Hi everyone, I was looking to replace Minimoto's calendar with Google Calendar, but I can't seem to download it from Google Play. The following message appears: "Your device isn't compatible with this version.". Any ideas or workarounds to this problem?

The Play Store version of Google Calendar is for ICS and above - technically, Android 4.0.3 and above. Minimoto is Gingerbread, so GC will not run on it.
There are some really good calendar alternatives for GB. Business Calendar is one of them; it's the one that I use.
Another vote for Business Calendar. Jorte Calendar is pretty good as well.

now that talk, market, etc seem working...it seems calendar is the last hole to plug.
the 3rd party apps i have like pure calendar and touch calendar can't find anything.
is there already a fix for this or still a WIP?
Latest version of Auto-Nooter includes the calendar app, but it will not sync with the Google servers. I hope someones working on it, but then again, I hope those with the expertise are working on a full blown ROM for us to upgrade too.
There was some discussion about this awhile back.
Here is a post with files that work for me
(I have a fully functional calendar, albeit restricted to one gmail account, and I have CalWidget set up).

I used this to get my calendar working a while ago (before auto-nooter, etc. were out) and calendar works fine for me. BTW - a belated thanks to feisty_noodle!

These steps got the program working, but my NC still doesn't sync the calendar with the cloud, only internally displayed appts. Is this the case for everyone else?

Calender syncs with all my calendars correctly and works fine. I followed the instructions step by step on nook devs. I wasn't even aware there was an issue.

Thanks for this info.. I will most likely re-root with the newest nooter and hopefully all will sync in one fell swoop.. I sideloaded the calendar apk's, so there might not be any info pushing to the syncd cloud correctly.

All of my calendars from my main gmail account sync fine, but I cannot access calendars on my other Gmail accounts.
Can you see those using the apps provided by the Autonooter-2.12.15?

If you have the accounts set up correctly and the apk's in place, you should have no problems syncing. ... Puzzling ...
Can you see your accounts in Google Books or Google Reader?
I'm having strange synching issues.
I grabbed both apks from the link above...the 2nd set.
placed them in system/app using Root explorer.
Rebooted. Now i have Calendar in the app tray.
I have one main Calendar and 2 Other Calendars (Wife's and Facebook events).
All linked under my gmail account.
In the calendar settings I do see all of these...however seeing that they are arranged alphabetically...my Wife's name goes on top...so hers are the only events that are being displayed.
So is it still ONLY ONE calendar can be displayed at a time? I do see all of them...and I can check/uncheck as I please to select... but would really like to view all...
Did i use the correct set of APKs?
and for some background.
I rooted with Supernooter.
Then got gapps using Auto_nook0.8 Autoconfig process.
Everything's working as desired except this calendar synching issue...and it'd be ideal not having to go through a newer Root process from scratch again...Thanks
Anyone have the calender apk out the the "auto-nooker"?

I am now also noticing strange behavior:
Initially, I rooted with nooter-2 and installed GApps/Market and Calendar separately (as was done at the time).
I am noticing that, although the initial sync picked up all the calendars from my login Gmail account, new events are synced only from Nook to Google server.
Importantly, I cannot sync new events to Nook from my Google calendars!
Also, and, at this point, a minor issue: my other Gmail accounts are not harvested for calendars (likely because there is no provision for this during "Add Account" dialog).
Can anyone please check on their Nooks whether new events get added to their calendars when created on devices other than the Nook?
If anyone succeeds: what was your root and Calendar installation methods?
Thanks.
Updates: the same is true for me with Autonooter-2.12.15 and Autonooter-2.12.18 (FW1.0.1).

I have this problem also. Initial sync worked fine, but I'm not seeing newly added events.
There doesn't seem to be a way to force a sync...
It seems that one peculiar difference with my phone's Calendar operation is that on the Nook the service called "Calendar Storage" (com.android.providers.calendar) is not running.
Anybody have any ideas? Does this possibly explain lack of ongoing synchronization?
I have dabbled a bit in different versions of Calendar.apk and CalendarProvider.apk from different Roms, but had no luck. The apks from cm-5.0.8 are the only ones that work as well as we have seen.
There is a free app (Business Calendar Beta) that has an effective "Sync now" function.
This thing triggers the latent calendar sync with the Google servers.
... Unfortunately, it is just a "Band-Aid" for this lack-of-syncing problem, but ... nevertheless.

In a similar vein, I got "Syncer Widget" to work, so I just put the widget next to the calendar widget to remind me to sync every now and then.
Just don't click on the choice to go to Android accounts and sync, as that rebooted my NC.
I did a complete wipe (system and user data) then autonooter w/ 1.01 firmware; not issues w/ my calendar syncing, but I only have one google account.

Do you mean that when you add an event on your Nook, it appears on your Google Calendar page (on the computer) and vice versa: when you add something on your GCal, it appears on your Nook?
Yep, works both ways. I'm using the Launcher Pro calendar on my nook and it's syncing no problem with my google account calendar.

@Kokanee483, I see, you probably mean the Launcher Pro widget calendar.
It may have a force sync function which is cool and would solve the problem in a way symilar to Synker or Business Calendar Beta.
I am more interested in the fundamental problem of CalendarProvider service not running.
Would you mind checking whether it syncs both ways from the Calendar App itself?
Also, if you have NookColor Tools, would you check Running Services for the CalendarProvider service entry?
Thanks.
I've got my g-Tablet set up just about the way I want it. I like the stock ROM. I have Market working.
My problem is that I don't have any use for the stock Calendar or Contacts apps. I'd like to get the proper Google ones installed without messing up anything else. Some of the replacement ROMs do a good job of this (Google apps run and connect and sync properly to my Google account), so I know it must be possible.
I did try the cyanogenmod update file, but doing this caused several problems and I had to restore from a backup. These problems included causing Market to crash any time it was run as well as Contact and Calendar apps that wouldn't connect or sync to my Google account.
Is there anyone who can walk me through the process of adding a single Google app such as Calendar or Contacts and get it up and connected to my Google account?

I finally figured out that "Tom" possibly means "ROM."
So, can anyone point those of us who are interested in adding just Google's Calendar or Contacts apps, rather than a replacement ROM or all-in-one "Google Apps" add-on, in the right direction?
Hello All,
I've been getting double calendar notifications for events since day one. I ignored it for awhile. Then it bothered me enough to do something about it. So i looked and noticed there were two Calendar apps so I disabled one and am still getting double calendar notifications.
Does anyone know a fix for this?
Thank you
Bump, please anyone?
Possibly uninstall one? You could also try turning notifications off for one.

I immediately disabled the stock calendar app and installed Google Calendar from the play store, there are no conflicts and it doesn't affect anything.

any idea why 1. the X has the android calendar (and not google) and 2. why the google calendar doesn't automatically replace the android calendar?
they're functionally identical, just one has Google's signature.

It might be an AOSP versus Google ROM kinda thing. Doesn't make sense, seeing that the Google Keyboard is built in.

If you go to the Play Store, there is an updated Google Calendar app. It is Version 5.01579230.
When I install it , it gets installed in addition to the Google Calendar app that comes on the phone, even though it seems like it is intended to be a replacement. Does anyone know why the new app doesn't replace the old one? When I get notifications, I get them from both apps. I can easily uninstall the newer one. But, I prefer it. I'd rather just have the new one. But, the new one can't be just uninstalled. I'm afraid to go disabling things on the old version because I do not want to interfere with the new one functioning.
Any ideas? Thanks!!
The Note 4 does not come with the Google Calendar app installed, it comes with the Samsung Calendar app. Unfortunately the Samsung Calendar cannot be fully disabled. You can remove all the calendars to display though if you want to use the Google calendar app.
Haa. I had no idea that was Samsung's Calendar. They seem so similar. Thanks.
I have an ATT Active running 4.4.2 and I uninstalled my stock calendar thinking I would stop the duplicate notifications. Unfortunately I learned that now my google calendar won't open and I can't sync it. I used TI backup to uninstall and then I restored calendar storage but I can't find my calendar apk to restore (don't know what happened to it). I have searched and downloaded Splanner apk and calendar provider apk's but I can't get the calendar's to open. I'm guessing the apk's I am finding aren't compatible with my phone? Can someone please help me and let me know what I need to reinstall just to get google calendar up and running so it can sync? I really depend on it for work and I'm struggling to keep track of my schedule without it.
Anyone? Really could use some help.

What about the Google Calendar app? I always install Google Calendar from the Play Store, and then use TiBu to uninstall the stock calendar app, I've never had any trouble doing this on several devices
Thank you for the reply. I installed the Google calendar but it won't open and I'll get calendar error messages at random while using the phone. I must have unistalled something else that doesn't allow Google calendar to work. Do you have any suggestions on what I should look for?
Little help please. I'm still stuck with no working calendar.
standalone calendar that works?
Somewhat off topic but is at least a basic calender that might work, but may not sync with google calendar.
Calender is one of the things that is not well defined as to what you need for it to work. I'm attempting to get some basic calender functionality without installing gapps framework. I have a TB Cyanogenmod account that may allow Android or Google Calender to work without a Google account?
After trying several calendar apps at f-droid without success, Jorte Calendar seems to work good as a standalone app for a sans gapps system.
Thanks for the reply. Is this calendar my last option? Is there no way, without wiping my phone and starting from scratch, to replace whatever apk's are missing? I would really like to just install what is missing and continue using the phone. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You should be able to get calendar working by replacing the apk's you deleted, we just need to know what apk's you deleted so we can send you the replacements.
Thanks for the quick response. As far as I can tell the apk that I am missing is the calendar apk. Is there a way to compare the apk's that I have compared to what I should have? Thanks again.

Google Calender 5.0 .apk:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxnEA1OTspCUTWRJQ2lIRkpIaEE/view?usp=sharing
Thanks for the apk. Unfortunately I keep having the same problem as before when I downloaded Google calendar. When I try to open calendar I get "Unfortunately calendar has stopped" and I also get the same error message for Exchange services simultaneously. Does this give any clues as to what might be missing?
I had similar issue as well when I was uninstalling stuff. After a couple months of not having a properly functioning calender I tried out Today Calender Pro when it was on sale. It works great. Might be worth a shot.

You could try opening the app details and deleting it's data. That may fix Exchange services at least, but didn't fix google calendar for me. I'm in the same boat as you, just not dependent on syncing with google.
If you have a good recovery option, you can make a backup and try flashing gapps again:
