There is a how-to guide. It;s pretty easy.
ok but what files i need to patch?
So, i did that:
I've extracted framework folder from a ics rom zip, then from terminal on pc i've get root permissions.
I had navigate to framework folder on terminal.
The folder was in /home/Scrivania/framwork/ and the patch was in /home/Scrivania/ with the patch resources that i had download from the mod page.
Then in terminal i've write the patch command(patch -p1 < O4x_LS_v2.5.patch) but i received this error:
-batch: O4x_LS_v2.5.patch:File or directory doesn't exist.
Can someone help me?

According to some sources from AT&T's Developer site, the Atrix HD was supposed to originally be on 4.0.3 instead of launching 4.0.4. If someone happened to find an Atrix HD (maybe a display model, or a pre-release model) running 4.0.3 instead of 4.0.4... root it and extract the boot.img (kernel) for us
How to extract boot.img (once rooted)-----------
From a computer with latest Motorola drivers installed on Windows, or a linux machine with android-sdk setup:
Code:
adb shell
su
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p31 of=/sdcard/boot.img
From the free "Android Terminal emulator" app from the Play Store:
Code:
su
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p31 of=/sdcard/boot.img
After you get that boot.img on the sdcard with that command, you can go to the pre-installed "Files" app > Device Storage, and email that boot.img to yourself or to someone who can get it on here (xda).
To root android 4.0.3 use:
*403root.zip (Uses TPSparky exploit)
if that fails for some reason...
*DroidRazrRoot404.zip (Razrsedge by Dan Rosenberg)
Latest Motorola USB drivers can be found at:
64: http://developer.motorola.com/tools/usb_drivers/handset_usb_driver_64/
32: http://developer.motorola.com/tools/usb_drivers/handset_usb_driver/
If you can... check around AT&T stores or cell stores and see if their display models are 4.0.3. It's a longshot, but this would hopefully get those on 4.0.4 Rooted
More cases of 4.0.3 spottings, rare as they are:
http://whatsmyua.com/ua/Mozilla/5.0... like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/534.30
Hmm.. interesting. Surely someone has a 4.0.3 version. Although I bought mine from Best Buy a week after it was released and it already had 4.0.4 loaded.
Maybe a Google search might help us.. I'll see what I can dig up.

I didn't add this to the OP, but there is also a slight chance of engineering devices sold as retail. If you go into AP Fastboot and you see Status 1: UNLOCKED then its a special device which can easily be rooted.

Yeah I noticed mine said "Locked" the other day when I installed those other kernels. Now it makes sense.
If only we were lucky enough to find someone with one of these elusive devices.. Kinda like looking for a needle in the ocean..
EDIT: So, question... What are the other menu options in the recovery menu? Such as, BP Tools.. Could there be an exploit hidden in one of them?

I should restate this thread, there SHOULD be devices on 77.8.18.MB886.ATT.en.US.
This is the version on AT&T's website for teaching you how to check your system version.
There is a chance this is a rootable system version and it only got patched going to 77.10.16.
If in theory, this version was rootable with the current exploits then the boot.img could be extracted and flashed onto the Atrix HD via the little utility I have or manually through fastboot commands.
This is how I am able to keep root on the DROID RAZR with the 4.0.3 exploit even though we are on 4.0.4. Flashing the 4.0.3 boot.img and rooting with that, then flashing back the 4.0.4 for stability. I hope the same theory could be applied here. Unfortunately 77.8.18 seems the be the farthest back I could find and its 4.0.4 still... but the point can still stand. If anyone wants to check out the update.zip from 77.8.18 to 77.10.16 (stock) then you can find it here:
Download 77.8.18 -> 77.10.16:
http://crackflasher.com/dev/mattlgroff/MB886.ATT.en.US/Blur_Version.77.8.18.MB886.ATT.en.US.zip
Remember, Motorola names their update.zip after the version you were ON, not the one you are going to.

And what does this app do?

Minor fixes implemented for Atrix HD, added atrix 2 edison to supported devices.!
Perhaps someone can clarify for me. How is it that this is getting fixes if we cannot even use this app as we are not rooted on the Matrix HD?

The fix was for the format of the partition. On the previous release I had the partition down as ext3 when this device is ext4. Root should be here soon. So please treat this release as a WIP for this device.

I have some ideas on how to root the device. Unfortunately no one of the current devs helping y'all are handing me any help. I can only help those that help themselves. At this point you don't have root because the people with the right info want to keep to themselves.
Edit: I say this because I don't have a device to try this myself, and I won't expose user devices to "test".

I really apretiate your intervention. I find it so distasteful when users begin flaming devs.
This is literally the thread that began the effort for my project cheesecake app. Started with a simple question. Can we unlock the bootloader of the ATRIX hd using ATRIX 4g.

Yea I tried it. I connected to the qa2 server. and did a factory reset. still august 10 build. I don't think I know exactly how to use this. I see one server says test cloud. is this the one I should try out?
I have no idea man

ok so I am using these servers to check for OTA updates? The goal is to find an unlocked bootloader in the update?
---------- Post added at 10:27 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:21 AM ----------
If this is the case then I have checked the qa2, qa4, q200, and q300 or whatever servers and found no update
You probably won't hear about updates for a while on this device. But checking once every 2 to 3 weeks won't hurt.

Thanks, it works great on my Atrix 2 official 4.1.2 JB , but - as you see in the attachment picture - the google search bar dont have the Google logo (to tell the truth the logo only working good in the official ICS roms, not in JB)
can you send this 2 lib files?
libnative_renderer.so & libtexture_mem.so

Every thing went OK but I get an error saying can't load widget on 3rd party launchers. If I select launcher or home screen I get the same issue.
EDIT: I should mention that I'm using AOKP. If it matters.

I know I'm going to get crap for this but the attic hd was one of my favorite androids of all time.it was the first phone I rooted and unlocked the bootloader without help, and let me tell you it wasn't easy. So when I saw your post I was elated! Followed your directions to a T and still its not working. I statlrted looking threw the files to see if I could figure it out but this is again my first time trying to use a widget made for ics to 4.4.3 HTC one m8 both rooted and bootloader unloacked. Do you think there is any way to get this moved to the m8? I will be more than willing to help, I am no n00b to android dev. But I would be so greatful. Hit me back here or PM me so I can once again enjoy that brilliant widget, because both of the ones that you can get from the play store just didn't get it quite right.
Thank you for taking the time to take a look.

Between our device, and the HTC one X's stock, what are the kernel differences? I'm attempting to port over sense 4.1.1 stock and I only get a reaction out of a 4.1.2 stock kernel(Mexican retail).
Also, is there anyone who could assist with updater scripts? I'm stuck adb pushing through recovery right now and it's very unreliable.
Update: 4.1.1 AT&T stock kernel didn't even get a boot loop. It seems the 4.1.2 retail has some of the needed components but not all of them. Does anyone have any opinions? I cannot get to the point in which I can obtain a logcat. Things would probably get much simpler once I can get logcats.
Sent from my MB886 using xda premium
I dont think you can port the kernel. People usually port SYS. Kernel is device specific. So you take our kernel and get Sys from one x, fiddle with them to boot...
You can port kernel too, but need to decompile it and replace some scripts in ramdisk.... Search in android general section, you may get some tutorials....
