My captivate wont download MMS for some reason. It just says Downloading for a while then itll go back to the download button. no picture will pop up.
Im running Phoenix Ultimate 2.2.1 with hardcorespeedmod
But i havent had any problems with it so i doubt its the ROM.
I have tried downloading thru wifi, do i have to have connect to atts 3G to download them?
ahh please help.

boot into recovery, wipe cache then go into advanced menu and wipe dalvik cache.

I had this happen once also. I flashed several different ROMs and even went back to stock twice. It would refuse to download MMS at all no matter what I did. It saw the messages but wouldnt download them. SMS still worked fine.
And then it just started working again. I attributed it to some glitch within ATT.
However, I never tried wiping the caches as suggested above. I would try that for sure. If it doesnt work, try calling ATT? My phone was a work number and customer service wouldnt talk to me about it without the password which I didnt have.
Report back if the cache clearing works in your case so others can learn.

Yes you have to be connected to att 3G. Mms doesn't work on wifi
wiping the cache did nothing, i guess it requires att's service because i broke and gave into their stupid 2gb plan and now i can recieve them. thanks for the help though guys.

Yes it does require an ATT data connection. It was one of the main things I tell people when they want to block data on their contracts. If you have data blocked then mms don't work as each mms uses 1kb of data that you don't get billed for as it is covered by the messaging plans.

i flashed my cappy from cog to the froyo but data and voice didnt seem to work, flashed back to stock then did a master clear and reflashed to froyo and same issue no data or voice, it shows the airplane mode although the setting says its off...
any suggestions?
EDIT: com.android.phone seems to be the problem, i cant access it using the *#... etc method...

I would try doing a master clear, then one-clicking. Also, some others said that simply rebooting may help. Also, is applicable, dont restore "system apps and data" from titanium backup, only "missing apps plus data" hope this helps
nope didnt work, i didnt even restore anything yet, its just weird because everything works flawless except voice and data....any help is appreciated

OR
if default does not work, try adding a NEW APN. you will find settings around the forums for APN
Go to settings and do a reset to factory in there. That fixes a similar error for me.

So only the update to JI6 (Froyo) causes the issue?
Maybe the link you downloaded from was corrupt? There was about 20 links last night haha.
yea only the ji6, cant be corrupt because i downloaded the orginal (was one of the first to download it) and a mirrored one.... still something fishy, be in mind i did have cog with voodoo and i never disabled it the lag fix... but im guessing the whole rom wouldnt work if that was the issue correct?
VooDoo would have been cleared when you did Master Clear, I believe.
Maybe try the Kies Mini update to JH7 and THEN flash the Froyo.

just do a simple re-boot......it looses the baseband after froyo update...a simple re-boot gets the baseband back.....try it!

That's the FIRST thing I do if I run into any problems on android
im trying the kies jh7 then flash method, but i did reboot several times and baseband never came back....should it be unplugged to pc or plugged?
Let me know how the Kies JH7 and then Flash method works for you; I think it SHOULD work because I was on stock JH7 when I flashed to Froyo JI6 and I have had nothing but a great experience since!

I was reading other posts where guys were having that issue with phones that were not on att network. This seems to lock you onto att and no other network will work. At least that was the opinion of the other posts.

Start from scratch my friend:
1.) Re-Flash Stock ODIN JF6 and then update to JH7 using Kies Mini
2.) REDOWNLOAD Froyo JI6 using the same link I did:

3.) Before Flashing JI6 please do a master clear, factory data reset and FORMAT all your SD cards
Then that should solve any problems you have buddy!

To do a master clear, enable usb debugging on your captivate, go to the homescreen, open odin, plug in your device. Once it is recognized press master clear from the homescreen. It will clear it and reboot your device

Hello,
I just flashed Perception 10.3 and I can do almost everything (make calls, send and receive SMS, data up and down) but I cannot receive calls. When I call from another phone, if I am on the H network, it rings for about half a second, then the screen goes black, sometimes there is a message that pops up but it goes away before I can even read a word, the phone vibes 3 times and then I lose connection until I hang up the phone I'm calling with. On the calling phone I get this message:
"The number or code you have dialed is incorrect, please check the number or code and dial again. (message 7, switch 076)"
When I'm on the 3g network, nothing happens on the Cap, it just goes to voicemail.
Any ideas what I can do to fix it?
Did you try a factory reset and then reflashing?
Flash to stock, Master Clear with Odin or GSM Master Reset with the dialer code, and reflash Perception.

And probably not a good idea to restore system data with titanium if thats what you did.
Yeah thats a problem when reinstalling system data from TiBu on a different system.
ie. 2.1 --> 2.2
When your using TiBu only backup Apps/Data

I did Master Clear and flash back to stock with Odin before flashing Perception, but I also backed up/restored system data with TiBu, it looks like that's where I went wrong. I thought since I was going from a 2.2.1 ROM to a 2.2.1 ROM, it would be alright, and since I didn't know what was considered system data and what was app data, I just went ahead with the whole Maryanne. I guess I'll have to re-flash tomorrow.

Im new to flashing roms, so bare with me. I flashed my first rom last week, using Andromeda3 and Ursa Minor #2 kernel, everything worked great except, i couldnt connect to 3G/H, even though it showed up on notification bar, tried looking for answers, i ended up flashing different modems to no avail. So, i flashed back to stock eclair, used kies mini to upgrade to Froyo 2.2 UCKB1, Data worked. I then flashed UCKB2 rom, data didnt worked) i tried wiping cache and all that, still no data connection, btw, wfi worked. So i flashed back to UCKB1, again, everything worked perfectly. The other day, i flashed Fusion XI and GB bootloaders, i must say i like this rom very much, but again still couldnt connect to 3G/H, everything else worked, although i havent tested the GPS yet, i am getting amazing DL/UL speeds through wifi. Anyway, i searched XDA for any answers i could find and pretty much tried them all, seems like only KB1 3G will work, but any custom rom out there, data hasnt worked even though i see it in notification area, i'd use market and browser, but would say could not connect. Am i doing something wrong/ missing a step?? I really like Fusion XI and dont want to flash back to stock. Any help would be appreciated.

That's weird.
Try flashing the kb1 modem on fusion.
I did try flashing the KB1 modem, but that too, didnt work. it only works if i go back to stock KB1 for some reason.
where do you live? what Carrier are you with?
have you checked your APN settings?
fill in your location and carrier/ device info in your signature/ xda user information.
I Live in Southeastern Pennsylvania. And currently have AT&T as my carrier. I tried APN settings, but not sure what to set it too, i have used APN Manager from the Market.
Try resetting ur apn settings to default. Then reboot.

Ok, tried that, still a no go connecting to data. I just flashed stock 2.1 then 2.2 update through Kies mini, i no longer have data connection even on official stock roms could this be a hardware issue??? gps sucks. ran a gps test using the app from market. other than that, everything else is working. what did i do wrong?
Hey all, I installed JB a few days a go (LQ4, rooted) and it has all worked just fine until now since I can't seem to download or send MMS messages. I've tried just about everything, including changing the auto-download, using WCDMA only and so on. The APN is correct.
The weird thing is that when i try to download a MMS the cell reception just completely dies sometimes and shows me that "not available"-sign before "rebooting" or whatever and giving me back the signal. This makes me think that this problem lies deeper than a few settings in the phone, but is there anything i can try before i restore it back to gingerbread?

No, worth trying? I figured since the LQ4, as far as I know is straight from samsung it should work fine as an update without a reset.. What will I lose from the reset?

You will lose apps installed, its data, your data (not from internal memory) like phonebook etc... But you can backup apps with Titanium Backup, and other stuff too.
Hey guys, since switching to the 4.3 roms my voicemail has not been working. If I leave a vm from my work phone it never reaches my actual phone or shows up in VVM. Even when I try to dial 1 and connect to my vm normally, it says that is an incorrect number.
Is there something I need to do to re-associate my vm number to my phone?

If for some reason even dialing your voicemail manually doesn't work, it sounds like there is a provisioning issue on your device, so you could try something. First try updating you profile: go to settings, system updates -all the way at the bottom-, and tap on update profile. If that doesn't work, I assume the option activate device doesn't work either since its a custom rom. So if that doesnt work, then try flashing the stock RUU, and run activate device, this will force your device to re download all the provisioning data for your account. Let me know if either of those methods works.

When I try to update my prl it says "Unfortunately vDM Client has stopped." and the Activate is there but when doing it the message says "Sorry we experience a system problem during your task. Please dial *2 for psrint customer care."
The phone works in every other capacity fine.

What rom are you using? you could try flashing the stock rooted rom and then try doing that:

Look at the second post for the stock rooted deodexed rom. Flash that, it has no modifications other than being rooted and deodexed. When you flash it then try running activate device. Let me know what happens

The first one I flashed was Venom, but it had some stability issues so I have swapped to Stock w/ Goodies earlier today. I will try to flash the complete stock later today. Is this like the old issues on the LTE Evo with provisioning where we had to occasionally call Sprint to do it?
Honestly i have no idea. And i doubt it. I cant see why you would need to call sprint. See when you activste your device it downloads everything necessary for provisioning so unless your phone is doing something wacky i doubt activating the device will fail. So yeah just flash the full stock rom and reactivate. It should work.

This did end up having to be resolved by Sprint, called into their support and they had to remove, refresh, and reapply my voicemail. Took about 5 minutes and everything worked again and all of my voicemailes I had missed showed up as well.

For future reference you can also try this. If you send a blank voice mail to [email protected] through the VVM app it will usually fix the problem. Had to do this on a friends phone the other day.
