Suggest me a stable Rom n kernel for galaxy tab p1000. - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Plz suggest the most stable Rom n kernel for the galaxy tab p1000.
I am going to flash it on my friend's galaxy tab p1000. He is still running froyo
He doesn't know how to root or flash roms.
I have no idea about the tab's development.
Just suggest me a simple GB,ICS stable Rom -- 0 bug --, nothing fancy.

Try alroger latest build. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2043421.
You won't regret it. Running it as daily driver. no SOD or FC occur in a day.

hey there, it depends on if you have a gsm or cdma tablet, and what model it is. if you have the standard p1000 gsm variant, i would recommend to you two things.
first, if you are looking to move up to gingerbread, thee are plenty to choose from, but you can't go wrong with Overcome. It's rock solid.
follow this guide closely (The Overcome ROM A (Hopefully!) Comprehensive Guide To Installing) and read it thoroughly before flashing:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1881981
The nice thing about overcome and this guide is if you have followed all the steps properly and you find gingerbread not to your tastes, it's very easy to move up to ICS to this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1523174
stimpzor put a lot of work into this last year and it shows. Almost no bugs in the final version (milestone 6) and very stable. I used it for many months. plus there's lots of info in the thread.
in my opinion, there's absolutely nothing wrong with Overcome, but once you have tried ICS or JB, you won't go back.

All gingerbread roms are highly alpha| beta, my advise is to stay away from them, and wait for the official release (couple of days/weeks)

I would agree...I am sure the current Gingerbread based ROMs are great, but they are based on leaked versions of beta ROMs. Unless you really know what you are doing or love the risks of the bleeding edge, I would stay away from them.
All signs are pointing to official Gingerbread firmware for the i9000 hitting Europe in the next two weeks. Once that is freely available, I figure the devs here will have fresh ROMS based on Samsung tested, properly released code out within hours/days...not so long to wait.
Check this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1011901
I just flashed this rom few days back and it's working like......knife goes on butter...
benefits:
1. It's 2.3.3
2. very smooth UI
3. longer battery life & lots more
Gingerbread launcher is not there but I installed one from market (check the one from Eugene373)....all together it's cool & I did not face any issues yet!!!
Flashed my few days old Froyo 2.2 with the 2.3.3 rom. So far, everything work without any problem.
Since there is now stable releases of gingerbread, are there any custom roms for it? i cant find any :/
Are there any kernels for gingerbread also?
You can try ColdMod Rom... its beautiful with TW 4.0 which works nicely with good battery life... i have no complains abt it and im using 2.1 improvent of ColdMod
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
dont know yet
I switched from Darky RC 5.3 to Juwes 4.2 cause Darky is little bit unstable for now. Juwe seems pretty fast and compatible.
I was using darky rom so far but now i want to try something new (darky is still on 2.3.3 which has the battery bug so i use 9.5).
So what 2.3.4 rom do you recommend? It doesnt have to be "blazing fast" , good battery life will suffice
Thank you.
How about Stock Gingerbread Roms?
Is there any rom stable and without bugs?
I use stock JVQ downloaded from samfirmwares with SpeedMod t23 and the auto brightness fix. All partitions converted to ext4 (/system too).
It is really responsive, no lags at all and I didnt find any bug (except the auto brightness but like I said there is a fix).
I also use tegrak to overclock it to 1.2 Ghz but thats optional, it is already really fast !!
confuse every rom has characteristic

im doing the ext 4 right now.. im not quite sure what it does, but ive read a lot of good things in it..

[Q] The next ROM to try?

Hi all
I know there are a few threads similar to this one, so crap me out if you really want, but i'm asking some valid qs ..
I've been suing darky's since i first got my SGS.. 9.5 and now 10RC5.. The 10 version is a little buggy and until he releases the final version, i'm keen on trying something else. I'd love to try Cyanogen but it sounds even more buggy.
There's a great list of custom ROMs here, but there's almost too many. Some of them seem 'less than', some are based on stock, etc...
I've heard good things about ROM kitchen, so i'd be happy to check that out.. but i'm having some problems with the choices...
1. BASE ROM: what is the difference between ZSJPK, ZSJPJ, XWJS8 and ZSJPG? Are these the modems?
2. CSC: my country isn't on the list. Will JP9 suffice? How do i check what my phone is currently set as?
3. THEMES: These refer back to the BASE ROM letters... but they are all stock themes? What is the difference between one stock theme and the other?
4. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY: Are all these different option all compatible with my Gingerbread SGS?
What would you suggest as an intermediary ROM to settle on for a while, while i wait for darky to release a better v10?
I value battery life over speed.
Rom Kitchen .

http://romkitchen.org/beta/?s=generator
Read FAQS .
1. BASE ROM: what is the difference between ZSJPK, ZSJPJ, XWJS8 and ZSJPG
BASE ROMS letters denote area and A Comes before B as end number .
MODEMS are Modems not BASE ROMS .
2. CSC: my country isn't on the list. Will JP9 suffice? How do i check what my phone is currently set as?
WHAT LIST ??? Current CSC read secret codes post .
4. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY: Are all these different option all compatible with my Gingerbread SGS?
Very confusing question .
As you have an unofficial Gingerbread modded rom who knows .
You need to read and learn start at the begging and decide what rom you want to flash and read its faqs .

Cm7 is the best rom a available to sgs. Just follow the instructions carefully.
GingerCriskelo rom
I like GingerCriskelo costum rom very much.
@galaxysdev...
the CM7 xda thread makes it sound like it is VERY buggy, and that there is not much support. I'm not at all happy with darky 10, and thats RC5 with TONS of support...
Is CM7 really that stable?

It has been my daily driver as a month now and I can say it really is that good. I know the porting is not done yet but they fix bugs daily. It is well supported and the xda thread... well you can ignore most of the messages there (some of the users don't really seem to read the faq or even the installation instructions well so). Of course if fm-radio, tv-out and ffc(it looks really funny) are life lines for you then its not a rom for you. But I strongly recommend to try it.Seriously.

Thanks.. looks good. Keen. I am using a gingerbread SGS, running Darky v10 RC 5 (Kernel DarkCore2.1) - do i just flash in recovery? Must i reset factory, or flash a base GB rom or anything? and is this the right file i should be flashing? CriskeloRom_GINGERBREAD_v46_I9000-I9000T-I9000M.zip (190.78 MB)
Well, if you're aiming for the most stable and fast ROM, with the most Impressive battery life then try DeBus ROM G1.

Almost giving up now...

Ok I have a GT P1000 (belongs to a friend)...
AND ALL I WANT IS A DAMN CM10.1!!
No clear instructions how to go to CM10.1 from CM9
No clear instructions where to change from CWM to TWRP
No clear instructions on how to fix errors
No clear instructions on how to 'restock' either (There are like a plethora of "restock" ROMs and have no clue which one to flash when).
PLz people..I am not angry..just upset..can any1 help.. plz?
PS: I have tried flashing CM10.1 by Alroger/Cdesai and the Touchwiz 4.2.2 and all three give me Status 7. There is absolutely no way I can change the recovery or fix this error. Is this some MD5 checksums issue?
Don't multi post your problem.
It is so simple. Most instruction for CM10.1 ask you to restock, so just do it.
You were in sos_sifou's overcome thread. Use that. If you forgot where, see my signature.
1) You better don't go from cm9 to cm10 directly, for reasons I mentioned there in reply to you.
2) You don't need to change from CWM to TWRP, when you flash the new ROM, it comes with TWRP in it's kernel. P1000 does not have separate partition for recovery. It has to be included in the kernel.
3) not everyone encounters your error
4) any of the restock instruction will likely work. If you haven't even tried, why didn't you? Safest is to use overcome method.
your status 7 will go away with overcome method.
Hi guy
The dude speaks true but you might want a bit of hand holding.
Alterbridge, a genius contributor, wrote a ROM in gingerbread called the overcome ROM for the p1 version of the tab based on leaked Samsung code. His latest version was called kratos and was really quite amazing. The overcome ROM can be downloaded from mirrors that are provided regularly on the xda SG tab site. Find using search p1 overcome from xda.
Loading this leaked GB ROM is called restocking and brings you to a vanilla system with few problems. Most people use Odin to load it under windows or heimdall under Linux. Both are pretty easy. They do erase anything on the sdcard though, so be careful.
This provides a stable base from which to install ICS and jb versions mostly championed by humberos, sbradymobile and cdsai. The 10.0 version mostly works. 10.1 has a broken front camera for selfie fans to lament but recent improvements to the battery life provides redemption. I like 10.1.
10.2 is still a bit wobbly but works well enough and gives the cutting edge if you can handle it.
To progress you have to find overcome and Odin / heimdall. Flash of and follow the prompts. This will give you a rooted tab under gingerbread and cw recovery.
Entering recovery you can flash any of the 10.x ROMs and the gapps zip and experience the latest android versions. Really quite amazing. Use too manager to find the latest gapps zip and the 10.1 daily uploads.
Hope this helps, read lots of xda and Google cm 10.1 BBQ to find the latest stable stuff.
Happy exploring, follow the guides precisely on the first posts of a thread to get updates and current info and to avoid bricks. Good luck, it's really rewarding to follow these amazing folks and their work.

Actually, Kratos was before overcome 4.1

2.3.5?

Ok im getting a used phone that is stocked never been rooted and ill update to 2.3.5. What is best stable rom with battery life and OC after i odin and corn kk_4 v705 and do i need BL drs or not necessary?
Many ROMs are stable. Best ROM is the one you like most.
For people with no experience with Captivate I always recommend this Guide. It shows step-by-step how to update the OS from GB to CM10.x stable. CyanogenMod is the most popular ROM, CM10.1.3 Stable is JB 4.2.2 based, CM10.2 Stable is JB 4.3.1 based. Don't flash beta or experimental ROMs as your first custom ROM. Read the guide VERY carefully and try to understand what you are doing.
Ive had Cappy back in the day with Heimdall days and 2.2 lol. Im getting a used Cappy this week it will be 2.1. Yes i already have latest stable 10 and gapps downloaded and ready and wanted to know if i can use the s3 touch wiz after all is said and done? Sec launcher signed or unsigned? Can i use neat kernel on this or what do you recommend for OC`ing?
- You can't upgrade to CM10.x starting from Eclair, read the Guide.
- You can get TouchWiz style theme and/or TouchWiz launcher, whatever you like.
- Be careful what kernel/version you are looking at, different kernels are for different Android versions.
- I wouldn't recommend OC over 1.2GHz. Default CM kernel supports step OC to 1.2GHz.
- Careful with CM10.2 Android 4.3.1 based, kernel change may break the ROM.
I see you are in a hurry to transform your Captivate to something awesome, but please read more and understand what you are doing. All the information needed is already here on XDA. Use Search and you'll fund what you are looking for. Upgrading from 2.1 to 2.3.x includes bootloaders flash and a risk to brick your device. I recommend you to use KIES for this process, follow the instructions closely.
I meant after ive done the kies and 2.3.5
OK
- you can use whatever you want launcher with CM10.x
- Neat kernel is for different Android version (4.4.x), don't flash it
- for CM10.2 my recommendation is to use default CM kernel
hello, mine is CM10.1.3 but I was able to use the JB 4.3 but its running real slow. do I need to update it for something?

CM11 Android 4.4.2 based nightly builds are quite stable. Some features are still missing, but coming back soon. I'm currently running latest 20131215 and I have no issues whatsoever. In my opinion, CM11 runs better than CM10.2 and uses less RAM. Leave ART alone for now, it's in experimental stage and more potent hardware is needed to show real advantages; use default Dalvik VM.
Keep in mind, that once the phone is repartitioned to run CM10.2/CM11 there is no easy way to go back to CM10.1. You'll need to go back to stock GB, flash Corn kernel, flash CM10.1 to repartition, flash CM10.1 again to install the ROM.
thank you! but can I directly update it to CM11? since Im running CM 10.1 or do I first need to update it to CM10.2?

Follow the instructions:

once you get a custom recovery on the phone, then it becomes a much easier process. I only really found trying to unlock the phone as the main difficult item.

Cyanogenmod vs Stock

Hi there,
i have a Galaxy Tab 8.0 P7300. I want to know if there is a *better* cyanogenmod rom than the ICS stock rom?
I don't like putting new roms on my device every other week and want something that just works, but i don't know how stable the CM roms really are?!
I ask because the devices is not the fastes and im looking for a way to tune it a little bit.

Well, CM is good and has way more features than the stock one, but if you use your tab for heavy games playing
then stock ICS is the best cuz CM (9,10,10.1,10.2) is kinda laggy while playing heavy games
in my personal experience, the best ROM for our tab is an optimized stock ICS like this one:

You can't flash it or any other ROMs by odin, you have to install CWM through odin first,
Then you'll be able to flash it through odin.
You can find odin and CWM that can be flashed through odin in the second post in the same thread

Are current builds of CM 10.2 still laggy with Netflix? I tried it a few months back (a September build) and it worked pretty well EXCEPT for the Netflix lagging/buffering problems.

Seems pretty good on C-O-M's latest build of CM10.2. I only checked it for a minute, but it ran smooth.
