Version upgrade - Galaxy S III I9305 (4G LTE + 2GB RAM) Q&A, Help &

When I tried to upgrade my phone's software version it shows "Insufficient disk's space (requires at least 3000MB)". Then, upgrade process halted. Why 3GB is required? Where this space is required? Anybody faced such problem?

My Internal sdcard has 10GB free space. Why this message is showing?

are you upgrading through Kies?
if yes, then 3GB of space is needed in your PC/laptop or whichever device you are running Kies on.
if you are upgrading through mobile device itself, then I am not sure

Yes, I'm trying to upgrade through Kies. Thanks a lot.. I'll try again

See my answer I gave you in the Phandroid forum.

Singapore - SingTel Users.

hey there. was just wondering if anyone out there has the singtel rom that comes with the set in default. the one with singtel's own startup and shutdown animations.
long story short, I've accidentally reformat my sd cards and in turn lost the backup rom. if anyone out there who has it can so kindly upload it somewhere so I can download it, that'll be awesome! (incase I need to visit singtel for a replacement set)
also, any idea where to get the MobileTV application?
thanks in advance!
or, can I just flash an asian firmware(what build do we use anyway?) and use someone's singtel's update.zip file? quite new to this do yea
thanks! I've googled all this but to no avail sadly.
I'm a Optus user (Au Singtel) and it was not posible to backup our stock roms. But Optus did release a update to DTJG4 just recently so we now have a rom to default back to incase we need repairs, Maybe Singtel will release one for singaore VERY soon
Singtel just released JG4 today.
ah, but any jg roms will boot me to the singtel one with their own bootup screen or...? thanks.
it hsd been mentioned before
1) Make sure you've your data (files, sms, contacts, etc.) properly backed up.
2) Press *#272*HHMM# (HHMM refers to the time on your device in 24hrs format when you entered this code).
3) Select XSP and click on the "Install" button.
4) Your phone will reboot & do a wipe on itself.
5) Enjoy your Galaxy S without SingTel's customizations.
the singtel one is i9000dxjg4?
the firmware seem zippy enough

[Q] Galaxy Tab Memory Problem

I've got a problem with my Galaxy tab. The problems are:
1. Whenever the device is turned off all the files are deleted - like a factory reset.
2. The language always reverts back to Chinese or something like that when turned off and on - I always need to change it back to English.
2. Recorded videos show unsupported file format when attempting to playback.
3. Doesn't charge using the wall charger when it is on but when it is off it's ok.
I've tried some TS like:
1. Factory Reset / Wipe Cache and anything I could see at Recovery.
2. Reflash Gingerbread
3. Tried downgrade to 2.2 - I haven't succeeded yet since I need some files to DL.
If anyone has an idea on how to solve it or encountered the problem pls share some thought.
The main problem I'm really frustrated is regarding the memory problem whereas I can't save any files nor store anything on the 16GB internal memory.
BTW, I'm running on 2.3.3 GB
BB: P1000DXJPD
Thank You.
this is wired ... can u tell us what is your Tab old firmware ?
and did you tried to back into froyo and back again to flash the gingerbread ?

I can't really say what's the old firmware since my mom just gave it to me.
I'll be trying to flash it back to froyo later though I'm still trying to figure out what Firmware I should download since the last time I tried it, the tab only goes to a constant boot loop.
I can't really figure out what's the problem with this tab. It seems like it's using deepfreeze (PC App) Since, the prior files saved are still present even after turning it off. I even tried deleting those files but to no avail after reboot it returns.
So, I'll try flashing froyo and let's see.
Thanks.
what is your tab ? GSM , CDMA ?

It's GSM, I've managed to flashed 2.2 now and the charging issue seems to be solved, could charge it now using the wall charger and via usb.
But the memory problem is still the same.
Let me expand on it a little more.
The internal memory which is 12.82 GB (12.80 Avail) and Internal Device Storage (1.85 GB) seems to be detected by the TAB, the problem is whenever I save a file or anything on it after reboot it's gone but some files (Pics) even though I delete it after reboot it comes back. It seems like the memory is froze or something.
Thanks.

Yes I've used a PIT file. I've successfully flashed it now with the ROM on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=939360.
Still the same so it seems like this is most probably a hardware problem.
I've noticed that when I connect the Tab to my pc as a media storage, I could see the files on the internal memory. I've tried deleting it manually and quick format it. But after disconnecting it the same files returns.
I'm now trying to format it the long way, not the quick format.
I have the EXACT same problem with my Galaxy Tab 7 inch Sprint. My internal memory boots up as read only and resets itself every time I boot the device.
I've been looking for days to figure out what I can do solve this but it really doens't seem promising.
I was able to make the internal memory read writable through adb shell with:
mount -o remount, rw /
The problem is, when I reboot. All the changes are gone. If anybody has a clue please post here or PM me. Thanks!

Can't update firmware due to disk space error. Please help

Hi,
I have been getting OTA firmware update notifications daily for the last month. Every time I try to update, my Note tells me something along the lines of "update failed pls use kies". I have been trying to do this update through Lies, but each time I am getting an error message saying that I don't have enough disk space. It says the update will require 3GB. I have freed up approx 4GB on my phone memory.
Can someone help me solve this? I also have a 16GB SD card installed.
Much appreciated

Requires 3gb of disk space in PC, not in the phone.

This problem still persists. And I can't to OTA as it only moves to about 10% of download status and phone resumes start up.

Most often than not, OTA never works in updating (especially if the firmware is more than 100-200MB).
Surefire way of updating your firmware would be to install PC Kies (to your PC/laptop), and update your phone from there.

its an windows error i.e CODE 31 ,
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc725584(v=ws.10).aspx
try uninstalling and reinstalling driver.
HERE DOWNLOAD THIS ONE
:good: and try again . if you had formatted partitions you should also flash the PIT file for your device according to your internal space.

Yeah i know that code 31 is an windows error, and i already tried to install and uninstal Samsung USB drivers so many times that i just got frustrated, i even have tried this pack of drivers that you sent me the link and many other versions.
Just wondering, is there a way to do it through Adb sideload?
Thanks DaksAnkit for you time and attention!
here these links might help .

Cheers for the answer! i allready solved the problem, but i will save those links, maybe it would help someday.
Here's how i solved: i went back to the stock room with Odin, than upgradade until Jelly Bean and rooted the device, wiped cache and davlik and then installed JB again, this solved the problem for me.
One curiosity is that i was having a problem with odin and found out that many other users of windows 7 64bits were having the same problem with odin not recongnizing the phone.
I don't know why but windows 7 64 bits have a conflict with some drivers, but if you use a 32bits version, or windows 10 it works fine.
Thanks again DaksAnkit

I tried unlocked Odin i tried to flash twrp its oem unlocked usb debugging enabled also i dont know what to do with this phone
Sounds like a flash issue. If it was stock I would simple say factory reset it.
My knowledge of flashing these devices isn't good at all though, sorry.
Hopefully someone with knowledge of this type of issue will be able to help you

WhatsApp media can take an incredible amount of space, and it's forced to internal storage. Give it a try. Something else you can use is X-Plore with the Disk Map functionality, it will give you a Pie Chart with the biggest space consumers.
