Xperia T Play-services Battery Drain (.205, Dutch) - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

Hi,
My Xperia suffers from a Google Play-services drain, and keeps awaking it. Does anybody have a fix for this? Device isnt rooted jet, but can if must.
Softwarerepair didnt help.
Anyone?
KR,
Rubenos

Did you try to disable Google Now already? Or disable location based on wifi?

The only way to solve it is by disabling google play services (and enabling them only when you need them) or rooting your phone, installing an app like "Disable Service" and disabling some stuff under google play services and google services framework...but you could still get ocassional wakelocks here n there. This is how I do it.
If you still get EventLog wakelock, try enabling EventLog in both google services and google framework instead of disabling them. Just use Wakelock detector to see what is causing wakelocks and try disabling or enabling those services with the app I mentioned before. Let me know if it helps

Disabled Google Now, all location services (GPS/Google), disabled via AppOps some settings, but I get the idea that its still asking for location. It keeps awaking my device.
@finac94: How do i get those options you posted?

You need to be rooted and download an app called "Disable Service"

NP, let me know if it helped. I'm still fighting with the wakelocks sometimes, but it' much better than it was...you just have to play with the settings and try out different options. There's also some threads on xda about which services to disable so definitely check those out.
There's also an app called "System tuner" which also lets you disable certain recievers if the "Disable Service" doesn't help.

Yeah it seems like such a pointless addition. But you can try freezing with TB or something.

Any reason you need to remove it? It looks like it's just making the Google settings more open and easier to access.

I like to remove useless apps.
Especially when they get secretly installed.
It's crap in my eyes.
Thx. for replying everyone.

Seems you get it, when Playstore is updated.
Green icon in app drawer.

For those of you who prefer not to be sheep going to slaughter.
I unistalled google play services and that removed it from the phone. Not sure what else will be affected but I am still able to download/install apps from play store. I figure I may miss the next version of play store that comes out. Better than them sneaking stuff in. You may find the actual apk inside the google play directories. Please post if you do.
Also if anyone has ever figured out how to disable E911. If you dont want to disable yours that fine. STFU because your input is not needed ok. I dont want it on, period!!!
For the rest go ahead and follow the heard. [sheep noises....lol] !

Google Play Store and Goggle Play Services are not related. But it was a clever move with the names.
Google Play Services are the core to a host of future functions, especially to apps relating to social contacts, location related services and in particular (paid) games playing. Also, as many have detected already, with the 3. party sign-in control Google is able to watch and possibly control to whom and how you have contact with.
If you de-install Google Services, it will be auto re-installed in shortest time again in the backgound. If you happen to be on mobile data at that time, the bill is on you. If you disable or freeze Google Play Services, it will not be auto re-enabled. At least not as of now. But some functions of the phone and some Google apps like Hangout are made dependant on Goggle Play Services. So there function will cease.
More and more people are disgruntled about the way Google is doing things now. It is absolutely Googles own thing what apps they want to develop, and what functions they want to implement. But shoving down apps onto my property without my consent is not acceptable to me.
The people are not sheeps bcs they are forced to have things installed things they don't fully understand. I believe that many simply don't think twice, if something is (superficially) free, The strategies of companies like Goggle build on that fact.
Yep, it reinstalled. I will freeze it. But the sheep are the people that say one should accept it, or come back with tin foil comments etc. Those are sheep. I agree why force it on people? Esp from software the is supposed to be opensource. As one person posted somewhere it also redundant.
I know what you mean and I share your resentments. Albeit I fear there is nothing much we can do.
Google makes more and more Android functions depend on Google Play Service being on, and up to date. Just recently I registered that Calendar synchronisation now does not work with this "Services" disabled.
Unless someone makes a hacked version of that skunk.

[Q] can not use maps

Google maps can't locate. Any solution?
Might be a daft question, but is the Location Services switched on?

It's all on , still have problem.
I had the same problem. After I found out what to do i still didn't find it again after reading this thread.
But I finally found it again.
Sort Apps Alphabetically, find Google Settings. Goto location settings and allow Google apps to access your location.

I m 100% sure opening all, but still unavailable.
All I done was, turn google services on. Try turning gps on and off again. Or reinstall gmaps.

I've found that GPS location is working fine for me but network location is not returning anything.
It shows up in some apps like google skymap that try to get a coarse location instead of gps, none of them can get a fix.
So I tried a repair, no difference.
Then a factory reset and finally google location services work.
So chalk that down to yet another bug that may be fixed by resetting.

Should of just cleared data and cache in apps management. Google maps can be finnicky and this normally always sort it out.

It wasn't just google maps though, I tried a few different apps.
Things like flight radar and google skymap which use coarse locations.
SkEye was very handy as it asks to set a location and lists the gps location and the network derived location.
The gps would get a lock quickly outside but the network one would stay at waiting for location for ever.
Since the reset it is instantly populated.
Of course after you set a location it crashes but that's a SkEye issue.
The easiest thing to do was get into Google setting app that was preinstalled and enable the location thingy... Even tho I enabled it in phone settings, the switch in Google settings app was off, and I couldn't use maps, but as soon as I found this settings in app it worked straight away

I had the same problems.
I've found that clearing all the settings or factory resetting, then turning all the location based settings, and then immediately restarting the phone afterwards, leaves you with a box at startup asking whether you agree to google collecting anonymous data etc and clicking allow now means maps works fine.
Clearing cache and data for maps should also do the trick as long as you restart the phone as soon as you've turned on the options.

Switch off push notification

Hi
How to turn off push notifications in xperia T?
In the appropriate app/settings? This has nothing to do with the device, but rather the app that sends push notifications. And since you didn't mention which app you want to stop sending push, we can't be more specific than this...

You could also go for the brute force way and disable Google Services Framework and Google Play Services.
But.. No Play Store after, so not a that good idea. ^^

Might work for some apps, but I know that it doesn't work for WhatsApp. I usually have them disabled and enable them only to access the Play Store. Best option is to configure each app as stated above.

Heavy wakelocks caused by google play services

I've got heavy wakelocks from google play services and they won't let the device go to sleep when screen is off.
I've tried following fixes regarding this issue.
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/f...-guard.297792/
None of them worked for me..
Could it be of the Gapps I use?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53739230&postcount=5031
This worked for me for me...but only til I rebooted the phone.
I've tried different Gapps packages..all the same.
Any suggestions what I am doing wrong or how I can permanently get rid of the wakelocks caused by google play services?
I'm on Mackay 4.4.4 ROM and using Open Gapps 4.4 from 11/22/15
Can someone help me out of this misery please? :crying:
Got a workaround but not quite the root of all evil.
In privacy settings I disabled "keep awake" for Google play services and the battery drain is much better.
But now I am getting "unfortunatly Google play services has stopped" sometimes.
Everything seems to work..
It is OK but anoying somehow.
Anyone here with an actual solution?

I am not wuite sure what you mean with "DisableService in Google Play".
Can you please be more specific?
Do you mean the app "Disable Service" and if so what to disable exactly?
I've already tried to use the app to enable "SystemUpdateService" as it is disabled, but it went
back to disabled after boot.
Yeah! You must download https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice&hl=pl
****Go to Google Services>search this:
- "UPDATE" |||| off ALL
- "Sync" III off ALL
- Game III off ALL
And disable almost all proces, in background.
you have to embrace it-yourself
And your GOOGLE SERVICE WILL BE so low
Sorry for my bad english.

Question NLPwakelock

Hi all,
Can someone please help get rid of this stupid wakelock? BBS says google play services app is causing this wakelock, but is there a way to get rid of it without rooting?
try Naptime by Franco, it's an amazing app... you'll have to one time provide adb access to the app

Yes...I do know about this. The issue is it does a blanket app restriction but not app specific app components. I can't put Google play services into sleep as it literally make my phone a paper weight with no notifications whatsoever...
