Help needed urgently - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello xda , my phone note was rooted with stock rom with cwm 6.0.1.2. I accidentlly installed a rom through recovery without making a nandroid back up and wiping data. After restarting the phone Im getting a yellow triangle. I can get into download mode and recovery but i dont want to lose data.
I am not able to make a nandroid back since its giving me an error
I cannot mount usb or data through recovery.
Please help me out as i dont want to lose data.
Quick help will be appreciated.

Sorry Friend ..there is no way to solve this problem .. your baseband or system version has gone unknown that's the reason its showing only traingle .. so flash your device again .. it will be wipe all of your data .

so did you wipe data or not?
give more info about the rom & kernel you were on and the rom you installed. where is the phone stuck after reboot?

is the phone booting ?
yellow triangle only comes from flashing files through ODIN, are you sure there isnt something else youve done?
Which ROM did you install ?

I was totally on stock and I dont remember cleary how I had rooted my phone. Its just that the data is there because when im making a nandroid back up i can see the files name i had while its making the back up. but It stops almost at the end
please please i dont want to lose data.

media (pics, videos etc) is stored on the Internal sd card (if there is no external sd card), a full wipe WILL NOT wipe your sd card, it will only remove all your apps and the app data (configurations, game saves etc)
as for contacts, these will be deleted, but google syncs regularly so they should be automatically restored when you log back in after wiping.

alright i am gonna try a full wipe first. I hope pictures and videos dont get deleted

they wont get deleted and wipe may not solve the issue as the system partition is corrupt with the incomplete flash and you will need to install a rom... either the stock or the one you were trying to install...
1. if you install the stock rom again > you may be able to preserve the contacts,
2. if you go with the custom rom > then format the system, data and cache partitions for a clean install. (this will not delete the media)

[Q] About moving from one rom to another and fresh start

Whenever I flash to another rom and wipe everything, do all the files from the previous rom get completely removed? I mean, if I move to a new rom, is it like formatting my computer and installing Windows (or whatever OS) again?
I'm not talking about my files in the SD card, I want to know if flashing a new rom and wiping means a clean, fresh start
AFAIK, it will not get you a fresh OS like you format your PC before installing new OS. I recommend you to full wipe your phone, make a back up before ! your sd card's data will not be deleted, but your apps, contacs, settings, messages, etc will be removed.
I usually do a full wipe, install the rom and then full wipe again
Just backup with xrecovery before installing new rom, then install rom and wipe bat, cache and dalvik, you should retain your data but if not you can full wipe then or restore.
From Froyobread to GingerDX kept my data, Same Dev.
But, guys, I don't want to retain my data. I want to know if flashing a new rom means a fresh start.

Full wipe and fresh start.
Yes it formats everything such as files from the os and your data! Before you move to any rom always make a backup, just incase something goes bad, such as it not booting for some reason or other bugs.

You should do a fresh flash...go back to stock GB....or flash abyss kernel (GB version) and then perform a full wipe. Never do a wipe in an ICS
kernel...then re flash the firmware...make sure that u are in GB when u do the full wipe.
If you decide to flash abyss kernel, flash it and then reboot recovery...do not reboot the phone or it will fail as GB kernels do not work with ICS. :good:

Root your phone , back up all data using titanium back up and reboot to recovery , wipe data , cache , dalvik cache from the clockworkmod recovery and flash a good gingerbread rom . And if you think rooting your phone spoils your phone etc etc then you are wrong !!!!! If you have fear of loosing your warranty you can always unroot your phone . after fresh install restore all your data with the titanium back up , you wont loose any data may it be paid app , or anything , it will be restored . And if you have fear of loosing your data like songs and other stuff on your sd card then dont worry , wiping data wont wipe your sd card
Happens all of the time after you downgrade, Sounds like you didn't clear cache/Dalvik etc once you'd downgraded to GB.. If you're on GB - Can always try to boot into stock and factory reset (this will not wipe your internal and external SD card so photo's and music will be safe.)

flashing a new system not have repercursions to content of internal sdcard or external sdcard.
you lose app installed and configurations of device and apps.
for flashing via CWM you have more choises:
- install zip from internal or external sdcard
- apply sd-card update.zip if you have one on sd-card. in that case you not lose nothing.

Yes, but you did not state what ROM you were using.
If you were using CM or another custom ROM you can use the 'adb sideload'-functionality to reinstall it. This requires setting up adb on your computer, for instance using the files for rooting the v20a LG installation and installing the correct drivers. The phone should then boot normally with (nearly) all your data intact.
If you were using an LG ROM (which I doubt since you already installed CWM) you need to use one of the flash methods listed in this subforum to reflash your ROM. If you install the exact same ROM it should boot fine with (nearly) all your data intact.
If the phone still won't boot using one of these methods, clear the caches first and reboot.
Thanks for the answers!
However I reflashed all again (wipe data/cache -> Install zip From SD Card)

[Q] help? strange corrupted file/folder maybe

okay, I upgrade my n70f00 from ics stock to jb stock then root with philz kernel. everything went fine. then I notice my phone a bit slow, memory almost full (left less then 100mb out of 800mb) and everytime I boot I get 'android is upgrading, app statting.." notification. i want to reset, but when I do backup with cmw always fail (never backup before). do some this and that, i found that i can't access folder '\data\lost&found'. each time I click that folder using any rooted explorer I have the phone restart. I search and found sgs tools app that can delete corrupted media file, and it did. but I still can access '\data\lost&found' folder (keep restarting).
any idea at all?
thanks in advance..
Did you wipe all the partitions before flashing jb? You can download philz kernel (zip file) corresponding to your rom and flash it from stock recovery.. Go back to recovery (cwm) and wipe data, preload, system, cache, dalvik cache and put the phone in download mode and flash jb for your country or any country using pc odin.. Do backup anything important before wiping..

I didn't wipe anything prior to jb upgrading, hoping everything went fine so I dont have to reinstall alot of apps after upgrading. Now, I can't do full backup because it keep rrstarting when I do full backup. So I'll try several things before doing full wipe and odin.
Thanks

if you are already rooted and if phone gives you enough time to backup your apps you can try using Titanium backup pro to backup your apps.

yes, I'm root. ok, i'll try that. btw, is there any risk of bricking if I do odin with 'corrupted' system folder ('system\data\lost&found')?
thanks again
No. If you put the phone into download mode and flash stock rom from pc odin it should work, but it is advisable that you do wipe the /system /data /preload before you flash stock rom again. Make sure you are on safe kernel before wiping.

[Q] Flash stock ROM by Odin dont erase all user data?

I was surprised that after flashing stock ROM by ODIN, phone was not cleaned from the user data.
I mean: account settings, applications installed by user, etc.
I know that flashing dont erase data from internal/external SD card, but why all data was still exist?
Only Wipe Data / Factory Reset will erase all user data?
Btw, Merry Xmas

Nope, factory reset will not erase all user data. Go into setting/storage and delete from there (not sure cause I didn't have the device now). If you want to erase using odin, tick the repartition box while flashing the firmware. This is the easiest way I think.
Odin flash doesn't wipe user apps and their data, but it may cause bugs if you come from another ROM...
E.g : if u soft bricked on stock JB, just odin flash is necessary.
for other ROMs, it may or may not lag.
I will describe my way.
I tried to install CM 10.2
I did factory reset, next steps follow procedure.
When I did first start, unfortunately keyboard stop working, so my cyjanogen install failed and I decided back to old system using backup.
After restore and start, phone required settings like on first start after factory reset.
Lol, big surprise.
Ok, I entered necessary information but after reset -
again same like after factory reset
I tried from another backup with same result.
Hmm, big mess.
So I flash stock ROM by Odin.
And new surprise - phone with fresh system and all my own settings and applications from last restore.
Two disappointments:
1. Restore from backup does not cause a return to the initial state.
2. Flash ROM by Odin don't make factory state of phone.
I have question, if format partitions: system and data and next restore backup will do real state phone on this backup?

1. Almost every restore from backup for me it returned phone on state when backup was made. Only if my backup was bad (did not have enough place on sd for backup or something corrupted it).
2. Flashing stock ROM by Odin do not touch data partition (or folder whatever it is). So if you want to erase that, you need to make factory reset. It is like that on every Samsung Android device - I am not sure for other, never used.
When you come back from any CM10.2, Omni 4.3 and CM11 based ROM - first flash stock with Odin, do factory reset - and after that restore backup (ofcourse first root, install CoCore kernel for CWM before restore - you can't use restore in stock recovery).
Tnx for answers.
This is weird that format system partition not enough to get rid of the CM
But I checked this again and exactly after refresh ROM by Odin - restore my settings and data works fine.
Hmm imo this is mess in whole Android system

Explanation for that, TeamJanica used preload partition for swap, and it is patitioned in other format than the one stock ROM use. That partition is not used on CM for files, but it has it's use on stock based ROM.

supposedly you have downloaded the stock FW, flash via Odin with re-partition ticked. if it fails, extract the PIT file from CSC_OMC_OXM_XXX save it in a location and load it at the pit session via Odin the re-flash again with re-partition ticked.
