[Q] Laggy in-call sound quality

Hi
Just wanted to know if others experience this too?
when making a phone call, my sound is lagging/blurry/scratching. Sometimes sound like (kind of) a robot.
I live in the city, and signal loss or network change is therefore not an issue.
Just thought it was wierd, but guess it will be fixed with update.

Exact same thing here. Sounds like a loose connection in the speaker. Same city as you, but on 3 instead of TDC. Nothing to do with network, it's either soft-or hardware error in the LG. Let's just hope it's soft

I sent the phone back as DOA because of this and few other problems.

Thanks for heads up. Looks like it's software error fortunately, so Im more calm now

"Problem solved with the new baseband I think. Haven't noticed any tinny sound effect when in phone - either 2G or 3G connectivity.
It's a shockingly large improvement. Really bad that LG sells the phone with that software because mine was almost unusable in crowds because you had no idea what the other person was saying. Will be keen to jump to newer basebands now if they become available since it's proven it does make a huge difference. At least it's not a reason to NOT buy this phone anymore since it's easily fixable thanks to Paul now "

Hehe, funny to be quoted here, from a thread I started over at MoDaCo. According to my poll there a lot of 2X users experience bad sound.
Like I wrote at MoDaCo - I haven't noticed any weird sound after the baseband flash, so please upgrade and tell me if you also notice an improvement. I'll update the thread accordingly.
Btw, what baseband are you currently on?

Hehe. Im just having trouble remembering which i wrote in and which i read in :-D
But...
I Updated baseband now = no difference.., still scratchy sound...
Flashed pauls custom rom = still scratchy sound...
Seems in some cases it might ne hardware related :-(
Perhaps im unlucky.
The volume is okay/high enough. I just got scratching.... similar to white noise

If this is truly a hardware issue, don't delay- send it back. Furthermore, be mindful of the replacement you receive. Here is an example of an "ugly" situation that happened between two owners. Be firm & inspect your replacement thoroughly- if it's not in "like-new" condition or has residual data from a previous owner, argue for a brand new 2X.

I think we got quite good policies in Denmark, so I'll probably just get a new one at first But thanks for the advice. Hopefully the next will show up better.
A friend of mine experienced pixel "errors" on his AND his girlfriends, so the next one better be fully functional... I know that TDC provider in Denmark wanted to postpone the release too, because of malfunctioning devices. This was before they ever sold any, and they haven't got them in stock yet

Now I just have to wait for "three" to send it in, and return a new one... if it happens three times, I'll get my mony back, and perhaps go for the SGS2 and hope it gets Tegra2... a shame, such a nice phone otherwise. Hope they make it work, but I hear a lot of complaints *fingers crossed*

I'm not experiencing any scratchy sounds like you, not even before I upgraded baseband. So I guess it's not all O2X in Denmark that has the problem.

The problem has been there all the time for me. Just saying the update didn't work for me, so I guess it is hardware related in my case. There has just been some discussions about wether it is hardware or software related.
The problem doesn't occure on all devices, but some are unlucky. 2 of my friends, which bought it on the release date, as my self, has experienced the same problem.
Also, on mobildebat.dk (danish forum) people complain about having the same problem. Such a shame.
I turned in my phone now, and has to wait for up to 10 days for LG to come up with a solution now Hope it goes faster. If i went down to the store last wednesday, I would hav gotten a new phone right away, due to 14 days return policy. Now I have to use my Nokia N82, damn it's slow

I have had the same problems on my week old phone. Scrathy sound, Buzzing sound that both ends can hear and the other end sounding "tinny" or like a robot.
I also had random reboots.
Sent it in to repairs monday, hopefully it won't come back with "no faults found".
MY local Telia shop, where I bought the phone, hadn't heard about the problem from more than 1-2 people. Danish LG customerservice also hadn't heard about it. (This was a week ago.)
BTW: Is it normal for camera area to get very hot during calls? I had that too. Battery time was ok. 1-1½ day of normal use. Heavy wifi/talk/gps = less than a day.

Microphone not activated for 1-2 seconds after answering a call?

Has anyone experienced this problem on the RAZR i (but possibly not realised it or thought it was just occasional) with regards to people phoning you, you saying hello and them clearly not hearing you as they don't respond. Only when you say 'hello' again is it quite clear they didn't hear anything at first as they don't act surprised or confused.
It must be 1-2 seconds or so at most, but it's quite annoying and seems to be happening every time I answer. This makes me suspect it's the phone, not the network (Orange/EE if anyone cares).
I thought it might just be the person at the other end not listening, but I've since asked people who didn't respond if they heard my first hello and they say no - so it's as if the mic isn't activated straight away.
Before I report it as a bug to Motorola, I really want to know if anyone else has suffered the same problem?

I have exactly the same problem, but on my 2 years old Desire, and I've only had it since I installed the latest version of a custom ROM, so there is a very big possibility, that it's just a software bug. But I agree, it gets annoying as hell, so it would be great for as many people with this problem to let Motorola know about it, so they fix it as soon as possible.
Can't wait to get my hands on this beauty, by the way!

I checked mine out as not noticed a problem. Turns out to be fine. Hope you sort the issue.

Hi All,
Since yesterday I get no audio in calls through the phone, but if I use the speaker phone I can hear fine.
Also when playing media out of the loudspeaker I get no sound (Very strange)
Doesn't seem to be a hardware problem as loudspeaker works in some instances.
It wasn't working on the original firmware and now I've upgraded to 195 and it still doesn't work.
Any ideas or do I need to send it for RMA?

Sounds like a hardware failure if it doesnt work on two seperate roms.
Take it back to the shop.

I had this problem with MIUI rom and Advanced Stock Kernel V4. Reboot fixed it initially but it kept reverting to the problem again at some point.
I'm now back to a relocked BL and unrooted and it's working fine. The ROMS on here are too new as is the general development of the phone so I'm staying with stock for the time being as I wan't a flawless phone in the short term.

I had this on stock firmware with locked bootloader reboot fixed the problem could be something wrong with the new firmware.

I sent mine back overseas to Clove, where they've shipped it off to Sony. I hope I see it again inside this month, but I have no idea where it is ATM. I flashed stock and used the ftf to relock, and had no audio at all. This was after having numerous problems with audio on custom ROMs.

There was problems with the audio playing from speakers/headphones on cm based ROMs. This has now been fixed. Reading the threads is a marvellous thing.

Sorry to resurrect this thread for this, but I thought it was worth posting. My phone got all the way to Sony where they couldn't get it working and are replacing it with a new unit. Seems I wasn't as crazy as I thought I was. Anyway, I can't wait to get it back... it's really a nice phone.
Oh, and FWIW, this experience with Clove leaves me with zero hesitation about using them in the future... they've been great to work with.

The sound goes off and became very quiet for some reason. To get it back i need to hit the speaker's area and it becomes fine again but for some short time only. I think it is a common problem and many people did have this problem. I tried to flash different fimwares etc, no luck. Please anybody help.. Regards

I was quite tempted to use LMGTFY but won't work at work lol.. So yeah, here's the answer: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351278
If that doesn't work, some users reported that pushing on the speaker (after taking the back off) fixed their problem.

Widespread problem bud. I have 2 captivates and both suffer from this. I tried fixing the one and made it way worse. Thinking about sending them both out for repair. Still a great phone!

Help needed

My device needs immediate help...tried all the googling....
Tried nvflashing, smart flashing (KDZ from win8 is such a big mess and could not do it), changing of BB (from V20 to V30 A/B), factory reset...almost everything...
When I call someone, I cant hear them and neither the person called....call is on and it is charged. No sound from the device. So, I flashed the stock ROM and checked through the hidden menu and absolutely no ring during the ring test....
once or twice, when I did the factory reset, I had the sound working and the call working....but now I have done the progmaq NVflash and then changed to new bootloader, rooted, partitioned all that....but now I have no sounds, neither call is made from the phone.....the call is not heard through the ear piece....caller gets it but I cant hear it
Tried all the CM ROMs, Stock ROMs from Civato, Jishnu, sgspluss, Topo, including the nvflashing of stock by Stefan.....absolutely no result.
has anyone any clue about this? Please suggest any ideas.

Sad... i always find Opti-3D GB by Homero the best for the complete repartition. Also done through NvFlash. Do some searching around and you will find a working download link (mediafire). On phone now, but if you cant find it, just let me know.
First time I read about such issue, hoping it isn't defect hardware. Will do some searching around for you to see other solutions when I get on PC if this won't help.

Have used progmaq, then according to your recommendations used the Homero's clean ROM.....but no sound.....
Looks like a hardware issue....have everything else working perfectly but calls cant be handled, no sound on speaker, no sound from the other side or from my side to the other....
Dont know what to do now.....a long weekend due to festivals....so have to keep trying something....win8 does not allow the LG KDZ update server by spyrosk....
when tough times come.....they are really tough....:crying:

Don't use that option. Flash KDZ this way: Extract it using spyrosk tool, then flash it with Smartflash. I could never get the other way to work either, so do it with Smartflash after extracing the KDZ

I hope you can solve this problem. We dont want to loose you... But it sounds like a Hardware issue. Maybe you could try it with an win 7 pc?

Well, I have another o2x lying around, but it's broken, but still I would guess that the sound should work just fine. This one are hardware bricked so it can only be used as spare part device. Let me know buddy

Bhai, try there, if not possible when you come down to bangalore we will get it sorted. If its a hardware issue and its its around Rs500 or so, we can proceed, but beyond that frankly speaking its of no use.

Can you play some sound or select a sound for phone call or notify?
If no sound is played the thing is bad.

Sometimes I can and sometimes not....the dialer always comes up when I receive a call but when this issue crops up....I can't hear the other side neither the other side can hear me...I can select the ringtone, change it but no sound....
Presently I am not facing any issues but this on off thing is driving me crazy as some calls are missed....Have switched on the vibe....
Well, need to wait and see....check with the centre for repair....if it is expensive....then this device will be used as a spare cause I can't use without connectivity.....my boss will kill me....lol
