So i have a rooted htc vivid and today my battery died today and now my phone will not boot up at all. I can plug in the charger and the charge light comes on for a few seconds and then goes off.. It did this once last night and came back on after pulling the battery. Died today and cant get it back on...help me out please someone..
We followed Slapshot30's Superguide by doing the following:
HTC Dev Unlock - confirmed
Followed step 2 but got an error trying to update recovery
Used the Supertool Method and confirmed root with Titanium Backup
Tried Flashing a couple different versions of CWM to no avail.
Now we are at the current situation, unable to even boot into hboot by pulling battery and using power/vol down method.
At a standstill now
Edit: Oh and I helped him root this phone. I've rooted both my OG Evo and my E3D.
Edit #2 - Got it to boot into hboot and now the phone is booting up normally. Anyone know why it would do that? Also, does anyone know where I can find a download for CWM that I can flash through the bootloader? When we try to go to the recovery now it just goes the the screen with the red exclamation.
Are you able to flash the PH39IMG from the superguide? It's really easy, just put that file on the internal or external memory and boot into hboot and the phone will automatically update to the newest recovery.
If that doesn't work you cab flash the recovery using the other guide in the superguide, the one involving flashimagegui app.

When he puts the image on the sd card it doesn't update when booting into hboot...it goes through the steps but says no image.. I've done this a million times on my evo 3d but this phone is about to drive me crazy! We tried the other method but the app says his phone isn't compatible.

How about going to the thread for the new recovery (thecubed is the dev that made it). There is another method posted there, just a little more confusing. It involves a line or two of code in the command prompt.

why not send it back to stock first using the instructions in the superguide, and start from scratch?
Is that a possibility?

It is a possibility, but a last resort. Kind of a pain in the butt.

yeah I guess that can be a bit of a pain... Sometimes when I have an error and can't seem to figure it out I like to re-start at least a portion of what Im working on with a clean slate and make sure I did everything correctly, cleanly, etc.. but that's the programmer in me coming back out after years of unintentional suppression
ill try your link out but probally gonna need some help in the command prompt not really good with that stuff...i have been trying and i cant get it to work..

Just put the file on your desktop. Go to a file explorer and go to your desktop folder. Hold shift and right click, select open a command window here. Then just type in the line of code it says.

That's really odd... You might just have to try reverting to stock using the superguide and then rooting again.

Not to be a prick or anything but there is literally a whole thread about this already only a few threads up. People really should search.

Well that didn't work. I mean I have the damn stock image on my computer. What are the damn commands to flash it from the command menu? Seems easy enough to me. I don't need to jump through hoops downloading programs or other files !! Been stuck for hours and frustration is setting in

Personally, I haven't messed with mine yet(stuck at parents house with slow internet and want to be in comfortable area when ready to mess with it) so I won't be of much help. I can tell you that the thread I linked is helpful.

I'm guessing you're on windows, otherwise just run flash-all.sh since goes thru all the commands
In windows open flash-all.sh in notepad and it has all the commands you need
Just looking to see if anyone else got this issue.
Tried live usb, live cd, and hdd install of ubuntu 32 bit 12.04.
Tried different roms and made sure fastboot was off, debugging check on and no lock code.
It will reboot to bootloader but the ADB part fails.
Any ideas?

I had the same problem and this worked for me, might not for you. My problem is caused by easy tether client installed on my laptop so when I plug in my phone I have to do this
1. Turn off development settings
2. Turn it back on
3. Check the use debugging box
4. Run adb from command prompt
My laptop runs windows 7 BTW
Sent from my HTCONE using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Also just so you know you have to run ADB as root or else you'll get a device not connected message

With the other method it does break hot reboot, I don't use it so it doesn't matter to me, also the method can be done right from terminal emulator, just follow the same command but instead of typing just revone you need to type revone.bin

So, came to the conclusion that my laptop does not like ubuntu for some reason. It will not recognize my device in ubuntu but is fine in windows.
I'm gonna try a live cd on my buddies laptop.
If I get it to recognize my phone, I'm gonna moonshine over revone.

My initial problem with device and moonshine was resolved by flashing stock rooted Rom, then everything worked fine. Completed and restored from backup. Think the issue with phone being seen and flashing was noted on the site somewhere that stock kernel was recommended or required.

I tried 3 different roms and even stock.
Nothing was working for me. But in ubuntu if I ran 'lsusb' my device doesn't even pop up. It won't recognize that it's there.

I used the newest live cd 13 I think, the more stable and without all media crop version had bad wife drivers for me. I downloaded file, copied over only adb and fastboot to folder, though they would not see device, also don't think needed, then continued. Made sure debugging was turned on, also updated to latest. 35 supersu (don't think this had anything to do with it) only other difference would be computer hardware. It pissed me off for a while until I loaded vipers stock deodexed.
Good luck :sly:

I was getting the same ADP error. I talked to support on IRC, they said viper 1.1.0 is not supported for moonshine. Suggested doing RUU to go back to stock. In which case you would have to nandroid your rom, backup contents to computer. Relock phone, RUU, unlock phone again, moonshine, flash recovery, restore nandroid. I might wait till next release of viper rom to s-off.

I DID MINE WITH MACKS ROM, IF YOU HAVE A STOCK ROM NANDROID JUST RESTORE IT AND TRY AGAIN.watch your downloads on moonshine so you get the right firmware version for your rom, they were reversed fuses was notified, he might have changed it by now but check for sure anyway.

don't know if this makes a difference or not. did you plug your phone in before or after you had ubuntu booted.i would try after it's booted up.
I would say my convert to GPe is perfect. I have found some issues. First, when i drop the audio folder to the root of the "sdcard" it goes like this: root_of_SD/audio/ringtones and root_of_SD/audio/alarms root_of_SD/audio/notifications and i used it this way on stock nexus devices, CM 10.1 nexus and non nexus devices and a completely stock HTC one and it worked after reboot, the tones were available for selection. It doesnt work on this GPe. Second is if i have confirmed root, using android terminal emulator and doing an su to root and accepting the super user screen to always accept, i type "reboot" and it says not allowed or something to that affect, i installed a root app i have used before called reboot control, gave it always allow root, hit reboot or shutdown and it never does anything. Am i crazy?
bump. Anyone?

I have been running the conversion for weeks and and I have not experienced any of this.
I may have to titanium my apps and run the RUU again. This is killing me. Also USB otg is fine. But with paragon app for ntfs it does not work.

So I think I'm in trouble.
I guess I must have downloaded the 9/6 nightly RIGHT before they fixed the boot animation bug, so it won't boot, I don't have any other nightly zips on my phone, my computer won't recognize my device so I can't put another one on it. I've been looking up solutions and I'm seeing this stuff about ADB transfers but it says you have to enable USB de-bugging and I don't think I did before and I can't do it now. I'm a noob, but I can follow directions (lol), anybody got another way to file transfer? Or just maybe get my computer to recognize my phone?
Thanks in advance...I'm probably going to stop tinkering if/once this is back to normal.
