
(Edit : same busybox mention by sahil arora above.)
Dr.Ketan
Thanks for that info, I didn't realise there are 2 ways to root the Note !
The method you described again I picked up on this thread too
http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-note-gt-n7000-root-android-4-0-4-ics-xxlrg-102122/
The other way in which I was accustom to using the PC and Odin, obviously using the Pc and Odin to root using the cwm 5.6 file causes binary problems etc
Anyway I copied the 2 files as instructed and rebooted and the wifi now works as normal - (Thats without installing busybox and updating binaries!)
Now the phone is rooted with SU, I don't see the icon for CWM and wanted to know how to boot into CWM recovery mode to use a previous back up rom for the app data?
Or is that the purpose now to flash the cf root kernel via odin, which puts the CWM app on the phone desktop?
Now as for flashing the CF root kernel, what s the file name I need and the procedure for doing it?
ie use the pc and odin ??
Whats the reason for the CF root kernel ?
---------- Post added at 06:37 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:02 PM ----------
As for the 2nd part of the instruction ie install the CF root kernel.
I installed CF-Root-SGN_XX_XEU_LQ2-v5.6-CWM5 via the PC and Odin 1.85
Which indeed put CWM on the desktop of the phone and also produced the 'yellow triangle'
Upon booting up, I installed 'busy box free' from the Google store, chose to install binaries as suggested.
Free Space in / system ROM = 0.0mb ?? - how do you allocate space of 20 mb or more ??
Message also saying - 'I am unable to verify whether or not certain utilities needed for this application to run are present and functional on your device.Possible cause incorrect rooting, incorrect superuser settings, please configure again..
Once flashed the CF root kernel - WIFI still doesn't connect !!
CWM is just a blank black screen with NO option to choose to install a back up / boot into recovery mode etc
Mobile Odin will not install, again just a blank black screen
I think the original instructions are flawed !!
Dont flash cf root with pc odin
Make space using titanium. Remove aruro live wall paper google +
Use first link of ny signature n read first post fully till you understand everything.

Dr.Ketan
Hoorah - what a puzzle that was !! :good::good:
Did it following your instructions EXACTLY step by step - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360
So basically if anyone tries to root their note the regular way ie PC and Odin, they will experience the 'partial root and lack of wifi connectivity'
Hence your instructions, when all said and done after you use mobile odin to flash the CF root kernel and reboot there is NO yellow triangle :good:
Amazing
Thanks again
Basically wifi and partial root is just.due to busybox n binary not due to cf root kernel.
And if u flash cf kernel.with pc odin it gives raised counter with yellow triangle, thats y somewhere on other thrwad i said not to.do it.
If.you update busybox.successfully then wifi n partial rooy shud b solve.

Can you confirm that that the 'CWM' file you advise to use in this thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1659308
Is the same 'CWM' file that comes with a 'WARNING' not to use as given in this thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360
If 'YES' is the answer and we are all advised to ROOT ICS 4.0.3 / 4.0.4 via pc Odin and a CF root kernel file.
Can you explain then how to over come the problem off NOT GETTING a wifi connection as already discussed in this thread ?
As I and others have already have found out that using a CF ROOT kernel - wifi problems occur
Using the CWM on the sd card method, wifi problems don't occur - but superbricking is inevitable
Reason why I am asking is I'm about to go through the process of rooting another Note and don't want to brick another one !!
Thanks

This is old thread and don't follow anything from this, Thread you have mention on first place is also old, you won't be able to download, b'coz it is removed (Now post updated so you won't see instruction too)
Follow This
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360
Thing is I still have the CWM zip files sat on my desktop from when I downloaded them from the post when they were active !
Also when I used the CWM.zip last week to root the phone it worked with out bricking ?
So whats changed in the last week?
If I use it again and it roots no problem, what long term affect could it have if any ?
There is reportedly dangerous to use, may it can brick ur device.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
What about all the people who have used it (CWM.zip) in the past and have had no problem with it?
As I mentioned I followed your advice / post last week with this wifi issue and using the CWM.zip direct on the sd card, it didn't brick the phone as I followed your instructions.
For those who have had their phones bricked, could it be down to something else those users have done, rather than blame the CWM.zip?
I'm speculating because for example I bricked my 'Note' last week by flashing a S2 bootloader into it via Odin by mistake, see what I mean?
I have another 'Note' and want to root and bypass the wifi problem.
I don't want to root using the cf root kernel and have the wifi problem, it's pointless doing it unless the procedure either way is flawless :good:
Follow how to.root guide from second line on my signature
No one.have reported wifi issue. Use notecore kernel.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
I may try, but I'm inclined to wait.
Theres nothing more annoying than rooting, getting the phone set up and the wifi or something else doesn't work properly!
Last time I used the 'CF Root Kernel' it was the 'Speedmod' one and then I tried the 'CWM_XX_5.6' one - both same results!
Even installed busy box, binaries, permission fix and a whole load of other apps to get it working - Nothing!!
I will wait for now.
Dr.Ketan
Tried the method you suggested in the thread 1st page.
Cleared 'caches, wiped dalvik'
Used 'hardcore-speedmod k3-11 Kernel' to root
Used triangle away 1.70 to remove triangle.
Used 'busybox v9 - installed binaries'
Turned 'on' wifi switch on phone, mesaage box appeared middle of screen:
'ADD NETWORK, TURN ON WIFI' ?? - when wifi was clearly switched on!
Doesn't make any sense.....:silly:
just turn off and On
Have you any error using wifi connection?
Turn 'ON' and screen message is 'ADD NETWORK' - 'TURN ON WIFI' ?
I will try over the weekend to see if I can pick up spurious signals around the town to be sure and will let you know.
Just seems peculiar in relation to the last time I rooted using the CWM.zip when WIFI worked, rooted using Odin and Wifi didn't work.
Give it try!

Do you know which ROM is installed? You need to reflash it (no wipe needed) to replace the wrong files with the original ones.
Next time always make a nandroid backup if you're new and messing with system files
If not maybe someone here who is using Stock ROM can upload those two files? It shouldn't matter when they come from a newer stock version.

Hi, I wanted to change the ROM of my old GT-N7000 as I recently got a Note 4 but I did what I should have never done.
I wanted to install TWRP to get the Spirit ROM. TWRP app downloaded well from the Play Store and I did it!
When I restarted the Note I stayed with the Samsung Galaxy Note screen and since several days I cannot found out anything to install a new Rom.
I searched the Web, found out a few guide saying to install CWM but I don't have any Recovery mode available now.
I still get the connection in Odin when I put the Note in download mode but that's all.
Please, if someone could help and tell me what to do. I'm a homeless and all my money is going into cyber to search for solutions.
I really need one.
Thanks anyway...
Really, nobody can help?

I just don't have any idea of I could install.
Everything I tried failed or links are too old and things are not available anymore.
I do think I should format or erase everything and reinstall something but what and from where ?

Okay, so...
From my old stuff in an external HD i Have this :
ROM STOCK WIPE SAMSUNG - N7000XXLC1_N7000OXALC1_OXA (GingerBread).zip
Rooted Stock Odex N7000XXLC1 (GingerBread France).rar
XEU-N7000XXLT9-20130611091825 (Jelly Bean Euro).zip
In the link you gave me they ask to download a firmware from SamMobile but they are 3 for the French GT-N7000 and my last update was a 4.1.2 working with any provider, even in Spain (I do live in Spain). Secondly, one have to be a premium member to download those firmware.
I think I should be able to install what I need using files I already have but Odin doesn't recognize .zip or .rar files and I don't know what to do. I upgraded the system a few years ago and don't remember how.
I also have no idea if zhat i recently did with TWRP changed partitions size and if it is the case then I have no idea of how to use PIT files.
Also, those guides refer to versions of program not available anymore and sometimes they changed names of buttons...
Have you repartitioned your phone? Those .zip files have .md5.tar files and odin recognise then in the AP section. I think that the 1-st .zip maybe is firmware. For download firmwares only you need to register for free to download firmwares with slow download speed (aproximately hour or two for downloading a single firmware file).

No I didn't change size of partitions...
I finally tested a XEU-N7000XXLT9-20130611091825 (Jelly Bean Euro) I had (don't know where it comes from). Unziped and opened in Odin with the AP button.
It installed this new ROM and the phone started but is not rooted anymore. I have now a 4.1.2 which doesn't seem to be one a got before,
At least I can start the phone...
What surprise me is to see the TWRP app on the phone screen and also SuperSU. SuperSU say the phone is not rooted.
Now, I suppose I have to forget everything about TWRP and must think about CWM no ?
If I want to test and then, install different ROM I sometimes see that TWRP is the one needed to do the job...
What do you think I should do now ?
Root the device using CWM or something different ?
You can try everything you want in the Android development section but this time follow the steps as they are and use the kernels and recoveries that are suitable for the deserved rom. Probably your Note is with custom 4.1.2 now. I am now using my Note with Leanige OS, based on CM12 and android 6.0 and am not having problems plus the phone is running very smooth and fast. This rom is using own Kernel, recovery and google apps(gaps) package.

You really interest me...
I'm surprised cause it's because I found out a guide to instal a 6.0.1 which needed TWRP that drive me to install it.
I'm really confused too because I downloaded TWRP app from the Play Store and it accepted to downlñoad and install the app to my phone. It also accepted to download the Rom and it's when I restarted the device that I met me with an unusable phone...
So ?...
Sure, if I wasn't alive I wouldn't have done that but is it all my fault ????
I would ne glad to get all the steps you did and files you got to install your ROM on mine Ç(as far as it speak french and spanish too )
Is it "Leanige OS" or "LineageOS ?
What about the battery ? The autonomy ?
And I must say I'm a homeless and don't have a computer with a 22= screen in my backpack. Also I have only 1 Gb of data each month so...
Most of the time when I have problem that means I have to go to cyber and this is never free....
Then I cannot really read everyday everything about all my devices ( and I'm not only speaking about phones)
Anyway thanks a lot to everybody who help me...
This is what I use now : https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note/development/rom-nightowl-alpha1-t3255536 It is stable and usable as a every day phone. I followed every step Bauner wrote and I don't have issues for now. Battery life depends on the use of the phone and how old is the battery. Mine is 2012 and it can hold 1 day and it is logical.
Try using Kies to restore it. I had to use Kies to update the OS on my bratty little sisters Note as she had gotten it running full throttle all the time.

Hi, I will try now to upgrade the ROM but wanted to ask you if you make any change to your partition size and if yes what did you do, I mean how much place did you allow for the system?
Tell me if your phone is rooted and how you did it and if you have CWM or TWRP installed please...
Thanks
I downloaded those two files:
N7000_STOCK_PIT.zip => In case I have to reinitiate partition size one day
n7000_(16gb)_4_6_8_10_12gb.zip => Cause I think this one should be the one I need.
I suppose I should be allowed to use the ROM I just previously installed which give me a 4.1.2
Well....mine is repartitioned with 8GB internal and 5gb for sdcard0. It is rooted of course with TWRP. Rooting comes with the rom. It has SU instaled and to root the device you only need to go in the dev options and to tick on the root acess.

I am dowloading this https://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=25384 and I am a little bit surpised cause of the file size...
It should be bigger for a full OS no?
I'm a little bit stuck with this http://opengapps.org/?arch=arm&api=6.0&variant=micro
What version should I get and how did you install TWRP ? The las version of this ROM must be installed with it...
Well I lied to you. I am using Philz touch CMW recovery and sorry for that. The size of the Rom is normal. With the Gapps you just need to hit the download button (red one) and flash it later. Install could be not a big problem. The steps are in the post. If you didn't find them here they are: Copy Rom + Google Apps to your sdcard.
3.flash PhilZ-cwm6-XXLT6-XSA-5.06.1.tar.md5 (https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=745425885120702299) to get cwm recovery by using odin or mobile odin
4. boot into recovery
5. flash this kernel https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95887005526788121 to get an updated cwm recovery
(this step will make your old rom unbootable stuck in the n7000 screen but you can boot into recovery with press and hold "home" and "volume+" buttons and power on your phone)
6. you need to reboot! your device now to recovery
7. you are now in the updated recovery and you need to do a factory reset (and to go sure you should also format the /system partition)
8. you can now install the rom and gapps and reboot your device
