Hi all,
I'm really impressed with the stamina mode on my XZ and only having to charge every other day but this morning I got a notification saying that Google+ was wasting my power and if I didn't use it I needed to force close or uninstall it.
If I force close it then it just starts again by itself and I cannot uninstall it, can only uninstall updates which I imagine is worse than leaving as is, any ideas how to get around this problem?
I do not use Google+ and never will so would prefer getting rid of for good.
Make sure you haven't got auto photo/video upload on in the Google+ settings.
This sometimes can cause battery drain on mine.
I'm not even signed in to Google+ so it shouldn't be doing anything.

Uninstall the updates, then you should be able to at least disable it.
Thank you, that worked exactly as you said, it is now disabled and hidden from my phone :good:
I'm having the exact same issues with G+ after I enabled Instant Upload. Seems like turning it off didn't do anything to help either.
Does anyone know if STAMINA logs any more detailed information somewhere on which process+subfunction that is blocking it from entering STAMINA-mode?
Anyways, posted to their G+ page about it so hoping they will give an answer

It doesn't actually block it from entering stamina mode, just causes it to be not as good as it would be without G+ (as it is sometimes doing it's own thing) I uninstalled my G+ as I will never use it and now I have the same problem with Maps, but as I sometimes use maps I ignored the warning.
If you use G+ then ignore the warning notification, I would guess you'll only be losing about an hours battery time over two days...

I tried to search around for other people having a similar problem but everything seems quite dated to almost a year ago. I just noticed recently that my phone is never going into deep sleep because Facebook is stuck in partial wakelock all the time unless I manually restart the phone or force close the application. Does anyone know what might cause this? I do use the chat feature from time to time and also upload a fair amount of photos via facebook but I have push notifications off and turn updates to never so I can just do it manually.
Nothing has seemed to work thus far.
I have the same problem on my phone..
Just uninstall and then install again.
This work for me.

Tried this already. Worked for a couple days and now it's back to doing it again

Hi,
I'm getting this notification randomly about some sort of battery saving program and when I tap it, it opens up a web page. I don't know what has caused it to occur. It started when I installed imilka's cm9 but I did a fresh install and so I was installing lots of software back on yo my phone at the time so it could be anything.
I get the notification about 3 times per day and its starting to annoy me because it is clearly malware that I have not asked for. Goodness knows what other problems it might be causing.
Here's a screenshot. Hopefully someone can enlighten me... just let me know if there's any other info I can provide. Might not be able to respond until later tonight as I'm about to go to work.
Thanks for the help.
Try Air Push Detector and Addons Detector application from the play store.
I got a notification earlier saying something about MyXperia stopping STAMINA mode, but not all of the text was visible. But when I clicked on it to find out what it was going on about, it just opened MyXperia settings. I don't know if it is affecting stamina mode, and moreover I think it is, because I'm getting WIFI push notifications that I wouldn't if my wifi was off when my screen is off.

Are you sure that was all that was said? Maybe it was something alongside those lines: "[app_name] is preventing STAMINA mode from saving power in standby."? Some apps need constant wifi connection to pull data so that you are always up to date which kinda kills the purpose of stamina but stamina should overrule them. I suggest you use Greenify, it goes well with stamina.
If the "error" you got is same as i quoted, I also encountered it. After that i forced stopped the app at fault, waited - didnt get the error. After a reset i also didnt get the error. I just assumed that was a one time thing.
Does the thing you describe happen often or did you see it once?

Yeah it was exactly as you described,
Yeah I also Force Stopped my xperia, and turned it off too, and it seems to be fine now. I wouldn't mind being able to turn it back on but with Android Device Manager doing the same thing, I'm a little more okay with it.

What do you mean? Im afraid I dont follow. To force stop means to kill an app thus i dont understand what did you kill exactly? Do you mean you reset your phone or...?
Anyway, I hope you got your problem solved. If not, be more, much more specific next time. The devil is in the details, so if you are asking for help provide as many as you can, it help people to help you.
I have updated to the lollipop update like many and my phone is warm and sometimes hot.
I am not using my phone and it still gets warm and drains the battery life.
In 4 hours I will go from 100% to dead with no use.
My screen was off but shows it as being on. **See attached photo
I searched the MOTO threads and cant find anything as of now to resolve this issue.
Anyone else having this issue and find a fix?
Tried wifi channels to see if this issue fixes this, cleared cache and nothing........
Hope help comes quick!
If I can get some help I will buy them a beer or coffee!
Okay here's an updated seems to fix the issue......
I disabled the WiFi location settings, download clean master -- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cleanmaster.mguard -- and seemed to have fixed the issue so far.
Keep you posted as the day goes on.
After you updated, did you do a factory reset? If not, and before you do, what apps do you have installed? You might have an unruly app that's just constantly running. I hear Google Fit hasn't been too friendly...
Since Google services is pretty high on the usage list, it could have something to do with syncing errors or maybe problems with updating Google Play services/Play Store. Make sure you have the latest versions.
Google Play services (6.5.85) - http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google.../google-play-services-6-5-85-1589008-438-apk/
Google Play Store (5.0.38) - http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-play-store/
Also, unsync any services in your Google account that you aren't using.
Don't forget to turn off extraneous radios like WiFi (if you don't use it for location), GPS, NFC, and Bluetooth when you're not using them.
If all else fails, factory reset and pay attention to the apps that are being downloaded. Uninstall garbage and disable what you can't uninstall, but don't use. Hopefully this helps.
EDIT: Seems you fixed it. Nice! Well, use this as a reference for your next step if things don't stay behaved.

Clear cache and reboot. If you still have the problem, do a factory reset. Also, has the phone stabilized? Have you been through a couple of charge/use cycles? There could be a load of background processes setting up for the first day or so.
Seems the Qualcomm battery guru is a culprit as is the xfinity WiFi app.
Motorola said do a factory reset but I don't want to if something else can be done.
Think it's fixed by the WiFi location and the clean matter app showing the apps that kill the battery.
Here is a great article about asps that keep restarting in lollipop. It's a bug in ART. Google is working on a fix.

Best method... Root and use greenify...

I'll post my battery drain/overheating story just to join the fray...i updated to Lollipop 4 days ago and I have had to charge my S5 at least a dozen times. I have tried power save mode, disabling every nonessential app and anything else I can find in the forums.
I used to get 15-16hrs of battery life (6am-10pm) with charge to spare, but immediately after the update my CPU sits maxed (monitored by Micro CPU Monitor) and constantly overheats (GSAM Battery Monitor). The phone went from 95°F to 105°F in 10min with standard use. I only had it overheat one other time in the last year (on my dash in the summer). I hope Google/Verizon will replace my battery because this abuse of it is going to shorten the life considerably!
See screen shots from the last charge at 4pm to now (10:15pm) all while UNUSED and in powersave mode plus battery at 107°F (a new record for me)!
I really don't want to reset the phone and lose my app settings, plus it seems to be hit/miss with other's issues. Any suggestions would be great.
Seems hit or miss.
Not sure what to tell you but try making sure you're Wi-Fi isn't always searching for locations when not connected. Seems this is a huge problem for many as Verizon threads and Android forums are filling up. I don't have an S5 but will keep looking for the fix.
Quick read-

Hi guys,
Has anyone had any problems with whatsapp on our phone? The app seems to get killed somehow when the phone goes to sleep, so I don't receive any messages until I open it up. I've not got any powersaver modes running and background data is allowed etc etc, it's getting very annoying and i'm sure the phone is killing a background process but can't work out how to fix it.
Anyone have any ideas?
Cheers
I had a similar issue with hangouts but I cleared cache and data and it worked again. maybe give this a shot for whatsapp

No problem at all.
I use stamina mode all the time, excluding Gmail, Whatsapp, Timely and Cerberus, and I receive emails and messages.
My firmware version is 23.0.A.2.98
I have stamina mode activated all the time but whatsapp works great
Thanks for your replies, i don't what the problem is. The same thing happens if i am in stamina mode (with the app whitelisted) or not in stamina mode.
I have tried re-installing, clearing cache and data etc but the problem perists. I guess i will have to ask the app developers, presumably they will blame the phone

When you notice it start happening, check the "running apps" in settings. Do most of them show "restarting" etc? I think I have the same issue. It looks like a memory leak on my side.
I've seen similar to this but I think it might also be related to when other people have a connection. My wife has issues with her work wifi and sometimes I only get her messages once she's back on our home network. I see the time stamp in whatsapp as the time she originally wrote the message...
Thanks - will check that next time i see it happening, it doesn't look like it has restarted recently but possibly was "pausing". I've restarted my phone now so all processes are on the same clock so i can spot any breaks easier next time

Cheers but seems not likely as messages from multiple contacts appear at the same time when i open the app, so the problem must be on my end
Quick update, i've had the problem happen again and checked the running apps, there was no pause happening. Even this morning on the train i was looking at the internet, so my phone was connected to data and obviously not asleep and i got no messages. Later on, i opened the app and a message appeared, sent at the time i was looking at the internet. I'm flummoxed. Will raise a support call and update if i have any luck
