Hey all, I installed JB a few days a go (LQ4, rooted) and it has all worked just fine until now since I can't seem to download or send MMS messages. I've tried just about everything, including changing the auto-download, using WCDMA only and so on. The APN is correct.
The weird thing is that when i try to download a MMS the cell reception just completely dies sometimes and shows me that "not available"-sign before "rebooting" or whatever and giving me back the signal. This makes me think that this problem lies deeper than a few settings in the phone, but is there anything i can try before i restore it back to gingerbread?

Have you done factory reset in recovery after flashing JB with Odin?

No, worth trying? I figured since the LQ4, as far as I know is straight from samsung it should work fine as an update without a reset.. What will I lose from the reset?

You will lose apps installed, its data, your data (not from internal memory) like phonebook etc... But you can backup apps with Titanium Backup, and other stuff too.

I had this happen once also. I flashed several different ROMs and even went back to stock twice. It would refuse to download MMS at all no matter what I did. It saw the messages but wouldnt download them. SMS still worked fine.
And then it just started working again. I attributed it to some glitch within ATT.
However, I never tried wiping the caches as suggested above. I would try that for sure. If it doesnt work, try calling ATT? My phone was a work number and customer service wouldnt talk to me about it without the password which I didnt have.
Report back if the cache clearing works in your case so others can learn.

Yes you have to be connected to att 3G. Mms doesn't work on wifi
wiping the cache did nothing, i guess it requires att's service because i broke and gave into their stupid 2gb plan and now i can recieve them. thanks for the help though guys.

Yes it does require an ATT data connection. It was one of the main things I tell people when they want to block data on their contracts. If you have data blocked then mms don't work as each mms uses 1kb of data that you don't get billed for as it is covered by the messaging plans.
So I had some escapades today, I had my SGS running jellybean, then I tried to change the screen density and bang, bootloop. I panicked and after some odin fiddling managed to get it booting Darky using odin. I was in a room with no signal at the time so I thought nothing of not having any signal, even so I then went ahead and used recovery to reinstall my Jellybean rom since that's a bit nicer than the 2.3 Darky.
Long and the short of it is, I can search for networks in my options and it will find them, but when I tell it to connect to one it says "Can't connect to this network right now. Try again later"
I have tried later and surprise surprise it didn't work. I have tried installing a different radio, clearing the dvalik cache and fixing permissions as well as a few other things. Please can anyone suggest something, this seems to be a very uncommon scenario and it's stressing me out that I can't find any solutions.

Yeah I've checked them and unfortunately they all seem to be in order still, though there are a lot more settings than any website offers things to put in them
same problem
i am having this same problem on all cyanogenmod 7,9,10. i have tried many radio and modem flashes. i can scan and see networks, but i can never connect to them.
have you made any progress?
Problem is EFS folder which tends to do with IMEI.
To fix it you need to copy the backup EFS folder from your SDCARD to the root of your device. (/)
If you don't have a backup you'll have to ODIN back to stock and re-root....etcetera

thx
thank you for the response. I put it back to stock lastnight before bed so i will give this a try.
i have the gti9000m from bell in canada. I updated it through kies to 2.3.3 gingerbread and it all went badly. It would boot up and load to the os be on for a bit then reset. It turned out to be wifi problem, running it on airplane mode stopped it from rebooting. Then if i tried to turn on wifi it would quickly reboot.
So then i tired all the cyanogenmods, which worked it stopped rebooting all the time. however the wifi would connect and work for about a minute then it would drop. doing the
1.turnOn gps
2.turnOn wifi
3. turnOff gps
this would let the wifi work again for about a minute. I tried all the wifi fixer apk, and a bunch of wifi.zip mods, and then ping the router gateway constantly, none solved this problem. Very annoying because i need the wifi working for develpoment of apps. I have spent a great many hours on this problem. lots of people seam to have this problem but no solutions have wokred for me.
So, my questions are....
1. does your wifi work?
2. how the heck do i get mine to work?
back to stock
After going back to stock then upgrading connecting to network operators is fine.
wifi is still broken though
Hi,
I have CM9 nightly installed on my SGS and it works nicely but it drains battery and internet does not work.
It worked good about 3-4 weeks but suddenly the signal strength bar (or whatever it's called) went to grey (it's normally blue) and if i try to use something what uses internet, it doesn't load anything.
Do you have the latest CM9 version?
Grey signal means you have a weak signal or does not have signal at all. Can you still send and receive SMS?
Yes i can make calls and receive sms. Signal bar is almost full. It would be almost black if have no signal.
But now it's light grey.
Did you try testing it with other phone? Just to prove that it is not your network provider's problem.

Not unless things start to force close. If they do that then you need to factory reset.
Also check your efs folder. It is possible that the data there has been scrubbed. If that's the case Odin a stock firmware with wipe efs ticked.
After that you can return to CM9.

Ladies and gents;
So i changed my rom a few days ago for the CM7.2 thanks to a guide on here, and it really impressed me in terms of performance and the whole package.
Problem is, i can't seem to connect to 3g, and cant seem to create any apn's either, device just doesnt do anything when i click on create new apn!
I have made sure that the baseband is on the right selection and so are my network settings...

Its possible that you might have just had a bad installation. Id recommend you backup your data and apps, go into recovery preform a factory reset, wipe all data and cache, and re-install the CM 7.2 ROM. I have had similar problems to what your having in the past when installing new versions of CM and most of the time re-installing the ROM did the trick.

I had the same problem with both 3G and 2G as well. I had to manually add APN in Settings>Wireless and Network>Mobile Network>Access point names
It works fine now, even when switching from 2G to 3G while connection is active. CM7 7.2.2
I flashed my phone HTC one to page using DFS and I pretty much just copied everything from the donor but everything works but I just cant make outgoing calls. I get a message telling me that there was an Error and i should turn my phone off then back on. Do you have any idea of what went wrong ? I tried changing prls and radios and restarting the whole flashing back to zero and even resting the phone back to zero with the RTN menu. i flashed this phone the same way to Verizon and worked fine but outgoing calls not working. Anyone have an idea what could be the problem ?

Hello
Make sure you have the correct ESN in the phone. Also make sure your phone number is attached to that ESN.
