[Q] [Help] Back and Menu buttons don't respond - Galaxy S III Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all
I have just received my s3 mini and have rooted and installed TWRP.
There seems to be a problem with the back and menu buttons. Sometimes they stop responding. Only solution is to reboot. Has anyone experienced this, is my unit faulty? This has never happened to my Note 2, S3, and S2.

It happens to me sometimes, but only after boot. Locking+unlocking the device solves it

Yeah, i got the same problem. Also just once after boot.
There is no need to reboot your phone. Try to lock and unlock your phone like darilob said.

Yeah, wait for 3-4min for the system to settle down and then unlock - lock and again unlock the phone. Should be fine after that.

It happens only when you reboot from recovery.

I never installed anything buddy turned it of last night before i went to sleep woke up played a game then went to work now i have this problem

That's a known problem with the totally unstable P1010. The only thing that helps temporarily is to completely reset the damned thing.
The best you can do is to return this crappy pad. The hardware is good the software is completely buggy and the Samsung support is completely clueless.
try button savior from market if you don't want to factory reset

Try this, be shure that you are using the default launcher, put the usb in KIES conection mode, connect to KIES on the PC, disconect from KIES and restar the device.
The home button should work after this. It seems to be a common problem in the P1010, a lot of people are reporting this problem, and I have suffered my self.
For a lot of people the Kies fix works, so try it before a factory reset.
After 4 weeks getting repaired I asked for my money back and got a 7510 much better thanks for the help guys

Help Please

Hi All,
I wonder if you can help me.
I was using my phone like usual last night, when all of a sudden it rebooted and went into something called Safe Mode.
I immediately turned the phone and rebooted it manually to find that all of my widgets had gone and my app drawer had been rearranged it is almost as though the phone had reset itself.
Can anyone tell me why this happened? Do I have a fault?
Any help appreciated.
Cheers
Neil

To me it sounds more of a software fault then hardware and if it was me id do a factory reset and wipe everything clean and install your apps one at a time
Also did you have any antivirus software installed I once before many moons ago had problems with antivirus software
sounds like an app crashed and caused it rather than it being a hardware fault, what rom are you using?
Hi Guys,
Thanks for the replies.
I'm using the stock rom ... in fact everything is stock.
Yes I am using antivirus software, NQ Security.
Is it possible that this is causing my problem?

GT-P1000 suddenly switching off. Must be some sort of hardware battery controller problem. Had the same issue until yesterday. Openned the tab and disconnected battery as per youtube video. Connected it back after several minutes. Now problem is gone and tab is functioning perfectly.
Best regards from Russia.

Hardware Issue?

Hello guy im facing a trouble!
My Galaxy Mini S5570 is having issues with 2 buttons:
- 1st is: The Power On/Off is not working, the phone turn on itself alone (when removed the battery).
- 2nd is: The Volume Up is very sensible like touch screen, you need to be careful when you use the phone because if u don't u accidently touch (not press) the Volume key then the volume up alone.
And another trouble (result of button issue) is:
When my phone power up (itself) sometimes this screen appears
(see attachment)
Maybe fixing the buttons this error disappear?
And what i have to do!? Please help guys i'm getting crazy with this phone
EDIT: i already flashed another stock rom, downgraded to 2.3.4, used custom rom and nothing, is really hardware problem.
Thanks guys!

Wake Up Lag? Is there a fix?

Whenever I try to turn on my screen, it takes a second or two to turn on. It seems like it sleeps and then wakes up.
I want to know if there's a fix for it. I'm on MJ5 firmware if that matters.
I have the same issue! I tried factory reset 3 times but still the same...... The weird thing is its not all the time.... I have also had the issue of no screen timeout but rebooting fixes that issue! When I was on ml1 DE LA Vega root I had none of these issue! I should have stayed on that.......

i hope they fix it with the next update
although theres wake up lag, the phone doesnt lag at all
Note 10.1 has same issue.

With the note 2 I had always heard the lag was related the the exynos going into such a deep sleep that it had to literally wake everything back up. Obviously that claim was bull**** lol

My screen wakes up instantly. Are you using your home button to wake the screen? If so, the problem is S-Voice. The solution is to disable "use home button to launch s-voice". To do this, double tap the home button/menu button/settings/disable home button.

Mine is also instant. is there something wrong with your hardware? might want to go exchange it, you should have a year warranty.
There is nothing wrong with my hardware.... When I was on ml1 it's was instant now on mj5 every once in a while it lags to wake up!
