So now that there is a kernel for GT-I9070P, I get to venture a little more with my phone. I see many recommendations to install BusyBox. Looking in the Play Store I see: Stephen (Stericson) with BusyBox & BusyBox Pro and I see JRummy Apps Inc. with BusyBox Installer & Busybox Installer Pro. Does it make a difference if I use JRummy Apps Inc. or Stephen (Stericson) version? Is there a big difference between the two?

I believe you already have one. Try typing busybox in terminal emulator or check /sbin or /system/bin, if there is file called busybox.

Nope , stock ROMs do not have busybox .
I've been a long time user of Stericson's busybox though
All flaming/bashing posts from this account represent LewisGauss' opinion.
I do have BB embedded located in /system/bin/busybox as posted here and here. I did not install BB, it came embedded with some other app (SD Maid or Titanium possibly). Since my questions were drifting off topic in those other discussions, I started a new thread in the General forum hoping to get more BB info.
CallMeVentus...You recommend Stericson's busybox in this thread but recommended JRummy BusyBox Installer here.
I guess I just need to try both and keep what works best for me. Thanks to all for the replies.

Lol I thought the Stericson's busybox was called Busybox installer ? That's what it's always been named in the Play Store , I believe you must've mistaken me lol

First, I thought that I missunderstood the OP. I thought that he has already P kernel, root etc. Not that he is just willing to install kernel, etc. The idea was that cocafe's updater-script uses busybox to dd the kernel, so logically it must be somewhere.

But by these screenshot you already have busybox. Busybox installer by Stericson or JRummy is just app to install busybox binary to your system, so it could be used from terminal. Typically it's /system/bin/busybox or /sbin/busybox. You can download apk install busybox from it and then uninstall apk without any harm to you busybox binary, that stays in system. It's very common that busybox comes installed during rooting process, cause it's feature that many root apps depend on.
Some reading about busybox
Am I correct or not?
For me Jrummy's app is a d*mn.Always bugging when i try to uninstall / install bb so i can say Stericson's app is better. :good:

Hi there.
As the subject of the topic, I install the busybox from the busybox installer and try to run the supercharger script... But it can't run...
Also even if I had installed the last busybox.... Titanium backup tells me I've installed the 1.18.4 (cuz it's in the app...)... Some one hate my same problem? I and if you solved the problem, and how do you do?
Thanks a lot for all of you and for your works, and this is the huge community in wich android users can trust!

Is it phone rooted? As for busybox try some other installers, there are few of them on the market. As for supercharger (and other scripts) init.d support is needed for them to run. Stock doesn`t have it. Maybe you will want to flash this v20Q, there is all ready for experimenting .
Thank you bro! every help will be appreciated, and your's gotta me to find the solution... so ... great man, i'm thanking you by pushing the right button!
hi,
I don't know if this is specific to fire or a general cyanogen question, but I work with fire- so there it is.
According to the tutorials I see (most notably Rootjunkies https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dwguHoxTvo) when I install CM I also need to put in SU in TWRP (or any other bootloader). Can I not to? What would happen?
I'd rather that apps I'll install be at their maximum segregation possible and have no loopholes to wiggle through.
Thank you very much.
You don't have to start a new thread, for every question
you have a few other threads, that you were are getting answers in
starting a new thread just means you have to wait
till someone with an answer sees your new thread
rather than getting an notification that you replied in an existing thread
it's up to you...

Oh,
I actually thought it's more proper and organized that way. Separate issues- separate threads, and only those who are knowledgeable on that question would reply .
I'll try better next time.
thank you.

SU and SuperSU are entirely different things. SuperSu is a root manager that controls application access and elevated permissions. It is optional with CM 12.x which has an integrated root manager. SuperSU is a well respected third party tool that offers additional capabilities.

Wait, so if I understand you correctly CM already comes rooted?
Also, SU- so this is the command/file that gives the instruction to android to give administrative rights?

Yes - but disabled by default. Consult the CM 12-1 thread or do a Google search for instructions on enabling developer options for access to the root toggle.

Is there some way to remove the capability, not just turn it off? like with a stock?
and when i deny this su command to the kernel, does it happen in programs like supersu?
by the way, I wanted to thank you but apparently I'm limited to 8 thanks a day.

Short answer - no. Curl up with a preferred beverage and search engine to advance your understanding of root, root managers and SU.

I saw this feature in SuperSU app and it's very useful when you try to investigate what app did when it got sudo rights. For now we only see that app use /system/bin/sh command but not what was after. Is it possible to implement that feature in Magisk?

Any update?
Is there any way we can log the whole su command.,
Eg. /system/bin/sh cp build.prop build.prop.bak.
Instead of, Jus the binary path, "/system/bin/sh".

Currently, no.
That is because SuperSU does something similar to the Xposed, but not as modular as Xopsed, SuperSU simply hooks into the invoked shell to see what commands did the Shell run

If supersu can do it superuser from Magisk also can do it. Question was is Magisk developers will add this feature in future.

The answer is currently no, but SuperSU is pretty closed source and was built from scratch according to Chainfire, and I have not seen any CM-based open source root solution do this

Hi,
When checking what App is doing with root, I start to think on this. After install the old SuperSU in an Emultor, I discovered that this App has two options for "su log": normal and full. The full option saves not only which App has called to the su binary, but what commands are executed.
So, as more and more unsecure Apps are running, I suggest to support this functionality inside the MagiskSU. I feel it's a must have!
Regards.
The full log is in paid version of SuperSU (I bought) one and right, you can see all commands executed as root. That is very useful feature to investigate what app is doing.

Yes, you can found it in the "paid" version... or enable it in the config menu.
In any case: "That is very useful feature to investigate what app is doing"... today is a must have!
Any chance to get this feature in Magisk please? I'm trying to find which app is remounting system as R/W and checking Magisk superuser logs is the first point of troubleshooting, though it didn't solve my mystery.

Hello, i just check it on Magisk v17.1, and effectivly the only one detail info that we get is "/system/bin/sh", no more.
You should open an issue or an pull request on the Magisk repo, Jhon could take a look on it.
Hi, I'm trying to change the package name of the apk of the Xposed Installer...
I tried with the material design xposed Installer:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/material-design-xposed-installer-t3137758
The first time I changed only the name package and the app doesn't recognize xposed
The second time I changed every de.robv.android.xposed.installer in the manifest in de.robv.android.xandro.installer but the app doesn't open...
I'm trying this to hide the Xposed Installer from Remote Play PS4 that doesn't work with xposed installer Installer (It recognize the .xposed in the name package) (and yes I tried sudohide but It doesn't work for me, maybe because of android9)
Anyone with more knowledge can help me?

Not sure if this helps but using xprivacylua there are some custom hooks you can download to hide the exposed installer app. Worth a shot.

To be honest, I do believe that XPosed is detected by the Framework Binaries and not the App specifically (or Solely).
For example, if you were to look at an App's detection of Superuser...
With a flavorful of apps that manage Superuser, the detection of Superuser is made by locating the SU Binaries.
The above information is very brief but, pretty much to the point.
Your idea is not incorrect in itself but, you should be looking at this specific scenario in another light (aka the whole picture).
I don't use Magisk myself but, I've seen more successful posts for Magisk XPosed than the other options. I'm not stating that the other options don't work but, Magisk seems (to me) to be more successful.
Good Luck!

With xposed (without the Installer) the app works well, magisk also introduced the function to hide the word magisk from the application name and randomize the app package name
Anyway EdXposed Installer isn't detected, I Will use It when they will patch bootloops (or rovo release the official android 9 xposed)

Fairly easy with Magisk & Termux installed...
As said, install Termux(from Aurora Droid/Fdroid-NOT PlayStore) & run pkg/apt upgrade with a few repo updates & and then install Font Manager from Androidacy thru Magisk. Reboot. Thru Termux run "su -c manage_fonts"(no quotations), press 1 to change fonts or 2 and change emojis (just read directions as you get past "su -c...") and reboot when it asks thru Font Manager.
Gotham/OPSlate/ & especially IBMPlexSans are always running on mine. Solid module.

Hell no. Font manager doesn't allow using fonts they don't provide and that's if you can even download it. The ignorant Dev doesn't use GitHub and uses garbage androidacy. It's download hell because there's CAPTCHA puzzles, not actual one click CAPTCHAS that modern sites use. Don't support their garbage and always adblock if you feel like solving CAPTCHAS for whatever reason

You could always use Fox Magisk Module Manager if CAPTCHA is that big of a hassle... Wait 10 seconds and hit download.
I'm sure an individual font module thru Magisk would be the easiest route if you can find the one you're after
