4.2 JB Notification bar - Galaxy S Advance I9070 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As i am a fan of 4.2 notification bar.
cant we port 4.2 notification bar...???
like this below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1999125
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1992084
as i tried other apps like quick settings , control panel & many more and they dont replace permanently our notification bar..
and lot battery consuming i found out... as JB is battery drinker(dracula)..
i dont see a choice for 4.2 notification bar.

I think is very hard to get to work those apks on our device. Many devs tried to port other apps like dialer and contacts, or photosphere and failed. We need more clues to port apps from other devices. I think the novathor SoC is the guilty in this crime

looks really nice that notifications bar

Notification bar wanted for Aria

I've tried the roadsms app on my Aria. It works but due to the size of the screen I'm missing 1/4 of the keyboard. So I know these apk's can cross builds. Could some kind member post the apk to the Captivate's notification bar? I don't know if it would work on Sense UI, but its worth a try! The Galaxy notification is sooooo much better than any other build. I mean, come on this is how it should be. Wifi, bluetooth and gps control is right there!!!
Anyways, someone whos rooted can you rip the xda-community your apk?
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
Here's the framework-res.apk file from my Captivate, which contains the notification bar AFAIK. FYI our doesn't have a GPS toggle though, just wifi/bluetooth/silent/vibrate.
I'm still somewhat new to android so I'm unsure of how you'd get this working on your Aria though. Good luck

Edit:Or maybe you'd need twframework-res.apk? http://www.mediafire.com/?4yter4knnfl1s28
Installing a different notification bar is not an easy process.
There's a whole lot of system-specific things going on with it, so moving the TouchWiz bar to a Sense phone will fail, and hard, perhaps to the point of preventing you from even booting, without some serious modifications to the framework-res.

[Q] flash buil.prop through CWM ?

Hi, is it possible to flash buil.prop through CWM ? The idea is I would like to play with the DPI, but I know some values can mess up the system so that the ROM doesn't boot anymore. So the idea is to have a safe and working build.prop as flashable through VWM so that I can experiment without the threat of having to reinstall the whole ROM.
Is that doable ? and would it be sufficient to boot again on a ROM if I put a bad value as DPI ?
Thanks
I may be wrong, but afair one of the DPI apps available on Market, had an option whether to reapply the change on boot
if I'm correct, then you could test the density without risk

I didn't find the app (searched for "DPI" and "density") but one of the app had a description saying you can restore build.pro through adb...so i'll look in that direction.
LCD density will allow you to test a dpi before applying it. Its on play store.

Well, it almost works. I'm on (TW based) Criskelo's v8, changed the DPI to 213, first with LCD density and then with ROM toolbox. I thought it would just boot loop, but
- except for touchwiz, launchers (Go, zeam, adw, apex (small area usuable on desktop though, but maybe it's supposed to work that way)) are ok,
- the s-apps I want work ok : camera, FM radio (I tried S-memo just for the sake of it, it has that well known lines problem)
- s-calendar was replaced by AOSP calendar and it works fine..though I don't see any difference with phone version...maybe because it was not "correctly" installed ?
- gmail, settings, kindle, chrome work as expected in tablet mode. Kindle had to get an update to work in tablet mode, before that it showed the regular phone version.
Now what doesn't work :
- I got that "UI.syst stopped" on every boot (don't care much about it)
- s-contacts doesn't work ! unfortunately I couldn't find a working AOSP contacts.apk, maybe that would work
- s-phone works so that's more important than s-contacts, but the layout is messed up, and you can't use contacts inside the app of course. Unfortunately I don't know of a AOSP dialer for TW roms,
- most annoying negative point to me : status bar doesn't show ! that may be the deal breaker for me.
I went to TW roms because I was tired of little things that didn't work in AOSP based roms, so if I can't find solutions for at least s-contacts and status bar, that's it for me I won't go any further in my quest of TW + tablet mode apps.

For the dialler, can you set one handed operation in settings (possibly under accessibility) that usually brings it back under operational state. Not sure about a fix for tw contacts though. There are alternative contacts and dialler apps in play store if you search dialler.
Use an alternative launcher for status bar? Recommend adw or launcher7 if you like windows phone layout, both work well. Adw probably more suitable for tablet dpi.

Unfortunately I tried an alternative dialer from the market, it displayed contacts correctly but FC'd as soon as I clicked on a contact, so I think it relies somehow on the TW contact app or framework. As for the status bar, it's never displayed whatever launcher I tried (Go, adw, zeam, apex, launcher pro), so I guess it's part of the framework and not of the launcher.

JB 4.2 quick setting on 4.1.2

Hey,
I don't really need a lot of the features in 4.2 that much, but I'd like the quick setting thing. Can someone port that to 4.1.2?
Or even easier, can someone explain how I can build JUST the SystemUI apk from the android repo, and not the whole thing, so I can try to do that myself?
Thanks
There are so many good toggles apps out there (that is if you're not using a custom rom that already has it built in).
why would you like an extra page with settings that arent even quick ...they are just shortcuts ...
sure i tested knzo's and thedarkdude's 4.2 port and the page turn effect is eye catchy... but i see no meaning to it per all.
Ps: iamthedarkone is his name . A am aware of that .

I like the look of the quick "settings" thing on 4.2. Also, if I knew how to build just the SystemUI, maybe I'd be able to make them actual quick setting, instead of what they are now. I do have notification toggles through an app, but I'm not really fond of having a used notification spot just for that. that's why I'd rather have the 4.2 thing.
I use it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=apocalipsisx.controlpanel

thanks, but that still requires a notification spot, and it feels as bit sluggish. I currently use Power Toggles.

Good mornung sir. If you are feeling limber and wanting to program. There is a stock guide to porting 4,2 quick settings panel by bootmgr and spacecaker its pretty easy. I am currently porting it over along with lidroid toggles. The only thing is you gotta add your own toggles

[Q] STOCK ICS - Status Bar lag.

Welcome.
I have a question for you.
Well, I have your P7310 stock ics and I have a little problem.
Well, on the desktop and drawer status bar just lags - lack of liquidity.
Complete declines animation.
In any other application running smoothly just a launcher lag.
Do you also have such problems.
Is there any possibility of swapping statusbar from another rom eg AOSP CM10.1?
The easiest thing to try would be a different launcher. I like Holo HD, but there are other good ones too. You can try replacing the SystemUI.apk, but you need to replace two libraries as well. AAccount posted them in one of his threads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38088583&postcount=1135
You will need root access, and a root browser type app, and this may make your system unstable, so I would recommend installing a custom recovery and making a nandroid backup first.
Of course I have tried other launcher.
Only in Nova Launcher it a little better:
Desktop - the status bar work really bad
Drawer - the status bar work perfetct
Only issue with desktop :/
Tried to replace the files that are above?
This helped to something.
And one more thing.
What is the exact path of the files.
All I know is that you must put the SystemUI.apk to system / app
And the rest of the files do not know where to move.
I would ask for a little help.
I have a custom recovery, backup made so I am calm.
Now, the question is not about.
I was happy to at CM10.1 RC2 but unfortunately it seems STOCK ICS is faster as can be seen in games.
Is throwing another kernel to be something CM10.1 helped performance in games, etc.
Sorry for bad english
You could try to change animation speed in developers options, and/or you could try Addem1234's CM9-ROM (with AA's 1.8.7-kernel).
I believe they go in system/framework.
I have had no problems with lag with CM10.1 and it's default kernel, even in games. I just had to use extended desktop to hide the nav bar and set the status bar to autohide. In addition, I overclocked and made various memory tweaks, as well as installed crossbreeder. Finally, I don't use the persistent search bar, but I add the widget separately to all of my screens. Each of these things may have helped a little or not at all, but all together, they give me a system with which I am very happy.
I used all these same settings on cm9, and I see little to no difference.
Addem1234 cm-9 is faster than CM10.1 C-o-M ?

Last time I tried: Yes.

I think they are pretty comparable when I get them set up properly. CM9 is starting from a faster place, I will grant that. In a fully optimized configuration, I am hard pressed to see a significant difference.

[Q] Is it possible to set your homescreen up like this?

I found this picture on stuff.tv and after digging through everything I can possibly find to use to customize my homescreen on Android Lollipop, I'm honestly not sure if there's anything that lets you change the status bar and soft keys in this particular way.
http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/st...lic/news/android-theme-main.jpg?itok=GSVbQLQm
So is it a mock-up? Or is there actually something like this out there? Anyone have a clue?
My apologies if this is the wrong forum for this, I'm not sure where else it would fall under
That's possible, I've been out of the game for too long now so there's probably newer easier ways that I know nothing about but it looks like tablet mode on paranoid android rom to get the bottom status bar with the rest built using something like Zooper or klwp etc etc
Am I showing my age mentioning pa or is it still going?
