Bootloop - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I rooted my Xperia Z (via http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2186368) and it was working perfectly fine for quite some time... now it gets stuck in a bootloop every time I try and restart it.
So, the information that I have:
The device has a locked bootloader, I rooted it using DooMLoRD's thread, linked above.
It worked for a while. I installed Titanium Backup.
When I turn the device on, it gets stuck in a bootloop.
When I plug it into my computer and hold the vol +, I get a blue LED and nothing else.
When I plug it into my computer and hold the vol -, it flashes red then green very quickly, then the LED turns off.
Nothing happens if I tap the vol+ during boot.
I'm trying to piece things together from other threads on the forum, but to no avail.
I found a thread started by someone with a similar problem (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38669779), but he doesn't say how he eventually fixed it.
Could anyone give me some advice or step-by-step guidance on how I should proceed?
Thanks!

I am having the same Issue:
Locked bootloader (Three UK network - bootloader unlock allowed:NO)
Rooted, Then installed "recovery for locked bootloaders"
Tried to flash rom, gave error code 7 for the zip, flash failed.
Now bootlooping, Cant get green LED with volume DOWN, But can get blue LED....
I think the blue LED is for fastboot, and apparently that only works with unlocked bootloaders.... Is that correct ?

Never mind, now solved
It seemed, that when stuck on the Sony logo loop, If I held volume UP and power button (to force a restart) it would vibrate once, then immediately switch my finger to the volume down key (AND HOLD) the flashtool program would recognize the device in flash mode
(even though there was no green LED on the device indicating it was in this mode, IN FACT, the phone just looked like it was completely dead whilst i flashed it with Stock unbranded firmware... but it worked)
Moral of the story .. persevere !
Hope you sort your issue too

You can recover using flash tool. Use my guide to get your ftf if you don't have one and then you can reflash it in fast tool

Phone bricked

Hey guys.. i think i have bricked my phone
I have the c6602 model and have a unlockable bootloader but left it locked. I have rooted it using goroh_kuns method
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2186368
then put CWM for locked bootloaders on it using this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2187363
then flashed this stock based kernel ROM through CWM without wiping the old one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2175903
but now my phone starts up, and reboots automatically, resulting in a loop. I can not go into the CWM recovery anymore because you have to do it through pc everytime while your phone is on.
Personally i think its Superuser from the previous rom and SuperSU from the new rom mixing up and resulting in the loop boot
Can somebody help please..?

Did you try to enter to CWM recovery by pressing volume key while booting to see if the recovery is working

If you have the blue led working this means that it has the fastboot mod working - press VOLUME UP + PLUG INTO PC(not power)
try to switch off the device then press the VOLUME DOWN button while connecting to pc = flash mod
If you have one of theese working you can always repair your device
ive done the same thing and am stuck on sony screen i can get into flash mode or fast boot but have tried installing a stocck rom but it just says waiting files any help would be great

[Q] Bricked device, please help

Hello,
I have a problem with my Xperia Z. I was trying to flash boot.img from the PAC-rom right after unlocking my bootloader. I rebooted after unlocking, powered off back to fastboot, but i forgot to turn on usb-debugging (for which i gave myself a lot of facepalms). Then i flashed the boot.img, rebooted in the hope of getting to TWRP-recovery, nut i had to give myself another facepalm. The device is on, at least, the backlight is on, but i have a black screen. Power button does nothing, held it for at least 30 secs but still nothing.
Can anyone please help me?
Thanks in advance

Hard power off by pressing Power and Volume up together until the phone vibrates three times.
Download a kernel with recovery, and flash it. Now you will have a kernel, with recovery, no rom, though. I think I never had the need to enable USB debugging. That's on OS level, fastboot is on bootloader level if I'm not mistaken.
Just in case, you enter recovery by pressing volume up after the purple light while phone is booting. After that, you can flash whatever from recovery.
IF you stil have troubles, flash stock using EMMA Flashtool and start over. Read the instructions carefully.
Press power + volume up for 15 seconds till you have 3 vibrations, this will shutdown your phone.
To access to recovery you have to press volume down several times while booting and when you see the led.
You can go back stock using flashtool.

Stuck in ROM install load screen- Can't get to Bootloader

I posted this in ATT HTC One, but it's not getting any attention.
Unlocked and rooted my phone last night using the latest version of TWRP. I mistakenly (not knowing at the time) used the Cyanogenmod installer kit which gave me an error during install. Now my phone is stuck on that spinning CM loading screen. When I go to get into the bootloader (power + volume down) my phone restarts and goes to the bright HTC screen with the red writing on the bottom, then goes right back to the CM loading screen and not into the bootloader menu like I want.
I have not yet tried the trick of holding the phone near bright lights to try and get it into bootloader. The USB cable I think is fine as well and not a cause of anything.
Any suggestions please? I have searched through this forum a lot, but haven't found this exact problem yet.

Ok you dont need to worry abt this. You need to Press (Power + Volume Down) till your phone restarts and then just leave the power button but keep holding the volume down button and it will take you to the Fastboot Mode and from there you can go to recovery and flash another Compatible ROM or do RUU. Hope it helps:good:
Thank you! I will try this tonight.
Others have also said I need to do this under a bright light, too.

[Q] Bricked Xperia c6603 that can't shut down

So the thing is, I decided to buy this phone from another person a few days ago while it was still working but it had this one problem where the owner told me about how the phone can't be shutdown unless the battery runs out of power. Any time you shut it down, it simply reboots instead. I thought it was most likely a problem I could fix after flashing, so I decided to buy it.
Using Flashtool I was able to see that if timed pressing the buttons and plugging it into my computer right before the reboot started, I could boot into flashmode. This phone came in the 4.4 KK firmware and the 10.5.1.A.0.292 Generic NCB build, so I flashed an older kernel and rooted it using Towelroot before reflashing the 10.5.1.A.0.292 Generic NCB kernal. After rooting (and testing if root apps can shut it down which didn't work either), with a locked bootloader I installed the XZDualRecovery using the method here because I was finding it so hard to unlock the bootloader and Flashtool wouldn't do it either. It automatically booted into TWRP recovery menu but when I tried to flash a ROM (existenz Ultimate 3.5 to be precise), it simply made the screen go black for a second and took me back to the recovery menu. So figuring it was a bad download, I downloaded a smaller ROM but when I rebooted I accidentally went into PhilZ Touch menu instead. Deciding to do the usual wipe before flashing, here's where I messed up like an idiot. I saw an option along the lines of "Wipe CLEAN for flashing ROM" or something and trusted it so much despite it saying it's gonna wipe the system partition clean as well (I still don't know why I accepted even when warned of that).
So basically now I have a system that boots the SONY splashscreen and then goes black with the back light still on unless the battery runs out. I can't shut it down no matter how long I hold the power button and if I restart, it boots back to the same thing. I have no recovery menu now thanks to my genius idea of wiping the system, and the only thing I can enter is flashmode. So when I try to flash an FTF firmware (I tried every firmware I could get) back into the phone with Flashtool, it would simply say "preparing for flashing" for about a minute before it says "device disconnected" because the phone decides to exit flash mode and boot normally. I have a locked bootloader (with bootloader unlocking allowed), so I can't flash recovery menus. When I try booting by holding the VolumeUp key and plugging it in, it enters flash mode only with the red LED on and I still get the same results on Flashtool.
Was wondering if there were any ways around this that I might have missed before deciding to open the phone and change the hardware? And if it comes to that, what would I need to change (have always been a software guy when it comes to phones)? Any tips and advice would be appreciated.
TLDR: Have a bricked c6603 from wiping the system, that can't shutdown and keeps rebooting and refuses to be flashed.
If you have time before the phone reboots, hold Volume UP and the power key for 15 seconds. The phone will vibrate once at 10 seconds. Keep holding the keys until you feel 3 vibrations. This will hard power down the phone.

^I've tried this and it simply boots back up again.
Hmm. That should definitely shut the device down, not restart it.
Sounds like there could possibly be an issue with your power button. I've heard of issues with the power button after water damage. Have you checked the water ingress indicators under the flaps? If any are red, it points to earlier damage from water.

Seems like you're right, I just checked it and it indeed has a faded red color on it. Do you think if I take the phone apart it the power button could be fixed or should I swap something else inside this from another Xperia?

I experienced this problem
Pls hold down volume When u connect your phone to pc via flashtool,
It will connect in flash mode
After that , just flash 0.230 kernel via flash mode ( kernel not rom )
Then disconnect your phone
Turn it off ( hold power button and volume up till it vibrates 3 times )
Then before it turn on again , hold down the volume down and connect it to pc via usb and this time flash 0.283 Rom ( not kernel )
This worked for me

Bricked Phone, will not boot

Hi guys,
I was wondering what if anything I can do to unbrick the phone. Currently when turning the phone on, the notification led flashes green once, the zuk logo flashes briefly on the screen and then it powers off.
Connecting to pc with volume buttons down in any combination does the same thing. The phone screen stays black and a solid blue notification led comes up with no change.
QFIL cannot detect the phone, neither can adb or fastboot.
The bricking happened while attempting to install a custom rom. I had unlocked bootloader and accessed root on the stock system, and wanted to try out a different rom.
Thanks in advance, I just got the phone yesterday and I'm really hoping it's not permanently bricked.
Hi bobtheball,
You should be able to select recovery mode at he beginning of the boot (push volume down when you have the very first menu, and then select recovery).
I assume you've installed TWRP to flash the rom, so once you're on TWRP, you can push a new rom and try to flash again.
What ROM did you try to install?

Hi, what my original message meant to say is that I've tried every recommended procedure that I've seen. Pushing volume down while booting does nothing. The screen does not turn on and all I get is a blue notification led. Because of this I can't access the bootloader menu to boot into recovery.

Hi, your phone act as if it had not enough battery to even present the menu. Try charging the phone for half hour before trying vol-down+power button combination.
