I hardly belive it is fault of my unit.
I spoted it with original firmware and now ater unlock, root and revolution 2.2 (basicaly same firmware with modifications i like )
Actually i think Sony's devices get that issue. And that is because of the app is not compatible with the rom.
My solution: turn off the lock screen!

I don't think is the low battery mode, I don't have it turn on and it still have the problem, I think it is when the phone get some notifications or go to internet for data then the phone with get activated but it does not go back to total sleep mode.....
low battery mode for me. I've got it set at 15% and when it charged back to that amount the backlight turns on.
Just a glitch for me and a waiting firmware update.

Any ideas of what is up with my mates phone please?
Also when it is on charge the orange charging indicator comes on but not the screen?
He said it randomly shut off on mid text
Thanks
a drained battery. when the battery is dead on my phone, it displays the same behaviour (red led, vibrates once and doesn't power on).
the orange led is normal when charging. when charging from power-off state, screen will stay off till you turn it on.
tell your friend to fully change the battery

I thought this too mate, I have left it on charge for a bit and then turned it off and it does the same although this time, the buttons at the bottom have decided to light up?
i'm not sure then. maybe a faulty battery? just a wild guess. has he tried a factory reset? is the phone rooted?

The phone isn't rooted, any idea of how to factory reset without being able to see the screen?
The phone works as normal, eg the volume rocker works and the turn on sound, and button lights, but not the screen? :s faulty screen connection maybe?

oops, hit the thanks button by accident
faulty screen sounds like a possibility. i don't know how you would be able to do anything if the screen is not working.

Ok, so i have an issue that i havent been able to find any information on. I woke up this morning, and noticed that when i pressed the back or menu button, there was no longer any kind of haptic feedback. The buttons functioned as they were supposed to, but didnt vibrate. I double checked the option for it, then disabled and re-enabled it. That didnt work, so i restarted the phone and it still didnt function.
I ended up doing a full restore and they began working. So, i haven't installed any apps or anything assuming maybe it was an app that caused the issue. I went pretty much all day and it was fine, i got home from work and all of the sudden it stopped functioning again. I just did another restore and its back. This seems more like a software issue as if it was hardware i wouldnt think the keys would work at all, and the haptic feedback works when using the keyboard and such. Has anyone else seen this issue?
BTW my phone is rooted, but i havent done anything else to it.
What was your battery level? If you have Power Saver turned on, it will turn off haptic feedback.

I was just gonna say the same thing. Power saving mode on all Samsung Galaxy devices turns off Haptic feedback completely. And if your a person who is used to haptic feedback it can feel weird when it's off. Pull down your status bar and make sure it's power saving mode is off.
I appreciate the suggestions, but this was on a completely full battery, it had charged all night. The second time it happened it was at about 65%.

Awesome! This fixed my haptic problem and weird screen dim and contrast issue. I guess PSM some how had gotten stuck on for me, although I was charged above the threshold.
It doesn't automatically turn off when you're charged. Annoying as hell.
You should change your thread title to solved.

No, I shouldn't. My problem isn't solved. I clearly stated that my issue hasn't been caused due to a battery issue. I've been fully charged. I've restarted. The only way I've been able to get it back is by a full restore. The issue occurred one more time over the weekend and it's irritating. I went to the store and they aren't wanting to help and telling me if I exchange it when they aren't seeing a problem I'll get charged the restock fee. I'll be calling support tonight I guess.

Did you turn off power saving mode after it turned itself on when your battery died down and was then recharged?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Mine was like you.
go to power saving menu and uncheck the heptic feedback check mark off.
BINGO!
years later, i've found a solution - haptic feedback intensity was turned all the way down, even with the checkbox marked, no haptic feedback is felt at that level.
how it got turned down to zero, i'll never know.
Settings > Sounds and Notifications > Vibration Intensity > Haptic Feedback Slider
...i almost warrantied my phone over this issue...
Hey so let me start off by saying that I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 but I had this problem. I was with a friend and ended up turning on my ultra power saving mode. After that my soft keys stopped lighting up and the haptic feedback stopped working as well. Something small, but extremely annoying. I couldn't find ANYTHING on the infinite labyrinth that is the Internet for some unknown reason and I was straining not to throw my phone out of the car.
However, I've just now been able to finally figure it out and so I'm hoping this post will help with that urge to snap you're smart phone. Anyways I remembered that before ultra power saving mode I had put it at the regular power saving mode. I tried turning UPSM on and off again, I restarted my phone countless times, anything else you can think of it tried. BUT what ended up finally working is turning power saving mode on, giving it a second, and then turning it off.
Hopefully that works for you too.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I've been trying to figure that out for so long. I wasn't sure because it happened on multiple roms. This time haptic feedback turns off with battery saver mode. I usually have power save on our phones don't lack performance on it. Wish I could enable haptic feedback with it on. This was the first result on Google. Thanks bro!

I have a similar problem. After I have replaced the Mainboard, the back key lose the vibration feedback. Only the back key.... Any ideas?
Had this phone for 3 weeks now, just turned the screen on, unlocked the lock screen, then the screen glitched, then the phone turned itself off! Tried to power on again via the power button, but nothing. Had to hold up volume and power button together, phone vibrated. Tried turning on via power button & worked.
Anyone else had this problem?
I'm just hoping it was a one off.

I've had it happen twice, but both times were while I was sleeping so I didn't see the screen. But same thing when I woke up: phone was off and wouldn't turn on without force rebooting with the power and volume up.
Sucks when your alarm doesn't go off because your phone decides to freak out

Hey guys, I just updated my C6903 to 14.1.G.2.257 last night, I have an Australian stock model.
I noticed this problem yesterday, but if I press the power button to turn on screen it takes about 2-3 seconds for it to turn on. This is consistent behaviour, happens all the time except for when the screen is turned on around 5 seconds from the last turn off.
I have turned stamina mode on and off, auto brightness on and off, and it didn't seem to do anything. I have also done a factory reset too and the problem is still there.
Anyone else experiencing this?
I haven't seen this problem but you might want to try a factory reset.

I did that and the problem persisted.
However it seems like I might have solved it... the problem is now reduced a lot - it turns on immediately most of the time. I have a feeling this might be tied to the temperature of the phone, as yesterday and today I was setting up/playing with camera, etc.
Will continue testing and see what happens.

Similar issue. I had this on my galaxy note 2 as well. It turned out there that it was just a thing with exynos 4 quad where it took a little bit to get out of deep sleep. I assumed it's a similar thing with the snapdragon 800, but maybe it's actually a bug. It would be nice if it were.

ah okay.. in my case i wanted to turn it on (from stand-by) and it didn't react. or actually the screen was very low-lighted black. after i push the 2nd time the power button the screen is completely black and the 3rd time i press it it works fine. not that bad but sometimes really annoying
Same case with me many times and thats annoying

yes, but i'd like to know, where exactly this problem comes from? if it is a problem in the system couldn't there be developed any tweak or similar?
It is a bug in the software. It does wakeup the phone and i am able to enter my patern to unlock it but i cant see it. After i turn my screen off and back on again it works normal. This happens only after a very very long time of deepsleep. However my screen turns on when my alarm goes off at 7:30 am
so far I can confirm this is a bug on sony's stock rom, as I have tried MIUI & CM 10.1, and right now using CM 10.2, the problem doesn't arise. the screen unlocks perfectly normal.

yes that bug is still there, although it isn't that frequent so not a major problem, it can be annoying ...
goes away if hit the power button again to turn the screen off and again to turn it on to the lock screen.
hopefully it'll be fixed in the next update.

True that!... I do face this some times.. the screen lights up but its black...
need to press the power button again so that it gets locked and wake it back to normal pressing the power button again...its annoying.!
