[Q] CWM rom manager list 2 recoveries - RAZR i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi my problem here is that i am trying to update to JB and one tutorial for making this needs the installation of CWM and when im installing CWM it lists 2 recoveries that are previously installed that are CWM and TWRP... but after rebooting i think the recovery that appears is the stock one because it shows a header thats says "android recovery <e3>"
why my recoveries are not recognized :/ and how do i install CWM properly
TY
UPDATE: i found out that i lost SU after a flash (idk why) and that was preventing from launching any of these recoveries... after this i made an OTA of the 4.0.4 EU retail to JB and my headphone jack was fixed

[Q] 'error occured while flashing your recovery' in while flashing rom manager

hey guys,
I am noob to rooting. Recently rooted my nexus s GT-I9020 and installed clockworkmod recovery version 5. I tried installing CM10.1 Rom for nexus s. Installed rom manager from store and tried flashing recovery there I got this error stating 'An error occured while flashing your recovery'. Tried many times, replaced version 3 to version 5 of clockworkmod recovery. Dont have any idea what to do. Kindly help me to sort this out please!!!!.
use this recovery image
http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.2.5-crespo.img
and get the latest cm nightly from here
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=crespo
these are both from the official sources, so you know they will flash as they should

[Q] Recovery doesn't "stick"?!

Hello guys,
I would like to flash a different version of CWM onto my N7000 but somehow it does not stick.
I currently run AOKP 4.1.2 and it has 6.0.1.5 as CWM which always gives you the md5 generation error when you do a nandroid backup.
I've installed Rom Manager and downloaded a different version of CWM and tried to install it both with Rom manager and also in CWM itself.
On the first boot after I flash some other recovery like the one from rom Manager (6.0.1.2) it actually loads the new recovery and lets me do a sucessful nandroid for example, but when i reboot into recovery another time the old recovery is back.
When I flash a new rom though, the CWM does get permanently replaced. I flashed a different rom which came with CWM 6.0.2.8 and then I permanently had that version. (same behaviour when I tried to overwrite it with the 6.0.1.2, wouldnt stick).
I even tried just partially restoring the nandroid and leaving boot out, but then phone will get stuck on boot.
Is there any way to permanently flash a recovery to the note without overwriting the whole boot.img? CWM and Rom Manager do not seem to be able. Maybe Heimdall or ODIN? Been so long since I had to use them..
Hope someone knows whats goin on with the recoveries.?!
because the recovery is in the kernel. to change recovery, you need to change the kernel. MD5 error is a known bug in AOKP.
you can use this

thanks man, yea i got some tools installed that should be able to do a nandroid from running system, was just wondering if there is a way to permanently switch the recovery - it is sometimes booted, right after flash but then its gone - so there must be a way to stop the restore or?
Or are there any custom aokp kernels out there for the n7000? usually they only support TW or CM as far as I saw, or only older versions.

can't install a CWM recovery mode or Custom rom

hey guys.this is my first thread on XDA. so my problem is,i tried to install an CWM or TWRP recovery kernel on my gt i9070.the sad thing is i cannot install any cwm recovery modes because it says "E: signature verification failed" i had tried all day and no answer for that.at one time i got TWRP recovery mode that can flash via odin.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1873119
so i tried to flash some CWM recovery modes for JB and it doesn't works. when i install other recovery mode using that recovery mode.it says it successfully flashed, but when i tried to restart and go to recovery mode, there is the same kerenel that i used to flash, the flashing was not successful.only working roms are company roms only.they work well when i flash it via odin.also JB rooting kernel can be flash successfully. i dont know why..so..please help me. i don't like this Touchwiz UI..
Thanks and sorry for bad english...
I have answered your question in the other thread here.
That kernel you showed in the link is for 2.3.6 GingerBread not for 4.1.2 JellyBean. Follow the link I gave you in the other post to properly root your JellyBean and installing custom kernel and recovery. Or if you are still on 2.3.6 GB, you use that guide to upgrade to JB.

ROM unable to install

This is my second attempt to install custom ROM and I failed... I did everything step by step and it doesn't work. Or it doesnt boot at all or it craches in recovery mode while installing update.
This time i used some nightly unofficial and it stoped installing in recovery :S This is so annoyng
I downloaded stock lastest from code support for my Samsung S5830 because obviously there is non stable version of custom ROM right now.
I do not advise to go over Android 2.3.6 for S5830 or you will burn down your phone system...

Rooted phone with SuperOneClick successfully
downloaded CWM recovery, custom ROM, google apps and newcamera.apk
puted in SD
entered recovery mode, hard reset options (wipe data + catche)
installed zip from SD (CWM recovery)
rebooted recovery
installation of custom ROM stoped with error code (7)
from there i wouldnt be able to boot system
then i used code support and downloaded firmware flash files for S5830
odin installed it but also wont boot up the phone
then i pissed off and took old polish firmware installed with odin, after that did hard reset and now phone is working on 2.3.6

Ok now you are unrooted on your new polish right. So now root it with UniversalGingerbreadroot.zip (google it.) Flash an older version of CWM(5.0) through the stock recovery. Finally install a stable custom rom initially do not go for CM roms as for testing try some other stock based rom and if successful you can advance to CWM.
All the best.

Here you'll find ROOT and CWM files to get ready your Ace, than you'll be able to install Customs STOCK Roms, CM7.x, CM9.x, CM10.x
Read carefully the threads in GT-S5830 Android Development section and follow the dev's instructions
PS: To get CM11.x you'll need to flash CWM6.x or TWRP

Can't install custom recovery (CWM/TWRP). Boot always in stock recovery.

Hi, i have this problem with my tab, first off, my usb connection doesn't work and i don't know why (it just stops one day. I tried everything with drivers with no results, and the cable is fine because it can charge) and i want to flash a rom to update my android version, but the only way i can do this is flashing it from device. The problem is i can't install CWM or TWRP.. i trid using ROM Manager and other apps with no luck. It always reboot to stock recovery 3e no matter what i do.
My question is can i install a custom recovery from stock recovery? if so where can i get the zip file?. Is there another way to install a recovery?. I tried different apps but some like RashR have compatibility problems and the device cant run them. Im using stock android 3.1 version
Any help will be very appreciated.. Sorry for my english.
Note: i installed an app called Partitions Backup & Restore and my Recovery partition seems like it doesn't exist. (It doesn't show up in the list). And another app called ROM Installer showed a message saying that my Recovery and Boot partitions can't be found.
