BOOTSTRAP - Motorola Droid 3

Hi all,
Just got a Droid3 for my work phone. I'm rooted and I've installed RomManager but after installing CWM I am not able to reboot into recovery. Further research indicates I need a bootstrap application. Does anyone have one they could post a link to? All the links I am finding are dead.
THanks

yes you need bootstrap if you want to use ROM manager
most just use safestrap and skip ROM manager

Wow, safestrap is slick. Thanks for the tip on that.
The virtual rom slots are new to me. How is the performance when running a rom from one?
Thanks again!

Performance is really great, no noticable performance reduction. Go for it  :good:

right, any loss in performance, is minimal
the multiple slots makes trying a new rom very easy
just note, cm10.1 and newer AOKP roms must be on slot 1
and hash should be releasing roms with the new kernel, any day now

Guys you may want to hold off for the latest kernel to roll into the builds (or I'll start putting out some test builds once its ready for D3 usage).
No camera function yet. But .. wow.

I'm afraid I disagree. Safestrap mounts .img files as loop devices, which, as I understand and based on my own experience, is slower than mounting an actually disk partition. I was previously running minimoto on Safestrap and while I found it faster than anything else out there, I find it even faster when is flashed to the actual system partition. I have some bootstraps on my computer of you are still interested OP

[Tweak] Universal adrenaline shot

Going to try this on the D3, its big in the fascinate world. May be worth a dev porting to the D3 specifically. I'm going to take the plunge though since we can do nandbackups.

From the thread post:
Whats inside:
changed partition mounts--- for less data corruption
patched sqlite's----IMPROVES I/O
honecomb 3.1 fugu mod-IMPROVES SCROLLING/RESPONSIVENESS
All new init.d files---PARTITION MOUNTS,CACHE,SYSCTL,KERNEL
Sysctl.conf----TWEAKS KERNEL AND I/O SCHEDULER
tweaked scaling governor----faster cpu performance
It has been reported to work on the Motorola Atrix, so that gives me hope for some additional improvements on the D3.

I looked throught the zip. It contains some files that the D3 doesnt have (or are in a different location). So some of the changes will probably do nothing.
Check out the newest from Hashcode. You can now restore from BP Tools. No need to flash and restore

Did you do anything with the sysctl.conf and init.d?
Sorry for the delays... yes, as stated above, the zip files will not flash to the D3 (even though they do flash to the Moto Atrix??).
But you can definitely rip out files push them with Root Explorer or ADB commands. I haven't had time to mess with that but I may jump on it later today. Glad someone else tried and showed positive signs. That is encouraging.
I applied manually.
Don't notice any difference, really. But it may respond better to my finger. I'll have to run it for a few days.

I snatched the files from the latest SteelDroid to enable init.d. However I also used the scripts from that rom as well as they include alot the same tweaks.
I discovered that the sysctl.conf tweaks have no affect. We dont seem to have access to those adjustments. Perhaps because of our stock kernel?
for you, if you have a stock kernel to enable init.d .....

[Q] Non-Safestrap Custom ROMs - ICS/GB?

Since we have SBF files now, and I apologize if this is the wrong area to post, but will we be able to get an official Clockworkmod Recovery so that we can install clean ROMs without needing to use Safestrap and running dual systems?
I am willing to test any developments on my D4 given that we can now flash the SBF should it brick.
Also on a somewhat side tangent, has anyone figured out a way to mod the system to allow apps2sd naturally like on the D2/D3 instead of the "media area vs app storage area"?
Thanks in advance everyone.
I am waiting for a response for this thread as well.the safestrap method has created issues I really don't want to deal with on a regular basis. I thought maybe once the sbf were out there we would have clockwork method out there fairly quick. I appreciate all the hard work hash & others put in to problem solving etc..J am so looking forward to a clockwork option..

What issues? You could always use bootstrap, as others have said.
Personally, I really like using safestrap. Stock ROM when I need the phone to work, whatever rom I like otherwise (Though AOKP is getting pretty close to perfect now. Going to check up on CM9 soonish...)

AOCP 2.1 ICS Rom

I take no credit for this just thought it would be helpful to stimulate some development for the T mobile Galaxy note.
Id like to thank the DEV's over at AOCP for allowing me to do this write up and use of cross links. they are found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1773229 as well as tomin.fhl for some insite as well as files he is found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1837907
Again i am not a DEV and just wanted to do a write up to show it is possible.
What you will need
*ATT Galaxy Note SGH-I717 TWRP http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/96
*AOCP http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1773229
* TMobile Modem https://www.onlinefilefolder.com/3sO3MvY67FK1gR
* ICS Gapps http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
INSTRUCTONS:
1) Install the ATT version of TWRP to your tmobile note. Follow the instructions in the link to install.
2) Create a back up of your current rom which utilizes Tmobiles BOOT.IMG (Note without this back up you will have to get into Download mode and flash boot.img through odin. The file for this is here https://www.onlinefilefolder.com/3sKTF2WTt5njq0 thanks to tomin.fhl for the link.
3) Place files on phone ROM,Gapps,TMobile modem on sd card ( internal sd perferred)
4) Clear everything system, factory reset, cache (note dont clear sd card or you will lose files on your *SD YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED*
5) Flash AOCP 2.1 which is the Icecream Sandwhich build *NOT THE JELLYBEAN BUILD* after flash is finished return to home menu of TWRP
6) From TWRP menu select restore and select the rom with the tmobile boot.img ( now when asked to restore make sure that the only box checked is the BOOT box( if you restore completely you will end up with the ROM you backed up origanlly.
7) Once the boot.img is restored, flash the tmobile modem/radio this will allow you to use data ect. on the rom.
8) Flash the ICS Gapps to allow access to android market
9) Now reboot phone. (note: there is no boot animation. instead there will be just a black screen. Dont freak out and have patience and the Rom will boot up.
CONCLUSION:
what you end up with is a very stable barebones version of stock android ICS with no bloat
*Known Issues*
External Sd is not found for some reason

No problem I would love to build from scratch simply don't have the coding knowledge. That's what's great about Android someone with little experience can try to do something and learn so much in the process. Again the original devs at AOCP are the ones who deserve all credit and even donations maybe we can convince some devs to port to our notes and really get the ball rolling

Never say never.
In open source android so many times I've seen "won't never happen"
But then of dose.
Where there is a will there's a way.
If some one had asked last week could they get AoCP T-Mobile note. I would have replyed "I don't have that device so I don't intend on building for it, and have no time to do a blind port" and then it would have been stated "the devs said they got no plans to make it happen ever"
But look at this here.

I think most ICS ROMs will work, just remember to flash the T-Mobile kernel (the boot.img, also, the T-Mo radio files if the ROM includes AT&T radio) over the top or else it won't boot.
been using this rom since it was posted yesterday. so far no problems at all.
super fast and sexy. no bloat.
only thing missing of course is WIFI-CALLING but that's to be expected since it's an ATT rom.
only other thing is TMO visual voice mail which can be had from the market anyways.
excellent slimmed down rom, thanks again for posting this! :victory:
Forgot to mention that the response time is incredible. I use my phablet with Sketchbook mobile and Sketchbook pro and Sketchbook mobile is blazing. Sketchbook pro is a little slow but that's probably a hwa issue. I use that one mainly on my regular sized tablet.
Loving it.

[ROM][4.4]AOSP KitKat

Credit and Thanks
This is Android 4.4 KitKat for the MB886 Atrix HD. These are built from @dhacker, @epinter, and the rest of the razrqcom dev team's sources. All credit goes to them, I'm simply compiling the rom for the Atrix HD and sharing it with everybody else.
Warning
Before you go flashing this, be aware that it should be considered early alpha and things might not fully work. If you flash this and your phone dies, catches fire, or robs old ladies, it's on you and you've been warned.
There's also an issue with our Device Family in general where some phones just can't flash 4.4 or run it. If you're one of the unlucky one, pray that @Hashcode and @dhacker figure it out.
Info
Credits and warning out of the way, if you have a successful flash the rom works quite well and seems to be pretty stable, though I haven't done that much yet. Be aware that this doesn't have root by default, so you'll want to flash a zip to root as well.
What your're here for
Latest Deodexed Rom
Latest Odexed Rom
KitKat Rom Folder
Gapps
Odexed Gapps
Root
The gapps are PA Gapps and the root is Super SU. Credits to the PA Team and Chainfire for them.
How to enable ART
Install Odexed 4.4 and Odexed Gapps -- This is a requirement and ART only works on ODEXED ROMS....DO NOT PROCEED WITH DEODEXED
On first boot, skip entering Google username and password
Instead, go to Settings>About Phone, scroll to the bottom, and tap Build Number 7 times to enable Developer Options
Go to Developer Options>Seletc runtime and select Use ART instead of Dalvik.
After you select it it will force reboot the phone, keep that in mind so you can access recovery in time
In recovery, Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache...boot phone
That's pretty much it. Enter your Account Information and use your phone as normal....
Don't flash dumb sh!t to /system after this....
Bugs
Weak signal strength (not for all of us, but for some it's an issue)
External SD detected as read only by certain apps (Titanium Backup for example)
Hair lice (requires Nix)
Apps don't always work or install when using ART
Front Camera doesn't work
Roaches (needs tweezers and a lighter....wait, I mean Raid)
For Some, Video playback doesn't work
Plugging and/or unplugging HDMI can cause the system to freeze up -- have to hard reset to fix (hold both volumes+power for 10 seconds)
Freaking sweet. Will be flashing to test on Sunday.

Yep, but the signal is weak. Only tried 3g and 4g. Heard 2g might not work earlier today, haven't checked yet. My only real issue is no external sd and not being able to restore my Titanium backups.
I'll add that I installed this with cwm 6.0.4.4 & adb sideload as root on my pc....been too lazy to setup the udev rules so I gotta run adb as root. I won't say one way or another is the other recoveries work or not with this.

Latest rom is the latest AOSP 4.4 I've built, KitKat Folder is the folder I have them saved to on Copy.com, ya know, so old copies are around if a newer nightly breaks something -- more of a future thing....
I didnt get any signal with xt925...great to see 4.4 so close to our device though...
OP Updated.
New rom under latest nightly
Intermediate build between yesterdays and this had partial SD support, could read but not write which is at least good enough to restore TB Backups. Not sure if this one is read only or read/write cause I'm still on the boot animation
Awesome man! Downloading it now! Thanks!

I'm gonna mess with some mount commands and see if I can't get the external sd to be read/write. Wish me luck.
At least we can restore from the external sd....better than nothing.

[ROM]Team Haters GUMMY 1.2

Earlier I was searching for the gummy rom, but found that ALL links were taken down, But when I was looking through my SDcard I found the zip for the rom!
Pretty nice! This rom would be my favorite, however When I flash it, my home button doesn't do anything, I even used the NavBar, didn't do anything.
Wipe dalvik, cache, factory reset, and system.
CHEERS!
