Nope. Sony would risk getting boycotted for distributing inferior devices to certain countries.
The only differences would be hardware (Japan has the IR Blaster) and regional software.

If country A receives the same device with worse quality than country B but for the same price, obviously theyre not gonna be happy. I dont know if its even legal to do so.

Simplified....
Sony won't give some countries better devices than others. There'd be uproar.

Sony Love?

Hello guys,
My family and Me believe Sony is an dependable brand name. I have everything Sony to my LCd tv to my laptop, and Now to my phone also. I also have Sony gaming system both psp and ps2. Anyway, If Sony made fridge I would have it.
basically, anyone else shares the same for SONY?

I think SONY is a reputable brand. They make LOTS of feature phones. Probably some of the most popular..... In their with LG, Nokia, Samsung, etc. They must be good to make HTC go with their SLCD's since Samsung cant make enough AMOLED's for the Nexus and Desire.
Each brand distinguished for a line of quality products, as for Sony I know they produce one of the best screens/TV´s/Displays/monitors and I own Sony on that products, but will never buy a Sony computer or Sony cell as there are better specialized companies for that:Toshiba - HTC
This is just my opinion

Sony is good, but I wouldn't depend on it for SLR cameras. I did just buy a pair of Sony headphones today, have another pair I bought a few months back, and a PS3, but that's it. Now...If canon made computers, guess what I would have lol.

True that....the walkman series and cybershot was hot...i had so many models...i think sony laptops are better...i own two of them and can say they perform well
Walkmans were all a success!!
But with all respect cellphones?? no way!
As Sony is the best in TV´s/screens etc, HTC is to mobile phones!
Each brand for what it was created to be the best, not any company can be the best in all fields.
Now because globalization and many other factors manufacturers want to produce all kind of articles to get more $
But I personally can´t imagine myself buying a Hunday refrigerator, a cocacola watch, an LG car, or a Sony mobile...

I would be more of a sony whore if I had more money
Currently only got a sony surround sound (its awesome!) but I have a really poor tv
I have had 2 sony phones (k810i, k750I) both were very good build quality and decent cameras. No problesm with them ever.
I have had many issues with HTC and Samsung phones though.
If only I had a Sony TV

sry i cant share ur opinion... for me, sony is crap. they are not only extremely arrogant ("there is no newgen consoles till we say it!"), their products are mostly cheap build and expensive.. i say that cause i know so many ppl who had / still have problems with sony things.. especially mobile phones.
the x10 is the first phone since years wich is really good again, but still not good enough..
+ sony always thinks they have the only good technologies(from memorycards, to own cableplug, own fileformats and so on..), but their only real win was the blu ray, almost every other thing failed?
at last, i really, really dislike their wannabe futuristic design, but thats just me..
probably im the only one who feels like that, i dont know.. its just not my make

Hobs - In modern British English usage, the word refers to a cooktop or hotplate, as distinguished from an oven.

[Q] Sharing ROMs between the T and the TX?

The only differences between the T and the TX, as far as I know are:
- TX has a slightly smaller but removable battery
- TX is a bit thinner and the physical buttons are positioned differently
All the rest is identical, hardware-wise. Does that mean I will be able to use Xperia T ROMs on the TX and vice versa?
EDIT: To clarify, I'm referring to global variants only, not the upcoming AT&T version. So LT30p vs LT29i, basically.

Unlikely.
The HTC flyer and the HTC View are almost the exact same.. literally you could confuse one for the other in some cases.. and they can't swap roms.
The T and TX may be close enough that the roms require minimal effort to port but, that doesn't mean roms are interchangeable.

Not what I wanted to hear but thank you!
Also, I thought the Flyer vs. View were also GSM vs CDMA? Not sure how much more of a difference that makes, but I'm curious.
Not interchangeable most likely, but I can bet many devs would make the few changes to allow the same ROM be applied to either device. I'm thinking of the HTC Desire HD and the Inspire. Most custom ROMs were available for either device. The ROM would simply query the hardware and the changes would apply during boot or get copied to cache.
T and TX are almost exact the same but not identical hardware wise. But i think Custom ROMs will be T and TX compatible.

Not identical? Could you elaborate? Sorry if it's a stupid question, but I'm really curious. I'm looking at a side-by-side comparison on GSMArena (I believe they took specs from the white papers) and I'm seeing the same CPU, same GPU, same RAM, same radio bands, etc...
Comparison: http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4899&idPhone2=4959
only the tx has removeable battery ... that got nothing to do with roms
I am thinking of buying TX from China, I might try to flash T rom in it since China FW do not have google service framework in it.
Does anyone know if the fw brick it , can I flash back to china fw by using flashtool (locked bootloader) ?
Not the same exact CPU at least not for the AT&T variant as it has LTE and uses the MSM8960 chipset. Xperia TX uses the MSM8260A.

Ah yes... I wasn't thinking of the AT&T version at all. I'm only concerned with comparing global variants, where I believe the T and TX both use MSM8960A.

There is
GSM Flyer
Wifi only Flyer
CDMA View.
Yet, there is still differences in the kernel which keep the two devices from being able to swap roms.
I'm not incredibly sure about all of the details but, I know it's caused a number of problems.
The main point I'm trying to get at is a lot of it will depend on how many people get each device and how much dev support they receive. If the flyer/view had more devs (and believe me, they tried recruiting.) Then we would probably be in a much happier place.

I brought my ZR with my friend and he brought the SP together. SP is good for who want a cheaper price, not targeting for a better camera. For SP, you can set the notification LED colors for different apps but ZR cannot. If you think the prize for ZR is reasonable, and you want better battery experience, quad cpu, waterproof phone, replaceable battery, then ZR is a good choice. SP seems a little heavier as it uses metal case I think. One more major difference is that ZR has cover for micro usb and headset plug. It's a little inconvenient but some will take those covers as a plus as they can protect the phone from dust. Also ZR is obviously smoother in my point of view.
All in all, if you don't think price is a major problem and the function of the phone is important to you, then I think ZR is your choice.

If you just want an android phone, look at samsung or lg.
If you want Xperia now, go get t2 ultra, its screen is better, front cam is better, and runs 4.4.2 (same as ZR), and can app2sd.
The only situation when I will recommend this phone (again, in 09/2014) is the fact that it can switch batteries.

I want a phone not more expensive than this phone. I checked for T2 ultra. It's cpu, gpu, memory is lower than ZR
I just wanted to know if ZR devices have any particular problem? does it get new updates?
Thanks

Yes, the specs are slightly lower classed, but the ability to app2sd sort of nailed it.
As for update, for ZR, after the planned 4.4.4, I highly doubt 5.0 will ever come.

Price/Performance: I get around 33U$ I still find it worth the price, now some shop in my country was down price to 26U$.
Water-Resistance: I found it easier to clean, Use when you go to bathroom etc.
Prime camera: The main reason I'm still use Sony... Even an after-sales service suck so bad in my country.
Not Recommended
Price/Performance: Some phone have cheaper price with nearly performance: like Moto G, Xiaomi etc.
Water-Resistance port-cap: I found sometime it made me annoy to open, which quite difficult on this model(I'm use Xp Acro S before, it whole lot easier)
Front Camera: yeah let have VGA front cam... which can only find in a phone below 20 U$ (except from sony lol)
Speaker sound: Since it on the back of the phone you barely hear it clear or loud... except you turn it around, turn a volume up or used you hand to redirect a sound.
Internal Storage: 8GB.... while system eat up nearly 3GB. and no way to move app to SD card without a root.
And some rumor I heard was All Z series will have Android L for sure.

Still no more trust worthly source talk about this yet.
Cons: You pay extra for the xperia brand, get a Xiaomi or Oppo etc. if you dont care about waterproofing etc.
Pros: ITS WATERPROOF. Also its exactly the right size for a phone IMO.
Totally worth it.

Get the Z3c or wait for the next version (Z5c)?

Hello all,
I'm not very technical, but wanted some advice on my next phone purchase.
Currently have the S6 and hate it. Terrible battery life and miss front facing speakers from my HTC M7. I also want a smaller phone and water resistance is great if I can use my phone in the shower! So... decided on getting the compact.
From my research it sounds like the Z3c successor may not be too far away, but will probably sport a qualcomm 810 chip which I heard overheats and lose magnetic charging (I much prefer this to wireless charging). But a better screen, fingerprint scanner and newer design appeal to me too which I'm sure the Z5c will have.
Can you help me decide whether I should wait or just grab the Z3c now?
Thanks,
Jesus Eats Uranium
hi jesus. one thing to point out, some folk have been having issues with the magentic charger in that its been pulled out of its socket. sony were not repairing them under warranty either. I believe that this was mainly happening to folk with third party super strong mangetic chargers, but I personally wont even risk using the sony one as I do not trust the design. it it breaks you lose waterproofing or have to pay a decent chunk for repair.
as for the rest, well its its hypothetical but a bird in the hand and all that. plus price might be a factor. the z3c is without doubt the best phone I have ever used. as someone who values battery uber alles, its been a joy. plus with a very decent 5.1.1 update just out, there isnt much to not like.

a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. something good now is better than the promise of something better later. you know what your dealing with etc.

Heya, good points.
On the magnetic charger point -- I've been using Sony's Magnetic charging cable regularly (it's the only way I charge phone) for last ~7 months, no issues so far. Phone make is from Nov '14. So the issue you mentioned must be from early batches or I just got lucky!
Never mind....
PuffDaddy_d said:
At this point in the life-cycle of the Z3C, you're better off waiting for the successor to be released BEFORE making your decision. If you get the phone now, you'll be purchasing a phone that is nearly 2 years old, which is considered outdated in the mobile technology world. Do you realistically see yourself continuing to use a 2 year old device for 2 more years while watching all the new devices being released around you? If the Z5C doesn't have the features you want or the price is simply too high, then you should get a Z3C on the cheap and call it good.

I'd say get a Z3 Compact and enjoy installing a pre-rooted 5.1.1 on it and immediately have the best, most-compact phone out there, running the most up to date Android. The phone, while less than a year old, is no slouch and still beats newer phones that have come out this year. It's battery life is fantastic and I don't think you'd regret it, especially if you can get one for a decent price. As they renamed the Z4 to be Z3+ in the US with no new compact model, it's not certain when the next compact model will come out, but I think that implies Sony is leaning on the Z3c for a while still.

There is now a method for rooting that will not require you to unlock your boot loader, which is what causes the camera quality to crap out. So no worries. Check the sticky in the general forum.
