Best ROM + Kernel for battery life - LG Optimus 2x

Hey XDA,
My battery life is completely terrible, I get around 2 hours with screen on and down to around 50% after 5 hours on deepsleep standby.
I'm using the Opticthrust ROM and Kowalski kernel. What's the best combination for battery life? Prefeberly JB but ICS is fine.
Thanks,
ZePotatox

How old is your battery?
Are you using the newest Optithrust? I'm pretty sure it gives decent battery life to other users.
Try recalibrating your batter and charge it to full. - Turn it off, remove battery, put battery back, plug in charger, wait for a battery charging animation to appear, turn your phone on. Check if this make any changes.
As for ROM im using, Im using the one from Civato CivZ_FLEX-ICER rev4.5 and his latest kernel. I can get to 2 days easy.
Moderate use - texts and few calls, no games, wifi sometimes, only on 2g network.

Rom: cm10 by pengus77 newbl
kernel: kowalski exp-112
@1300Mhz
Governer: ondemand
io:row
Screen time:3h
Mostly used for gaming n web browsing on mobile data...no wifi

AW: Best ROM + Kernel for battery life
when i am using my phone rarely, i get 2 days out of one charge. cm10.1 + latest kowalski kernel.
tip for battery saving, disable location services!

With rom optithrust I've always had a weird problem with the battery. the evening off the phone and in the morning I found myself with 30-40% less battery. Maybe you have the same problem when my deep sleep.
Try the advice of puffingman or change rom. I am with Pacman 4.2.2 and the battery does not give me problems. Statistics for my battery has almost two years.

you can take all the inputs...but it is good to ask the Moderator to close this thread....as Best ROM threads are not permitted in XDA forum.
Thanks for the understanding
Note: if you are interested, I use dual boot....with OptiThrust and DM...both stock based ROMs....I get atleast one day and a half in both of these ROMs when activated.

There is no such thing as best ROM and kernel. Go to development section and choose your combo.

I just don't understand. Cm7 tiamat 1.1.4 smartass v2 newest radio and matching ril, no wifi and background data turned completely off. This is significantly worse than any other rom including stock. Any ideas?

Charge to 100 percent then delete battery stats.
See if that helps.
It's the best rom for battery for all others i've talked to

I've calibrated the battery twice since installing CM7 in the past 4 days. I am even underclocking with Incredicontrol at -75, but to no avail.
HMM Android system is chewing through battery.
I'm not really sure why.

Ooh God no...
Mine isn't even in the list.
I don't know if it will help as I just downloaded it today but this app https://market.android.com/details?id=com.freeb.automm seems like it should help battery life because you can customize how much memory goes to background applications.

@Scoobysnacks Are you using Cynogenmod or MIUI? I'm on MIUI and found that Android System and Call Standby always seem to be listed in at the top of the battery use processes (much more than Display). Whereas for Sense ROMs, Display is almost always at the top.
try a modified kernel , like tiamat
Oops sorry didnt see you already using it. Make sur you use 1.1.4 and not .5 because that kernel has battery problems you could try stock cm7 kernel as well

same here, android system 40%, standby 36%.
im on miui.us 1.11.4 and tiamat 1.1.5
Currently Mobile standby 47% and phone idle 45% for me. Android system not in the list.
CM7.1 and Tiamat 1.1.5, so it can't be the kernel or the ROM. Did you do a full wipe?
Try running logcat on the phone and seeing what messages are in there, something seems to be keeping the phone awake a lot judging by the blue stripes below your graph.

CM7 battery drain

Helli guys I slept for 10 hours I left the phone 100% battery now I found it 15 without any using Im using cm7 29/7 nightly with modded huexx 4.0 kernel

Is it a recent problem? due to a new install of CM7?
Check with Cpuspy if the phone enters in deepsleep.
Your plot shows a weak phone signal for some hours but this does not seem to be the cause of the drain. The slope is quiet constant over the time.
Do you have an app running in background?
Philippe
I recommend using the original kernel of CM7 to not have high battery consumption.
Also recommend using the CM Stable because the Nightlys always use a lot of battery.
I use Cm7 Stable with the following tweaks in build.prop to help save battery.
# Save battery
wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=180
pm.sleep_mode=1
ro.ril.disable.power.collapse=0
ro.sf.lcd_density=240
ro.sf.hw_lcd_density=240
ro.kernel.android.checkjni=0
Hope helped you.
Hugs! :silly:
Cm7 original kernel has freezes and sods and this kernel is better although in the gps but the battery was good after i installed it for the first time then battery get worse by time i installed cm9 ultrasound 3 for testing and then get back to the cm7 by nandroid backup then the drain started
When i installed it for the first time it took 0% dor 10 hours of deep sleep next night it took 5% third night it took 10% fourth night it took 15 don't know why

Perhaps you should clear the battery stats ... I don't know if the NANDROID restore the batttery stats.

Strange. If it was app we would see some wacklocks. But there's none. Do nadroid backup and check on stock if the same happens. This could be hardware failure.
No not on the stock only with same cm7 I'm using now first the battery was very very very good but now no let me clear battery status and see If we can do some things
Sent from my LG-P970 using xda app-developers app
without using it only can stay for 10 hours only why????
Zeus can stand for 2% per all night but cm7 powers off after 10 hours
Zeus' battery drain
In my opinion is the battery consumption of Zeus very high, especially when the screen is on!

Try SetCPU and set it to maximum 800MHz
The Best way is flash kernel and custom rom
Just flash the HydraCore 0.7 kernel and set SetCPU to 1.2Ghz with pegasusq governor. Also make a profile for when the screen is off to 500mhz Max. I get around 10 hours of heavy usage daily. And well over 14 hours of normal usage.

Not that it matters though but I just root my phone, take those bloatwares off *using TB and install 2 apps for my battery saving thing.... - Android Assistant and battery Saver (both in google play), one as a tasker to turn off all apps that runs everytime I reboot my phone, and the other to set the maximum battery profile on what I just need my phone to use on to. Average, I get about 2 days max on my phone(with SpeedMod as well).. eg. Email and data on. I get to set my profile to turn off my wifi everytime I leave the house and turn it on again when I come home at night. Screen brightness at 20% and not using any LWP at all. Just normal static ones.
P.S. ROMS matter as well, stock ICS drains pretty much, that's what I can say.. I'm using Chrack's final one and yeah.. never been this satisfied and contented as before. That's all I can say....

Experimental Battery usage with JB Roms

Would like to ask any and all JB rom users to post any and all usage with screen shots, using Battery saver or no battery saver and witch Rom you mighty be using....just basically a referance to see what Roms are using the most batt and if you are using a batt saver, compared to the ICS roms with their usage on batt performance....
Currently I'm running the PacMan version 1214 Jelly Bean on my Vivid, the battery life actually is a lot better than it was when I was running the stock att rom. Usually under light usage (some Facebook, Amazon MP3, about 200 texts), I had enough juice to last about 19 hours before I needed to charge. I don't use battery saver or anything like that, I'd post a screenshot of my battery stats, but for some reason the stats aren't available. I'll tinker with it a little and see if I can get a screenshot of it.
Don't have pictures for ya, but 12–14 hours with normal usage. 4 hours plus screen on time. It's worse than wcx, but better than stock.

My battery seems to last the same, during normal usage, as ICS maybe an hour shorter, but it isn't very far from when I was using ICS
ROM
JB - Paranoid Android released on 12-20
ICS- Virtuous Inquisition
JB
The only thing that I have noticed is that the charging is really slow, approximiatly 1.5 % per hour when the phone is on standby. Powered off it jumps to 30-50% per hour. However with me being IT support I need to have my phone on as a rule.
ICS- charge in standby 20% approximately.
other notes.
during continous usage JB lasts a little longer, thus by comparison in standby it doesn't last as long.
Sorry that i dont have screen shots available, however there are the stats, if you have questions I am of course here to help.
One Power Guard. never use these type of apps but I decided to try it since battery didnt last as long with JB and i saw results
Was at work but used mobile data a bit made calls & texts and usually doesnt last this long i wou8ld have to charge when i got home

How much screen on time do you get?
Did you use it all the time before capturing that screenshot or was it idle?

I did normal usage on it, or let's say the same as any other day. Using WhatsApp mostly. My stock ROM gives me at least 19h without using stamina mode, CM give me a good day from a new installation, but after day two I get this battery drain.

The next time it happens, take a screenshot like this, a screenshot of the graph when you first get into battery usage...and also take a screenshot of your screen on time (you get to it by tapping on "screen" in battery usage tab). Because if you get around 3:45 - 4:30 hours of screen on time, it's not bad battery life but actually maximum of what our phone can get.
