Lockscreen Pulldown Notifications? - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
I'm looking at buying an Xperia Z but i've got a quick question about the lockscreen. On the model i tried in the shop you couldn't pull down the notification shade on the lockscreen (this was with swipe to unlocked enabled, no extra password or pattern) To anyone with a Z, is there a setting that turns this on, or perhaps the shop model was on earlier firmware? I really like being able to access my notifications without unlocking the phone and i thought they made this standard since Jelly Bean.
Thanks

Yes you can

Thanks mate, shop model must have been an earlier build.

I noticed, that this behaviour is happening when your phone is without SIM card.

[Q] How to disable DLS?

Is there a way to disable DLS on .257? I hate they removed an option to disable it from regular display settings. I don't want darker images to appear even darker on my display. I hated DLS on Xperia T I had, and I definitely hate it even more now.

I am reflashing back to the original .534 firmware just to uncheck that stupid box and then upgrade to see if it stays un checked.
If it isnt, then ill flash back and use the old firmware until they fix it.
That won't solve this crap. Don't bother.

damn it, jus tried flashing the .534 and .531 for some reason i could turn that **** off, but after a few reboots the thing just stayed blank after passing the Sony screen. gonna just updated to current and return this ****.
THe xperia Z was old but still better, at least i could disable it.
This **** is nice, feels nice, almost everything works. I just need this option disabled and a proper panoramic.

Is there a way to turn off auto contrast?

I cant seem to find the option in the new firmware and no one has any input

Settings, Display, Brightness
UN tick Adapt to lighting conditions.
Is that what you wanted?
There was another setting before the 257 update that let you uncheck an option that said something like 'automatic change screen condition to save battery"
I'll just have to reflash the old version to do a screen shot for you guys.

I've posted similar question earlier, but no answer so far. It was called "Optimised backlight" and it was positioned right below "Pulse notification light". It is basically DLS (Dynamic Luminance Scaling) and it is the most annoying power-saving feature in the known universe and I absolutely hate it. It should be a way to disable it with root explorer, but I can't find it in the folder where it was on my Xperia T.

I think I read somewhere that Sony removed it due to it bugging out with some apps.
They should remove it then, not leave us without possibility to turn this crap off.

Yeah. I would think if it doesn't work when on, then they should have disable it and left it off by default.
All other Android phone worked without trying to change this crap.
I love this phone but it's annoying me a lot when reading text that has dark background and graphics.

4G instead of LTE??

My xperia Z used to display LTE on the status bar with the journalists ROM (4.3). Recently i flashed it with the generic UK 4.3 rom and now it says 4G. Is this normal with this rom? Is there a way to change it?
I think that just depends on the region your ROM is from. I think some marketing regions use 4G and others use LTE. It's normal, won't affect anything.
You could probably go in there and change it to whatever you wanted if you rooted your device.
Yeah it's just a flag set in one of the apk's in /system/etc/customisation/overlay/

Van we change it?

Yeah, you just need to be rooted.

Hi,
can you be more precise ? There is a /system/etc/customization but no overlay subfolder (only settings and content)...
Thanks by advance.

The 4G icon is caused by the overlay file /system/vendor/overlay/SemcPhone-Overlay-XXX.apk. If you delete that file, you will get the default LTE icon. However, it's only an icon, it has no effect whatsoever on the connectivity or performance of your phone. I'd recommend to just leave it like it is, to prevent problems with OTA updates.

Yes, that's the one, was just getting to reply but you saved me the trouble, thanks.
Thanks to you both
I have found that it is actually /system/vendor/overlay/SystemUI-Overlay-285.apk that is causing the icon switch. It is the only overlay I keep in my rom for that reason. ?

[Q] Z1 notification LED brightness

Hello everyone!
I registered here years ago, but forgot my password and login lol, so i made a new account, anyways, ive recently bought a xperia z1, unlocked the bootloader, rooted with custom firmware and kernal (i know the basics etc).
Anyways, my question is i previously owned an xperia S and there was a mod where you can increase the notification led brightness, ive looked through the system files of my Z1 and i cant seem to find the required file (obviously theres alot of changes, im not a noob.)
Is there anyway to increase the brightness of it?
+1,i want to know that too.

You definitely can reduce the intensity using Lightflow...

Yes but that will mean running an app in the background?
Thats why i didnt mention that.
What im looking for is how to increase the intensity, same as the mod on xperia s, having more brighter notification led without an app...
The only reason why im stuck at this is because i see similar folders but different files in the folder location.

[Q] Sound Bug After KitKat Update

Hello, i recently updated my Sony Xperia Z1 Model No: C6902 with the latest kitkat update but after the update their is disturbances heard in the message notification tone....what shall i do? is there a problem with the update itself?
Maybe, to early to say if it is a bug, some users have to report it as well too. Try Factory Reset first, it will wipe your data but it will clean up after update.

Do you have any mods installed that may have restored with titanium when you reinstalled the rom?
Could be that something is not playing nice with the new base.
Attempt a clean install with no restores and test the audio, then restore and if it comes back after the restore you'll know if it's a rogue app / mod or not.

I as well am having the same issue. The notification "skips" if you will at the beginning first 1-2 seconds of any notification. I have not noticed if this issue is present in a phone ring yet, only in notifications.
So, no solution yet?... I have same issue... And this notification ringtone is annoyed...

Shahzaib.khan I don't believe your referencing the same bug we are discussing. If I'm not mistaken your discussing the sound through the internal earpiece instead of the loudspeaker. We are referring to a notification tone which skips when being played during an actual notification

Vlcano yeah i guess. Thats why i am following another thread. Thank you

Same annoying problem here. Stuttering notification sound and sometimes the ringtone gets really low (10%).
Only a reboot fixes the problem. But after after a few hours it's back again :crying:
Guys i guess i was right at the first place
I comeback to 4.4 from the start
I flashed xperia ultra firmware which is modified by nut then i put 156 of xperia z1 then i root it and flash recovery on it and then formated every thing except external card, i formated internal memory also. And yes till now received 5 calls there is no problem...
Try it every one
Sent from my C6903 using xda app-developers app
Sorry guys the above method also didnt work. In short kitkat from sony sucks. Sony developers need to learn something from the xda developers.
Sent from my C6903 using xda app-developers app
So we just wait the next fixed firmware from Sony?
Sent from my C6903 using xda app-developers app
Hi,
Is this problem solved now for you after the update to .757?
It hasn't for me. I still get the annoying broken/disturbed notification tone many times even after a clean install of the FW .757.
I am on stock ROM, non rooted. I really do want to know which app is playing rogue, if it is an app. I thought after the few updates to the walkman app, it may solve the issue, but it didn't.
