I have a Samsung i9000T that I recently bought from a lady who said she forgot her password to it so she couldn't unlock it. So I bought it and tried factory resetting it so I could sell it to a friend of mine who wants to upgrade from an iPhone 3G. Well factory resetting did nothing, I did some digging and found out that it's a common problem for i9000's to have a csc file corruption. So I decided to flash, via odin, a stock firmware to the device. The firmware I decided on was a UK firmware because I couldn't find an american firmware for it. The flash was successful and I was able to boot the phone no problem. A weird thing was that all of the lady's data was still on the phone, so I contacted her and told her I could backup all of her pics and give them to her, which she happily said yes to. After that, I rooted the phone and installed cwm and then flashed Slim rom android 4.2.1 to the device. I then put a backup sim of mine in the phone and tested the phone. The problem I am having is I don't get any signal on the phone what so ever. I have all the ATT apn's on the phone and they look to be correct.
My question is, having flashed a UK firmware before anything somehow messed up the ability to connect to ATT here in the USA? And what course of action should I take to correct the issue with no signal? My friend is in the military and is being mobilized on the 1st of march so I would like to have a working phone for him before then as I will not see him for some time after.
Any help will be gratefully appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Just a question, has she ever reported it stolen? Has the IMEI number been blocked?
Find out the IMEI number and contact the original Network Supplier that the phone was used on and as them to check this. They'd be able to tell you if there are any issues.
Not trying to worry you but it happened to me. I had to return the phone.
I know the imei, but I don't know the original carrier for the phone... I assume it was ATT because that is the dominant carrier in my area. I'll get in touch with the lady I bought it from and see for sure.
On another note, I've tried testing the internal antenna by inserting a wire into the external port, but still no signal.
I'm going to try completely starting over and see how it goes this time.
Ok, so this thread can be closed now. I've solved the problem.. and feel like such a noob for some reason I was kinda spot on with what i thought was wrong but I had such a hard time finding files to fix it... untill i found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494493
AMAZING guide. Fixed my problem right up. Running 3G here in Texas on ATT. My friend will be so happy that he gets to take an android back over-seas with him.
Thanks to all of those who helped, I greatly appreciate it.

i bought a used g1 no physical problems took it into a shop and they couldnt find anything wrong with it internally so im guessing its a software issue....dont know if this guy i bought it from tried to mess with root and messed something up but im thinking its some sort of software stuff....can anyone PLEASE help!?!?!?!?! i either get this phone fixed or keep using my nokia that seems like its from 1998 and its killing me!!!!!!
What are the stats of the phone? You can check the versions in the settings\about phone area. Model #, Firmware version, Baseband version, kernel version and build number information would be helpful.
Is it already rooted? If not, you may want to go ahead and start reading up on the root process. Some of the newer builds may or may not help the issue. But if it isn't rooted and you arent getting a signal, it very well may be a network issue. Also, does your phone service have a data plan? Has the phone gone through and passed all of the sign-in procedure? (being from another country, I am not sure what all you have to do to activate your phone) Sim card good?
thats the problem i did a factory reset to input my gmail info and now i cant get past the damn activation screen! ive been through all the customer support through tmo and cant figure anything out!!! im goin crazy
also ive found this webpage http://developer.htc.com/adp.html that has recovery, system and radio images from htc and every time i try one of them it comes up and says no signature or no verification.......not sure what to do
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=452316
you cant apply those because your phone is not rooted. learn what your doing without randomly flashing everything that can killed your phone. and yes, you can kill your phone permanently flashing the wrong **** (i.e radio/spl)
I bought a second hand GT-I9305. After the first boot I dicided I wanted to flash it with the CM nichtly. I first rooted the stock rom, flashed a recovery and then flashed CM. Now the problem is the I can't make calls. When I dial a number the phone responds with 'call ended' before it even starts.
I don't know if the phone worked to begin with, the first thing I did is flash it.
I've tried different roms now and reverted back to the 4.3 factory image. None of that fixed the problem. I've also tried putting to 2 or 3G only which didn't help either. My phone still shows an imei number.
I'm completely aware of the fact that I might have done something very stupid. I flashed android devices before but I'm the type of person who reads the manual when it's to late.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to solve this problem?
I'm usint T-mobile on the EE network in the UK.
Problem still unsolved, more information
I'm giving some more information as the problem isn't solved yet.
I'm on a Pay as You Go sim that works fine in another phone (HTC Desire S). I've now also try to downgrade to 4.1.1 but still no luck. I've also tried different sims but the problem occurs with those sims as well.
The phone looks to be registered to the network, at least that's what it shows. Also, data works, I get a 3G and H+ connection,
I'm more than happy to provide more information. Any help is greatly appreciated.
SIM unlocked? Google xda sim unlock GT-i9305...
Phone not locked
Thanks for your reply. The phone is already unlocked.
IMEI blocked? If you're in UK try www.checkmend.com/uk/ it'll cost you 1.99 but might save you time & effort...
Hi there,
I have had a razr i (XT890 UK) for a few years and use it as a backup phone when travelling. When recently in Argentina I had the phone and a load of computer equipment stolen, luckily I had Cerberus installed on my phone and located the thief and managed to get a search warrant served on his house by the police and recovered all my equipment! But, now back in the UK the phone won't register on any UK networks. I just looked at the baseband and it appears to have been flashed to one called SUNRISE_SMB_REV30_V2_R3_ENZO_1251.B_SEC. Does anyone know if it's possible to flash my phone back to factory settings and functioning on a UK network, or if I should just forget about it?
Many thanks for any advice.
Yes, that should be possible. Have a look at the radio flashing thread and extract the radio image from an rsd lite zip file. I don't know exactly how it works, but it should be manageable
It could also be blocked if you've reported your phone lost or stolen to your insurance company or mobile network.
Thank you, i'll give it a go. I did report the loss to my mobile carrier since my sim card was in the phone but i didn't report thr phone's imei as stolen since there was a remote chance that it might get returned. Hopefully the flash of the BB will return it to life. Thanks again for the feedback, much appreciated.
Hello. First of all, I searched the threads before posting to no avail. So if I'm being repetitive I apologize. But here's the problem. I have a t mobile galaxy note 5. Unlocked. It's rooted. Running an arter97 kernel, and Jovys Darkstalker kernel mod. Everything is running smoothly and has been for months. Recently the only problem is my signal. 90% of the time it is saying searching. When I make a call it says not registered on a network. This is strange because I have done nothing to cause this change. No new roms, mods, updates, nothing and it's been working fine all this time. I know it is not location related because it was working 100% fine from day one until now. I tried *#06# to see if my imei was null, it is not.
I let the phone search, and then choose an operator, that works temporarily giving me signal, but eventually goes back to, and stays searching. I tried to pull up the service menu using *#*#4636#*#* to reset the radio, but that number is not pulling up the menu. I was told I may have a bad efs, but I never created a backup because until now I never had this problem and didn't know efs existed . I don't know what my next step should be. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!
Sn: if there is already a solution to this problem on this forum send me a link please!
Try using the Shortcut Master (Lite) to pull up the service menu.
I've also got same issue.
My phone is n920c. I've spent all day trying fix this issue by new rom, but I didn't find solution yet.
Kind Regards,
Marcin

Where did you buy your phone? Why don't you check to see if it's blacklisted first (maybe it took a little while to get listed). Never ceases to amaze me the number of people selling stolen/balance owing phones, or the number of people buying them, for that matter:
http://www.t-mobile.com/VERIFYIMEI.ASPX
Very true. I think i may have solved the problem though. My phone was bought outright through tmobile. I try not to by second hand phones for that exact reason.
I think i have may have found my the solution. For me it was a sim card related issue. Apparently my sim card was exhausted, or had expired. This is why my phone kept dropping me from the network and i had to keep reconnecting. Accordind to t mobile your sim expires 90 days of no use. This dodnt apply to me but whatever. Got a new sim, transfered the number, problem solved. Also something else that greatly boosetd my service. Take the case off. This was why i got the searching status in low service areas and only 2 bars of service in good reception areas. Crazy that in 2015 cases still affect service but it did greatly. So yea my fix was a new sim and take the case off. Very elementary. But i can say it was not root, kernel related thank god :good:
I recently bought a second-hand S10 off eBay with the intention of refurbishing it. The screen was badly damaged and I was able to fix it. The phone runs as it should but it turns out it has an issue. Whatever sim I put inside, It doesn't recognize it, Defaulting to Emergency calls only. At first, I tried checking the IMEI number to see if the phone was blacklisted; From what I could find nothing really helped. One website said that Telstra had blacklisted it in 2021 and most of the others said that it was clean with an expired warranty. (IMEI: 354616100350193) I am currently installing Aussie (TEL) firmware onto it to see if that helps due to the fact that it had Baltic (SEB) firmware on it. I'm not sure if the phone is locked to Telstra though, as I put in a Telstra sim and it also couldn't recognize that. Here is where it gets weird. I ended up trying to root the phone but forgot to flash an RMS disabler and the phone got bricked. I used Odin to reflash the Baltic firmware onto it and alas, it booted again, This time it had a data connection though. I used it for a while but then had to call someone, they picked up and we both said hello; Then the phone hung up and the issue started again. Somehow calling someone made the phone bug again but messaging that same person and using data didn't?
TL;DR: So the phone is capable of reading the sim but chooses not to, and somehow bricking it fixed it until I called someone.
