Download correct ruu, in fastboot mode type fastboot oem lock in cmd and flash ruu when phone is fully rebooted.
For locking bootloader, step 6: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1578546
and for ruu chapter 4: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1693896

6.open the terminal in your computer and type in 'adb devices', you probably will see an empty list, no devices. Just follow step 7
7. type in 'fastboot oem lock' without quotes and your device is locked again, you will see relocked - you might see a warning under it but that's nothing, after rebooting the warning will go away.
I haven't understand these lines. Can u explain me, what does mean "adb devices"?

Most easy way to flash stock ROM is when device is unlocked , s-off it and run the ruu. If you relock the device you can't flash a GB ROM if you had used stock ICS.

[Q] I need help restoring the stock ROM, please =[

Hi,
Firstly, I would just like to say, if this has been covered already, I apologize sincerely.
I have recently rooted and unlocked the bootloader on my XL. Unfortunately, I executed the process the wrong way round (rooted first) and subsequently lost all USB storage connectivity as well as messed up my location settings and lockscreen icons (which no longer appear...ever).
To remedy this, I flashed RCMix3D (which I must say, is a fantastic ROM) and it seemed to remedy all problems.
The problem I'm having now is that I am wanting to sell my device due to financial problems, but to sell it to a store, it needs to be on the stock ROM. I have a nandroid backup of the original ROM but it is faulty (no USB connectivity etc) and I cannot sell it with the custom ROM (I tried selling a Samsung Galaxy Ace to them a while ago and it was refused because it had a custom ROM).
So my question is this: How can I get back to a fully functional stock ROM? All guidance and resources are kindly appreciated.
PS. I purchased my device in the U.K and I am my carrier is Three.
Thank you for your time,
Jim

Also, I noticed that RUU file is an exe. file. Is this correct? If so, do I just run in on my PC?

Yes the RUU is a Windows PC program. Just run it and follow the instructions.
YES! the RUU provided helped me out when i bricked my sensation xl. and the 'flash oem lock' does the trick.
please tell me how can I go to fastboot and do that command

re-lock before flash stock rom says HTC HOLIDAY SUPERGUIDE???

so HTC HOLIDAY SUPERGUIDE seems to say you need to relock your bootloader before you flash the stock ROM. I thought it would be the other way around???
HTC HOLIDAY SUPERGUIDE
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416836
***(BEFORE YOU BEGIN)
- You MUST be on a stock ROM with the bootloader locked or re-locked
- If you are NOT locked/re-locked or you are on a custom ROM, then you MUST follow the following directions...
- Boot into H-Boot by powering off. Once off, power back on and hold VOL DOWN + POWER BUTTON, once in HBOOT go to "fastboot" and click the power button to select
- Download the WCXJB ROOT PACK zip from the bottom to your desktop and unzip it
- Inside the unzipped WCXJB ROOT PACK folder, hold SHIFT and RIGHT CLICK, select open a command window here
- Run this code in the command prompt without quotes
- "fastboot oem lock"
- Now reboot
- Now, we will flash you back to the original stock ROM you were on
- Pick the RUU for your specific device. For example, the one for AT&T has the word "Cingular" in it, the one for Rogers says "Rogers" in it.
- You will find the RUU's here http://www.filefactory.com/f/002b74e0f4775869/ (THANKS to user football)
- Once you download the correct RUU, make sure your phone is plugged in via USB to your computer and you have the correct drivers (or just HTC Sync) installed on your computer
- Run the executable and follow the steps to flash the stock ROM
- Once the ROM loads, you can move on to the next steps
Same, but It is used with HTC Support. Unlocking allows CUSTOM ROMS That is a default HTC/Att/Whatever RomUtilityUpdate (RUU) so you need to be relocked for it to work or you will get errors and will not work
>>>so you need to be relocked for it to work or you will get errors and will not work
For it to work? what is "it", the RUU?
If so how do I relock it. when I adb devices I dont show up so I cant fastboot oem lock.
Sounds like you have the incorrect htc drivers installed. download the all in one toolkit in the android development and install the drivers and see if it shows up in adb.. just to make sure you have to be in hboot and the phone will say "Fastboot usb" in red text then you open a command window and type "fastboot oem lock"
>>>all in one toolkit in the android development
do you have a link for that?

Well I'd rather have ICS lol
But whichever works
Go here:

This is the phones RUU.
Click the link in the post and it will download automatically.
Then once that's downloaded, Boot into H-Boot and go into fastboot usb.
(Assuming you have android-sdk installed)
Go to where you have the fastboot.exe installed. Should be with the adb and all in platform-tools.
And hold shift and right click and click open command window here.
The type "fastboot oem lock"
Run the RUU.exe you downloaded.

Yeah i tried this method dozens of times, the command prompt just sits there and says "waiting for device"
or something similar
Do you have the drivers for the phone?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1450105
The drivers for Windows 7 and XP Are in the download links of this forum.
Drivers as in the HTC Drivers installed on my PC?
Yeah
Can you type in "fastboot devices" when you're in fastboot and it give you the serial number for your phone? Or does it just show nothing?
shows nothing
You need drivers. Try re installing. I posted a link above.

actually you can search your pc temp folder for the romu.zip while the exe is running
This is the instructions posted by Scotty85
I'm just re-posting it for you
Quote:
http://androidforums.com/t-one-all-t...ml#post5864243
Quote:
here is how you extract rom.zip:
Quote:
the .exe utilities can be finicky,so if you have trouble getting it to run, you can extract "rom.zip" in the following manner:
-start the utility
-check the "i understand" box to move on to the next screen
-hide the utility temporarily out of site
-search your C drive for "rom.zip". you will find it in a temporary location(it will be in a different spot each time you run the utility)
-open the folder location, and transfer rom.zip to a safe location on your PC.
-unhide and cancel the utility, youre done with it.
-rom.zip can be flashed using
adb reboot-bootloader
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip rom.zip
fastboot flash zip rom.zip (yes do this 2 times)
fastboot reboot
Quote:
here are some directions to flash "rom.zip"
if youre working with a booted, operational phone, you can flsh the file in the following manner:
-open a cmd window
-change to adb/fastboot directory
cd c:\foldername
(cd c:\mini-adb if youve used any of my guides )
-place the zip file you want to flash into adb/fastboot directory
-enable usb debug, disable fastboot, plug in phone
-check for connectivity
adb devices (should return serial number)
-boot to fastboot
adb reboot bootloader
-check for connectivity again
fastboot devices
-flash the file
fastboot erase cache
fastboto oem rebootRUU (will put you in ruu mode, black screen silver htc letters)
fastboot flash zip zipfilename.zip (will send and flash the file. dont interupt it while the cmd window shows its writinging, and the green status bar is moving on the phone screen)
*sometimes a file will fail with a pre-update error. this is normal, just enter again:
fastboot flash zip zipfilename.zip
and this time it will finish
-when you get "finished" and "OK"
fastboot reboot-bootloader (takes you back to fastboot)
-reboot back to the OS
fastbooot reboot
you can use this if you dont have an operational phone as well. you just need to manually put the phone in fastboot(select from hboot menu) then skip the "adb" commands and start with fastboot devices
to answer your other question, yes, you will need to re-unlock and re-install recovery after running the RUU. an ruu is designed as an "unroot" solution, or emergency fix,if other attempts have not made the phone operational.
