Getting Experia TL but I'm on T-Mobile need help - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

I have a LG Optimus L9 P769. I love this phone its very thin, nice IPS screen, but lacks development. The CM10 thread is dead and the guy who is trying to port it over seem to just have quit and started a new project. I am trying to sell the phone and now I have my eyes set on the US Sony Xperia TL James Bond, but its for AT&T only.
Now maybe this question has been answered before so please don't flame on me for not looking and searching around. I've tried and found nothing.
Do I need to buy an unlock code to make this phone work over to T-Mobile? Or has anyone unlocked it for any gsm networks.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Please read the rules, you cannot bump a thread within 24 hours.
I imagine this has had little answers because there are a quite a few threads on it already, and they have few answers because SIM unlocking its a paid for service and not development

I apologize I did not know. I managed to unlock some devices like the HTC Vivid via "Wire Trick" and Samsung Galaxy SII. All phones are not created equal I know, but maybe someone has done it.

The T and TX have been released in a number of countries/regions but not all at the moment so you may be one of the unlucky ones.
As for development being poor, you're not the first person to say this and won't be the last, however you all seem to miss the point that the phone has only recently been launched and we already have a number of Elite Recognized and Recognized Developers that have started work on it. As far as time to develop goes, I think the take up on this has been pretty impressive and too many people's expectations have become clouded by being on phones which have been out for some time where every kid and his dog is developing (zipping) a ROM for it. CM10 for example was available within about a week and development on it has surpassed other devices which have been out for a lot longer. Anyway there's a discussion about the level of development in the General section.

Leaving Sony for good

I have had all major Sony phones over the last few years starting with the x10, Ray, arc s, xperia s and now the T
I have decided to get a Samsung S3 and switch aligance to Samsung the slow development and Sony support being the main reason

Don't blame you, the T is a good device but loads of carriers lock down the bootloader, I can't unlock mine so development is limited for people like us, kinda sucks, I was debating between the S3 and T, may have made the wrong decision but hopefully an unofficial unlock will come our way
Even with the bootloader unlocked there is t much to flash or developing

Good luck pal, do what suites you the best. I moved to Nexus 4 and now I am back. Actually I found out that I like moderate development and not so many that you can't choose from anymore.
Sony has been having this issue but I haven't found a real replacement in terms of design. SG III is nice (not my taste)
I love Sony design it's just the development is so poor and the updates so slow

Funny because I went the other way, for now at least because I get bored easily and my 8 phones demonstrate that. The funny thing is that I'm using a Sony theme on my Nexus.
Have to say it's great getting the latest software with the Nexus after feeling quite burnt by Sony and HTC.
Dont blame sony for the lack of development.
If you want to see more development why dont you try doing some yourself. Everyone on this site does it for free, we dont owe you anything. It would be nice to see people who complain about the lack of something actually trying it themselves.
Do you think the devs (And others like me who dip our toes into it) were born knowing this stuff? No, we learned it as we went along by trying stuff and sharing things that worked....its all a learning curve

Did I say anyone owed me?
I did miui Roms for the ray themes for arc and x10
Wind your neck in son it's people like you that get on my nerves I never had a go at anyone or expected anything so just because you comment on nearly every post you think you can have a pop at me? I am not complaining merely stating a fact development is slow and while people like you think you have a go at people like me more people will not bother with the forum and change phones like I am

My post was polite, no need for me to wind my neck in.
If you developed in the past you should understand how your comments come across. Also, your knowledge would help develop some MIUI roms for the T (Is there one yet?) maybe thats an opportunity for some extra development.
Regards,
Greg

Maybe and apologise it felt like an attack
Yeah I see how my comments could be took but recently there was a big think made by some of the old x10 guys about this phone and it's development I thought there would have been more
My phone is going Friday so no chance for me to get a miui rom done
Sorry again

No problems.
Maybe this thread caught me at a bad point as I have just been speaking to a user via PM who is (How can i say it?) less than thankfull to me for my input to helping him out personally.
Anyway, I too had an x10 and there was great expectation for the development here that I will admit does seem slow. (Not heard anything from Adam Outler since his thread about getting the T)
I didnt mean to attack, so apology accepted and no hard feelings. Enjoy your new phone and if you ever come back it will be nice to see a MIUI rom here.
I had a x10, a Arc. Have a Xperia P & a T.
Always been happy with SE & Sony, they make very good quality phones. But were slow with development of Android updates. Had several Samsungs. Imho SGS 3 is a cheap large plastic piece. But thats my personal opinion. l had one & sold it. The SGS 4 Iooks promising. I hope you'll enjoy it. Wish you the best.

I can port MIUI if need be.lol.we have fully functional CM so its easy.problem is i dont want to unlock my TL-rex and i dont even know if it can be unlocked or not
PS:in fact any advanced user (not developer as iam not really a dev )can do it.if anyone is interested i can point to right guides
The development thread looks like a Rom grave yard so many roms unfinished and now people will be jumping to the Z most won't get finished
Shame I thought the bond phone would have more interest in it than it has had
Sent from my LT30p using xda premium
Tell you what.. with Sony being so open about sharing source code and all drivers, it won't be too long before there's an infusion of devs from Sammy devices. Maybe the Z, maybe the next flagship, but I think some will make the transition as more quality phones come out.
Oh no! Another rant thread.
Sony's update is relatively fast. Samsung only updated its flagships. What about the others? Think of the big picture before shooting.

I have known you guys since the x10 days... The x10 community was huge compared to any other Xperia community...
What I would say is that everyone has their own preferences... Chiefy is a flash-o-holic... So probably it's Best that you get a device like the Nexus 4...
As for others it's totally upto you as to what you want...
Also please don't start fighting... It's more of misunderstanding than anything else...

wow..... you really went from Sony to cheap plastic?
good luck.
Funny I went the other way. In my s3, kept flashing roms after a week
Here on tx, I just rooted and found the stock ics rom much 10x better than jelly bean in s3.
There's not much to improve with the stock rom. And thats a fact

How easy is it to root the Xperia Z?

As the thread title suggests, How easy is it to root the Xperia Z?
i'm thinking of rooting, but I've never done it before and don't know where to start looking.
thanks
How hard is it to post in the Xperia Z Forum?
I wouldn't know how hard it is, I advise asking it again in the Xperia Z forum, or google it. We don't know much about Xperia Z rooting over here in the HTC One forum.

Sorry but this is a HTC One section you will find the correct section by searching for Sony Xperia Z!
This is getting amusing. I keep coming here to see how many incorrect posts there are more than I come here for info about the new phone!

Piece of piss Quite easy really, plant it in the ground, give it a good watering (it won't get damaged, it is waterproof after all), then leave it buried for 6 months and it should be rooted by then.

[Q] unlock xperia T problem

hello guys,
i'm new here and on android phones so i'm writing to all of you to help me. after many years with iphones i decided to take an android phone in my hands. before some days i bought a used Xperia T locked to T-mobile UK. i checked it and i found out that is LOCKED, all numbers in service menu are zero-0. what do you thing that i must do? what are the solutions to unlock my phone?
Read the all in one thread.
Then tell us, do you want to SIM unlock, if you do then that is a paid for service not available on xda, or do you want to unlock the bootloader in order to root the phone (jail break) if so Read the all in one thread for instructions.
Its the first thread in the Q And A section, just where this post should be.
Edit
Why have you made two threads for this question?
Please don't answer here, because this is the general section and question and answers should be in the question and answer section, in your other thread you started

What a waste these forums have become

I am really disappointed with XDA and all the forums. What a waste of time they have become. They were created to help each other and share knowledge etc,but nowadays there simply is none of that whatsoever. It really doesnt matter what device you own,the experience is exactly the same for every forum. Nobody is interested in helping anyone anymore. Take this Nokia 1 forum as an example. I myself have posted a few times asking for help and advice etc with regards to issues etc i am experiencing with my moms Nokia and nobody ever bothers to reply or try to help. What a shame and a waste XDA has become.
Mate, you got the cheapest phone around with low specs and locked bootloader with no unlock option (officially) so don't except much.
It's like you've got the old car and get angry to the Manufacturer because price for checkup is way higher. Nokia 1 is low-tier device and not many people got it.
If you want "help each other and share knowledge etc" get a better device.

Please do us both a favour and actually read a post before you comment. Firstly,i am not your mate. My name is Tracey, that means a lady or female. Secondly,my own device is an Xperia XZ2, the Nokia is my moms phone,a woman in her 60's so she does'nt need more than she has. What she however does not need,is all the issues the Nokia had been giving her since updating it to Android 10 and then not having any after sales support from the manufacturer and also nobody really bothered to help on "help" forums created for that very reason. Helping others and sharing.
