I'm hoping that someone can port Ubuntu to Nexus 7 3G Version (Tilapia).
Yes... it sucks .. I have a tilapia too... I don't think the hardware should be that different !!

so is anyone interested in using the new Ubuntu 10.10 netbook edition on our nexus one or android phones?

I don't like Ubuntu but would definitely try it on the Nexus.
Is it possible to port/flash Windows Phone 7 to Optimus Black? I really want to give it a try if it is possible. If HTC HD2 got it, why can't OB?
htc hd2 was actually a windows mobile
But officially no win mobile 6.5 phone got win phone 7 update right?

yep
But that's probably because HD2's internal architecture is very likeable... It support Windows Mobile 6.5, WP7, Android (Froyo-Jelly bean )
Porting another OS on an Android device would be extremely hard!!! The only ones I know is ICS in a Nokia N9 and the HD2..
If you want to port WP for Optimus Black, you should just wait WP8 which will be far better than WP7 (But I don't really see the point in having WP on our device)
(Well, I'll look into porting Firefox OS when it'll be stable enough (We can currently run it on Crespo, SGSII, and GNex) or Open webOS)
Actually Windows Phone 7 OS only support snapdragon processors and our lg optimus black has an cortex A8 processor which is not supported by windows phone 7 hecne we cannot port it to optimus black

In Mark Shuttleworth's announcement of the name for the new version of Ubuntu (raring ringtail) there is a comment that by the next LTS release they want to have Ubuntu up and running on phone, tablet and tv. And it seems to suggest that the Nexus 7 will be the reference device for the tablet edition

I could of course be reading it wrong and getting the wrong end of the stick, its not exactly a detailed announcement ;p
Edit: someone at Canonical has released a video of them demonstrating Ubuntu on a Nexus 7 at the Ubuntu Developers summit http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2012/10/ubuntu-demoed-on-nexus-7-tablet
Yep, looks like RR will have early alphas for ARM based Android Tablets. Not a surprise that the tablets are supported but nice to see the official stance from Mark on this finally. Common leaks get out there fast please
Ubuntu on my nexus 7, I would really like to try that bring it on

I've been hoping for this for a while now!

Looks laggy. Firefox took forever to load
Looks interesting. I'd try it. I wonder how well the Linux apps will multitask on a Nexus 7 processor/RAM.
I don't think I'd be interested in running Ubuntu on my nexus. Ive run it on my laptops for years, but think it'd feel foreign and clunky on a touchscreen interface, even with Unity. After using and loving jellybean on my Nexus, I don't think I'd be able to switch to Ubuntu...
That could change once I actually try it though, ya never know.

I would love to dual boot this and android.

Hey everyone. Im sure that you have all heard about Ubuntu For Android. About a few months ago it was just an idea. But now there are over 50 phones supported by developers and about 50 more being worked on.
Ubuntu does officially support the Nexus 4, Nexus 7 (2012 version) and the Nexus 10, and the old Galaxy Nexus. Since they are all AOSP devices and ours is...well someone aosp, i was thinking i would give a go and see what i can do. There is a guide and lots of details and instructions on how to do this on their website:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Install
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Porting
If anyone wants to have a go at this and get in touch with me to work on this together ( i dont have much porting experience but i will try ) because i could use alot of help.
Thanks
PS:You WILL need Ubuntu 12 -14 (any version there). And since my laptop is a XXXX HP it doesnt like ubuntu 13.04 so im gonna have to get 13.10 and work from there since my pc is really really stupid.
Updates:
-After doing some searching. There are no devices in the 8930+ range of Qualcomm chip-sets that have been ported or are being ported. So we will have to either 1. wait or 2. start from scratch.
-Okay...we will also need CM10.1 to build from...and since we dont have cm10.1 i guess we could use the One Mini...if IF if they have it.
Do anyone have a plan for porting Ubuntu Touch to Nokia 7 plus? I had a look at their website on the porting guide but I'm afraid it's a bit over my head ?
