I love Android but now it's time to hack that iPhone 4 for Verizon for Cricket or MetroPCS (ugh it's not triband).
Let's rule the air now with cheap data and text messaging
Any takers?

I've used an iPhone 4 and I havent really gotten to actually try and switch carriers fom verizon to cricket but I know that ota doest work (obviously)
My main concern on flashing it would be
1. Switching prl's
2. Trying to set the mdn and min
Everything else doesnt seem so hard, apn setting are right there for the taking

i found that the verizon prls along with others, are located in "/System/Library/Carrier Bundles/iPhone/"
i replaced the verizon ones with cricket ones with the same name and rebooted lol
didnt work. until now i havent found a way to put it in "diagnostics mode"
in order to flash the prl with either workshop or QPST...etc.
just my two cents

Actually, you may want to consider this at http://www.volkspost.info/ipcc_fw3/ to make sure that you can turn on the carrier. You can't just cut and paste but you have to set to activate.
We need to do a monster flash file for the iPhone 4 for Cricket/MetroPCS just like the way that the RAZR V9 can be done here.

You might have more luck with this at http://www.iphone-developers.com/
We typically don't deal with iphones on xda-developers, that is why we dont' have an iphone thread.

I might be way off base on this, but for the past couple of weeks I've been looking into moving onto Straight Talk for multiple reasons. (Cheaper, able to use imported GSM phones, etc.)
However, I'm not sure I want to make the switch without getting a feel for what the coverage is like in my area. With the Droid 3 being a "Global" phone, would I be able to unlock it via Verizon, buy a Straight Talk phone (with SIM card) and use the Droid 3 on the local AT&T towers. That way, I can test the call quality/3G without canceling my contract first.
I know that it's possible to use unlocked GSM phones on Straight Talk's wireless and use a non-Straight Talk phone on the AT&T frequencies.
Is this possible with the frequencies/SIM slot in the Droid 3? Has anybody done this before? Thanks!
I would love to know the answer to that myself. This Verizon bill hurts the pockets. Now, what about data?

You will not get the Droid 3 on St. Reason being is that even if you unlock the SIM in this or any Moto Droids it will only unlock for international SIMs. If you are in the US or use any US SIMs, it will not support them.
US SIM country code is blocked on the radio level. MAJOR coding is involved in lifting that block
Was wondering if anyone knew someone that can add my Bionics ESN to Metro. Ive been over to howard forums but noone responds. If so PM me
The Bionic and other LTE phones don't use ESNs for network registration- it's all SIM based. Combine that with the unique frequencies used by Verizon LTE and you have a phone that won't work on any other network. Sorry. :/
Weird, I can access the CDMA part just fine, ##program send. And there's a guy on another forum that has it on cricket? I'm not trying to get it all working just talk and text.

are there a way to get a bad esn bionic phone to be able to activate on a verizon network?
of course besides from going to verizon store and find out what is wrong with it then resolve the issues either by paying the amount that is due on the phone or if its a stolen product
thanx in advance for your help
I am looking to try to dring my droid 4 to straight talk. A lot of places have said plenty of different things. But can anyone tell me how I can do this for the droid 4. I can find barely anything for the droid 4 itself. Most of the stuff I find is for other droid models and none of them are clear for the process.

It looks like you can unlock the phone for GSM -- I'd follow the guides relevant to that. Next, you'll need an unlocked GSM StraightTalk MicroSIM card.
I'm going to take a gamble and try this myself and see what happens and if I can pull it off. Are you intending to run this as a GSM phone or a CDMA phone?
As I recall only 2G works with AT&T/GSM, but potentially some other people have unlocked it for 3G... I'll be testing and let you know!
I too am curious about using this with straight talk. I had heard about 50/50 with people getting 3g to work with GSM. There was another post in this forum about unlocking the bands, so I might have to give that a try..
Just FYI -- in case anyone comes across this post at a future date:
At present (October 1st, 2012), the GSM bands in America remain locked (despite what some websites have claimed) and no workaround has been discovered as of yet.
I tried placing my MicroSIM for StraightTalk in the D4 and had no luck, unfortunately! :-/

i would like to go to straight talk using cdma if possible.. anyone know how to program the droid 4 on the straight talk network.??
I have a droid 4. I want to put it on a prepaid plan.. with unlimited everything. Since the GSM issue still hasn't been worked around, Straight Talk is out of the question. So I have been looking into ntelos/frawg. Has anyone done this? I have found a writeup on how to switch it to intelos.. But I can't find the prl I need. Does anyone have that?
