Good Day Mates,
I'm facing a little problems with my 2 newly acquired LG Optimus 4X HD.
I just bought one for me & my girl friend, both phones are amazing & everything with no problems what so ever but when they are restricted to "Use only 2G Networks" as a mean of saving battery...there is no data transmission what so ever & everything is dead but soon as any switch back to 3G it works fine & all contents are synced and can access online.
so any ideas ???

In my case 2G is avaiable from a local provider who works in cooperation with mine. So i Have to put local roamin on(Custo Nexus I think in stock rom there is just a Gerneral roamin option). Maybe the same thing works for you. But in Stock I didnt needed it to do I think. Check your bill after setting this so you can confirm that no roaming costs appear.
Sorry for my English

I have an Orange branded TyTn II, and it never connects up to 3G even though the area i live in is well covered by 3G.
It mostly stays on G. It has changed to E (EDGE) on occasions but thats it.
I am from the UK and live in the yorkshire area.
Anybody got any ideas, or do i need to speak to Orange?
Thanks

Did u check the band settings in settings/personal/phone?
I went into the settings and it says it is set to Auto.
So i would presume it would pick upthe best signal?

Yes, at least that is doing in my case.
If that is the case any other ideas as to what it could be, and why the phone does not detect 3G?
Thanks

Where are u from?
Go to commanager and check if there is 3g turned on.
Did u try to search this forum?
Check my first post for location.
In comm manager there is no option for 3G, the only other choice i can see is data connection, and i cannot turn this on.
The Connection button is only used to disconnect active data connections.
I ,along with some friends, have also been having problems with Orange's 3G the last few days (I just came back to the UK so I'm not sure how far back the problem started - my friends say its been like this for at least a week). Not sure if it is related though. Oh, I live in Essex.

U can install advanced config tool, and there under menu u can choose the layout of the commanager(there u can put the 3G button on the screen). But it could be the above mention reason.
My problem just got more complicated.
Have a look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2606166
Hi alt236,
The strange thing is my unit has recently come back from repair, and the main board has been replaced, under warranty, because of a dodgy ROM flash, and the 3G still does not work.
Weird.
Have you tried with a different SIM card?
Ok, I just had a chat with Orange support. Thankfully I got a pretty helpful guy
Anyway, according to him, Orange does not fully support 3G yet (at least not officially) as only about 50% of their masts are 3G enabled. This means that they get network congestion problems causing devices not to connect or drop connections unexpectedly.
His advice was to try to connect at different times of the day, and to force the connection on the Kaiser (not to set it to auto).
As I live in an area with 4-5 3G masts immediately around me (yes, I know I will die from cancer ) its a bit weird for me to be unable to connect, but I'll give it another go, at a unsociable hour (4 in the morning for example) and see what happens then.
He did ask me if I wanted to get my phone tested though, so if it doesn't work tonight, I'll send it off and hope for the best.
Nice One alt236, that would explain the lack of 3G.
I will give it a go at different times of the day and see what happens.
Thnx
No luck with my overnight test.
I passed by an Orange shop in town this morning and I spoke with one of the staff members there.
He proposed that before I ship it out, I should call 156 which is technical support for data enquiries (MMS/WAP & WEB/Email) and PDA's as they can see what my phone is actually trying to do when connecting and push updated settings to it.
I've tried calling a couple of times today, but the queue is too long. I'll post back when I have news.
i have the exact same problem, please let me know what orange have to say!
I live in Japan, and use a Softbank SIM card from an iPhone 3G. For the past few months I have been running Cyanogenmod 5.06 with no issue, Yesterday I installed Froyo with this ROM.
bit.ly/9l3sBM
Everything works great minus connecting to 3G. In japan 2G is no longer used therefore I cannot even make a phone call.
I have checked and rechecked to make sure I am using the correct APN settings.
Any ideas? Could my carrier be blocking it. May it be a problem with the ROM? I did a sum check before installing.
I really would like to use 2.2 as its much faster and the battery life is at least 2X longer.
Thanks,
Brandon
So apparently there was an issue with my automatic cell phone payment, and once my phone disconnected from the network it was not allowed back on. I payed it, and it now works.
Unable to connect to internet with Froyo on N1

Hi guys,
I really need your help with this one, here's the deal :
1. just bought my second SGS from vodaphone CH last week.
2. the phone came with 2.1 stock
3. i was not able to get data connection (able to make phonecalls and sms, but no 3g)
4. my apn settings are correct (i have another sgs configured same way on same network)
5. decided to upgrade to 2.2 (JPH) hoped this would help - NO
6. updated MODEM & CSC to the SAME ones working on my second SGS - STILL NOT WORKING
what else could it be ???

Here's what's there, can you see what is wrong ?
Try this, worked for me
This is a weird coincidence. I have (had!) the exact same problem.
My problem was when I reflashed my galaxy S with stock firmware back again, I lost 3g connection. Using a different sim (which supports only Edge) I was able to get edge connection but with my sim, there was no connection.
Here's what I did. It seems when you select the band selection to "Automatic" it somehow didnt get registered properly even though it showed up on the settings->Wireless and network->Mobile networks->NetworkMode. Even though it read GSM/WCDMA (auto mode) it wasnt actually the case.
So - type *#2263# on your phone to enter the Service Mode's Band Selection.
There see if first row is [1] AUTOMATIC[] OR [1] AUTOMATIC[*]
In my case it wasnt selected ie. there was no *. So I clicked on it and did that selection myself and baam!! H connection. It connected even before I exited from service mode.
I tried a 2g and 3g card after that multiple times and it connects properly to E or H from then on.
Give it a try. I am hoping that your APN is set properly.
Anup
Thanks for the help, but unfortunately this didn't work :-(
1. Automatic was selected.
2. Ive tried to play around with the options there and within the mobile networks.
Nothing works ... this is so frustrating :-(

Why didn't you just call Vodafone and get their help before flashing the phone If you already have another SGS configured same way at the same location with 3G, then chances are there is a hardware problem with the phone.
Anyways, try contacting vodafone, they might still do something about it (despite the fact you have voided their warranty by flashing).

I tried all the configuration for the said links but unfortunately I still cannot make my 3g work. Although I found in one forum that when he changed his SIM card to a new one (probably a more recent one), he was able to make his 3g working. Can anyone confirm this? My sim card I think is about 4 to 5 years old but when in my Nokia N95 before, I was able to have 3g connection (it is the one instead of the antenna signal icon in turns into 3g icon).
Evening good people, I've had my Nokia X2 for some months now and It is the phone I've waited for since my N9. It is perfect in every way except for one issue! I have only Edge signal! No 3G or 3G plus! Setting the sim to 3G only looses all connection. When I first bought the phone it was region locked to china, all language apps came in chinese. After some tinkering I re branded the phone with the Nokia care suite, however this did not fix the problem (neither did Flashing radio, flashing stock rom). Like I've said this is the dream phone and the fact that I can only use it on edge kills me, it's virtually useless without wifi. I'm currently using the LollipopMOD posted here. I've done what I can someone please help! thanks
Hi man . Can you flashing nokdroid for your phone ?
If you can . Do this . Then select english language and config this . Go to settings . And connection setting and select 3g only for your 3g sim card . But seee this you select sim is 3g .
Select your siginals to automatic . Then rebot you phone . If you you dont have siginal . Your phone or your sim is not working correctly . Go to the phone rippears .
Will done .
I only get Edge network too, with T-Mobile USA. I think maybe your carrier, like mine, doesn't support the same frequencies used by the X2DS? I don't like Edge network either, but sometimes you have to take the good with the bad.
