Hey all,
I have noob question , I did search, but I'm probably searching wrong cause I can't find the answer.
My xperia Z phone came in today. This is not my first android phone, nor the first time I'm using custom roms, but it is the first time the phone isn't supported by CWM.
I've unlocked the bootloader and rooted, but before I try fiddling with any custom rom, I'd like to make a proper backup of the stock rom.
I've tried using other tools from google play (orange backup for example). But everything I try stops when the app tells me the phone is not supported.
How should I proceed? How to make a nandroid backup (or similar) in this case?
Thanks in advance!
*polite bump*

Hello guys, im planning to root and flash my wildfire device for the first time, i already studied and review all related things on hot thing done in wildfire..
now, the only question and seems not posted here..
As i bought my wildfire the stock ROM version is "1.25.707.1 cl227575 release-keys", where can i download this ROM so that incase i got a problems with different custom roms i can revert it back to my original rom version, i cant seems to find it in SHIPPED-ROMs website..
and if there no such thing as that version in the net, is it possible to backup my original ROM?.. (i guess not because i need first the custom loader to have the backup features which will wipe first my original rom before i can backup)..
Thanks!..
as far as i am aware you can use unrevoked to root your phone. this will also install clockworkmod which replaces stock HTC recovery tool. within clockword mod you can make a backup of your current ROM and all apps and settings etc. you dont need a custom ROM to backup your existing ROM. just need your phone to be rooted. which is pretty much a one click process once you have got the windows drivers installed.
not sure about posting external links on forum but google unrevoked and see this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7895908&postcount=127
good luck
HI,
I am asking myself the following question:
Is a full (=complete) Backup even possible? Basically, i.e. technically, it should be possible, since all the data is there and just needs to be backed up.
So much for the theory.
My question in detail goes like this: Is it possible to make a full backup from say JB 4.1.2, unlock the bootloader, install custom-ROMs, play sometime with it, see what one likes, and then re-stock the phone to retail 4.1.2, restore the backup and use the phone like it was before messing around with it?
I did install a custom ROM but want to try a few others. But the stupid thing with restoring the apps from google play by installing every single one, alining them as before in folders and stuff takes up way too much time to just mess around like that....
Thanks for hints and tipps!
If there is no problems with restoring backup (like on few Motorola devices caused size of partitions) just use CWM or TWRP to backup Your ROM and when You'll be bored with customs restore full rom with data using CWM as well.
Try making a backup with CWM or TWRP, then flash whatever you like and recover your app data and stuff from your CWM backup with Nandroid Manager on Play Store. There are others apps that do the same also (Titaniumbackup, etc). Get the donation version if you want to restore sms, phone calls, etc.
Correct me if I'm wrong but once you unlock the bootloader there is no way back to a locked bootloader!
So once you do so your warranty is void.
Also when you unlock your bootloader your entire phone gets wiped, so every data is gone.
My suggestion:
Install twerkmymoto, you phone won't get wiped, you then can make backups and play around with your phone without unlocking your bootloader.
You can easily change a lot of settings with xposed so you have the stable stock rom with the UI features of a custom rom.
FTF backup of a "modified official rom"?
Hello everyone!!
I know it’s not the subject, but this being my first time posting here let me start by thanking all of the developers and collaborators for the great works in this community! I have already benefited from a few tutorials and files disposed here, so thanks for everything so far! :good:
Back to the subject now =)
Although I am using an official rom in my Xperia SP I made several modifications to it and I couldn’t find a similar thread involving a “modified official rom”, I only read threads describing how to make a simple FTF backup of an “untouched official rom” through SEUS, which I presume that won’t work in my case. So I hope the more experienced people can give me some directions!
My device is currently rooted and the bootloader is also unlocked through the official Sony method. I substituted the original kernel for the Inteks so that I could use cpu overclocks, removed all the bloatware and integrated some updates and a few new apps in the system through link2sd.
Now I’d like to make a backup of this modified rom before I flash new roms to the device. For what I understood so far, the recovery nandroid backup system will save everything, including installed apps and configurations, right? I’d like to make just a simple rom backup.
I’m afraid that this nandroid “full backup” could decrease the performance after restoration. If I perform a factory reset prior to the nandroid backup, could it minimize the chances of having problems after restoration?
I’m asking this in case there is no manner to create a .ftf file… And, what you guys think about both types of backup, am I getting the wrong impression about nandroid or .ftf files are really better and/or safer??
The current recovery installed in my Neo is “CWM-based Recovery v6.xxx
Should I update it? And if it’s the case, how should I do it??
Is my device really incompatible with Rom Manager, or that message I got was because of the old recovery version installed in my Neo??
(I read about this kind of incompatibility with some devices, just wanna check if it’s the case with my phone and if there is a new recovery for Xperia Neo that is compatible with Rom Manager)
Sorry about the long text and so many questions in a single post, but I really want to understand more about this stuff, all the changes in my phone were done separately during more than a year, so I am not much used to these procedures.
I would appreciate any help! Thanks for the attention!!

I always use nandroid backup's if I'm in a bootloop, and they always helped me and I never had problems with them. An .ftf file is quite awkward to make and if you only want to have a backup I definetely recommend nandroid backup's. If you only want to backup your data (apps you downloaded, and their data) I prefer and recommend Titanium Backup. I advise against from using a .ftf file as a backup. Nandroid backup's are safe and you don't need to worry
If you only need your backup you don't need to update your CWM recovery
Hi guys!
I feel the urge to try a custom ROM. I´m used to fiddle with these things on Samsung but I feel a little nervous doing it on my Xperia.
Here´s the deal: I have *230 stock firmware ODEXED with a CWM recovery. It also has the bootloader unlocked.
If I make a full backup from recovery, can I really just restore it on the Xperia if I´m not happy with the ROM I´m about to flash? The reason I´m asking is that I have to flash another kernel with the new ROM. Is it really possible to just restore everything that easy afterwards?
Thanx!

Download file, then unzip. Run BAT file and follow screen directions. You will end up with three recoveries to choose from.
Need help
Hello, i'm newbie here, trying to learn some stuff, i searched the forum but i couldn't find it, i think this page is most appropriate to post it here.
Well i want to flash a custom rom, but my first attempt went not good for me. I've lost my imei and panicked, anyway by flashing stock sony rom i recovered it.
Now i unlocked my bootloader again (it was locked again after i flashed my stock firmware back), rooted my phone, and learned that nandroid app can make a full backup, and even i screw things up (except hard bricking i guess), that backup will save me. So i downloaded it made a full back up, but it says "back up type: clockwork or TWRP,"
And i heard that TWRP is not for Xperia Z1. Thats why i decided to not install it,
Then i installed clockwork rom manager, it said "this app requires clocwork recovery", but i couldnt find a appropriate version of clockwork recovery, the ones i found on play store were for android 4.0.4, and mine is 4.4.4
You guys probably understand that i know almost nothing about this stuff, (i have only got what i read form forums), so what should i do, which version of clockwork should i install or is there any other supported apps that i can use my nandroid backup?
Soka, i checked your link but couldnt be sure about which link should i click.
And another question, do i still need titanium backup while i have nandroid?
Thanks in advance
My device is C6903
4.4.4
14.4.A.0.157
CWM Recovery
There two methods:
1. Unlock your bootloader and flash a custom kernel (Bootloader Unlock is required for flashing custom roms which are not stock based; for example cyanogenmod)
-> with a custom kernel you have cwm and often twrp also.
2. check this out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z1/development/newroot-z1-t2807092
maybe you have to flash .108 kernel to use newroot, after rooting you can flash the actually kernel from your firmware....

Hi there bro...
In the Link ...
Check this out ...
http://prntscr.com/4ow7hp ... download the one the red arrow is pointing at. Unzip and run BAT file. When Prompted onscreen connect device to PC.
This will install recoveries and an app called NDR Utils. With this app you can choose the primary recovery of your choice.
I prefer using Philz...(CWM) based. Important rule i've always followed make backups ( Nandroid).
