As many other users, I am facing an awful battery life. I have tried several roms and tips.
I have about just 10 hours... so it means I have to take a charger with my at all times..
What's on average your battery life on this device?
Any good advice to improve it?

BTW, now I use this rom [ROM][AOSP][4.2.2][UNOFFICIAL] SuperNexus 2.0 - I9000 - BUILD 3 / 21.02.2013
As I had been told that "stock roms" would be more careful with battery life... however, I can't find the right modem for it... and it seems 3G is comsuming most of my battery resources by now..
For correct modem it depends on where you stay or built up areas as i use
ZSJPG and thats for Hong Kong and I am in the UK
Battery life is awesome and wifi/3g connectivity

Fellows, i just bought my SGS a few days ago , and the moment i bought it i upgraded it to Arabic stock froyo and a friend recommended to use stock+Voodoo-5.0.3-Froyo-GT-I9000-XXJPX kernel
i used it , got 1424 on quadrant and it was very nice in performance but i got strange battery life, it didn't last for more than 10 hours with everything switched off.
so i returned back to stock froyo (pda I9000 jpjpf, phone I9000 jxjpd) and now i got nearly 24 hours of battery life.
what confuses me is that, during using voodoo, the battery was during the first 2 charging cycles of its life, and when i returned to stock froyo , it got into the 3rd charging cycle, and now its moving on towards getting better in battery life.
so my question is , do you think that the kernel was responsible for this strange battery life, or the battery was warming up and needed to be charged and discharged to get into its performance.
also , any suggestions about kernel for battery life with good performance, personally i did like the phone when it was on voodoo @ 1424 on quadrant
please help , and sorry for explaining a lot
thanks
Quadrant is a false test when it comes to use and responsive phone .

thanks for your reply
i did like the phone when it was on vodoo, regardless of quadrent
my aim is to know about battery life

Read the battery faqs and posts on this very page .
But battery life is very very variable .
jje
i am afraid that battery faq does not have an answer to my question
i want to know if the change in kernel is responsible for that strange battery condition
or it was that the battery was at its first charge and discharge cycle?
Going from 10 to 24h of battery life, it could be a battery stats problem, it happens when changing ROMs.
But to answer your question, I dont think voodoo is responsible for the battery drain. Personally I use SpeedMod (without lagfix) with Froyo JS3 and it works really well battery-wise and performance-wise.
you don't think that voodoo is responsible ,
well that's some good news for me actually cuz i did like my phone's performance when it was using voodoo's kernel
thanks for sugesting speedmod , will read about it for sometime and see if i dare to take this action again , cuz battery life is a must for me due to my work
i can't stand the phone that needs more than one charge per day
any more ideas everyone?
I also use speedmod and battery life is excellent. Even with heavy use I get over 24 hours no problem. If I was to use it just as a phone I think I could get 3 days use.
And yes, I agree that your battery stats were probably a little messed up and should settle after a few days of use.

I'm using SpeedMod with SeaARMS' JL2 ROM and the battery lasts much longer. If you have a Galaxy S on Bell Mobility it's the best option to keep the 850Mhz radio working.
Hey guys,
I've been wondering around for a while, and I've pretty much read every single FAQ and major ROM development threads...
But I was wondering if anybody found a "best" ROM for battery!
I've tried a few, and found that Cognition seems to drain the battery pretty quickly... Phoenix 4.5 seemed to last quite a while, but the new 5.2 seems to drain it quite quick now again!
I don't really care if my phone's slow in some parts, but I'd really like it if I could extend the battery even by a little bit... I work 8 hours a day, and my phone has no battery after I finish work (which seems extremely absurd).
I've also tried to do the battery hints and tips in: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=806211 with no luck...
If anybody can give me a yell on the ROM they found which lasts the longest... It would be pretty awesome!
TIA!
P.S. Also, if somebody can just give me a quick run down on the difference between ROMs/Kernels/Modems? I'm just curious, and would like to know more!
Im using ParagonRC6.0 And Im getting great battery life and i use my phone alot. I get a day and half off a full charge with a lot of use. If i use it moderate then i can get 2 full days. Just let your battery recalibrate for a couple of days to improve battery life
Ive been on Cog4 (didnt change anything) and under normal use (maybe 1-2 phone calls a day, no more than 5 mins long, 15-30 txts, and iMobster stuff) i get around 24-36 hours. Overnite while sleeping (7-8 hours) i lose about 5-10%.
While on Serendipity 5.7 (with suckerpunch kernel and jk4 modem) i get 20-30hours. And overnite i lose 10-15%.
Precision 3.5 gave me the best battery life I have ever had. I was able to go over 25 hours on a single charge with heavy use nearly all day.
Edit: I haven't used Torch yet for a full day, but I will be testing the single charge on this ROM as well and posting my results once my Captivate get's to a about %5 battery.
The ROMs that have best battery life are precision 3.5 or Merx rom (which is based off Precision)...the slim ROMs usually run very low memory which is a lot less stressful on your battery...Right now I'm running Supernova 2.3 and I can go 12-15 hours before my battery is completely dead and I'm a moderate to heavy user (facebook, XDA, youtube, etc.)
Thanks a lot guys, I'll try Paragon first... And also Precision! So many ROMs to try :3
Does Kernels/Modems do anything for battery life? I have no idea how these work though... If someone can explain it, that'd be rad!

If anything, I believe that the kernel and modem are the most important aspect of battery life. I wouldn't know too much about it, so maybe someone else can elaborate.
I found a thread with the battery life for different captivate roms, but they are all old versions of the roms . Can we update that thread with the latest gingerbread roms? Or maybe people can write a comment on this thread saying what rom they got the best battery life with? I am not in my house for around 13 hours a day on weekdays, and I use my phone extensively, so i rely heavily on my battery life getting me through my day and that is why I would like to know what rom, gingerbread preferably, has the greatest battery life. Thanks!
Its completely irrelevant as your battery life will differ from anyone elses...
Threads like this are generally discouraged as they nearly always result in petty squabbling.
Hi,
I have been using the MUI rom for atleast the two to three weeks and also bought the 3500mah battery as well. but still i am getting the battery about 8 hrs maximum with medium usage.
can anyone suggest me the better rom with better battery stats.
Thank you.
This thread might be closed since there is no best. My advice is use a i897 rom. They tend to offer better battery life in genera. Calibration is always a good idea and a few days to let it settle.

For battery use that bad you need help managing the battery use, it's not necessarily the ROM. You need a good program to analyze your battery use and figure out how you can make it better. I suggest you use BetterBatteryStats and go from there.
I recently updated my Galaxy Note N7000 with the latest Indian firmware... DDLSC.. But after the update, I am facing a lot of battery issues. The battery does not even last for a day. It used to be much better with the older firmware(ICS). Please suggest me anything to get maximum battery out of my phone.
I am willing to install any latest firmware from any other country as well. It is not a problem or any other custom ROM that will solve my battery problem! I really need a lot of battery backup for my phone as I am mostly out of my house.
Please help me!!
Battery is always aproblem wif the note... i suggest take a look at ebay they are offering a double battery bank for 2300 inr.. that will really help u to get battery as they are giving out a batterry of 5300 mah. I personally dnt think a custom rom can help...
P.s. - if i ever meet a nokia official... i wud suggest them to stop making phones and concentrate on making battries and start exporing them to samsung or iphones lolz...

Very often after flashing a new a battery problem happen, it's necessary to calibrate the battery using appli like Battety Calibration.
That's a problem for a couple of users, unfortunately.
Specially JB rom ! I've tried several tips, like switch off wifi, sync, Google now, multi windows, battery calibration etc, without success.
Still waiting a decent rom in the future? (dreaming is permitted, right? )
