[Q] Cant' boot to flashmode X8 - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello all, my x8 i can't boot to flashmode anymore.. I'm using nAa ICS 2 kernel and MiniCM9 3.0.5 by nAa.. I want to flash to nAa-jb-3 and then update to MiniCm10 but can't boot my phone to flashmode.. It just doesn't respond while I'm holding the back button..install flashtool lastest version but same, tried removing and reinstalling usb drivers, rebooting pc several times but nothing helps.
Flash tool just says that the phone is connected but usb debugging is off.. But when i boot it back into normal state or in recevory mode, debugging is on, kernel and software is recognized and everything is working as it should..bootloader unlock.

Hot to connect the phone?
With " Press and hold back button then plug in the usb cable"?
Now I can flash it but it isn't reboot just say device disconnected, then device connected in flash mode, then device disconnected, then flashing aborted
nearly the same problem here trying to unlock the bootloader on my E15i.
Would appreciate if anyone has a suggestion how to overcome this. Thanks
Try this

What?! First of all - not volume down but BACK button.
In flashtool directory You will have drivers folder. Install those drivers. Then reboot Your PC. Copy Your firmware package into firmwares in flashtool directory (.ftf files). Than run flashtool, click on flash, choose the package, click ok, flashtool will aks You to connect Your phone in flash mode. Plug USB cable into PC. Plug in USB cable into phone and while doing this You must hold back button. And flashtool should recognize Your device and start flashing.

Thank you! You saved my phone's life!
I'm trying GingerDX now, and I making an ''XPERIA X8 MEGAPACK''
Anyway, I do not know why this is:
When I first installed gingerDX i have installed many apps. And when I'll removed this backup, and I installed this rom again, the phone freezes at the boot screen.
(I know how to do it. I flashed the stock rom from my backup, and It is working. But I cannot make a backup from this rom
Because You should do a full wipe When You install ROM again there are some files from old one. And this may cause boot problem
Hi, I've tried this but it doesn't work. My phone just keeps rebooting itself after SE logo animation is done. What can i do?

Boot prroblem ICS
I've tried ICS for stock kernel, but it isn't boot! But i want to try it!
Dude... just flash a stock SE rom via Flashtool and its done
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium
Generally speaking, bootloops imply you are missing the x15 Baseband required for custom ROMs to work: Follow the mediafire link in B.Jay's profile and find the x15 Baseband corresponding to your X8 version (It's in the sticker under the battery)... Hope this helps.
EDIT: Update your FlashTool Version!!!! http://androxyde.github.com/Flashtool/

X8 Can't boot to flashmode

Hi guys, i don't know what happened but since the last time i flashed kernel, i can't boot to flashmode anymore.. I'm using nAa ICS 2 kernel and MiniCM9 3.0.1 by nAa.. I want to flash to nAa-ics-3 and then update to 3.0.2 but can't boot my phone to flashmode.. It just doesn't respond while I'm holding the back button.. Tried installing the LATEST version of flashtool, tried removing and reinstalling usb drivers, rebooting pc several times but nothing helps.
Flash tool just says that the phone is connected but usb debugging is off.. But when i boot it back into normal state, debugging is on, kernel and software is recognized and everything is working as it should..
Had the same problem using the latest version of FlashTool!
I then tried v 0.6.9.1 and it worked flawlessly, so try this version!
Still nothing.. Here's the output from the FlashTool

I just can't figure it out.. :/
1 disconnect your device
2 in flashtool click on the flash icon -> flashmode -> select what you want to flash -> click ok
3 flashtool will say you to connect the phone while holding down the back key. do it
you need to connect the phone after flashtool says so, not before (according to the log, you connected the phone and then choosed file to flash)
Put on the stock rom (the one we get from the Sony) or backup u have of your stock rom.. then try to flash it..
You can get stock rom by using PC companion and update o repair or a ftf file from our own XDA...

Is your phone recognized by the PCC when you connect it?
Sent from my W8
Same thing happened with me the debugging was not detected when I first tried to unlock bootloader so I went back to the W8 stock rom and then it worked properly...
Try it only when there is no other way out...

Use SUES to revert back to stock rom/kernel and reflash from there. Also had this problem a few months back changing kernels.
With nAa and Alfs for cm7 kernels u dont have to hold back button it boots to flash mode automaticly when powered off and u plug the cable.
@sidhart The phone is recognized by PCC but as X10 not X8 xDDD So I'm afaid to revert to stock flash/kernel over PCC..
@Pipi14 I'm using nAa ICS kernel ( 02 ) for CM9, you think it might be the same?

Dont forget factory reset and wipe data cache..

Yeah i have used nAa kernel from the beginning and all his kernels automaticly boot in to flashmode when turned off and plugging the cable. I used MiniCm9 3.0.2 for two days reverted back to MiniCm7 2.2.0 cuz Its kinda slow for me still. But maybe next release of MiniCm9 will be my daily rom.
Hit thanx if i helped.

Dont worry, your phone is still alive. Probable reason why your phone is dead now is because you have a lock bootloader. (those custom kernels are for unlock bootloader only). Just download Flashtool and Xperia V Official FTF File then flash it. Please search general section for detailed instruction of recovering dead phone,
I have the same problem, i used the market app for flashing IMG files and guess what after flashing TWP.img for recovery the application prompted me to restart and that was it, phone is not powering on completely, no lights , nothing. when i connect to the computer it is recognized as Zeus device. Flashtool cannot detect it at all
Need serious help
you can flash back stock kernel via flashtool, just press volume up and plug in your usb and you will have a blue light indicating that your phone is connected in flash mode. then select your kernel and flash it.

blue light disappear meaning your phone have disconnect from your computer, do you install your fastboot driver? cause if have, usually the disconnection problem will go away..also pls take note, fastboot and flashmode is 2 different mode..fastboot for flashing kernel, and flashmode for flashing firmware using ftf file. if you cannot flash kernel, then you can flash back stock firmware using flashmode..

step 1 - you have to take out your battery leave it for few sec, then put back in, and don't turn on your phone,
step 2 - in its off state, press volume down and while still pressing the volume button, you plug in your usb cable, green light will grow meaning your phone connected in flashmode.
step 3 - select your stock ftf firmware then flash it, when the windows with guide comes on, don't do anything, just let it do its job..
usually the phone will disconnect at opening device r/w operation, and the phone will boot it self, don't close flashtool yet, follow step 1-3 again until flashing operating begin..

now i know why your phone always disconnect with your computer, the problem lie with either your usb port on computer, or the cable you use for connection, if your computer cannot identify your phone, then you will have the cannot identify message pop up, and your phone reboot itself..so you have to make sure your computer identify the phone and install the require driver, just then you can start flashing..i recon you try using other computer or original cable from sony..see if that help..

that because on win 8.1 there is a problem with the usb port where microsoft has changed their usb policies, the changes cause our phone unable to connect by fashboot, or flashmode, and that mostly referring to usb 2.0 port..you will not encounter this with win7 or win8, under xp you will need to install your s1 boot driver manually, so best for you to use a win7 or win8..
also, if your win 8.1 have a usb 3.0 port that uses intel, amd, nec, etc, chips, and is running driver provided by vendor, you can try using those usb 3.0 port, as long as you are not running microsoft driver..

sometime if run on low battery, the flashing will stop at that message (A device connected to the system is not in operation), you are lucky to get it flashing, cause sometime the bootloader will be corrupted if flashing stop suddenly..anyways, happy to get your phone working again have a fine day:victory:

can anybody come with this solution........?
as I said in the other thread, turn on usb debugging
if you cant do anything and powering on or connecting your phone to computer or charging it just makes the red led blink, it means its hard bricked. you may need to use test point
but if you dont have baseband and your device runs, try to flash a new modem(i dont know if its available for z1 or not)
and as i see you were trying to flash a much old ftf ... after 4.3 , flashing older than them will make the modem not work.so if you can get in to flash mode try to flash a newer frameware

Next time do not be so fast and lazy to read instructions provided by developer of the thing you have flashed. Being fast and thinking wrong and fast sometimes produce fatal thing to the your phone. I am sure you will be no lazy next time and I am sure you will be very careful in operations with your next phone
Whats happening when you press and hold for about 5 secconds power + volumeup button? If you see vibration than you are not in hard brick! If there is no vibration but your phone flashing red all time than its hard brick! If not hard brick you can enter into fastboot mode: disconnect usb cable, press and hold power+volume up until you see vibration, than hold volume up button and in same time connect usb cable. After than you must see blue led! If no blue led than probably try to replace usb drivers by installing sony pc companion, reboot computer after that! Allso make sure comuter device manager detect your phone propertly! After that try again all steps. If this not help and you have red light all time than probably your phone is dead! Hope this help.

[Q] Hard Brick or he die? :)

Hi everyone, i'm newbie here and, for first i'm so sorry formy bad english, but, anyway
My problem is serously hard, someone here having problem like me, for example - click.
Okey, so now my problem: Xperia C5303, i'm don't know which firmware was stay at this XPS until them became bricked, not my phone
Phone isn't boot, don't react to power\+ and - button, when i try to connect it to PC, the phone light up red when attempting to charge, remain solid red for 10 minutes before the LED switches off for around 5-7 minutes. The phone then use to go back to the red LED and the loop would continue. I take a multimeter, plug it at + and - to the batttery, when i connecting USB, RED light up, voltage going to ~3.20V, after RED light switches off and voltage going to ~2.8V and phone again charged to 3.2V and loop, loop, loop. If i disconnect USB cable with 2.9V-3.1V and press PWR button, RED light blinks 3 times, like them discharged. So, i can't put phone to Flashmode\Fastboot mod, for first i think, maybe not enough charging on battery for start flashmode\fastboot, BUT, I was wrong, i charge battery for 4-5Hrs without phone, just use AAA and AA charger laugh, voltage around 3.6V, connected to phone, connect USB and...nothing, just nothing, don't react to anyting, as I understand USB transmits a signal if battery is discharging And, when i connect charged battery and click pwr button, voltage started to fall as if the phone is switched on.
Soooo, in Flashtool, when i connected phone with pressed - button\+ button, PC determine phone like HID device!!!, wooow, how?
I install all drivers that i know, SEUS, PC Compasion, Flastool drivers, drivers from XDA worum for all Sony phones.
Flashtool log:
25/010/2014 15:10:11 - INFO - Device connected with USB debugging off

Remove battery and then connect USB with volume down button pressed.
My friend's Xperia E went into flash mode without battery, so there is a chance that SP will also get into flashmode without battery.
Or else try this if you had screwed your kernel:
Remove your phone's battery and put atleast 30-40% charged battery in it. Your can also charge your phone's battery by connecting it to another Xperia SP. Once you had 30-40% battery, try to boot your phone. It should get into bootloops, then you can connect it in flash mode.
I need to try 2nd method desperately but couldn't find an Xperia sp ...?

I can't check it out, but do stay tune as I will post it shortly.
You do not need to think about how was it detected by your computer. You just need to make sure it is connected to Flashtool. Either way, you must retry the method I have linked you to, or try the one in this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54634835&postcount=35
Does your phone able to connect to your computer by any means? I mean does Windows ever detect any presence of device (noticeably the usual "installing driver" balloon or the "hardware connect" sound)?

Hi again
I have two batteries, 1 was all time ucharged, beaucase phone can't charge them and 1 full charged. When i connect full battery phone do not respond to ANYTHING!
Connnecting USB - nothing, press PWR button - nothing. That is when the battery is charged to third-party way and connect to phone, usb stops responding. And when connecting USB to phone with fully charged battery begins to run and phone heated on multimetr voltage going from 3.72V to 3.69V and after 1-2H to 2.8V and phone going in this idiotic loops.
