MIUI is now open-sourced...

So.. Yeah! MIUI is now open-source. The TeamCooper already has an Alpha released on their FB page. All the news about MIUI opensource : http://androidcommunity.com/chinese-oem-xiaomi-publishes-miui-open-source-code-20120203/ .

I like MIUI's simplicity. If we get a port I won't be upgrading my phone anytime soon lol!

Wow... How supportive you guys are.... Still this is fun no matter what you say.... I still research myself. And so you know probably in two days i'm gonna release a guide how to run debian + lxde on our mini without losing android . And btw - most of the guys release just news too.... But you don't say anything to them... Either way what you said got on my mind and i will keep that. But it won't change something major in me

So will be avaible a MIUI rom for our device ?

They just tell u how to port it and it's not the complete source code.
They threw in the source for a few apps...that's all.

Because MIUI is based on CM, we just take CM9, integrate MIUI source (apps, framework) in CM9 source and compile.

Correct.
Miui guys just took CM and modified it and kept it as closed source for quite a time.
But I think first we needa have stable CM9.

I've already decided not to try anymore ics custom roms ( yeah i know that's not gonna effect you devs )
I really dont think that new ics based roms would get success..
devs may think out of the box. should try to do something unique

There was a series or a single rom idk by Xperience.cyanogen...some features were new in that...we need more of that..

Yeah so thats where the inventiveness of the devs comes in..imagine a new android version.. no one's version would be considered wrong..

How about roms having a whole new layout, i mean people have started to get bored with the ics layouts and themes, everybody loves a change.

Honeycomb isn't likely because:
1. The sources in AOSP are untagged + unbranched
2. The sources are not complete
Windows 8 is far more unlikely because:
1. The sources were never released

Windows 8 looks almost exactly like WP7 and Honeycomb sounds good but I doubt anyone would be interested into making it as popular and good as ICS.

Guys port the cyanogen mod 9 Galaxy Y.

The original rom is REALLY BUGGY itself...How do you suppose a port will do anything good? A port will add even more bugs to the build.So much that it would become unusable.Not trying to discourage you or anything. Just stating ...

I dont hink it wil b possible as cm7 is still miles away frm gettin onto our fones. GPU sources r also nt yet out(fu***** brodcom).

Theres a mini cm9 for the international gt s5830. And works really good. Almost no bugs as i installed it on my gf's ace
Maybe that one would be the right one to port.

5830 hv different board. Even GPU.

S5830I = Galaxy Young, but looks like Galaxy Ace S5830
S5830 =/= S5830I except for the look

at least it starts? what would need to change it to at least boot? I do not care problems, she boot is a start.

I don't understand most of what devs do. I do understand some pieces of code, I know how to do some basic theming, and I can use search engines.
I also know that "she boot" is not a start. Why? Read post#2. It's written by a dev who actually knows more than your "at least it starts?" questions. We already have a CM7.2 that "she boot", but it's very buggy, and not for daily use. If you want it, and "do not care problems, she boot is a start", google it.
EDIT: Oh, forgot to mention why the "she boot" CM7.2 is full of bugs. It's ported from the Galaxy Y as well and even tho "at least it starts" the most crucial features don't work.

oh I understand this is not exactly "a beginning" significant, but for me it is. I asked this question because I have not had time to test, but if any of you tested could say, so I asked the question. If at least boot, it means a lot to me, I'm already anxious for ace ics running on and can not wait for that to happen.
I understand little about ports, I read a lot but never tried that already do not use linux and do not have time for this, but sorry if you enterpretou bad what i said, it was not the intention.

so the cm7.2 came to our phone I installed it. I already know all the bugs, and also follow the topic seeing all fixes. But what i really hope is CM9, at least a version of it bootable.

The ROM in the OP will brick the S5830I if installed, so no one can test it unless it's ported, which is useless because:
1- It will even more buggy
2- CM9, even if ported correctly, will be extremely laggy, because the full GPU sources for the S5830I aren't available.
3- CM7 isn't ready yet. CM9 only requires more work.

N other thing is that this cm9 from wich ur portnng is itself bugly its useless to port a rom with bugs !!

ever read about the differances between S5830 and S5830i ? well Original device have Adreno200 which it has source code released and S5830i have Videocore IV that is made by broadcom even tho broadcom agreed to share some of its device's source code they denied to release VC IV's code without HW Acceleration its an piece of crap with 1ghz(with rafael's latest kernel) cpu and 300mb ram even Galaxy Y is better than this device because there are some ports that already getting done its cheaper if we compare this device to that...

I have installed it with ClockworkMod Recovery V5.0.2.6 and it works fine, however, after booting it is stuck at "Updating Android - Starting apps".
But, IT WORKS !!!!!!

Yeah, me too, but actually it doesn't works, I only get/it's now stuck at an orange circle, witch can be moved with your finger like a laptop touchpad (after booting (without/no boot animation)).

By the way, you seriously shouldn't flash Galaxy Y ROMs. Your keys may end up not getting recognized (in other words: no recovery/download mode for you anymore).

Sorry, but XDA rules say you have to ask permission if you use other's work. You can't just upload some ROM and then ask someone else to test it. If you're afraid to brick your device - this is no place for you.

Actually, no. I just don't see any point of someone re-building and re-uploading the same ROM. It's easy to download already working sources and then just build a ROM and "be a dev". No offence, but I've said it already and I will say it again - everyone is free to contribute with their ideas, fixes and whatever you can contribute with. How did you think you helped the community? By uploading the same build as I? I just don't get, I mean, people like you and those Ace Plus guys who did the same thing. If you want to help the community, the bug list is available for everyone... Dig in. Building a ROM from source is easy. Setting up a working device config and fixing bugs is the development process.
EDIT: I didn't mean that you have to stop what you were doing, there are a lot of other ROMs you can build, like, for example, AOKP. (if you're capable of setting up the source)

no dude the camera will not work you need the specific andoid version camera libs or if you can build them or modify the gb ones to work on 4.x as gangsta41 did for a lot armv6 devices then yes you can have working camera on ics

Camera will work on CM9 if you use lib from CM10(where is preview, but gallery fc) I'm working on bug-free CM9 now and I think it will work.

no, it will probably not work with the same libs. Libs are not the only thing that is needed for camera, if we use GB libs we need binder, heapbase compatibility and camera parameters etc. built into framework

TheWhisp currently not working on CM9 I uploaded first build, camera not working there, but I'm working on fixing it. Yes it's hard to fix it, but I will try use libs etc. from other android phones which have official ICS

I think closing the thread waiting for a release candidate is not the thing to do. There's people that will use the ROM even with all the bugs and the lag, if it's present.

A difference between porting and building, and if he did build it, it will never have hw and will be slow (due to the lack of GPU drivers)

Why so much hurry in making cm9 based roms..Let atleast stable version come..
My suggestion..Not discouraging you..But according to me wait for stable cm9..

It will be as cm9, without difference of driver,if cm9 has driver PA Will also, porting create many little bugs, and paranoid is made to be built i think

This thing you said is absurd. Porting will create more bugs. And a port takes libs from base rom, so porting and building makes no difference at this point, but porting might create bugs as it was built for another device.
