Google maps can't locate. Any solution?
Might be a daft question, but is the Location Services switched on?

It's all on , still have problem.
I had the same problem. After I found out what to do i still didn't find it again after reading this thread.
But I finally found it again.
Sort Apps Alphabetically, find Google Settings. Goto location settings and allow Google apps to access your location.

I m 100% sure opening all, but still unavailable.
All I done was, turn google services on. Try turning gps on and off again. Or reinstall gmaps.

I've found that GPS location is working fine for me but network location is not returning anything.
It shows up in some apps like google skymap that try to get a coarse location instead of gps, none of them can get a fix.
So I tried a repair, no difference.
Then a factory reset and finally google location services work.
So chalk that down to yet another bug that may be fixed by resetting.

Should of just cleared data and cache in apps management. Google maps can be finnicky and this normally always sort it out.

It wasn't just google maps though, I tried a few different apps.
Things like flight radar and google skymap which use coarse locations.
SkEye was very handy as it asks to set a location and lists the gps location and the network derived location.
The gps would get a lock quickly outside but the network one would stay at waiting for location for ever.
Since the reset it is instantly populated.
Of course after you set a location it crashes but that's a SkEye issue.
The easiest thing to do was get into Google setting app that was preinstalled and enable the location thingy... Even tho I enabled it in phone settings, the switch in Google settings app was off, and I couldn't use maps, but as soon as I found this settings in app it worked straight away

I had the same problems.
I've found that clearing all the settings or factory resetting, then turning all the location based settings, and then immediately restarting the phone afterwards, leaves you with a box at startup asking whether you agree to google collecting anonymous data etc and clicking allow now means maps works fine.
Clearing cache and data for maps should also do the trick as long as you restart the phone as soon as you've turned on the options.

Hey
My weather app always seems to just say MY LOCATION and not the town I`m in but when i first got the phone it was able to show it.
My google maps works fine and always finds me no problem but the weather app cant
anyone know any solution to this?
Thanks
Go to location in settings, untick everything then renable everything. Press "agree". Reboot.
See if that helps.

It worked!
Thanks
On my old device, the HTC Evo 3D, the setting "Location & Google Search" under the Location setting in the Settings menu did NOT need to be checked to use the GPS in Google Maps, Google Nav, etc. The case still remains the same even after my phone was disabled and I use it via WiFi.
On my new HTC One however, that setting NEEDS to be turned on, otherwise it doesn't work and says I need to enable it. Both of my phones have the same version of Google Maps.
Can anybody chime in? Thanks!
Just enable it?

Since yesterday I've been experiencing issues with location features on non-Google apps. Specifically:
Waze boots then FCs.
Facebook can't find my location when I try to check in, but CAN find my location if I tap the location icon when writing a status update.
Google apps are unaffected. Navigation works fine and check ins via the G+ app also work properly.
The only things I've done since the last time I used Waze or Facebook was to install Rootkeeper and attempt to install the latest OTA. The OTA installation failed at the bootloader so I don't think any system changes were made.
Regardless, I've since uninstalled Rootkeeper and flashed the odexed, updated stock ROM that viperboy posted but that hasn't fixed the problem.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
I am also experiencing issues with my location update. This started after the update was installed on my device. My phone reads "current location" but never updates. I have rebooted many times but no fix.

I am encountering the same issue. I justed restored my One to a unrooted stock state last night. This morning ran into the same issue of Waze closing when trying to launch it. Also noticed that the location displayed on the phone now says ""My Location", Yelp and Foursquare will not display useful info unless I get a GPS signal. Foursquare shows me results all over the globe (Tel Aviv, Sai Paulo) and when the map appears in Yelp it is off the coast of West Africa....

Lol. Wow. I wonder if anyone else has this issue. If so, HTC needs to push a fix soon.

Well looks like a factory restore has resolved my issues. Thank goodness for Helium.
Factory reset worked for me as well. Thanks, Helium!!
I hate to do a factory reset when I just setup my phone. I'm not rooted yet so I can't make a backup.

I cannot post links yet but it looks like Google is aware of it. Seems to be limited to HTC devices so far. Looks to be related to the recent Google play services update. Makes me wonder what HTC did that could cause this....

Same issue here... I can't even get a basic (tower-triangulated) location in Google Maps with my GPS off.

So I made a booboo... I tried to set up a subscription using "bill to account" while connected to WiFi. Of course it errors out but unlike buying an app in the play store this one keeps the error. It will only give me debit or credit option with a message at the top pretty much saying billing to the account was not allowed. I've tried uninstalling the app and wiping cache but when reinstalling the app it gives same code. Any help would be great...
When I set up a new gmail account the option is there but not with current one. Is there a way to wipe all saved settings from her gmail account. Maybe that might help.
Stupid stupid stupid Google. For anyone else. If you want Google play all access don't try to add it to your account while connected to WiFi

Try clearing the cache or even data for the play store.

Stupid as it is, that definitely doesn't always clear relevant settings. I have no idea why (other than sloppy uninstallation routines), but it really doesn't. Has billing to your account worked elsewhere recently/how long has it been since this started? It might be a server-side issue.

I've been able to apply this setting on several phones. Before and after. 2 just today. But with the others it was done through sprints network not WiFi. This was done through WiFi and got stuck. Now I can't get it to reset so I can setting up the subscription properly. I got in contact with Google and all they can tell me is if I'm trying to apply something to a bill I have to use the carrier data not WiFi. And if I accidentally use WiFi and it fails to just back out, disconnect WiFi and enable carrier data and retry. But Google play music is the only service outside of the play store that uses these same methods but can not be undone as instructed. I told them that and I have not gotten a response yet and it's been several days.

Hi,
My Xperia suffers from a Google Play-services drain, and keeps awaking it. Does anybody have a fix for this? Device isnt rooted jet, but can if must.
Softwarerepair didnt help.
Anyone?
KR,
Rubenos
Did you try to disable Google Now already? Or disable location based on wifi?

The only way to solve it is by disabling google play services (and enabling them only when you need them) or rooting your phone, installing an app like "Disable Service" and disabling some stuff under google play services and google services framework...but you could still get ocassional wakelocks here n there. This is how I do it.
If you still get EventLog wakelock, try enabling EventLog in both google services and google framework instead of disabling them. Just use Wakelock detector to see what is causing wakelocks and try disabling or enabling those services with the app I mentioned before. Let me know if it helps

Disabled Google Now, all location services (GPS/Google), disabled via AppOps some settings, but I get the idea that its still asking for location. It keeps awaking my device.
@finac94: How do i get those options you posted?

You need to be rooted and download an app called "Disable Service"

NP, let me know if it helped. I'm still fighting with the wakelocks sometimes, but it' much better than it was...you just have to play with the settings and try out different options. There's also some threads on xda about which services to disable so definitely check those out.
There's also an app called "System tuner" which also lets you disable certain recievers if the "Disable Service" doesn't help.
