I recently bought a second-hand S10 off eBay with the intention of refurbishing it. The screen was badly damaged and I was able to fix it. The phone runs as it should but it turns out it has an issue. Whatever sim I put inside, It doesn't recognize it, Defaulting to Emergency calls only. At first, I tried checking the IMEI number to see if the phone was blacklisted; From what I could find nothing really helped. One website said that Telstra had blacklisted it in 2021 and most of the others said that it was clean with an expired warranty. (IMEI: 354616100350193) I am currently installing Aussie (TEL) firmware onto it to see if that helps due to the fact that it had Baltic (SEB) firmware on it. I'm not sure if the phone is locked to Telstra though, as I put in a Telstra sim and it also couldn't recognize that. Here is where it gets weird. I ended up trying to root the phone but forgot to flash an RMS disabler and the phone got bricked. I used Odin to reflash the Baltic firmware onto it and alas, it booted again, This time it had a data connection though. I used it for a while but then had to call someone, they picked up and we both said hello; Then the phone hung up and the issue started again. Somehow calling someone made the phone bug again but messaging that same person and using data didn't?
TL;DR: So the phone is capable of reading the sim but chooses not to, and somehow bricking it fixed it until I called someone.

I have a Samsung i9000T that I recently bought from a lady who said she forgot her password to it so she couldn't unlock it. So I bought it and tried factory resetting it so I could sell it to a friend of mine who wants to upgrade from an iPhone 3G. Well factory resetting did nothing, I did some digging and found out that it's a common problem for i9000's to have a csc file corruption. So I decided to flash, via odin, a stock firmware to the device. The firmware I decided on was a UK firmware because I couldn't find an american firmware for it. The flash was successful and I was able to boot the phone no problem. A weird thing was that all of the lady's data was still on the phone, so I contacted her and told her I could backup all of her pics and give them to her, which she happily said yes to. After that, I rooted the phone and installed cwm and then flashed Slim rom android 4.2.1 to the device. I then put a backup sim of mine in the phone and tested the phone. The problem I am having is I don't get any signal on the phone what so ever. I have all the ATT apn's on the phone and they look to be correct.
My question is, having flashed a UK firmware before anything somehow messed up the ability to connect to ATT here in the USA? And what course of action should I take to correct the issue with no signal? My friend is in the military and is being mobilized on the 1st of march so I would like to have a working phone for him before then as I will not see him for some time after.
Any help will be gratefully appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Just a question, has she ever reported it stolen? Has the IMEI number been blocked?
Find out the IMEI number and contact the original Network Supplier that the phone was used on and as them to check this. They'd be able to tell you if there are any issues.
Not trying to worry you but it happened to me. I had to return the phone.
I know the imei, but I don't know the original carrier for the phone... I assume it was ATT because that is the dominant carrier in my area. I'll get in touch with the lady I bought it from and see for sure.
On another note, I've tried testing the internal antenna by inserting a wire into the external port, but still no signal.
I'm going to try completely starting over and see how it goes this time.
Ok, so this thread can be closed now. I've solved the problem.. and feel like such a noob for some reason I was kinda spot on with what i thought was wrong but I had such a hard time finding files to fix it... untill i found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494493
AMAZING guide. Fixed my problem right up. Running 3G here in Texas on ATT. My friend will be so happy that he gets to take an android back over-seas with him.
Thanks to all of those who helped, I greatly appreciate it.
I bought a second hand GT-I9305. After the first boot I dicided I wanted to flash it with the CM nichtly. I first rooted the stock rom, flashed a recovery and then flashed CM. Now the problem is the I can't make calls. When I dial a number the phone responds with 'call ended' before it even starts.
I don't know if the phone worked to begin with, the first thing I did is flash it.
I've tried different roms now and reverted back to the 4.3 factory image. None of that fixed the problem. I've also tried putting to 2 or 3G only which didn't help either. My phone still shows an imei number.
I'm completely aware of the fact that I might have done something very stupid. I flashed android devices before but I'm the type of person who reads the manual when it's to late.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to solve this problem?
I'm usint T-mobile on the EE network in the UK.
Problem still unsolved, more information
I'm giving some more information as the problem isn't solved yet.
I'm on a Pay as You Go sim that works fine in another phone (HTC Desire S). I've now also try to downgrade to 4.1.1 but still no luck. I've also tried different sims but the problem occurs with those sims as well.
The phone looks to be registered to the network, at least that's what it shows. Also, data works, I get a 3G and H+ connection,
I'm more than happy to provide more information. Any help is greatly appreciated.
SIM unlocked? Google xda sim unlock GT-i9305...
Phone not locked
Thanks for your reply. The phone is already unlocked.
IMEI blocked? If you're in UK try www.checkmend.com/uk/ it'll cost you 1.99 but might save you time & effort...
Hello, my S5 mini has the first problems 1 year after bought, sometimes there was the error not registered on network. I have sent it twice to the support, but it was returned with "no error".
Now warranty over i have the error not registered on network, and can not use it for telefoning. The IMEI was correct, i can receive the network, but i can not register to it. I have the last marshmallow update flashed over OTA.
in former times, i have to remove the sim and reinsert it, to get it work again, but now this does not work. The simcard ist changed from the provider, and i bouhgt another simcard from another networkk, to test it.
Can i fix this problem?

Sam here, call me cynical but happened 6 months after phone ran out of warranty. Done all the basics, diff SIM from different provider reset phone, even re-flashed phone and no joy, tried all the modem software going and phone will only work on 2G. Samsung support said take it to repairers hmmm wonder what that's going to cost. New phone, New manufacturer I think. This is 2nd Samsung ive had issues with
I've only just got my first Android phone from a mate after obnoxiously using iPhones for years+, an S5 Mini that lags and ****s itself at every moment. I've now got a gangsaf little unit learning anything I can about this phone and after all my errors, not once have I seen this.
Just for relevancy, I have a G800Y model but I'm using one of the two kernels I could find that looked decent which the devs have listed under G800F and as far as I can tell or what I've read, there's no real difference other than a difference between the LTE bands they can access (someone please correct me if I'm wrong). If it would be so much as to ask what exactly is the software specifications of both of your devices? By this I mean:
- What ROM are you running; [Stock] or [Custom]?
- Have you rooted your device?
- Have you tried finding your device's most recent stock modem software?
- Did anything lead to this or is there anything you believe could have contributed to the occurence of such a problem?
- What carrier are you with in what location? If you do not wish to say for whatever reason, have you tried a search for devices with similar problems and a possible resolution method?
Hello, i have stock rom, IMEI is intact, not rooted,
Basisbandversion G800FXXU1CQB2
Kernel Version 3.4.39-895f4887
Buildnummer MMB29K.G800FXXU1CPL1
AP: G800FXXU1CPL1
CP: G800FXXU!CQB2
CSC: G800FDBT1CPL1
SIM-Card from Telekom or blau.de, both does not work.
I can receive the Providers, but can not connect.
Hello all.
I got myself an used SM-N950U originally from Verizon and sold as unlocked. Now my problem is I cannot connect to/use my sim with it. Originally I thought it was locked since there's an app that says "not a Verizon sim", but then I realized this app is an userspace app so to say, part of the Verizon bloatware and doesn't mean the phone. I know specially since with that phone I also got an S10+ from a friend, also from Verizon, which does see and use my sim right and which also has that same message from the same app. But works well.
Now, I don't really have the option to return this phone, since it was shipped outside the US, and shipping back would cost me half as much as what the phone cost. So I'm on my own.
At least I'm resourceful, but not that knowledgeable so that's why I come here for help.
The phone diagnostics, for the network, says in a status line "Radio off". and no info on the network. and if I try to manually select a network on connection settings, I immediately get an error. This happens wether I'm using my local sim, the old deactivated Verizon sim from my friend, and no sim... since the phone should be abe by law to make emergency calls, and it should be able to see visible networks even if not to join them, it's my guess that rather than locked, it has the radio turned off, which in some web pages says can sometimes happen "for various reasons".
My problem is, as far as I know, I have no way to turn the radio off and on again to see if that boots it up. Since this VZW Pie from has no service codes available via dialer. Not even the most basic *#06# service menu.
I see there's supposedly a way to flash the firmware back to Nougat, and root that from, on This thread. I'm guessing if I can make that work (I hope it works) I can access the service menus somehow, with it being an older rom, and having root I can probably use "Phone INFO" to get to them and try to reset the radio.
But before I do all that, and since my firmware downloads, to update to a new firmware via odin (given the warning on the root page to not use a v8 bootloader that was updated from v7 to v8 via OTA but rather something with v8 flashed directly via Odin, to avoid a possible brick). and to install the rooteable nougat will take me days to download at my speeds, I take this time to ask for help on wether there's ANY way to check and flip the radio without having to go to Nougat and root (I think I can even be happy without root on Pie for a short while.)
Ok, I'm starting to think the power connector board got damaged or the connector partially disconnected during the shipping or something.
I've installed first a N950U1 xaa rom, to make sure the v8 was installed via odin and not OTA. Then loaded a combination from and rooted as per the root post shared in the first message. This one can use service codes with the factory time (I've not installed a normal rooted nougat rom yet, as I want to do tests beforehand and try to make the radio work).
Inside *#0011# My IMEI shows as passing, but I get an ASM MIPI DEVICE FAIL:
ASM MIPI DEVICE FAIL
DEVICE MOD=0x217 , PID=0x081
Non-Fatal MIPI DEVICE FAIL
DEVICE MOD=0x217 , PID=0x081
ASDiv : NOT SUPPORTED

I tried running the Samsung Mipi Repair Tool, it detects the info, I hit repair, says it's repaired and that it'll open a menu, which does NOT open. Yet, if I open a menu with *#27663368378# and then rebuild NV with: 2. Ue Setting Info-->1.Setting-->2.System-->3.nv rebuid-->3.all, and then turn the phone off (Factory doesn't seem to have reboot) and on, still the same MIPI issue.
So I'm guessing either the board around the charge port got damaged somehow during the trip (my friend tested the phone before shipping it to me from the US), or the connector for it got loose. Anyway, I'm worried I'll have to open the phone myself (I haven't found a trustworthy tech in here. Last time I took a phone to a "recommended" tech, they stole the OEM screen from my dad's J8. So, no more techs for me unless I can find one I can befriend, and trust). If the connector to the board is not lose (I'll reseat it) I'll have to look for a new board, either abroad or here, probably not oem and with a lousier usb-c port, and swap the boards... sigh.
Anyhow since this will take time, if anyone knows of any other program or procedure I can use to test things, please let me know. I will keep the factory rom on the phone, either as the sole one or in a rom slot in safestrap, so that I can keep doing tests.
I appreciate any hints or help anybody could provide.
I apologize if this has been addressed elsewhere already, but I've been hopping all around the forums the last few days without any luck of finding something that addresses my particular situation (and I apologize if this' the wrong place for this too)...
Phone info:
Unlocked Samsung Galaxy Note 9, 512gb, bought off Amazon.
Model # is SM-N960U
Android 8.1.0
Verizon Branded
It came with a Verizon SIM card, but I already have a Sprint SIM card.
My situation: I have a Sprint branded Samsung Galaxy Note 9, it got damaged, but I didn't want to upgrade to a newer model (for reasons not relevant to this) and for $200 more than the repair costs, I was able to buy the same phone, but the 512gb version...
...So I did.
However, after activating it, which means putting my Sprint SIM card in it, and following all the steps with Sprint, I could receive calls and text-only SMS messages, but I could not get my mobile data to work on the phone and decided to blame the fact that it is Verizon branded* for this
*Sprint Customer Service kept saying I need to reset the PRL, among other things, like I would on a Sprint branded Note 9, but you can't do any of that on one that's Verizon branded; the options/menu in the settings is different
...So, this led me to downloading:
Odin3 v3.14
Sprint Branded Firmware from Updato: https://updato.com/download-samsung-galaxy-note9-firmware/spr/
...Specifically, I downloaded the one dated October 29, 2018 on Updato since it seemed like the closest to what was on the phone...
...I then turned on USB debugging through the Developer Options (could not find or gain access to the OEM Unlock option though, no matter what I tried, on my phone), rebooted my phone into Download Mode, but did not "proceed" as it were, plugged my phone into my laptop, Open Odin as an Administrator, put the firmware files (i.e., BL, AP, CP, and CSC) in their respective places...
...I picked the CSC, not the Home CSC, for the CSC spot in Odin, in case you were wondering...
...and finally pressed Vol Up to "Proceed," as it were, into Download Mode and clicked start on Odin, which did its thing...
...And, after a bit, I got a green "Pass" in Odin and my phone was now in Recovery Mode, since I left the "Auto Reboot" checked in Odin...
So, I selected "Reboot Now" and... I got the Verizon Splash screen and it was like nothing had happened to the phone... Except... My Sprint Mobile Data now works on the phone...
Now, I could technically live with this and begin transferring my data from my old Sprint branded Note 9 to this new Verizon branded one, now that the mobile data works, but there are WAY to many smaller annoyances with the new phone (like how one updates the PRL) that I was hoping to fix by rebranding it as a Sprint Note 9 via Odin
...So, any advice on what I should do?
Also, I'm not married to Oreo either, I just went with that because it is what the new phone has on it as my old phone is running Android 10 with One UI 2.5... And I figured I'd update the new phone to that, via OTA, once it was rebranded too...
Just clarify:
-Is "rebranding" possible with my Note 9?
-What can I do to make it happen or what have I done that I could do differently to make it happen?
