Note app - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Some help with the built-in Notes app please....I had a Note 2 and used S-note quite a bit, I used drop-sync for Dropbox as Samsung have a weird .srb file type for their notes....I've since saved all my notes as .pdf files and they are accessible in my Dropbox folder. Now I want to do something similar with my XZ, there is a built in Notes app which is basic but does the job, it has a sync option which is with Evernote, which I've created an account with them and turned the sync on though it's not syncing my notes to Evernote
Has anyone else used the Notes app yet? If so have you got Evernote sync working?
Cheers

On the top of the Notes app, just beside the icon you can see area with a number of notes you have taken. Click there and from the drop-down menu select your Evernote account, now they will sync.

Thank you, that has been driving me mad, not sure how I missed it!

I have another problem with the built-in app. It's great that it syncs with Evernote, the widget is just awesome, but you cannot edit the notes from the app, you have to open them via Evernote. If you create a note from the app, then you can edit it, but then it syncs with Evernote, and once you edit or view it in Evernote, you again cannot edit it in the built-in app. Any suggestions?

Facebook pics on contacts

So suddenly my contacts that are joined with my facebook friends aren't sharing the pics. Used to be that whenever I would get Call or a text the contacts name would show up with their facebook picture. Now all of a sudden it just shows an android pix. Although the facebook pix will show up in the contacts page. Anyone have any ideas? Im using com rom 2.1 and this high voltage reenergized.
Here is what I do. I use the Max os x address book and sync it to my Google account, and there is an app that sybcs Facebook info with address book. So I sync Facebook and address book, then address book with Google, the Google with the phone. Haha.

Have you tried setting defaults, with joined contacts, to facebook pics?

There is no option to link photos in the app. Does it do it automatically? Been a few hours since installed and nothing has changed.
Here's a question to all: is this linked account done via the Facebook app or SNS? I noticed personally that pictures would only show up with SNS configured.
How do you set defaults? Been looking around on phone and can't find anything. Also, I sync using facebook so everything isn't doubled up. Is that why the pics aren't linking?
I have the same issue

You can tell the Facebook app to not sync contacts, and tell SNS to sync contacts, and you won't double up. That's been my experience on CR2.1.
Running ComRom 2.1 and have had same problem. SyncMyPix didn't work for me, but I did find a workaround.
I downloaded and installed 'Phonebook' from Market. It is a contact replacement app. I logged into Facebook through the app and it matched my existing contacts and it automatically downloaded their Facebook pictures and replaced all the Contact pictures.
Now when I go back into 'Contacts' all the latest Facebook profile pictures are with the contacts. And the photos also appear for incoming calls and text messages.
Hope that helps.
You gotta go into facebook settings. And then select, "Sync existing contacts with facebook contacts". The names have to be exactly the same as well or else it won't sync automatically. Otherwise you'd just have to link it manually.
is there a way to link contacts in cm7?
Go into market and search "syncmypix"
It takes all the pictures for contacts you have and uploads them to Google contacts

You are 100% correct. I disable the facebook app from syncing. Then I re-created the SNS facebook sync, and joined my contacts again. Everything shows up.

[SOLVED] Re-syncing Facebook contacts?

Somehow, I am not able to get to the screen where you choose to sync your facebook contacts like when you first get that after installing a rom/wiping data.
I can not add a facebook account through accounts and sync. Deleting all facebook data doesn't help it. Please help!
if you open the fb app and go into settings, there's an option to sync contacts
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
If you can't add an account, it might be because you used Froyo's method of app2sd. Move the app back to the "internal" memory and see if you can add an account back (you may need to reboot for it to show up in the account selection section).

There is no such option in my FB App either.
Is there a solution for re-syncing the contacts?

If that isn't the case, you may not have enough freespace on the device to store any info...
That weird, for me when I go into settings and scroll down I have this.
but just follow bassmadrigal instructions above.

That was just the setting I didn't have. Don't worry anymore, though, I solved it by using an external application. Furthermore, I would just like to say I do not run ICS any longer. I currently run samuaz CM7 ROM and will continue using it until all the major bug and stability issues with the current ICS builds are ironed out.
ICS really is a great ROM and it's gonna be a tough choice between choosing an AOSP ICS build or a cyanogenmod AOSP ICS build. I really "dig" cyanogenmod so that's probably what I'll look forward to.

I didn't use app2sd or something like that. So I think the app is in the internal memory.
And my phone is just 3 days old so it should have enough space.

If just some aren't working, then overall, your app is working, it just isn't always able to find the right person to sync it with. Just find that facebook contact, then click on their picture to get the little popup with email and their contact card. Click on the contact card and select edit contact, then use the menu button and click on join. Find the contact in your normal contact and select that person. This will join the contacts.

Sorry I didn't made it clear: There are some Fb contacts missing, not the link between my contacts and Fb.
So it isn't possible for me to link them, because they don't exist
Is this with the stock facebook app? Because I know if you use third-party ones like Friendcaster, if they blocked the app, they won't show up. If it is the stock app, I really don't know. I haven't seen that issue at all.

Facebook contacts not showing..

I have created Facebook account and it's working in socialhub but I couldn't get the contacts to sync with device. In GB there will be an option to check whether do or do not sync contacts. But I couldn't find it in ICS. How to solve this?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
go to your contacts and hit settings. then accounts. Then check off the "sync" icon next to facebook
^^ Copy That.
Else you can do one more thing. Reinstall the FB app. Once I got stuck in somewhat similar thing like that.
I found that my facebook application which was restored by titanium backup didn't actually sync well with contacts. so had to reinstall.
I checked it and its in green color. When I go further it shows only messages and calendar. It didn't show up contacts. Any idea?

I'm talking about inbuilt social hub which lets the contacts to sync with Facebook account.. Can I re install that?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Why don't you use the fb app which is AVAILABLE in market. It also syncs in the same way.
Sure it will work.. But I don't wanna pile up with apps. Social hub has to do this job and I wanted to do it. Actually when I was GB I'll remove all social hub related apps (twitter account, linked account, even default mail app) except Facebook account, still it was syncing contacts flawlessly. Now I wanted the same. Does ICS doesn't have that capability??

Should I remove all Facebook items from ICS and install third party apps from market?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Well I think you should wait for some more time till a solution comes out. I had the same problem with SocialHub. I chose over FB Market App since I didnt have time & wanted to get my contacts asap back. :/ Still will send you any info which might be helpful on this topic
Thanks.. Just now Google it... It seems there is a bug in ICS that stops sync contacts particularly in contactsprovider.apk. We need to add some .xml file it seems. Which is too tech for me so m gonna search some other option for this.

how many times?
Havent tried myself but something is here
iCal can sync with Google Calendar, and Outlook 2011 can sync with iCal.
So: Google Calendar --> iCal --> Outlook 2011 for Mac
1) Set up you Google Calendar in iCal.
To do this, open iCal, go to Preferences, select the Accounts tab, click the '+' (plus) sign to add an account. In the Add account dialogue, select Gmail from the drop down menu. Enter your Gmail (or Google apps) email address and password and click Create. Proceed to Outlook 2011.
2) Configure iCal sync in Outlook 2011.
Go to Outlook Preferences and choose Sync Services in the bottom of the window. Tick the Calendar check box. In the accounts window it will say 'On my computer'. This is correct, as iCal does the sync'ing to your computer.
Wait a few minutes (or perhaps close/open Outlook) to see your calendar entries appear. You can always double check that they appear in iCal first

I wonder why the search function in PlayStore does not find this app. Using google, I found it under Google Play. However, it states that it is not compatible with my Galaxy Note! Anybody knows what is going on?

assuming you have PC at work: google calendar sync, beware - you need admin rights to install it, then it sits quietly in system tray and sync at given intervals

Outlooks suggested contacts

long time iphone user here just moved over to the moto x. The only thing that is hard for me is the lack of outlook's suggested contacts. IOS was great about picking up on those so I could email I had ever emailed from my phone without the contact being saved. Android doesn't seem to do this auto so I'm hoping there is a setting somewhere that I can enable this priceless functionality.
Did you check the Outlook's app in the play store? It might be able to do that.

That feature is missing with Android's Exchange ActiveSync connection. I know iOS devices can sync contacts subfolders (which is what the Suggested Contacts folder is).

Interesting. This is a feature I'm going to miss coming from the HTC mail app.
Does Touchdown use it's own address book, or does it use the standard one?
